301 Ch. 301 A Mother’s Prayer

“We still have time before the clock hit midnight. Do you want to talk to Lori?” whispered Richard when he felt Anxia calm down and stop crying.

Anxia glanced at Elliot, sitting on Jamie’s lap while joking happily with Mei Yin, then glanced back at her husband. “I’ve spoken to Elliot. He said he wanted to surprise Lori and his grandparents by showing up in person, so he would not be making video calls with them.”

Anxia chuckled at this. “Elliot reminds me of someone.”

“Who?” Anxia winked seductively, inviting laughter at Richard. “No. I’m not that naughty.”

“I don’t believe it. Your mother told me about your mischief when you were a child.”

Richard nodded in surrender, laughing, “Alright, alright. So you want to talk to our daughter?”

“Of course. I haven’t wished her a happy birthday yet.”

Richard smiled gently as he wiped away the remaining tears from Anxia’s tears that were starting to dry up. “Okay. We’ll be doing a video call in a few minutes. You don’t want Lori to ask why you’re crying, do you?”

“I can answer the question.”

.....

“What kind of answer would you give?” Richard’s eyebrow shot up at this.

“I’ll tell her you bullied me so much that I can’t stand wanting to scream on this mountain until my tears come out.”

“What? I bullied you?”

“Kyaa!” Anxia immediately ran away when she felt Richard’s expert fingers tickling start to travel to the crook of her waist.

She ran away until she hid behind Jamie, making the mute woman laugh.

“Xia Xia, since when did you cheat and hide behind other people’s backs?”

Anxia answered her husband’s question by sticking out her tongue like a child. Her child-like act made Elliot laugh out loud, and his galaxy-like eyes shone brightly. “Papa, mama, what are you doing?”

Anxia pinched Elliot’s cheek fondly. “What do you think we’re doing? Your papa wants to bully me, so I run away.”

Elliot giggled to feel his mother pinch her chubby cheek fondly, but when he noticed the red eyes and nose on his mother’s, his eyes filled with concern. “Are you okay?”

“I’m fine now. I’m with you, your papa, and all of you….” Anxia glanced one by one at Jamie, Mei Yin, and Xue Min, “I’ve never felt this happy before.”

“I’m happy too!” Elliot shouted while raising his hands as if he wanted to reach the sky.

“But… what should we do about Song Lei? That sly old man managed to escape.”

Everyone was silent, unable to answer Mei Yin’s comments until finally, a member of the Cerberus team gave shocking news.

“Just now, we got the news that Song Lei was found dead on the Etros wharf, and his forehead had a hole while the men with him were unconscious.”

Neither one of them was surprised to hear this unexpected news. They thought that Song Lei had managed to escape and that they would never be able to trace the man’s whereabouts. Who would have thought that Song Lei had so many enemies that someone would find and kill him?

Anxia unintentionally glanced at her husband, who was smiling now filled with a sense of satisfaction that she couldn’t understand. She couldn’t help but wonder if the culprit was Richard himself.

Richard felt someone watching him, and his eyes shifted to his wife, who looked at him questioningly. He winked with a playful smile to confirm Anxia’s suspicions.

Ah, Richard always never failed to surprise her―starting from the fact that Richard was Cerberus, the guardian angel, and now the news about Song Lei’s death. Anxia realized her husband was not a common person―not even an ordinary successful businessman.

‘Mom, it looks like your prayers have been answered. I married someone who sincerely loves me and accepts me for who I am, even though he knows I’m a former assassin. And my husband is not an ordinary person―he is a remarkable and dependable husband!

Anxia lifted her head towards the sky to thank her mother in heaven. She hoped that when her mother looked down to check on her, her mother would only see how happy she was living in this world.

Her thoughts wondered until she remembered something that returned her to real life.

“Jamie, did Deke Shu know that that woman stole my mother’s identity?”

Jamie shook her head and replied that as far as she could remember, no one but Jamie, Song Lei, and the fake woman knew about this.

“Anxia, ??why do you think that old man knows it?”

“Liam once took me to the obstetrician who helped me deliver the twins. That fake Loraine didn’t expect Liam to serve me as if she feared Deke Shu. I feel like Deke Shu wants to try to make me antagonize that woman.”

“We can ask him directly. I also want to demand an explanation from him for separating me from my own mother. Tag me along if you go to China to meet that old fart man.”

Jamie cleared her throat, warning her daughter, who spat out harsh words while covering Elliot’s ears making Mei Yin scratch her neck awkwardly.

“Xia Xia, don’t see her again when we take our children. I don’t want our kids to be poisoned by immoral words.”

“Are you challenging me?” Mei Yin rolled her sleeves as if to challenge Richard.

“Are you talking to me?” was the man’s indifferent answer.

Anxia rolled her eyes lazily as she could see dangerous currents of electricity coming from the two people’s eyes.

“Richie, I need to call Lori now,” Anxia said as she hugged her husband’s arm to get his attention.

Then the two walked away to have a video call with Lori and hoped their daughter wasn’t asleep as it was already ten in the evening.

Meanwhile, Mei Yin commented, “Elliot, you are unlucky to have a father like that.”

“Eh? Why? Papa is the coolest person in this world! He is my superhero!”

Mei Yin opened her mouth wide, not believing Elliot’s words. Wasn’t this the first time Elliot had met Richard? Why did the child immediately like his father so much that he even called him his superhero????????
