CAPTURE OF SUBJECT 005
Discovered REDACTED in an abandoned building by three youths outside the quarantine zone. The civilians were retrieved and debriefed after a Facility soldier on leave overheard them discussing the event in town. See attached document 005-A for the soldier’s report and a compilation of all three interviews. The subject did not pursue the civilians after discovery. When military personnel confronted the subject during Military Operation 005-1, the subject did not attempt escape. Instead, UE 005 defended the building from incursion. All units engaged the subject with assault weapons. Prolonged discharge of high-caliber bullets was found ineffective. No record of how the building caught fire was filed. UE 005 eventually succumbed to smoke inhalation and was subdued.
ASSOCIATED CASUALTIES
Initial Capture: The subject caught and threw ten soldiers in total. Eight soldiers were moderately wounded. Two soldiers were severely wounded. Of those two, one has made a full recovery and the other is currently undergoing physical therapy, with a full recovery deemed possible. See attached document 005-C for details of the soldier’s rehabilitation. Containment: No casualties are associated with UE 005’s containment. The subject participates in interviews through the intercom but has shown resistance to questioning and is evasive with responses. Containment Breaches: N/A
CONFIRMED ABILITIES (See attached document UE 005-F for all related research reports)
Bulletproof Hair: UE 005’s ability is not to be underestimated. Tests indicate each strand of the subject’s hair has greater tensile strength and toughness than steel. UE 005’s hair does not appear to be comprised of keratin like other mammals. The properties of this substance changes from denser than lead to lighter than air at the subject’s will. Hair Control: UE 005 can entangle and constrict objects or use its hair to hold and throw ninety kilograms up to ten meters. This does not appear to be the limit of the subject’s capabilities. The subject’s reticence has made gathering data on this topic difficult. In video analysis, the subject’s hair appears to have the reaction time and unified movements of swarm intelligence. Each hair has a sensitivity to light, sound, heat, and pressure. Strands of UE 005’s hair continue to move independently for three (3) days after separation and rapidly decompose afterward. During interviews, UE 005 implicated knowledge of the research lab’s equipment and staff which it must have observed through those severed hairs. Braided Hair Constructs: The subject has demonstrated fine control of individual hairs. Its hair can knot strands into ropes and tie ropes into more complicated animate structures such as a weapon or rope-bridge. Due to the subject’s ability to control detached hairs, it is possible for UE 005 to build wheel-and-axel vehicles and more advanced devices.
ESCAPE RECORD
UE 005 has made escape attempts but is unable to penetrate steel walls. As meals are delivered via supply chute and the subject resists physical evaluation, UE 005 has not been given the opportunity to force its way through an open door.
RECOMMENDATION
UE 005 is being considered for a joint operation with other UEs in penetrating the barrier around UE 000. It is recommended the subject remain on-site pending further developments.
