The shopkeeper’s name appeared to be Roberts. I wasn’t sure if that was a surname or a given one. Although he seems to be a well known merchant, it seems only natural that he’s able to do business with the aristocracy.

“Sir, may I see that sword once more?”

The snake sword killgills.

Roberts’ face had changed when he heard that I had obtained it from a dungeon. I wondered whether I should try and have it appraised at least once.

“Sir, you shouldn’t use dangerous words like ‘dungeon’ so carelessly.”

“Dangerous?”

I mean sure it was a dangerous place but…

“For now let’s appraise what I’ve got. I think that’s for the best, the stuff from dungeons is mysterious. For the sake of argument, if it turned out to be legendary, mythic, or even fantasy class; sir your life could be in danger.”

While Roberts was explaining Sierra was taking a long hard look at the snake sword. Even so for my life to be in danger….. What a dangerous world.

‘Cook toy store’

A billboard marked with an old man wearing a pointed hat, a white beard hung under his smile and he held a brown cane. Roberts explained that the store was operated by the major Cook group.

“It’s big!”

Nem was excited by the sign and the store’s exterior size.

“Are there stores like this in your hometown Toa?”

“……. I don’t know I haven’t been into the town much.”

She’s a demon so I thought she lived in a large forest but what kind of life did she lead exactly.

“It’s called a toy store but inside is more or less a magic shop… Anyway let’s go inside.”

Roberts appeared excited as he entered the store. Inside it felt as if a luxury palace had been spread before us.

Red gold trimmed curtains hung on the windows and a large chandelier hung from the ceiling. The floor was covered in an embroidered red carpet.

The items were displayed inside showcases, all kinds of swords and armor, even shields were displayed along the wall. It even had clothes although it looked to be just a single hoodie.

In the center was bottles that looked like they’d be used in a science experiment. They were lined up with some kind of liquid inside of them. The scene was the same all the way to the back of the store.

“For now, this.”

Roberts handed killgills to the lady at the counter.

“Wow it’s so big!”

“Hang on, Nem.”

Nem disappeared into the store with Toa following close behind.

“Sierra why don’t you go in and look around as well, I don’t know much about rapiers so it’d be better if you could choose one for yourself.”

“Probably so but..”

“Don’t worry about it, just consider it me paying rent. It would help me out as well if you thought of it that way.”

I originally intended to thank her somehow anyway. But not knowing the customs of this world and how to show my thanks appropriately I’ve been procrastinating.

” Well then, I will do as you say. ”

With that Sierra gave a shallow nod then took off deeper into the store.

“Sir why don’t you go look around as well I’ll wait here for the appraisal results.”

“Got it.”

I don’t think there will be anything useful to a healer. If tools could make up for the weak points it wouldn’t be called the weakest. More specifically there wasn’t anything I particularly wanted but I looked around anyway.

I came across Toa looking for something in the store.

“Toa, is there anything that looks good?”

“Masamune, well… there’s not really anything special. I have a sword and I don’t exactly want to wear any of that armor. I’d prefer it if they had something light.”

“I saw a light looking hoodie?”

“Honored customer, if that’s the case how about this?”

Someone working in the shop who had heard our conversation offered up a recommendation.

“This is a rare class light armor forged from the scales of a wyvern.”

“Rare class?”

I tilted my head at the new term.

“Rare class is part of the standard for measuring the value of things such as, weapons, books, expendables, and monster materials.”

— — — — —
Common class: Low quality items made from B rank monsters and minerals.

Rare class: High quality items made from A rank monsters and minerals.

National Treasure class: High quality items made from S rank monsters and materials.

Legendary class: Extremely high quality items made from SS rank monsters and minerals.

Mythic class: Extremely high quality items made from SSS rank monsters and minerals.

Fantasy class: Absurdly high quality items made from infinity monsters and minerals.
— — — — —

There doesn’t seem to be a standard for items that fall below C rank. In other words things taken from something like a goblin have no value at all. Even so I was unaware of that standard. In that case I want some things a bit more expensive. The wyvern armor is light and rugged but it doesn’t match Toa at all.

“Do you have anything in the back?”

“Over there is the national treasure corner.”

It was a separate room from this one, I could see a showcase from behind a curtain.

“Can we take a look?”

“I am very sorry, National Treasures can be very expensive so before entering we have to confirm your budget. Would that be alright?”

“Uh sure, this is just what I have on me but right now I can muster up about 10 million. Is that enough?”

I pulled out the wad of money I’d received before this.

“M-my apologies, please go ahead.”

The staff member seemed shocked by the wad of money. In other words, even for National Treasure level items this amount of money is enough. Although looking at it objectively I don’t exactly look like I’d have lots of money.

” Hey, Masamune were you serious about the 10 million Rion?”

“Serious?”

“It’s 10 million Rion? We don’t know how much Yowastein meat we could buy with that. It’s good to have a lot of money but it it OK to just pull it out like that?”

“I see your point. But it’s ok for stuff like armor isn’t it? We should still make money from the reward. Either way let’s take a look, we don’t even know the market price for this stuff.”

“… Yeah OK.”

Toa also had no idea about the market or monetary value of the money. The me who splurged, couldn’t understand her worry.

The items lined up in the National Treasure area were clearly treated differently. The room was dark to help create an atmosphere, much like an aquarium. The showcase was trimmed with gold with the interior lit up. It was even equipped with a sofa to rest.

“Toa this is good isn’t it?”

I found something that looked like it would fit Toa well.

“Castle tower feathered robe?”

Toa read the letters which seemed like hieroglyphics to me. It was light clothing with white lace. It didn’t particularly have the feeling of armor, there’s no way a feather robe was armor right?

“This is called the castle tower feathered robe, and it is made by a senior alchemist combining national treasure grade fabrics and minerals. Rugged, stretchy and, above all, lightweight.”

“Masamune what do you think?”

“Mmm—, I think this would look better on you than any armor and it looks like it’s good quality too. I think it’s good.”

“Then let’s go with this.”

“Excuse me how much is this?”

“This is 1.5 million Rion.”

A surprisingly reasonable price. But 1.5 million, if you think about it in terms of yen there are people who pay that much for clothes right? (roughly $14,000)

“Masamune, are you OK? We need money for the trip after this, there’s no need to over do it.”

I looked at Toa’s worried expression, even in a parallel world I can’t fix my indecisive personality. Uncool.

“Nah, money’s not a problem. I just want to buy this for you that it.”

Someone once said you can’t make an omelet without breaking a few eggs.

“We’ll take it.”

“Thank you very much for your business, I will bring it out to you.”

After that the conversation changed to payment but Toa said she wanted to try it on first. As she did that I went off to look for Sierra and Nem.

Nem was in the national treasure area looking at a showcase. When did she get back here?

” Nem, did you find something you wanted?”

“mmmmn…. I don’t know. There are a bunch of numbers I’ve never seen before its very confusing.”

What kind of clothes would look good on Nem? I called the clerk over, explained that nem was of the Cat tribe and asked if there was any armor small enough to fit her.

” That being the case, what about this? ”

The clerk brought came back with something like a thin shiny shirt.

“This is mithril, it was made by an advanced elf alchemist and an advanced seamstress. It’s meant to be worn underneath other clothing. The price is 2 million, it’s a bit expensive but it’s equipped with resizing magic. That means that as the wearer gets older or grows taller there won’t be any problems wearing it. ”

This is just a 2 million Rion shirt. What in the world is an elf?

” This is sturdy right? ”

” Of course. It’s made with national grade materials. ”

With Toa’s clothes added in that’s 3.5million and it’s still just the beginning. So anyway I bought the mithril shirt.

“Nem wear this under your clothes, it will protect you.”

“Master, wasn’t this expensive?”

“Yeah but from now on this will protect you Nem. So if you think about it that way, it’s cheap.”

“Really?”

Nem looks apologetic.

“Yeah, go try it on over there with Toa.”

Nem stared into my eyes and then with a “Got it!” ran off smiling.

“—master.”

However, as I turned to leave I heard Nem’s voice again. As I turned around the little girl who should have just run off to try on clothes was standing there.

“Thank you!”

Nem said this with an innocent smile before running off once again. I couldn’t help smiling at her back, Nem was so innocent.

I saw Toa emerge from the changing room as they switched places. In that moment the feeling of when I first met Toa came back to life.

“Huh? What’s up with those clothes?”

Other than the feather robe we had just purchased, Toa was wearing under clothes I didn’t remember. It matches my hair so the clerk gave it to me as a free service.

It was like Otohime of Ryugu Castle.
*Reference*
Indeed it was beautiful.

“D-does it not look good?”

I awkwardly told her my thoughts and she giggled a “Thank you.”

“Master! I put it on!”

I turned around at the innocent sounding voice to find Nem too, wearing clothes I didn’t remember.

“The clerk gave them to me!”

Nem was wearing a white hoodie and shorts of a good Texture. I could faintly see the mithril at her chest, and there I noticed something. Why does the hood have ears? According to the clerk it was a cat tribe hoodie, made so that even when wearing the hood the ears can still stand up.

That’s two people telling me the same thing, apparently I didn’t have to pay for this service.

Finally, next was Sierra’s rapier. Looking around the store I spotted Sierra staring at a showcase.

“Did you find something that looks good?”

“Masamune-dono, that’s…”

In front of the muttering Sierra, inside the showcase was a sword like a snowflake motif. She’s really easy to understand.

“This rapier is made from a unicorn horn. Even more so, it was a unicorn living in the Arda Mountains.”

“The Arda Mountains?”

“The Arda Mountains is a mountain range at an altitude of 10,000 meters in Mod Hern. It’s continued snowing there for hundreds of years, monsters don’t really approach because of the cold. However it seems to be unicorn territory. Inside the bodies of the unicorns raised in these mountains, the ice attribute is born; their horn acts as the nucleus. Due to the harsh environment the unicorn itself became a high quality monster. ”

” Someone bothered to go hunting in those mountains? ”

” Not quite. Unicorns rarely come to the bottom of the mountain. There one was captured and made into this Ice crystal rapier. The blade has a ice attribute core where the magic dwells and was made by an advanced blacksmith. That being the case the price is a little high at 5 million but the quality is guaranteed. ”

Sierra’s face stiffened when she heard 5 million.

” Speaking of which, Sierra you used ice magic right? So this Rapier would be a good match for you wouldn’t it? ”

” True, but this is too expensive. I’m still an immature knight, something cheaper would—”

“In that case without thinking about buying it, what do you think of the sword?”

“It’s amazing! The blade, the guard, the handle! It’s all good! And above all it’s not enchanted it has an ice attribute core! There’s nothing to complain about!”

“OK, I’ll take it.”

“Thank you very much.”

The clerk didn’t miss a beat.

“Wa-wait! Masamune-dono, you can’t! I won’t accept something this expensive!”

Even after that Sierra refused to accept it so I forced it saying “Well, I already bought and I can’t return it.”

“I’ll treasure it for the rest of my life.” Sierra seemed broken. ”

The total price was 8.5 million Rion. ($78,000) There was 21.5 million Rion left. ($198,269.98) There was plenty. There’s no harm in shopping like this.

After we finished shopping we returned to the counter. Roberts was waiting there with the snake sword in one hand, although he seemed odd.

“Thank you for waiting.”

Roberts looked at the girls who’s appearance had changed and said “You look like you had fun.” His eyes landed on Sierra’s sword and he continued. “The ice crystal Rapier, a fine weapon.”

However that was it, the conversation never changed as we left the store. It almost seemed unnatural.

Both Toa and Sierra tilted their heads at Roberts’ strange appearance.

“Sir, let me first return this.”

Upon exiting the store Roberts returned the snake sword.

As I was handed the snake sword, I realized something must have happened with the appraisal.

“The swords worth cannot be determined here.”

“Can’t be determined?”

“What do you mean, is it because it’s legendary class?” Sierra asked.

“No they can measure the value up to legendary class here. In other words, the sword is at least a mythic class weapon.”

Well, I hadn’t exactly doubted the worth of something Shawn had been using.

“I see.”

“Mythic class? It’s the first time I’ve seen anything like that.”

“It’s the first time I’ve seen this as well.”

“Are mythic class items that rare?”

“Not exactly rare. Mythic items don’t appear in the market, it’s not an exaggeration to say they don’t exist.”

“Doesn’t exist? But there is a set standard for the price of Mythic items?”

“I’ve heard that if you go to the main store they have some Mythic items. Although I’ve never seen such items.”

“What does this mean?”

“Supposedly there is a standard but I don’t know whether or not it actually exists. That’s why things have fantasy levels and monsters have infinite levels. Even that clerk said as much. It’s said that you can measure the class, but strictly speaking, I have only seen things up to the legendary class. However, even that’s unreliable. ”

It seems that when it comes to monsters any above SSS haven’t been confirmed.

I thought that Roberts had something that he wanted to say about the snake sword but the conversation was over.

Although speaking of the snake sword, Shawn did tell me that if it didn’t suit me to give it to Toa. I’ve been using it for a while now without really thinking about it but, I did learn to actually use a sword.

—This sword doesn’t suit me.

“Hey Toa, if you want why don’t you use this sword? You could exchange it for your broadsword.”

“Huh? Why? It’s a mythic class item, Masamune you should use it.”

“It doesn’t seem like it suits me.”

“Even if you tell me it doesn’t suit you I can’t master it.”

“Well I was thinking of using it but it’s not a good sword for men.”

To say more, it’s not a sword for humans to use. I can’t say why I felt that way though.

“So I felt that it would suit you, Toa.”

With an unwilling expression Toa took the sword and inspected it.

However after a moment she replied with “OK” and replaced the broadsword at her hip with it.

“Huh? You’re OK with it?”

“Yeah, somehow, it’s fine.”

Did she notice something? But Toa’s expression seemed to have a sense of satisfaction.

“Sir, you’re really not greedy at all. I couldn’t give away something that valuable, I just don’t get it. I wonder how much it would sell for?”

It seemed the only thing Roberts thought about is money, but he was a merchant so it can’t be helped.

“It’s fine, there’s still over 20 million left.”

“As I thought, Sir you are a strange person. Either you’re just not greedy or you have a huge heart.”

I didn’t have a big heart, this guy had a silver tongue.

We parted with Roberts after that and were now in a carriage headed for the Capital. I felt a bit guilty, Sierra was repeatedly thanking me for the rapier.

” Don’t worry about it. If you hadn’t have let us stay at your home Toa and I would probably have ended up sleeping outside for several days with nothing to eat.”

You could say that being able to take requests only when I feel like it and being able to lead this kind of life was thanks to Sierra letting us stay at her house. It’s not an exaggeration to say that the way things are now was thanks to Sierra.

Nem had fallen asleep next to me. It seemed that coming to this unfamiliar area was tiring. Dressed in the feather robe with the wind blowing her pink hair, Toa was more beautiful now than when we had met. It was a good choice to buy the robe.
Although there wasn’t exactly anything else Toa had wanted.

In that moment having those three in front of me was like a dream. I couldn’t help thinking that way as I had been alone before this.

I couldn’t imagine going everyday wanting to die. I’m thankful for these three, from the bottom of my heart.
