Five minutes later, Bai Lixin entered the Guild’s conference room and found it already packed with people. All of them were familiar faces—they just came from the copy an hour ago.

Bai Lixin greeted them and went straight to the empty seat in front. He sat down and asked Song Yuantian beside him, “I heard you were looking for me?”

Song Yuantian nodded and gestured in the air, conjuring several items.

When Zhou Guang saw the items in Song Yuantian’s hand, he couldn’t help but exclaim, “The tokens?”

Song Yuantian pushed three tokens in front of Bai Lixin. “I promised during the zombie copy that if you could rescue Hongyue, I would give all the tokens I have to you. I had a feeling you would want them. These are all the tokens our guild found, and they’re all yours. Don’t refuse; you need them more than I do, right? It’s what you deserve.”

Bai Lixin accepted the tokens, saying, “Since you put it that way, I’ll accept them graciously. I do need these items.”

Zhou Guang pushed up his glasses. “While we’re on the subject, let me share the information I gathered.”

“There are still 35 days left until the end of the event. It was to last a total of 60 days and it’s already been 25 days.”

“As for the tokens, there are three on each level from the 50th to 600th floors, making a total of 12 levels with tokens, resulting in 36 tokens in total.”

“Out of these 36 tokens, players have found 12.”

“One is in Xia Chi’s possession, from the 50th level. Three were previously with President Song and are now with God Xin. The remaining eight are with Little Overlord, and four are scattered across the other three guilds.”

Xia Chi took out the token from his backpack and handed it to Bai Lixin. “Brother, here’s mine too.”

Bai Lixin took the token from Xia Chi, struggling to find the right words.

‘Thank you, Xia Chi. How about you just give me the rest as well? I’m tired of trying so hard.’

Bai Lixin placed the four tokens in front of him; each one from a different floor: 50, 200, 550, and 600. To claim the grand prize, he needed the remaining eight tokens from different floors.

Zhou Guang spoke slowly, “One thing worth noting is that the tokens on the 300th floor have all been found.”

“Two of them are in Little Overlord’s possession, and the other one is with another guild.”

“When I met Little Overlord at the 400th floor cinema, he had just found one token there. So, he now has two from the 300th floor and one from the 400th floor. Which floor is the last one from?”

Zhou Guang replied, “He still has one from the 200th floor.”

Bai Lixin asked, “Are there any floors where none have been found?”

Zhou Guang answered, “None have been found on the 100th, 250th, 350th, and 450th floors.”

“I don’t know if they haven’t been released yet or if they are just well-hidden. I can guess your strategy; you want to find all tokens on these floors to have leverage against Little Overlord’s two tokens from the 300th floor.”

“God Xin, I’ll try to make contact with the guild that has the other 300th floor token and see if there’s any breakthrough.”

Bai Lixin asked, “Which guild is it?”

Zhou Guang replied, “They’re quite powerful, ranked second – the Raging Flame Guild. I tried contacting them before, but they didn’t respond. I’ll give it another shot.”

Song Yuantian added, “If it’s the second-ranked guild, they won’t be lacking in points or prop cards. It might be challenging to negotiate with them using these things.”

Xia Chi said, “They probably don’t care about our guild, considering our lower level. Can you help us contact them, President Song?”

Song Yuantian responded, “I can’t do that. Our guild has been in competition with theirs for a while. If I intervene, they might reject us outright as getting the token means their chances of winning will decrease. And lately, Sand Sea Guild’s quest for tokens has been too conspicuous; they’re probably wary already.”

Xia Chi sounded a bit disappointed, “I see, I understand.”

“Finding these tokens isn’t easy. We’re halfway through the event, and we’ve only found one-third of the total quantity.”

Hongyue added, “The rewards are generous, but obtaining these tokens won’t be a walk in the park.”

Standing up from his chair, Song Yuantian said, “I came to give you the tokens, and now that it’s done, we’re ready to leave.”

Xia Chi politely asked, “Won’t you stay a bit longer for a chat?”

Hongyue, who was halfway standing up, settled back in her seat, “Since you put it that way, we can chat a bit longer.”

Xia Chi: ???

‘ was just being polite; she doesn’t need to take it seriously.’

“Speaking of which,” Hongyue shifted the topic, looking at Bai Lixin. “I’m actually curious about the questions you asked the cinema owner in the last copy.”

“Is the cinema owner really the legendary Father God?”

Xia Chi’s memory was jogged, and he looked at Bai Lixin earnestly, “Yeah, yeah, I thought the cinema owner was some villainous mini-boss, but it turned out to be that identity, and it was all to save them. It was such an unexpected twist. What were you thinking at that moment, brother?”

Bai Lixin said, “Don’t forget, the cinema owner said one of his answers was true, and the other was false.”

“If his answer about being Father God was true, then the other answer was a lie, and he was actually giving punishment.”

Zhou Guang chimed in, “Which means, if he really is the Father God, his intention was to punish them.”

“But if he’s not the God Father, then his purpose was to rescue.”

Bai Lixin nodded, “It boils down to those two possibilities, and you can choose to believe whichever you prefer.”

Xia Chi took a moment to ponder these answers and shuddered, “I see. Your explanation gives me a chilling feeling.”

“Anyway, the copy is now sealed, so let’s not dwell on it.”

Hongyue, the skilled socializer, chatted about various topics, nearly exhausting Xia Chi and the others. After awhile, she yawned lazily, “It’s getting late; it seems we should leave now. Don’t detain us any longer.”

Xia Chi: “…”

‘Don’t try to get any polite words out of my mouth. I apologize for my ignorance earlier.’

Lin Jue was playing with his small knife while Emil seemed absent-minded.

Upon hearing Hongyue’s voice, both of them felt relieved and quickly stood up. Finally, they could leave.

Outside, there was a knocking sound on the door. Zhou Guang said, “Come in,” and a tall young man with a sturdy figure entered immediately.

When Bai Lixin saw the young man, it took him two seconds to remember that he was Li Cangshan, the special forces member he allowed into the guild last time.

Li Cangshan had strong self-discipline, and even in this civilian organization, his posture still carried their unique rigor. He stood at the door with his back straight, his gaze filled with righteousness. “There’s someone outside looking for you. Should I let him in?”

Zhou Guang asked, “Is he looking for all of us, or just God Bai or President Song?”

Li Cangshan glanced at Li Cancan’s direction with a hint of ambiguity. “He’s looking for all of you.”

Everyone looked at each other.

Zhou Guang asked, “Who is it?”

Li Cangshan replied, “A man in a cloak who claims to be your old friend. But when I asked for his name, he didn’t say.”

With a “bang”, Emil quickly stood up from his chair: “Let him in!”

Was this some kind of prank? If not, did it mean…

Li Cangshan made no movement and instead turned his inquiring gaze towards Bai Lixin.

Bai Lixin said, “Please let him in. Thank you.”

Li Cangshan nodded, “Alright, I understand. Please wait a moment.”

With that, Li Cangshan closed the door, his movements cautious and exuding an awe-inspiring solemnity.

After Li Cangshan left, Hongyue looked in the direction of the door and said, “President Bai Lixin, your guild is really a hidden dragon and a crouching tiger. The man just now is not simple.”

Bai Lixin: “You exaggerate.”

Lin Jue: “The man in the black cloak…could it be Samael?”

“We’ll find out later when he comes in,” Zhou Guang said. “Except for us, no one remembers Samael wearing a black cloak. No one would be so boring as to make such a joke.”

Hongyue chuckled, and pulled Song Yuantian to sit down: “It seems that God wants us to sit for a while longer.”

While speaking, the door was knocked again.

Zhou Guang responded, and Li Cangshan opened the door from the outside, and then a tall man wrapped in a pitch-black cloak walked in.

His whole body was wrapped in a thick cloak, and a huge hood covered most of his face except for the sharp tip of his chin.

Seeing the familiar chin and figure, Lin Jue exclaimed in surprise: “Samael?!”

Li Cancan looked behind the cloaked man: Li Cangshan’s expression was indifferent, and there was no curiosity in his eyes.

He seemed like a soldier on a mission, dedicated to completing his own task without trespassing into other matters.

Feeling Li Cancan’s gaze, Li Cangshan suddenly shifted his line of sight, and their eyes met without warning. Li Cangshan’s chestnut-colored pupils flickered, and he gave Li Cancan a faint smile.

Li Cancan quickly averted her gaze in embarrassment.

“Then I’ll go out first,” Li Cangshan looked away, and closed the door without a trace of curiosity.

Once Li Cangshan left, the conference room returned to its original closed state, but this time there was an extra person.

With both hands supporting the table, Emil looked at the cloaked man with a slight tremor in his voice, “Who the hell are you?”

A faint smile appeared under the cloak, and it shook slightly in the air as a pair of hands wrapped in bandages emerged.

The man grabbed the edge of the hood and, under the expectant gazes of everyone, slowly lifted it.

The moment he saw that face clearly, Emil rushed forward and fiercely pulled the hood back down. “Are you crazy?” he exclaimed angrily, “What if the system detects you?”

“It’s okay,” the man finally spoke after a long silence, his low voice reaching everyone. “I did not sneak in this time. I’m here as a player.”

The hood was lifted, revealing the man’s handsome face again.

Blonde shoulder-length hair, deep eye sockets, blue eyes, and a straight nose.

It was none other than Samuel?

Song Yuantian asked, “Didn’t you say you wanted to raise that child until he grew up?”

Emil looked nervous as he asked, “Then, are you back in the guild?”

Samael replied, “I’ve completed that task. Time in the movie world and the game lobby flows differently. For you, perhaps only a day has passed, but for me, it’s been ten years. I raised the child until he could stand on his own, then left everything to him and departed.”

“He was the key to breaking the cycle curse. I couldn’t just leave him as a baby and disappear.”

Hongyue asked, “Then how did you become a player?”

Samael glanced at Bai Lixin and said, “Thanks to a certain angel-demon…boss. He took me away when he left. This time, I’ve entered this game world in a normal way, but since my previous identity can’t be used anymore, I’m now on Floor 1.”

“You dropped from Floor 700+ to Floor 1?” Lin Jue laughed. “Brother, you didn’t just slide down a chute; you basically glided from a high altitude. Isn’t this starting from scratch?”

“Why did you come back after finally leaving the game world? Some people can’t leave even if they want to.” Lin Jue glanced at Emil after finishing his sentence.

Emil blushed and quickly lowered his head.

Samael smiled and said, “I have my reasons for coming back. The first one is that I made a promise to someone, and I haven’t fulfilled it yet.”

He paused.

Hongyue sensed some gossip and asked, “What about the second reason?”

Samael smiled helplessly, “You’re so nosy, Hongyue. The second reason will have to wait for later.”

Bai Lixin asked, “So, you don’t need to wear the cloak to hide your identity anymore?”

Samael nodded, “That’s right, I can now reveal my true appearance.”

Zhou Guang cleared his throat, “Then here comes the question: Have you joined a guild?”

Everyone turned to look at him.

Xia Chi silently gave Zhou Guang a thumbs-up.

‘Good, brother, you’re really brave.

Asking this question in front of the person’s former guild leader is either courting death or trying to create discord.’

Zhou Guang said earnestly, “What’s the scarcest thing in the 21st century?”

“Talented individuals!”

“Our Core Fire Guild just happens to cherish talents.”

Lin Jue glared at Zhou Guang, “Zhou Guang, look at Samael’s face. He’s naturally suited to join our Sand Sea Guild, which is famous for its members’ appearances, right?”

Li Cancan stepped forward and pointed at Bai Lixin, “Are you sure you want to argue based on appearances?”

Lin Jue: “…”

‘Your guild has the King of Handsome, you’re indeed impressive.’

“Regarding joining a guild,” Samael spoke slowly, and Emil, who had been standing at the side with his head down, suddenly looked at the man nervously. “It’s like this, I’m a new player, and I couldn’t be any newer. I don’t even have the initial 50 points required for daily expenses.”

“I’m quite short on points now.”

Song Yuantian said, “Come back, and I’ll keep your position as vice president. Whatever points you need, we have them in the guild warehouse, and I can personally sponsor you.”

Zhou Guang pushed up his glasses coldly, “We’re also in need. You can try the guild across the street.”

Samael smiled, “Well, I’d better go back to my old guild. But now I live in the Hive area; I was used to living in a large villa.”

Song Yuantian looked at Emil and said, “Emil, I’ll leave Samael in your care. Try to fulfill his needs in all aspects, including clothing, food, shelter, and transportation.”

Emil: “?”

‘Why me? Look at him, does he need someone to take care of him? He was a veteran player at level 700+.’

“Except for you, who just slacks off every day, no one else is as free as you,” Song Yuantian decisively concluded, “That’s decided then. Meeting adjourned, let’s go home.”

Emil: “…”

Emil was about to follow behind Song Yuantian and leave when Samael, who had exposed his face, reached out to him.

Emil looked puzzled, “What?”

Samael said, “My time is almost up today, give me 50 points.”

Emil clenched his teeth and took out a 500 point card from his backpack and handed it to Samir: “…”

‘I must have owed you in a past life.

Freeloader!’

After seeing the others leave, only Ba Lixin and his four teammates remained in the room.

“I didn’t expect it to happen so quickly, just before we even had time to be too sad,” Zhou Guang looked at Bai Lixin and asked, “God Xin, what are we going to do next? Look for tokens?”

Bai Lixin replied, “Yes, let’s find some tokens first. There are still more than thirty days until the end, and if the next copy takes a long time again, we might miss the opportunity.”

Zhou Guang nodded, “Okay, should we search together or divide the floors?”

Ba Lixin said, “Let’s divide the floors. Also, bring Li Cangshan along. We’ll move in groups of three.”

Liang Xi looked puzzled, “Who exactly is Li Cangshan? Why do we need to bring him along?”

Bai Lixin: “He’s someone who might save our lives in critical moments.”

Everyone’s expression flickered with surprise.
