It was afternoon. I came to the library to ask Elena to teach me how to read, and took a seat at an appropriate table. Elena sat down across from me.

“Then, let’s get started.”

“Please.”

Elena ran her pen across the paper. Her handwriting looked like a model, even though it was written upside down so that the Termito sitting across from her could easily see it.

After a quick lesson on each letter and its corresponding sound, Termito stretched.

“You did well. Let’s leave it at that for today.”

“I’m still okay.”

“Then, do the rest on your own, okay?”

Then Elena got up from her seat. She was probably going to prepare dinner.

It was a little uncomfortable to have Elene alone prepare the meal, but since she told me to self-study, I’ll concentrate on it for now.

“….That’s it!”

Writing letters alone is boring, of course. Then I should practice writing some words.

I write the words that come to mind on a piece of paper.

Soon, the meal was ready and Elena came to call Termito.

“Oh, you are still working hard, aren’t you?”

“Yes. I was trying to learn as much as I could before the next class.”

He smiled like a student who had been caught in a prank.

“That’s an auspicious thought. So, what were you writing about?”

“Ah.”

Elena looked at Termito’s paper and saw 2 words she knew very well written on it in messy handwriting.

Eleonora Rainblood.

Elena’s full name was written all over the paper.

“Um, this is different. I was bored with writing regular letters, so I thought I’d write some words that came to mind.”

“Hmm, so you wrote my name.”

“That’s right.”

“But that means your head is full of me, right?”

“Ah…!”

I thought I had written the words that came to my mind, but the fact that I had written nothing but Elena’s name meant that my mind was only thinking about Elena.

And I hadn’t even realized it until Elena pointed it out to me.

Termito felt his face grow hot.

“I’m so happy. I can’t believe you’re so in love with me. If you had told me a little earlier, I could have added more dishes to today’s dinner.”

Elena peeked at Termito, who was writhing in shame.

“If you don’t mind, I can wash your back today as well.”

The unexpected suggestion accelerated my heartbeat.

Can I take a bath with Elena for the second day in a row after yesterday?

The day before yesterday, I had a rough day and lost all face. I was given a chance to clear my name, but would I be able to endure it?

No, that’s not the point. I had to endure this at all costs.

The thought of Elena’s naked body flashed through my mind and my body grew hot.

If I want to regain the dignity that I have once lost, there is only one option.

“…Please take care of me.”

Termite blushed, but muttered forcefully.

After dinner, while Termito was waiting in the shower, Elena came in. He kept his composure and observed Elena’s condition.

Even through the tower, he could see that her body was so slender that it would break if he hugged her tightly. Elena’s waist was modest, but nipped in at the waist, showing that she is a full-fledged woman. Her skin is as white as snow, and a peach-colored object appeared in the towel.

When I first came to the mansion, I was excited by the beautiful furnishings, but what a surprise. The most beautiful thing in the house is Elena. In front of her, paintings, sculptures and everything else are no match for her.

I wondered if I had been staring at her too closely, and Elena looked up at me as if to provoke me.

“Hm? Did you see anything on my body?”

(Yes, I did. Two peach-colored objects!)

I shouted inaudibly in my mind.

When his eyes met Elena’s through the mirror, Elena smiled at him.

Cute. ——That’s not it!

He rouses his soul to keep calm in his mind. Termito focused all his attention on her.

Although he had been forgiven for his crude behavior yesterday, there was no guarantee that he would be forgiven a second time. On the contrary, he might be thrown out this time. That was the only thing he couldn’t bear.

No matter what happens, I’ll be strong. I’ll keep myself together. That’s what I want to be, and that’s what an adventurer should do.

Despite Termito’s struggles, Elena runs her fingers across the mirror, which had turned white from steam. Straight lines. Curved lines. Constricted lines. The lines drawn without hesitation were familiar to Termito.

—-They were letters.

When she got to that point, I understood what Elena was thinking. I see, trying to review the lecture while washing myself.

I looked at the words on the mirror.

“You did a good job today.”

Elena’s thoughtfulness was heartwarming.

Termito also ran his fingers on the mirror to write a reply.

He writes poorly written letters, not as good as Elena’s.

“Thank you.”

The shapes and sizes of the letters were different, but it seemed that Termito’s feelings had been conveyed. Elena smiled in satisfaction.

Elena then slid her fingers across the mirror. The letters were written fluently.

“Termito.”

That was Termito’s name. I wondered if this was some kind of response to the fact that I had written her name as practice.

Elena continued to write more letters.

“I tried my best to be as careful as possible.”

Elena’s proud report was adorable. I immediately wrote a reply.

“It’s very beautiful.”

I told her how I really felt. Elena’s writing of Termito’s name was very beautiful. If I could, I would have taken it home and hung it in a frame but that was not possible.

At the last I could do, I stared into the mirror to burn it into my memory.

Elena lightly stained her cheeks.

“It’s embarrassing when you stare at it like that.”

Elena’s body was fidgeting for some reason.

I wanted to write a reply to her, but I couldn’t find the right words. I cursed my poor vocabulary as I wrote the words as best as I could.

“Because it’s so beautiful.”

With his brain working at full speed, he tried to squeeze out the right words to convey his feelings.

His fingertips danced on the mirror.

“I want to keep it in my heart forever.”

Elena’s face turned bright red. She hid her body in embarrassment and sent a look of resentment through the mirror.

“Where did you learn such a pick-up line?”

I read Elena’s fluent writing, but I had no idea what she was talking about.

I looked at Elena’s face and saw that it was as red as her eyes.

I wondered if I had done something to offend her.

As I was thinking of words to apologize, I noticed Elena’s added words.

“Sukekomashi.”

Sukekomashi? I had never seen that word before, and my head froze.

When I turned to Elena, she turned her head away.

“Um, what does ‘sukekomashi’ mean?”

I couldn’t help but ask Elena, but she wouldn’t make eye contact with me.

“Elena-san?”

I called out to her again.

As for Elena, it was heartbreaking to ignore him, and she turned her body back a little apologetically.

“….It means womanizer.”

I’ve been thinking about her words in my mind.

(A womanizer? Me?)

I don’t understand what she means. I asked her again.

“What do you mean?”

“You’ll have to figure it out. That’s your homework.”

When she said that, I couldn’t ask any more questions.

After that, they left the shower without any further conversation.

When Termito returned to his room, he crawled into bed. After thinking about it for a while, he realized what Elena meant.

Even though it was through a mirror, anyone would be embarrassed to be looked at their body by the opposite sex and say things like, “It’s so beautiful.” or “I want to keep it forever in my heart.”

Thanks to this, I ended up in agony for a while because of my shame.

When Elena returned to her room after the bath, she sat down on a chair and looked at a piece of paper.

It was the piece of paper with her name written all over it that Termito had used for practice.

Elena traced each letter with her finger, and even though the writing was clumsy, she could tell that he had put a lot of thought into it.

“Teru….are you aware?”

The question without an answer melts into the darkness of the night.

After looking at it, she carefully puts it away on her desk to avoid wrinkles.
