CAPTURE OF SUBJECT 004
Discovered REDACTED by military personnel following tracks outside the quarantine area. Electroshock weaponry was found ineffective. Tranquilizer rounds were found ineffective. Once authorized, assault rifles were found ineffective. Once authorized, rocket-propelled grenades were found effective. Once UE 004’s survival was confirmed, Military Operation 004-1 was devised. While wounded from a round of explosives, UE 004 was orally sedated and bound to prevent escape.
ASSOCIATED CASUALTIES
Initial Capture: Subject resisted capture but did not apply lethal force. Containment: Subject refuses to cooperate with researchers or provide useful answers. Containment Breaches: During the subject’s escape attempt, UE 004 caused the deaths of one (1) scientist and nineteen (19) military personnel.
CONFIRMED ABILITIES
Toughness: Blood samples are difficult to obtain from UE 004. Though the subject’s skin has an identical texture to human skin, it cannot be punctured by hypodermic needles. The subject’s body resists cutting and puncture wounds up to high-caliber bullets. Regeneration: UE 004 has been injured past the point of human lethality in both the subject’s capture and recapture but recovers all damage in a matter of minutes. Research into the medical applications of regeneration has focused on UE 003 due to the difficulty of obtaining samples from UE 004. Wounding: Any injury caused by UE 004, no matter how small, has the potential to be lethal. During treatment of the wounded after UE 004’s containment breach, one soldier had been scratched on the hand. The scratch continued to bleed severely after being stitched shut. After several transfusions, the soldier’s life was saved through amputation. This soldier was the sole survivor among those wounded.
ESCAPE RECORD
Containment Breach Five occurred on REDACTED. The subject tore apart its restraints and clawed through Containment Unit 004-1’s steel door. Contingencies A-C were implemented, though not all personnel were able to evacuate the quarantined area. As part of Contingency C, Military Operation 004-2 was devised to recapture the subject. UE 004’s extensive damage to the Facility rendered surveillance inoperable, forcing personnel to work blind. This operation was a failure. The subject breached the sealed perimeter of Contingency B’s quarantine. However, by this time all non-military personnel had evacuated the Facility. Military Operation 004-3 was devised as an Emergency Contingency, and soldiers were authorized to work without regard for damages to the Facility. As a result, UE 004 was subdued through the use of conventional explosives. All personnel who had come in contact with UE 004 were brought to the on-site infirmary. Stitching the wounds shut and blood transfusions prolonged life but were found ineffective. Though amputation and cauterization were both effective, most of the soldier’s wounds were too deep or wide for them to survive the treatment. As a result of Containment Breach Five, Contingency D was created. Beneath the living chamber of Containment Unit 004-2, a conventional explosive was installed. This bomb was designed to neutralize UEs 002-007 in the event they become unrecoverable while leaving UE 000 intact, though UE 001 in its Containment Unit has an estimated 5% chance of survival and may have to be disposed of separately if Contingency D is activated. See attached document UE 004-D for all information regarding personnel evacuation routes, the projected damage of detonation, and subsequent firefighting plans.
RECOMMENDATION
The subject was scheduled for use in an operation to penetrate UE 000’s barrier on REDACTED. As a result of the containment breach, the operation was canceled. Though UE 004 has the highest casualty rate of the UEs, its abilities remain valuable in any potential operations to penetrate the barrier around UE 000. Contingency D will prevent another incident like Containment Breach Five from occurring, and the Facility’s evacuation time is being continually improved. Until the appropriate precautions for a UE 000 operation using UE 004 are in place, it is recommended the subject remain on-site pending further developments.
