The attendant hesitated in place for two seconds, but ultimately walked in. She stood slightly cramped and tense in the corner of the hall and asked, “Sir, why did you call me? What do you want to ask?”

Bai Lixin pulled out a suitcase from the cabinet and, as he folded clothes, casually asked, “Miss Attendant, you seem quite young. Are you of legal age?”

The attendant breathed a sigh of relief, and a standard smile appeared on her face. “Oh, of course, I am of legal age. The resort is a reputable organization that doesn’t employ child labor.”

Bai Lixin replied, “Oh, I see. How old are you and when did you start working here?”

The attendant lowered her head, seemingly lost in thought.

After a few seconds, she raised her head again, smiling, “I’ve just started working here. This year marks my first year of work. As for my age, sir, it’s impolite to ask a lady her age without proper reason. I can refuse to answer, but I’ll let you know that I’m over twenty years old.”

Bai Lixin lifted his head, gripping the collar of a shirt inside the suitcase. His gaze became sharper. “You can refuse to answer, but lying is not part of your job’s principles, is it?”

The attendant looked slightly stunned. She didn’t understand why the young man in front of her had called her alone, nor did she understand how he had deduced the requirements of her job based on a few short sentences.

Could he have discovered her secret?

No, it couldn’t be possible. No one would think in that direction. How could it be?

Bai Lixin looked deeply into the attendant’s eyes, then lowered his gaze again. He neatly folded the final shirt and placed it in the suitcase, effortlessly zipping it up. He lifted the luggage, stood up, and maintained his nonchalant tone. “I’m done packing. Let’s go, Mrs. Oude.”

The attendant replied, ”Alright, we…”

But her voice abruptly stopped. One of her feet, which had been lifted, froze in mid-air. Her pupils trembled as she stared at Bai Lixin. “Wh-what are you saying, sir?”

Bai Lixin turned around, a faint smile on his face. He tilted his head and chuckled. “I said, let’s go, Mrs. Oude.”

The attendant’s face flushed. She opened her mouth as if she wanted to explain something but struggled several times without saying anything. Eventually, she simply closed her mouth, giving up on the attempt.

Bai Lixin laughed. “You can refuse to answer, but you can’t lie. It’s a nice setup.”

The attendant’s face turned purple and blue. “How did you figure it out? I’ve become so young.”

Bai Lixin replied, “Because compared to those who only believe in science, I believe that there are supernatural forces in this world that cannot be explained by science. Just like how the dead can come back to life and the living can become younger. We have angels around us, and even demons.”

“Although you’ve become younger, your bone structure hasn’t changed. Through bone structure analysis, I recognized you.”

The attendant asked, “You recognized me when we were in the restroom earlier? Is that why you asked me?”

Bai Lixin nodded. “Yes, that’s right, Mrs. Oude. Is Mr. Oude’s death related to you?”

The attendant stood still, staring at the young man in front of her. After a moment, she slowly replied, “I’m sorry, I refuse to answer that question.”

Bai Lixin’s expression didn’t show any hint of discouragement. Mrs. Oude was the first person to go missing. She was like the loose end of a sweater. Once that loose end was found, even if there were tangled knots ahead, they would be resolved easily.

Unraveling all the mysterious phenomena in front of him was just a matter of time.

After contemplating for two seconds, Bai Lixin changed the question. “For the questions I’m about to ask, do you not want to answer any of them, or will you answer depending on the situation?”

The attendant pursed her lips together. She bowed to Bai Lixin respectfully. “You are distinguished guests of the resort. If it’s a question I can answer, I will, sir. But for some questions that involve the resort’s secrets, I’m sorry, I can’t tell you.”

With the attendant’s response, Bai Lixin resumed his questioning.

Bai Lixin asked, “The first question, did Mr. Oude enter the golden room?”

The attendant replied, “Yes.”

Bai Lixin continued, “And what about you? Did you also enter the golden room?”

The attendant responded, “Initially, I didn’t enter, but later on, I did.”

Bai Lixin looked at the attendant. “What’s inside the gold room?”

This time, the attendant hesitated for two seconds. “I’m sorry, I can’t disclose that.”

Bai Lixin pondered for a moment, his eyes deep and contemplative. “Is the content inside the gold room a forbidden topic? Are you unable to speak about anything related to it?”

The attendant confirmed, “Yes, that’s correct.”

Bai Lixin asked, “Is Mr. Oude’s death related to this golden room?”

The attendant clenched her teeth and nodded firmly, answering, “Yes!”

Something flashed through Bai Lixin’s mind but disappeared before he could capture it.

He attempted to find it but searched for a long time without finding any traces. There was still some time until the agreed-upon meeting, so Bai Lixin had to give up searching for that fleeting something and focused on finding clues through the questions and answers.

Bai Lixin: “Is your current transformation also related to the gold room?”

The attendant nodded, “That’s correct.”

Bai Lixin: “Mr. Oude’s cause of death is similar to that of Mrs. Nick. So, Mrs. Nick’s death is also related to the golden room?”

The attendant affirmed, “Hmm, yes, it’s related.”

Bai Lixin: “Is the golden room… very dangerous? Can you answer that?”

The attendant replied, “I can answer that. You’re right, the golden room… is very dangerous. But no one can refuse it, and no one can escape from it.”

Bai Lixin squinted his eyes, “Will someone die tonight?”

The attendant remained silent for a long time, then nodded up and down a few times, “Yes, it’s inevitable. As long as someone goes missing, there will definitely be deaths. It’s the curse of the golden room, and no one can break free from it.”

“Everyone is trapped, and no one can leave here alive. They either remain forever or perish completely.”
