Emil skillfully manipulated the cards between his fingers, making them vanish from his palm and reappear on the back of his hand in a magical fashion. He replied, “I overslept today. I have no idea how it happened. Once my head touched the pillow yesterday, I fell asleep instantly. When I woke up today, the sun was already high in the sky.”

“Then, as I was leaving my room, I bumped into the philanthropist couple. They seemed genuinely kind and just offered their support,” Emil recounted, watching the departing backs of the couple with envy in his eyes. “It would be wonderful if we could be wealthy like them. Then we wouldn’t bring shame to our family and wouldn’t have to bow our heads in front of others. I truly envy them.”

Hongyue frowned and glanced at Bai Lixin. In just one night, Emil seemed to have fully embraced his role. Hongyue observed Emil with a mixture of confusion and a hint of fear stirring within her.

When she woke up this morning, she felt a lingering confusion about her true identity for quite some time. If it weren’t for Bai Lixin’s reminder and the chilling gaze of the big boss that snapped her out of it, she might have misinterpreted her character design.

However, something felt off. Even with a transformation, it shouldn’t happen as quickly as it did for Emil, right?

As Hongyue gazed at Emil, Bai Lixin also had his eyes fixed on him. He vividly remembered that Emil was a magician and a fraudster.

A fraudster’s primary skill lies in habitually questioning everything while simultaneously enchanting and deceiving others. Theoretically, fraudsters are the least likely to be easily assimilated.

Bai Lixin’s attention fell on Emil’s hands that were skillful playing with the card and a glimmer of understanding shone in his eyes.

Emil the fraudster could play cards, whereas Emil the good-for-nothing noble couldn’t.

If Emil had truly been completely assimilated, how could he play with cards?

With a spark of insight, Bai Lixin raised his head and studied Emil carefully. Emil’s eyes still displayed greed, and his expression was easily discernible, but there was a subtle vigilance hidden within his gaze.

To deceive others, one must first deceive oneself.

Bai Lixin relaxed his shoulders slightly and said, “Master, I believe we will be able to regain our former glory. Your wish is everyone’s wish.”

Emil replied, “I hope so, Bai Lixin.”

Hongyue observed them thoughtfully. Her eyes scanned over their facial features and arms, and she suddenly burst into laughter. “Let’s go!”

Initially, Emil was considered an unknown junior in her eyes, but now it seemed that he fit perfectly in this place.

No wonder Samuel had given Emil a ticket. Perhaps he had recognized Emil’s unique abilities from the start.

The invisible force at play toyed with them, and it remained unclear who was manipulating whom.

Furthermore, a big boss in women’s clothing was in the mix.

Tsk tsk, tsk, things were becoming more interesting.

—————–

Yesterday, they spent the entire afternoon in the bus and because it was their first day here, none of them did anything out of the ordinary, and even if we wanted to explore the resort, they didn’t have the chance.

So, apart from going to the dining hall and returning to their rooms, they didn’t learn much about the resort yesterday.

It wasn’t until today when they walked on the first floor that they truly understood the meaning of “beyond the heavens.”

This resort was incredibly vast. The hall was octagonal, and each side led to a corridor. The corridors were adorned with dark red-gold silk carpets, giving the impression that they stretched into the distance until they became specks.

Each corridor had dozens of rooms, and it would take an entire day to visit them all.

Furthermore, besides the first floor, there was also a second and third floor.

Emil gazed at the luminous pearls and colorful gemstones embedded in the ceiling of the corridor with envy. His expression betrayed a hint of ferocity due to greed. “My God, this place is simply heavenly. I love it.”

He eagerly rushed to the first room in one of the corridors, and impatiently opened the door with a key. His fingers trembled with excitement, and the key even slipped from his grasp and fell to the ground multiple times.

After several attempts, Emil finally managed to open the door.

As the door swung open, a dazzling golden light flooded the room, momentarily blinding everyone.

They all gathered around with curiosity.

To their surprise, the room was filled with gold!

The walls were made of gold, and the room was adorned with an assortment of golden treasures.

Even the wealthiest individuals would handle gold with care, but the owner of this resort seemed to have piled it up haphazardly, as if disregarding its value entirely.

Mrs. Nick swallowed hard and asked in a trembling voice, “Didn’t the tour guide mention yesterday that we can take whatever we find inside? Am I remembering correctly? Is it really allowed?”

A strange glimmer lit up everyone’s eyes.

“My dear lady,” Mrs. Aisli, the philanthropist, frowned and spoke, “While the tour guide may have mentioned that, we purchased tickets for a vacation, not to claim ownership of the items inside. Such behavior would bring shame upon us.”

“Our souls are of the utmost nobility, and we should not let worldly possessions tarnish our purity, don’t you agree, madam?”

Mr. Nick slowly opened his mouth and glanced at Mrs. Aisli. He gently pulled Mrs. Nick, who seemed dazed, closer to his side. “Certainly, dear Mrs. Aisli, you’ve expressed everything I wanted to say. Although we may not be royalty or military leaders, we are a respectable family in our local area. Money may come easily, but our family’s reputation must be carefully nurtured through generations. We must safeguard our family’s honor.”

Mrs. Nick acquiesced regretfully, saying, “Okay, I understand. I was just asking.”

While everyone was still fixated on the first room, Emil couldn’t contain his excitement and rushed into the second room.

Seeing Emil’s actions, Mrs. Aisli spoke slowly, “There are plenty of corridors. We don’t have to crowd into the same one. Let’s explore the next corridor, dear.” She then looped her arm through Mr. Aisli’s arm, a hint of eagerness in her gaze.

On seeing the philanthropist couple’s departure, the others also suggested splitting up.

The Nick family and the acting quartet went their separate ways, and in the blink of an eye, only Bai Lixin and four other people remained in that corridor.

The second room was also filled with golden artifacts.

Then the third, fourth, fifth…

It wasn’t until the twentieth room that the contents of the room changed from gold to gems.

In the subsequent rooms, each was adorned with precious stones of the same color.

Bai Lixin casually pushed Jia’er and explored these seemingly insignificant items, while excited cries occasionally echoed from the neighboring corridor.

Everyone was immersed in the thrill of the visit, reluctant to interrupt it even for lunch.

It wasn’t until the sun began to set outside that the tour guide suddenly appeared.

He stood in the hall, politely calling out to the guests.

Bai Lixin noticed that his voice wasn’t particularly loud, yet it reached everyone’s ears with clarity.

Hearing the call of the tour guide, everyone reluctantly stopped their explorations and made their way to the hall.

“My esteemed guests,” Thomas smiled as he glanced at each person, “It’s evident that you’ve thoroughly enjoyed today’s visit and are left wanting more. Haven’t you?”

“Yes, indeed,” Mrs. Aisli responded, “This is truly the most breathtaking place I’ve ever seen. Each room exudes a rich history and culture. I’ve never wished for time to slow down as much as I do now, so I can savor these treasures for longer.”

Mrs. Nick chimed in, determined not to be outdone, “I feel the same way. Even in the home of the world’s wealthiest individual, I haven’t encountered such an abundance of riches. I’m convinced that the resort’s owner possesses even greater wealth, but chooses to remain humble. He must be a discreet and refined gentleman, uninterested in comparisons with the outside world. I genuinely hope to meet this remarkable person one day and express my admiration in person.”

“Mrs. Nick,” Mrs. Aisli interrupted, fanning herself with a feather fan, “You’re a married woman. How can you express such explicit desires and compliments towards other men in front of your husband? Moreover, how do you know the owner of the resort is a man? The display here, including the artworks, emanates delicacy and tenderness. Perhaps the owner is a remarkable lady.”

“Hahaha!” the eldest daughter suddenly burst into laughter, the sound echoing through the air. “That’s because she hopes to seduce him shamelessly, become the owner of the resort, and revel in these treasures.”

Mrs. Nick’s face flushed crimson. She pointed at the eldest daughter and exclaimed, “Stop talking nonsense!”

The eldest daughter rolled her eyes, showing no regard for her stepmother’s feelings. “I’m not talking nonsense. Isn’t that exactly what you did before? You used your ex-boyfriend as a stepping stone to meet my father. Isn’t that right? Our family’s wealth no longer satisfies your fantasies of affluence, so you want to resort to old tricks, using my father as a means to find another wealthy family?”

“You’re no better than a weasel, you bitch!”

All eyes suddenly turned to Mrs. Nick. A subtle tension filled the air.

Mrs. Nick’s eyes welled up with tears as she tenderly clung to Mr. Nick’s side. “I married Nick because I truly love him. Look at your eldest daughter, speaking such nonsense and tarnishing my reputation. Nick, my love, please see how she disrespects me. Will you stand up for me and defend our marriage?”

Mr. Nick impatiently pushed Mrs. Nick away and greedily glanced at Bai Lixin and the others. “My eldest daughter didn’t say anything wrong. You should be more self-aware and mind your own business. Don’t make yourself sound so noboe. Just because I didn’t say it doesn’t mean I don’t know. Stay away from me, you smell like sweat.”

Mrs. Nick looked at the man next to her in shock, as if she was seeing him clearly for the first time. “When you first pursued me, you called me ‘baby’, ‘angel’, and ‘elf’ every day. You would come to my house every night, not caring that my boyfriend was in the room. You called me Juliet and yourself Romeo, saying you would love me forever. We have only been married for a month, and now you treat me like this?” Crystal-clear tears welled up in Mrs. Nick’s eyes and fell onto the soft carpet, disappearing in an instant. “You’re a liar! You lied to me!”

Nick sighed heavily, his expression looking grim. However, due to the presence of outsiders, he took a deep breath and said nothing.

In the huge hall, only the sound of Mrs. Nick’s sad weeping remained.

“Ahem,” the tour guide smiled awkwardly. “Actually, I can tell you what you want to know. Mrs. Nick guessed right. The owner of the resort is a man. And Mrs. Aisli is also correct. The owner of the resort is not only kind but also caring and gentle. However, he is shy and rarely shows up, so I’m not sure if you’ll get to meet him.”

Bai Lixin asked, “You mean the owner of the resort is here? He doesn’t delegate the management to others?”

“Of course, this is the lord’s home, so naturally, he lives here.”

Bai Lixin continued to ask, “Then where does he live?”

Everyone fell silent, their expressions turning serious.

Even Mrs. Nick stopped crying, and listened intently, waiting for the answer from the tour guide.

“Sorry, everyone, I really can’t say,” he apologized. “It’s getting late. Let’s go to the dining hall together. I heard you didn’t have lunch, so you should enjoy dinner tonight.”

Everyone averted their eyes regretfully.

On the way to the dining hall, the tour guide deliberately walked up to the eldest daughter and winked at her. “Miss, I know how much you enjoy food. We didn’t treat our guests well yesterday, so today we have prepared an extra special meal for you.”

The eldest daughter’s eyes lit up, and her heavy steps seemed to lighten.

Bai Lixin pushed Jia’er and quietly observed the people in front of them.

In his eyes, many people had changed, although it wasn’t obvious.

Some people’s loose clothes appeared bloated, some had bulging pockets, and even Mrs. Aisli, who spoke about noble souls, seemed to have gone from B cup to D cup.

They walked cautiously, guarding their bloated areas, so their walking speed was slow.

In contrast, the eldest daughter walked swiftly and disappeared through the dining hall door in an instant.

By the time everyone entered, she was already eagerly waiting to eat.

Richard, who hadn’t been seen all day, was already seated at the dining table, while the elderly couple was still absent.

Mrs. Aisli gracefully took her seat, casting a disdainful glance at the Nick family.

Clearly, noble philanthropists felt superior to nouveau riche businessmen. From the beginning, the Aisli couple had positioned themselves at a higher social status, looking down on the nouveau riche before them.

She claimed not to care about money, but she constantly hinted at her wealth and status.

Silk, a luxury for others, was fashioned into her clothing. She wore various exquisite jewelry and flaunted extensive knowledge as her capital.

Bai Lixin was almost certain that they were not only fake philanthropists but also hypocrites.

After elegantly wiping her fingers with silk, Mrs. Aisli looked up at the tour guide. “Sir, why haven’t the Oudes come down?”

“The elderly guests aren’t feeling well. We’ve delivered their meals to their rooms individually, so Mrs. Aisli, you need not worry,” the tour guide explained.

Mrs. Aisli sighed softly. “Ah, the poor couple. I truly hope they can overcome their pain and suffering soon. Husband, let’s go and visit them after dinner. Perhaps they need our help.”

Mr. Nick chimed in, “Mrs. Aisli, you’re so kind. Your compassion for the Oudes, whom you barely know, is admirable. Your efforts in helping the local poor have made quite a name for you in China. No wonder you’re called ‘The angel lost in the world’ and have received the ‘world□□□’ award.”

Aisli’s contemptuous eyes softened slightly, and she smiled with noble modesty. “Your flattery is too kind. I merely did what I should have done. I never sought anything in return. The accolades are just empty titles to me. However, others’ praise represents their kindness, and I cannot dismiss their kindness unreasonably. So, I accept the recognition and the award.”

The cycle of flattery continued.

After the meal, Bai Lixin didn’t immediately head back to the second floor but spoke with Jia’er and carried her to the third floor.

He was actually quite concerned about what had happened to the elderly couple, why they hadn’t shown up all day.

The resort provided excellent service, and there were wheelchairs on the third floor as well.

Bai Lixin placed Jia’er in a wheelchair and silently followed behind the philanthropist couple to the front of the elderly couple’s door.

The rooms of Mr. and Mrs. Oude were right next to the golden door, with one in room 305 and the other in room 306.

Mrs. Aisli first knocked on the door of room 305 for a while. When the door remained closed, she turned around and came to the front of room 306.

Just like room 305, she gently tapped on the door.

With a creaking sound, the door unexpectedly opened on its own.

Room 306 was not locked and was left wide open.

Everyone looked at each other in confusion. Mr. Aisli bravely stood at the doorway and called out, “Mr. Oude, Mrs. Oude, are you there?”

In response, there was only the hollow sound of the door creaking.

Mrs. Aisli frowned. “At their age, they could easily have health issues. What if they fainted inside? I’ll go in.”

The two of them boldly entered, with Bai Lixin pushing Jia’er closely behind, and the others following behind.

As soon as Mrs. Aisli entered the foyer, she seemed to have discovered something. She suddenly let out a scream and ran towards the hall.
