Several people sat around the thick, round, red table, while eleven movie tickets obediently lay on its surface.

The bright and clean tabletop, covered with oil and wax, reflected the overhead light, causing the faces of the people at the table to appear blurred.

The rigorous and dignified Zhou Guang who meticulously buttoned his shirt to the top, calmly put down the pen he was writing with and said, “Allow me to summarize the situation briefly. First, there is no doubt that Samael appeared in the game lobby. Although he vanished inexplicably, there should be nothing wrong with these movie tickets and my records.”

Zhou Guang flipped through his notebook, turning several pages. “A good memory is not as reliable as a bad pen. I have a habit of recording in my notebook, and according to my habit, Samael does exist in my notebook.”

Lin Jue nodded solemnly, “Indeed, even without a written record, I can clearly remember him.”

Zhou Guang gently capped his pen, making a crisp sound. “After our two days of confirmation, everyone except the person holding the movie ticket has lost their memory of Samael. We also know the name on the movie ticket is [Paradise Cinema] from a beta test copy. The movie ticket serves as the medium, so there is no need to say more. The question is, what is the purpose behind these movie tickets left for us? Is it to invite us into this beta test game or is there another motive?”

A moment of incomprehensible silence fell upon the round table.

Bai Lixin twisted the Rubik’s Cube with one hand, his eyes silently sweeping across the crowd.

There were 11 movie tickets on the table, yet only 9 people occupied the round table: Song Yuantian, Hongyue, Lin Jue, Emil, Zhou Guang, Xia Chi, Li Cancan, Liang Xi, and himself.

Only he and Xia Chi have two extra movie tickets.

Emil, the blonde magician who had a close relationship with Samael, fidgeted and played with the poker cards in his hand. His face appeared both numb and relieved.

Emil was once considered Samael’s boyfriend, though Samael never explicitly stated it. However, Emil vehemently denied their relationship, wishing to sever all ties with Samael.

When they first met over two years ago, Emil was on the 200th floor. Now, after more than two years, Emil had advanced to the 400th floor, nearing the 500th floor.

In the game lobby, time remained static. Regardless of how many years passed, their appearances and ages remained unchanged from when they first entered. Thus, after more than two years, Emil looked the same as he did when they first met.

His long, straight golden hair hung down to his waist, and his facial features exuded an air of nobility fit for a court aristocrat.

Emil didn’t appear worried about Samael’s disappearance; instead, he felt a sense of relief.

Feeling Bai Lixin’s gaze on him, Emil immediately froze. He quietly put away his poker cards and obediently retreated to a corner.

Bai Lixin shifted his gaze.

Song Yuantian’s complexion seemed to have improved since his return. Although he still looked thin, the dark circles under his eyes had disappeared. While his complexion remained pale, it was much better than his previous appearance, which resembled that of a lifeless person.

Song Yuantian obediently placed his hands on his thighs, behaving like a well-behaved primary school student.

His cheeks had a faint blush, and his eyes occasionally glanced sideways, his whole body emanating a faint pink aura.

Xia Chi whispered in Bai Lixin‘s ear, “Tsk tsk, President Song’s expression reminds me of a phrase, brother.”

Bai Lixin looked at Xia Chi suspiciously.

Xia Chi chuckled and mysteriously said, “Love is a panacea. It not only cures all ailments but also prolongs life.”

Bai Lixin’s smiled, and his gaze shifted to President Song’s side.

Seated next to Song Yuantian was a stunning woman exuding an imposing aura. She had big, black, curly hair, gorgeous features, and an awe-inspiring presence. She was taller than Song Yuantian even in high heels, and had an estimated height of 1.75 meters.

She appeared to be around twenty-five or twenty-six years old, with slightly upturned fox-like eyes capable of seducing anyone.

Although she didn’t possess the same facial features as the Zombie Queen, a single glance confirmed they were the same person.

The atmosphere felt peculiar.

Hongyue rested her chin on her hand, her gaze fixed on Song Yuantian. Sensing Bai Lixin’s gaze, she slowly turned her chin to face him, her peach blossom eyes seemingly smiling yet holding a hidden meaning.

Bai Lixin calmly smiled and withdrew his scrutiny.

‘Tsk, this couple is intriguing.’

The sound of flipping paper resonated in the quiet conference of the Core Fire Guild. While the coffee shop on the first floor was convenient, it lacked privacy due to the large number of people. Therefore, they chose to communicate here for anything important.

The sound immediately grabbed everyone’s attention. They followed the sound and saw Zhou Guang had stopped on a certain page. “Regarding this beta test copy, I discovered some clues in the library on the 350th floor,” he said.

“There’s a book called ‘Three Hundred Years of Immersive Horror Copies’ that mentioned the closed beta copy in the introduction. It should be the only book referencing a closed beta copy.”

“At the game’s inception, there weren’t as many copies available. To test the players’ tolerance for difficulty, the system immediately selected some players for the beta test. However, due to various accidents, the first batch of beta testing was terminated prematurely.”

Li Cancan raised her head curiously and asked, “What accident?”

Zhou Guang replied, “The book doesn’t provide a detailed description, but it suggests that it was something unfortunate.”

“The book introduced the beta test and mentioned a specific example called [Paradise Cinema].”

Everyone’s eyes shifted to the movie tickets.

Zhou Guang explained, “According to the book, this copy is set in a movie theater called Paradise Cinema. It’s a cursed place where different movies play randomly in the silent night. If someone watches these movies at that time, they get sucked into the film and can only leave after completing its interpretation.”

Li Cancan asked, “So, if they leave the movie, does it count as clearing the copy?”

Zhou Guang shook his head and said, “I’m not sure. The book only briefly mentioned the rules, and it didn’t explain the clearing process. But it’s unlikely to be that simple.”

Xia Chi interjected, “Simple? What if we encounter something like ‘The Shining’ or ‘The Midnight Bell’? Can we survive?”

Li Cancan jokingly advised, “Xia Chi, I suggest you not be a crow mouth.”

Bai Lixin scanned the crowd and focused on Emil, who seemed uneasy. He asked, “Emil, do you know something? You were close to Samael. Did he share any information with you?”

Caught off guard, Emil froze for a moment and tried to evade the question. He nervously replied, “He often tells me stories.”

Everyone looked puzzled.

Emil continued, blushing, “He likes to talk about ‘choices.’ I don’t know what’s wrong with him. Whenever we’re together at night, he pulls me into a room and starts telling stories about angels, fallen angels, the Garden of Eden, and God the Father. It goes on all night, even if I don’t show much interest.”

Hongyue, intrigued, asked with a smirk, “So, you spent the night together, and all you did was listen to stories?”

Emil blushed, nodded and said, “Yeah.”

Hongyue chuckled and remarked, “Well, I’m not sure if he’s a gentleman or just strange.”

Song Yuantian suddenly thought of something and secretly straightened his shoulders, revealing his thin but straight back.

Xia Chi asked with curiosity, “What kind of stories did he tell you? Were they so captivating that you listened all night?”

Emil replied, “He told stories about angels, fallen angels, the Garden of Eden, and God the Father. There was no specific plotline; he just remembered what to tell. Sometimes, he repeated the same stories multiple times. It almost felt like he was talking to himself rather than interacting with me.”

Xia Chi asked, “Then why didn’t you leave?”

Emil replied mournfully, “I was afraid. Once I had thoughts of leaving, he would tie me up with the intention of keeping me there.”

He hesitated and continued, ”And… he gave me so many things. Every time he finished a story, he would give me a bunch of item cards. I lost everything playing poker before, so I needed the money.”

Everyone: “…”

Well, he bowed to capitalism.

“But I remember him saying something strange,” Emil tried to recall. “He said, ‘The truth is behind the door of life, and you must open the right door to win.’ He mentioned finding the door of life hidden in the movie.”

The cryptic sentences made the group even more confused.

Zhou Guang carefully recorded these two sentences, circled the word “door,” pointed to the name of the movie on the movie ticket, and said, “Door. That’s right.”

Lin Jue crossed his arms and leaned on the sofa with his legs crossed up and down, asking, “But even if Samael wants us to enter this movie theater with movie tickets, this copy has already been out of service during the beta test. How do we get in?”

Bai Lixin suggested, “First of all, make sure that everyone with movie tickets is here.”

Bai Lixin then turned to Song Yuantian and asked, “President Song, how much do you know about Samael?”

Song Yuantian put away the pink bubbles and replied seriously, “I met him when I took a newcomer to a copy. He was outstanding at the time and hadn’t joined a guild, so I invited him. He’s usually mysterious and rarely attends guild activities or meetings. But whenever he’s assigned a task, he completes it satisfactorily. Although he’s mysterious, he’s a reliable person. I once asked him about his home, not to check his background, but because our guild has a tradition of recording members’ information in case any issues arise. His registration mentioned something subtly, just four words: the city of hell.”

“At that time, I didn’t think much of it and assumed he didn’t want to reveal his true identity, so I didn’t ask further questions.”

Angels, fallen angels, the city of hell, the Garden of Eden, God the Father, Samael, and the fuzzy phantoms of wings that he had vaguely seen.

As the conversation continued, various words and details started to pile up, revealing Samael’s true identity.

Bai Lixin examined the movie tickets and slowly said, “Samael is likely not a real player but an NPC who somehow made his way from a copy to the game lobby. Perhaps his cloak perfectly concealed his identity, preventing the system from detecting him.”

“But once his face was exposed, the system recognized the error and sent him back to his original world.”

Hongyue exclaimed, “So this Samael may truly be the fallen angel who represents “wrath” in the Seven Deadly Sins.”

Surprise flashed in everyone’s eyes, but they quickly calmed down, acknowledging that this was the most plausible explanation.

Lin Jue raised his eyebrows and asked, “Then why did he spend so much time in the game lobby? From which copy did he come? It’s incredible that an NPC could come out of a copy. How did he manage it?”

Bai Lixin held up a movie ticket and replied, “To answer these questions, we may have to enter this closed beta test copy. So, does anyone want to quit?”

Emil stretched out his hand tentatively, looked around, but found no one expressing their desire to quit. He retracted his hand with embarrassment.

After a moment, Bai Lixin said, “If none of you want to quit, please refrain from participating in other copies for the next few days. I’ll figure out a way for us to enter the closed beta copy.”

Emil hesitated to speak but eventually kept quiet.

Hongyue was the first to stand up, pulling Song Yuantian along. “If there’s nothing else, let’s go back first.” Lin Jue followed suit, and Emil, with his hands tied, hesitated for a moment before joining them, still holding his movie ticket.

In the end, only Bai Lixin and the remaining five people were left in the room. Xia Chi stared at the two movie tickets in front of him in a daze. “Brother, why do you and I have two tickets? Did Samael’s hand slip and he made a mistake?”

Bai Lixin spun the Rubik’s Cube in his hands faster, glanced at the puzzled Xia Chi, and casually said, “Maybe he’s just blind. I have something to take care of outside. You all keep busy.” After saying goodbye to the others, Bai Lixin left the Core Fire Guild headquarters.

Guilds had the option to build their own headquarters on specific floors, but the choices were limited to safe entertainment areas such as the 1st, 50th, and 100th floors etc.

For the top guilds, they tend to choose floors around the middle such as the 400th floor. Although it was on the 400th floor, any member could take the dedicated elevator to reach the designated floor.

However, for those players who are not originally on the required floor, even if they came to this floor, their options were limited to entering their own guild. Participating in recreational activities, for example, was strictly prohibited.

The Core Fire Guild chose a relatively modest floor, the 150th floor.

Bai Lixin entered the elevator and quickly pressed the button for the 1st floor. As the numbers rapidly changed, the elevator stopped steadily and quickly on the 1st floor.

It was eleven o’clock in the evening, and although players couldn’t leave the tower, they could still see the time and weather outside through the glass doors and windows.

The 1st floor had the drinking and leisure area. There was a coffee shop where Bai Lixin and the others often gathered, as well as a bar that only opened late at night.

Bai Lixin stood in the hall for a moment, then turned and walked towards the unfamiliar bar.

The bar was dimly lit, with players sitting in groups of two or three in the corners. Some rested their heads on the table, while others sought solace in alcohol.

Melodious piano sounds filled the air, providing a moment of tranquility in the late night. Perhaps only occasional bouts of drunkenness could ease the tension in players’ hearts.

Bai Lixin stood at the bar’s entrance for a couple of seconds before making his way inside.

Behind the bar, an NPC wearing an eagle-head mask skillfully mixed drinks for the guests. The cold silver container rotated in his hand, as if performing some lost technique.

When Bai Lixin approached, the bartender had just finished mixing a glass of wine and pushed the layered blue and white liquor towards the guest, saying in a cold mechanical voice, “Guest, your deep sea temptation is ready.”
