[But the young master is really too stupid; his brain is like a smashed watermelon, only a ball of watery juice.]

[I like this tutor very much because he often praises me as a genius and smart. The master asked the tutor about his son’s progress and whether he had made any improvements. After hesitating for a long time, the tutor politely replied, “The eight apertures have been opened and the seven apertures have been opened.”]

[Upon hearing this, the master was very happy and felt that he had found someone to succeed him, that the young master is truly enlightened. However, I was laughing foolishly on the side.]

[The master asked me why I was laughing, and I replied that I was happy for the young master.]

[But in reality, I was laughing at the teacher’s words. If the eight apertures are opened and the seven apertures are opened, it is impossible to understand anything. The young master is truly an idiot, but such an idiot happens to be my young master.]

—————————

[December 8]

[Today is my birthday again, and it is also the young master’s birthday. Now no one will ever forget my birthday because the master let me celebrate his son’s birthday along with him. So, besides congratulating the young master, everyone will also congratulate me in passing.]

[There are so many people today; I have never seen so many people on my birthday. But I am not happy because I know that December 8th is not my real birthday; it is just the day when the Lord purchased me. Since it was the young master’s birthday that day, and I was a gift for the young master, they don’t remember my actual birthday. They consider the day of my purchase as my birthday.]

[Master seems to have accepted the reality that the young master is a waste. He took me aside and earnestly said that he never regarded me as a servant, but always considered me his half-son, and asked me to take care of the young master after he passed away.]

[The young master also said that he regarded me as an inseparable playmate and brother since childhood.]

[I thanked them happily, but in my heart, I never forgot the look in My Little Pony’s eyes when she looked at me back then.]

[I know, I have always been like it.]

[The only difference is that I am more useful now.]

[It’s so annoying. Why is my master such a waste? How can someone as smart and excellent as me only be a servant? How much better would it be if it were the other way around?]

———————

Bai Lixin quickly flipped through the diary; the last few pages were written a few days ago, detailing their preparations for departure.

He calmly stood up, placed the finished diary back in the suitcase, and slowly packed his belongings.

The identity of a destitute nobleman was just something he made up temporarily on the bus. No matter how good he was, he couldn’t just coincidentally have this identity.

The only explanation was the peculiar resilience of this movie itself.

When they revealed their identities, perhaps a genuine destitute nobleman actually existed in a distant town that did not appear in the movie.

And he genuinely possessed the identity of a destitute noble servant.

The diary was not recorded every day. Sometimes it had entries every few days, sometimes weeks, sometimes months, and occasionally there was a gap of one or two years.

Based on the diary, his true character was someone who despises his master and was unwilling to be a low-level character.

He thought the three of them had the healthiest relationship, but he didn’t expect the movie’s powerful restorative power to create distinct contradictions among them.

If this was the case for his identity, then there may be things surrounding Emil and Hongyue that lead them to realize their characters.

He figured it out; each of the 19 people had a secret that couldn’t be revealed.

No one was a fuel efficient lamp.

But there was another point that concerned Bai Lixin a little. The three of them were not actually such characters.

Even if the movie portrayed them with such perfect character designs, as players, they would never fall into certain traps, and they would never adhere to the character settings. Was it necessary for this character to be flawlessly designed?

Or perhaps the perfection of this character was just the most routine operation of this movie, without any purpose?

Bai Lixin pondered for a moment, then opened the door and walked out.

Walking to the door of Room 208, he knocked.

Ten seconds later, the door opened, and Hongyue, still wearing a suspender skirt, looked at Bai Lixin with a half-smile and said, “Baby Xinxin, you’re here. Come in quickly.”

Bai Lixin: “…”

He walked into the room slowly, changed into a pair of slippers, and said, “Miss, let me pack your luggage for you.”

——Let me take a look at your luggage!

Hongyue was momentarily stunned after catching Bai Lixin’s gaze, then she pointed to the hall and said, “Oh, it’s right there. Pack it up.”

Bai Lixin walked to the hall and stopped in front of a beautiful suitcase.

Bending down to open the suitcase, he found a few beautiful clothes, skincare products, and cosmetics, but no diary.

Bai Lixin pursed his lips and stood up. When he looked up, he saw Hongyue leaning lazily against the wall, looking at him thoughtfully.

Bai Lixin and Hongyue exchanged glances, and Bai Lixin asked, “Miss, is this the only suitcase you brought?”

Hongyue nodded and replied, “Yes, only this one. I’ve already packed everything except for underwear.”

Bai Lixin said, “Alright, then I’ll help you hang up your clothes.”

After finishing packing Hongyue’s suitcase, Bai Lixin proceeded to the third floor without pause.

To his surprise, there was no diary in Hongyue’s suitcase that would indicate her character. Could his guess be wrong?

The layout of the rooms on the third floor mirrored that of the second floor, with the exception of a shining golden door at the end. The sight of the golden door immediately caught Bai Lixin’s attention as he stood on the stairs.

Apart from the golden room, there were ten other rooms facing each other on the third floor.

In addition to Richard and Emil, the third floor was also occupied by the elderly couple, the philanthropist couple, and three members of the actor group.

Bai Lixin knocked on room 304, Emil’s room. When Emil saw him, he briefly hesitated before stepping aside to let Bai Lixin enter.

Similar to what he did in the Hongyue’s room, Bai Lixin discreetly searched through Emil’s luggage while pretending to pack it.

Unfortunately, there was no diary in Emil’s suitcase either; it was filled only with clothes.

Seeing Bai Lixin packing his luggage proficiently, Emil felt somewhat embarrassed.

As Emil was about to take over and tidy up his belongings, Bai Lixin glanced at him, causing Emil to immediately freeze.

Emil hesitated for a moment before quietly asking, “Is it not allowed for us to have normal conversations when there are no outsiders present?”

Bai Lixin looked meaningfully at the ceiling and replied, “Master, I understand that you see me as family, but there is still a distinction between a master and a servant. Even within the confines of a bedroom, you are still my master. We should exercise caution.”

Emil’s expression changed slightly, and after a moment of hesitation, he reluctantly uttered two words, “Okay, understood.”

———————

After leaving Emil’s room, as Bai Lixin was about to descend the stairs, a door creaked open behind him, halting his movement.

It was Richard who called out to him.

“Mr. Bai Lixin?”

Bai Lixin walked over upon hearing Richard’s voice and greeted him, “Hello, Mr. Richard.”

Richard’s gaze seemed unsettled as he held onto the door frame with his oil-painted fingers, faint blue veins visible on the back of his hand.

“After you carried my wife into the room earlier,” Richard began cautiously, after a few seconds of contemplation. “Did anything happen?”

Bai Lixin covertly glanced at Richard, who had just finished washing up and was clad in a thick, pure white bath towel, his wet hair clinging to his head.

The clear water not only cleansed the sweat from his body, but also the radiance from his face.

Dark circles beneath his eyes indicated a lack of sleep for several days.

Bai Lixin replied politely, “Mr. Richard, please rest assured that I would not engage in any improper behavior. I simply placed Miss Jia’et in her room and returned to mine. There is nothing between us. Please be reassured and not misunderstand.”

“No, no, no,” Richard hurriedly waved his hands. “That’s not what I meant. Did she talk to you about anything?”

After pretending to think for a couple of seconds, Bai Lixin responded, “We engaged in an interesting conversation for a while. We discussed topics such as the philosophy of life.”

Richard’s expression flickered, and a hint of guilt flashed in his eyes as he inadvertently said, “Well, Miss Jia’er is like this. Sometimes the topics she talks about are too profound, and many of us can’t understand them. You don’t need to delve too deeply, just do your own thing.”

Bai Lixin nodded politely and replied, “Okay, thank you for the reminder.”

Glancing discreetly inside through Richard’s shoulder, Bai Lixin noticed that the lights in the hall had been extinguished, with a lamp as the only lighting.

Inside the hall, there was an easel with a tilted drawing board. From his vantage point, Bai Lixin could only vaguely make out a few strokes of golden paint.

Bai Lixin turned to Richard and asked, “Mr. Richard, is there anything else? If not, I will go down to rest.”

“Oh, no, nothing more,” Richard hurriedly replied. “I just wanted to ask you to take care of Miss Jia’er. I apologize for the inconvenience.”

Bai Lixin nodded again and said, “It’s okay. Then I will go downstairs.”

As Bai Lixin walked away, Richard gritted his teeth and called out again, “Mr. Bai Lixin, Miss Jia’er and I are not from the same world. Her perspective on things is completely different from ours, even her taste in food. Just make sure you truly listen to what she says.”

Bai Lixin smiled politely and continued down the stairs.

Observing the empty staircase, Richard let out a secret sigh. He knew that most people wouldn’t understand. How could they guess that the seemingly beautiful lady was actually a soul-devouring demon?

From the moment he stepped out of the car, Richard noticed Jia’er’s gaze fixed on Bai Lixin. Even when he hugged her, he could feel her uncontrollable trembling, like the excitement of a hunter seeing its prey.

Originally, Richard was assigned to room 203, but Jia’er switched rooms with him and intentionally moved closer to Bai Lixin.

Compared to her disdain when they signed the contract, she had taken the initiative to approach Bai Lixin.

Poor boy, he had become the target of a treacherous demon. May God bless him.

———————

On the second floor was M. Nick’s family, Hongyue, Jia’er, an actress, and Bai Lixin.

The corridor on the second floor was eerily quiet, even when he stepped on the carpet, no sound was made. The silence enveloped the dimly lit hallway.

Bai Lixin returned to his room to freshen up, and by the time he went to bed, it was already ten o’clock in the evening.

Based on the few rooms he had entered, all the rooms were furnished similarly. It was commonly believed that a bed that was too soft wasn’t conducive to sleep, but the beds here were made of an unknown material that made one feel as if they were floating on clouds in the sky upon lying down. The whole body felt comfortable and relaxed, and limbs stretched easily.

For some unknown reason, as soon as Bai Lixin touched the pillow, drowsiness washed over him. He intended to listen to the sounds outside at night, but after lying on the bed for a few minutes, he lost consciousness.

At some point, the lights in the corridor was turned off, and darkness and silence engulfed the fantastical resort.

In the dark corridor, shadows seemed to flicker by…

———————–

When the first ray of sunlight outside illuminated the bed, Bai Lixin abruptly opened his eyes. His gaze was clear, and he felt wide awake. Giving a complex look at the soft bed beneath him, Bai Lixin quickly got up and entered the bathroom.

Even though he had slept for a long time the previous night, he still felt very tired. Not to mention the buzzing in his head, a sense of fatigue permeated his entire body, making it difficult to muster any energy.

Turning on the faucet, Bai Lixin scooped up a handful of cold water and splashed it on his face. The refreshing coolness instantly dispelled the numbness in his head, and he became more alert.

He looked up at his reflection in the mirror, and the person staring back at him mirrored his actions. It was clearly himself, yet a sense of strangeness and detachment lingered.

Suddenly, he reached out to touch the mirror, and the mirrored image extended its hand as well. Slowly, their hands met, and the two young men locked eyes from opposite sides of the mirror.

Bai Lixin scrutinized the person in the mirror, and after a minute, he finally realized where the strangeness came from. It was the detachment of identity.

Although his memory was slightly hazy, he vaguely recalled the dream he had the previous night. It felt more like a documentary than a dream, depicting the life of “Servant Bai Lixin.”

He dreamt of “Servant Bai Lixin” experiencing one lonely birthday after another without celebration, and even remembered the mention of the Little Pony in “Servant Bai Lixin’s” diary.

Just moments ago, he had momentarily fallen into a cognitive error, believing that he truly was a servant to a destitute nobleman, that he had an isolated childhood, and even owned a horse named Baoli.

Bai Lixin’s breath hitched, and he repeatedly splashed his face with water, trying to wake himself up from the character setting of “Servant Bai Lixin.”

He wasn’t a fictional character from a movie.

He wasn’t “Servant Bai Lixin.”

His name was Bai Lixin, and this place wasn’t the real world—it was merely a copy of a horror game.

After reminding himself three times, Bai Lixin’s bewildered gaze returned to its usual calmness. By the time he wiped the cold water off his face with a towel, the reflection in the mirror had transformed back into the familiar Bai Lixin, the one who was cheerful and knew his own identity.

Now he fully understood the horror of this thrilling movie’s true persistence.

It’s not that the outsider would be discovered within the movie, once someone lost themselves in the movie and embraced their assigned role, it would be nearly impossible to return.

How could a person who didn’t even know their own roots ever find a way back?

The suggestive power of this movie should not be underestimated. It was only the first night, and even he had almost been ensnared.

Were Emil and Hongyue alright?

Bai Lixin quickly returned to the bedroom, put on his clothes. He was about to go out to check on Hongyue and Emil’s condition when he suddenly heard a dull knocking sound from the wall next to the bedroom.

His action of putting on the vest paused for half a second, and then he resumed his movements.

He walked to the entrance, took the keys, put on his shoes, and instead of looking for Jia’er in the other room, he knocked on Hongyue’s door.

He knocked for about twenty seconds before he heard a faint sound from inside, “Coming, coming, stop knocking. It’s so noisy.”

Hongyue’s familiar voice came from behind the door, and after about ten seconds, the door opened with two simultaneous creaking sounds.

Indeed, two doors.

Hongyue stared at Bai Lixin with disheveled hair, a bewildered look on her face.

And across from Hongyue’s room, Jia’er opened her door, wearing a simple dress and not wearing a veil.

Jia’er had an exquisite face that was neither entirely feminine nor entirely masculine. Although her facial contours and features were softened, she still bore a striking resemblance to Dijia.

Jia’er, sitting in a wheelchair, maintained the posture of raising her hand to open the door. She stared coldly at the two people in front of her, with a very displeased expression on her face.

Hongyue obviously hadn’t fully woken up yet. “Good morning, Bai Lixin. Do you know that it’s rude to forcefully knock on a lady’s door without giving her time to freshen up? If this were ancient times, you would have to marry me.”

The expression on Jia’er’s face at the other door became even more unpleasant.

She stared fixedly at Bai Lixin’s back, tapping her fingers impatiently on the high-end wooden door.

The crisp knocking sound echoed in Bai Lixin’s ears, as if needles were dancing on his forehead.

Bai Lixin felt a chill down his spine, and he gulped subconsciously.

What the hell was this oppressive feeling?!

What’s wrong with knocking on the door? Was it wrong for him to be concerned about his teammates?!
