Bai Lixin silently followed Dr. Sang and immediately noticed the sneaky heads poking out one by one.

Everyone’s eyes contained only one word: curiosity.

Bai Lixin was momentarily stunned but quickly followed Dr. Sang without hesitation.

Even when they were far away, Bai Lixin could still hear the whispers of the ability users.

—“Holy shit, our Dr. Sang is still amazing. Going out at such a late hour, it seems his charm is formidable.”

—“Well, Dr. Sang is quite attractive.”

—“Little Naia is also impressive. Many people are running after him.”

—“Tsk tsk, so, doesn’t that make this beauty the most powerful?”

Bai Lixin: “…”

They really don’t treat me like an outsider.

———————

In the live broadcast room.

[I’ll send you away, thousands of miles away.]

[Xia Chi: Audience friends, I can only help here.]

[Xia Chi: No thanks, no thanks, we are all good friends.]

[“Friends Without Anything”]

[God Xin probably knew there were tigers in the mountain, so he chose to go to the mountain. The big boss even asked Xia Chi to close the doors and windows. Isn’t that just telling him not to wait up?]

[As a language teacher, I can assure you that there is nothing wrong with your reading comprehension.]

[Tsk tsk, the boss has hidden motives.]

[The big boss’s heart is well known to passers-by. Who doesn’t know his little thoughts? Doesn’t he just want to sleep with our God Xin?”

[God Xin, run, it’s dangerous.]

——————–

“Dr. Sang, where are we going?” asked Bai Lixin.

Bai Lixin silently followed the man. They entered the familiar laboratory building, but instead of heading to the 8th floor, they descended deeper to the 15th floor.

Dr. Sang stared intently at the reflective metal elevator door in front of him. Through the silver gun-colored cold metal iron door, the young man’s somewhat puzzled expression was reflected.

There was a hint of curiosity in the beautiful eyes, making the young man appear even cuter.

With a light cough, Dr. Sang said, “Don’t you need to file with me? I keep things where I live. Do you think I live on the 8th floor? Or that I would keep all my personal belongings on the 8th floor?”

Bai Lixin was stupefied. The thought of following a man into his private area made him inexplicably nervous and slightly excited.

Seeing the young man’s subtle expression that he could hardly conceal, Dr. Sang pretended not to notice.

The elevator came to a slow stop, and as the doors opened, a pure white metal room appeared before them.

Bai Lixin looked at the spacious room and asked, “Dr. Sang, do you usually live here?”

On the fifteenth floor of the basement, there was only this one room, and its surroundings were well decorated with pure white lighting.

In the small corridor, there were a few simple potted plants that added a splash of color, brightening up the otherwise sterile and lonely environment.

The air didn’t carry the typical musty smell of being underground but instead had a faint scent of mint. If it weren’t for the fact that the elevator was descending, one would believe this floor was on the ground.

Dr. Sang had already reached the door and quickly entered a series of passwords. The heavy metal door opened with a “beep” sound.

Dr. Sang pushed the door open and stepped inside, then looked at Bai Lixin. “Come in.”

Bai Lixin expected the interior to be filled with high-tech equipment, given the metal shell and electronic door outside. However, to his surprise, the interior was simply decorated in black, white, and gray. There were no overly sophisticated testing instruments or depressing scientific decorations.

The room contained simple square sofas, coffee tables, and desks.

The room was clean and orderly, without a speck of dust.

Dr. Sang fetched a pair of brand new slippers for Bai Lixin from the shoe cabinet. Instead of going inside, he took a water bottle from the cabinet and walked to the garden corridor by the entrance to water the flowers.

The crystal water drops rolled and fell on the petals, making the flowers seem to dance with joy.

While Dr. Sang was watering the flowers, Bai Lixin changed into the slippers and entered the hall.

The room wasn’t particularly large, only slightly bigger than the dormitory Bai Lixin currently lived in.

A quick glance around revealed a panoramic view of everything in the house, except, of course, the bed room with the closed door.

The desk wasn’t set apart but stood in the corner, and behind it was an entire wall filled with books.

Bai Lixin’s attention was drawn to a photo hanging on the wall. He stood beneath the colorful photo and looked up curiously.

“That’s a group photo of all the scientific researchers on the ark,” Dr. Sang explained.

After watering the flowers and locking the door, Dr. Sang silently approached Bai Lixin.

He tiptoed to take down the large hanging photo and pointed to the sofa, saying, “I think you’d be very interested in this. Take a look on the sofa.”

Despite its angular appearance, the sofa was surprisingly comfortable to sit on.

As Bai Lixin attentively observed the photos, Dr. Sang stood up and retrieved a small iced pudding from the nearby refrigerator. He tore open the package, inserted a spoon, and handed it to Bai Lixin.

Bai Lixin took it naturally and pointed at one of the individuals in the photo with his free finger, asking, “Is this you?”

In the corner of the photo, amidst the many white coats, stood a tall and upright figure of a man. His presence overshadowed everyone else, even though he wasn’t positioned at the center of the photo. All eyes were drawn to him.

Although there was no date displayed on the photo, the fading suggested it had some history.

The man in the photo had hardly changed compared to his current self. There was no visible sign of aging.

Dr. Sang glanced at Bai Lixin and said, “This was taken when I first boarded the ark. I didn’t have my own independent laboratory back then. It’s a group photo from about twenty years ago. It was taken a few years before I established my own laboratory, which is now over ten years.”

“The reason for having this photo is that there was a power shift on the ark, and the council was born. The council members had a keen interest in scientific research and gathered nearly all the scientific researchers, resulting in this group photo.”

“Almost all the scientific personnel on the ark are in this photo.”

Dr. Sang paused and added, “But over the past twenty years, many of them have passed away.”

Reluctantly shifting his gaze from the man, Bai Lixin placed the photo in the center of the table.

In the center of the photo, a few men dressed in black military uniforms stood. Their attire and serious expressions indicated that they were members of the mysterious council.

Among the council members, in the absolute central position stood a man who appeared to be sixty or seventy years old. He had white hair, a hooked nose, sunken eye sockets, and wore a white coat that contrasted with the black military uniforms around him.

Such a position further emphasized his identity and status.

Bai Lixin casually placed the pudding on the table, leaned forward and placed his index finger on the old man in the white coat. He asked, “Who is this person? Is it Dr. Adolf?”

Dr. Sang’s gaze briefly shifted to the pudding, then he nodded and replied, “It seems to be the name.”

Bai Lixin blinked and looked over. “Why do you refer to him as ‘it’?”

Dr. Sang said disdainfully, “I never remember other people’s names and faces. I vaguely recall this name because it has been mentioned frequently. It’s as rare as it gets, but not rare enough for me to remember.”

Bai Lixin: “…”

Are you sure you don’t care about remembering and are just being careless? It seems a bit too casual to me.

Sighing helplessly, Bai Lixin focused intently. “In the photo taken over 20 years ago, he appears to be in his seventies. I remember Teacher Sally mentioning that he is almost ninety this year, and he’s still active in his nineties. You both work in scientific research, so do you meet often?”

Dr. Sang casually picked up the pudding, scooped a small piece with a spoon, and fed it to Bai Lixin’s mouth. “I’ve only seen Dr. Adolf two or three times. He has been in the underground laboratory for the past ten years, and he’s even more mysterious than me.”

Finally, the little mouse ate the pudding.

Suddenly, a cold and smooth taste of soft milk filled Bai Lixin’s mouth, leaving him stunned for a moment before he started chewing.

After swallowing, just as he was about to speak, another piece of pudding with a strong milk flavor was delivered.

Bai Lixin secretly glared at the man but had no choice but to eat it again.

Even his expressions while eating and glaring were obedient and cute. ^-^

No wonder some ability users like to keep pets. Raising humans feels good and pleasing to the eye.

It wasn’t until Bai Lixin swallowed the whole piece of pudding and held down the man’s hand, which was about to move again, that he quickly said, “Enough, I can’t eat anymore, Dr. Sang.”

Dr. Sang put the package away on the coffee table, lazily sinking into the soft sofa behind him with his arms crossed, and looked at the young man who had reddish cheeks. “What did you want to say just now?”

Bai Lixin: “Uh…”

What was he trying to say just now? Being fed so much had confused him.

——————–

In the live broadcast room.

[Wooooooow! Damn, the big boss suddenly unlocked a new setting.]

[Strange, why do I find God Xin, who is 1.8 meters tall, so cute?]

[I’ve noticed that God Xin’s height is relative. When standing with others, I think God Xin is really dominant and cool. But once he stands next to the big boss, he instantly becomes a little princess. Only the boss’s confidence and stature can rival God Xin’s and compare with him.]

[Wow! Every time I see them interact, my DNA starts throbbing. I really want them to be sweet to each other all the time, but it’s never enough.]

[Especially when the big boss secretly protects God Xin. Despite God Xin’s strength, the big boss is afraid he might encounter danger, so he secretly helps him. They are both so adorable.]

———————–

999th floor.

The man’s Adams Apple rolled, and he stood up silently, and took out an ice cream from the refrigerator.

He bit off one-fifth of the milk-white ice cream in a single bite, and the cold milk flavor instantly filled his mouth, tempering the boiling blood within him.

Then he took a sip of red wine.

The strange taste mixed in his mouth—the faint milky fragrance like the soft body scent of youth and the hot and mellow aroma of the wine, reminiscent of youthful enthusiasm.

He let out a deep breath, playing with the pink-purple pearl necklace that he could hardly let go of, his drunken eyes fixed on the screen.

It had only been a few days, but every cell in his body screamed and longed for the young man on the screen.

The young man was like a poppy. He knew his eyes too well. When he saw Dr. Zombie’s gaze through the screen, he knew that the man was also finished.

You fool, why are you being pretentious?

He truly hoped that the young man would come back soon or that he could go back in.

—————————

It seemed impossible to expect this face-blind man to know the names of the people in the photos. Bai Lixin remembered each person in the photos one by one and then looked at the man again.

For a long time, the man had been staring at him.

His dark eyes were deep and unfathomable, yet his expression remained calm and composed, making it impossible to guess what he was thinking.

Normally, these eyes should have been devoid of emotion, but as they moved from the top of Bai Lixin’s head to his feet, he had the illusion that he had nothing to hide in front of the man.

It felt as if the man’s gaze had stripped him of his clothes entirely.

His heart trembled slightly, and he tried his best to remain calm as he asked, “Dr. Sang, where is the map?”

The man smiled faintly and looked away. “Follow me.”

Then, the man got up and walked towards the only closed room, gesturing for Bai Lixin to join him.

They were clearly an old couple, yet Bai Lixin’s hands and feet trembled uncontrollably.

He couldn’t see inside, but he could guess the purpose of the room with ease.

Sure enough, as he followed Dr. Sang into the room, he immediately spotted a not-too-large, pure white bed.

He stood at the door, hesitating whether to enter or not.

Dr. Sang went straight to the bedside, opened a drawer, took out a book, and found a map inside.

He waved the map in his hand toward Bai Lixin at the door. “Here it is, take it.”

Despite his words, he made no move to give it up, apparently waiting for Bai Lixin to come and take it himself.

Bai Lixin’s eyes flickered slightly, but he finally tentatively stepped forward.

Holding the edge of the map with both hands, he tried to appear more humble and respectful. “Thank you, Dr. Sang.”

He applied a little force with his fingers, but the map didn’t budge.

The man held onto the map with one hand and showed no intention of letting go.

Bai Lixin attempted to appear innocent. “Dr. Sang, please let go.”

“I can give you the map,” the man’s voice sounded extremely cold in the narrow room, “but I didn’t say I would give it to you for free.” Bai Lixin withdrew his hand and looked up at the man. “Then what do you want?”

The man replied, “Answer a few questions for me, and once I know what I want to know, I’ll consider giving you the map.”

As he spoke, he casually tossed the map onto the bedside table and stepped forward, enveloping the young man in his shadow.

The two of them stood close, so close that a slight movement from either of them would bring them even closer.

A strong sense of oppression suddenly descended, and Bai Lixin unconsciously swallowed, instinctively stepping back.

The man’s eyes flashed, and he instantly grabbed the young man’s arm, blocking his retreat. “The first question is the same one I asked before: Who are you? You suddenly appeared in this world, and others have naturally accepted your existence. What are you? A higher-dimensional being? Or something even more mysterious?”

Although the question hit the mark, Bai Lixin remained calm.

Dr. Sang was present during their conversation in the underground laboratory. With his intelligence, he must have already deduced the truth.

Combined with their conversation tonight in the dormitory, his words had already hinted at their differences. It was inevitable for Dr. Sang to find out. It was normal for him to ask, and it would be strange if he didn’t.

Bai Lixin quickly regained his composure. “If I tell you our true identity, will you lock us up like guinea pigs and subject us to experiments like those scientists did before?”

“No,” the man answered Bai Lixin directly and emphatically, without hesitation.
