At this time of day, Ling Zheng was drinking tea with his younger sister, talking about how the last three years had went for both of them. He spoke at length about his company and the competition to become family head, and Ling Xiu spoke at length about all the places she had traveled in the past three years, the jobs she had worked, and the conversation eventually steered into discussing more about Wu Lan. Ling Xiu eventually broke into laughter, "Older brother, are you interested in Sis Lan or something, all you want to talk about recently is her!"

"As if, us members of the Ling family can't get involved personally with regular human beings, though I will admit that a lot about her piques my fascination," Ling Zheng said.

"Since when? There's no reason for such an outdated tradition to remain," Ling Xiu flippantly snorted.

"...Oh. I forgot. We never did tell you about this, did we? After all, you were only four when you left, and then we were too happy to see you back to think about anything else. It's not just a tradition, little sis. You know that the Ling lineage traces back to ancient immortal cultivators, right? We gave you a cultivation manual when you returned to us about five years ago. Well, apparently, one of our ancestors had offended an old Western witch by rejecting her in favor of his normal human wife, who had no powers whatsoever. That crazy witch crippled his cultivation and killed his wife, leaving his children untouched, saying, 'I curse you and your descendants to have as much difficulty finding a partner as I have, and never touch a normal human again.'" Ling Zheng told the story to his younger sister.

"...Damn. How spiteful though, take a hint!" she said, a little bit shocked now.

"Yep, we think that she had already been driven mad by age and isolation. Apparently she still roams the world, so if you meet an old lady, don't offend her. So, do you understand why I can't be involved with Wu Lan?" Ling Zheng said.

"Brother, who told you that Wu Lan was a regular human?" Ling Xiu smirked.

"What do you mean," Ling Zheng asked, cocking an eyebrow.

"Exactly what I say, dear brother. Sis Lan and I grew up on the streets of City C in Country I, as you know. Do you know what City C has a reputation for? At least in Country I, everyone knows that the orphans in City C aren't ordinary. City C is where people of all races seal and dump their most dangerous children. Because of the high concentration of old families of all races, the danger the sealed kids pose is nearly negligible. Of course, there are regular humans there too, but even those regular humans are pushed to inhuman levels of resilience and strength, or else they'll die in that cesspit. In such a place, Sis Lan was the strongest when she was as young as fifteen. It's also common knowledge that seals come in the form of tattoos, and I'm probably not supposed to tell you this, but I will. Sis Lan's tattoos cover everywhere other than her feet, hands, and face. How powerful of a seal must it be for it to cover her whole body?" Ling Xiu said.

"But you have some tattoos as well, how do you know she didn't get those when she was older?" Ling Zheng rightfully wondered.

"Because she's had them since before I met her, and she was only six when I met her. How unlikely would it be for them to be regular tattoos?" countered Ling Xiu.

"Then...what is she?" Ling Zheng asked.

Ling Xiu only shrugged, seemingly having no idea. "She tells me that she's broken the seal before, but resealed it so that she would draw less attention. She never told me what she was, saying, 'If fate allows for you to see me under my seal, then you will have the experience of knowing, but it's not time yet.' How cryptic, right?!"

"... Interesting, interesting. I might just be interested in Wu Lan in that case," Ling Zheng muttered.

"Ha, even if you are interested in my Sis Lan, she has to be interested in you first! I'll take pity on you and give the both of you more time together, if only so Sis Lan will really be my sister!" Ling Xiu excitedly exclaimed.

"Alright, enough about Wu Lan for now, do you want to go out to eat anywhere?" Ling Zheng asked.

"I do have a place in mind, how about we head over to Winter Dragon for dinner?" Ling Xiu sneakily said. Inside, she was thinking, 'I'll just ask Sis Lan out for a meal at the same time and familiarise the two.'

"Okay, we'll leave in about three hours, at eight o' clock?" Ling Zheng confirmed.

"Sounds good!" Ling Xiu said. She pulled her phone out and sent Wu Lan a message.

Ling Xiu: Sis, want to meet at the Winter Dragon for dinner?

Wu Lan : I'm drinking there with Wu Fan right now, we'll still be here until late.

What time? I'll tell the bartender so you can come to our room.

Ling Xiu: Eight. See you then!

Wu Lan : See ya.

Ling Xiu smiled widely in anticipation of the upcoming dinner, and went to go bother her brother for the remainder of the time until they had to leave.
