With a “click”, Bai Lixin opened the door.

The pitch-black corridor was empty.

The faint light of a small night lamp at the end of the corridor near the stairwell flickered.

Bai Lixin leaned against the door frame, peered out into the corridor, then retracted his gaze.

Just as he was closing the door, a gust of wind brushed the hair by his ear.

After closing the door, the “girl” turned on the small desk lamp instead of returning to the bed. She sat in the chair, lost in thought.

It wasn’t until it was one in the morning that she stood up and returned to the bed, lying down to sleep.

The light was extinguished, and the room plunged back into darkness once again.

At two in the morning, the “girl” turned over. Her expression was relaxed, showing that she had entered deep sleep.

In the quiet darkness, the curtains suddenly stirred, they fluttered lightly as if they were being blown by the wind.

However, the window was tightly shut, and their was no wind.

The “girl” was blissfully unaware of everything, sleeping soundly.

The curtains ceased their fluttering. After about ten seconds, the end of the “girl’s” quilt rose eerily.

The camera quietly recorded the scene.

No one was standing there, and there was no sign of the “girl” shifting or moving her feet, the camera captured something strange and terrifying.

The corner of the quilt was lifted even higher, until the entire quilt was raised by the unseen force.

The “girl” in her nightclothes was now completely exposed to the air.

The air seemed to ripple slightly.

The bedspread then fell, landing softly beside the “girl.”

————————-

In the live broadcast room

[Gosh, what about the blanket seal technique? This ghost is breaking the traditional rules of the ghost world.]

[I don’t know whether the blanket seal technique works or not, I just hope God Xin wakes up soon. While I might be an oddball who enjoys seeing God Xin getting bullied by the big boss, I can’t accept it when it’s someone else.]

[So, the question is, do you think God Xin is really asleep or just pretending?]

[Um, the possibility of pretending is higher.]

——————————

The conscientious camera continued to patiently capture the scene. In the darkness, the “girl’s” long black hair oddly defied gravity, rising into the air from beside the pillow. Then, as if manipulated by something, that strand of hair began to twist and distort in mid-air, coiling into a spiral shape.

The eerie occurrences continued. Just as another strand of hair was pulled upwards, the “girl”, who should have been sleeping soundly, abruptly opened her eyes. She extended her arm toward a certain point in the air.

After suspending her hand in the air for a moment, it curled into a grabbing motion, as if clutching an invisible neck.

The “girl’s” hair instantly fell down and the bed underwent a strange vibration. The quilt suddenly seemed weightless as it was lifted by an invisible force.

With a sardonic smile, the “girl” pursed her lips. With a swing of her arm, a peculiar indentation appeared on the quilt.

Though there was clearly no one there, and the “girl’s” hand was merely hovering above the quilt, an imprint, roughly the size of an adult, appeared on the bed.

The quilt shook violently, its indented pattern constantly changing and distorting, as if the invisible force within was desperately struggling.

However, Bai Lixin remained unmoved.

In the black-and-white footage, the young man’s eyes gleamed with a bright, chilling light. His expression was cold and indifferent as he observed the struggle.

After an unknown amount of time, the thing’s struggling movements gradually slowed, until finally, it ceased to move altogether.

After another dozen seconds, Bai Lixin finally released his grip.

But the next second, a powerful wind abruptly swept through the room.

Everything in the room instantly rattled and rustled. The curtains were whipped into motion by a miniature cyclone, hurtling toward Bai Lixin. The quilt was also lifted from the bed. The small desk lamp on the table fell to the ground. Even the wall-mounted camera swayed violently, its image capturing rapid jostling and shaking, as if the entire room were on the brink of collapse.

With a loud “bang”, the room door was blown open by an eerie gust of wind.

S419m: [Lord Host, it’s trying to escape!]

Bai Lixin got up from the bed. Just as he rushed towards the door, it was slammed shut once again, blocking his way.

When Bai Lixin eventually opened the door and charged out, the empty corridor was devoid of anything.

However, Bai Lixin heard a series of footsteps that ordinary people would not be able to perceive.

He quickly put on his shoes and, one minute later, stood in the corridor holding a flashlight.

Following the footsteps he had just heard, he arrived at the staircase and glanced upstairs.

Escape System: [The rooms upstairs belong to the male guests.]

[The female guests are on the second floor, and the male guests are on the third floor.]

[Mmm] He then stealthily ascended the stairs while carrying the flashlight.

At the corner of the third floor upstairs, there was a small night light. The corridor was pitch-black, and he could only see four rooms facing each other.

He had heard the footsteps on the staircase just now; that unseen entity was heading to the third floor.

However, there were four people on the third floor and it was difficult to zero down the entity’s destination.

Bai Lixin shone the flashlight at the end of the corridor. There was nothing there.

He first arrived in front of the door of the first room. A “1” was written on the door. If he remembered correctly, this was where the baby-faced brother lived.

Bai Lixin gently pushed the door, but it was firmly shut, clearly showing resistance.

He then moved to room number 2. This was the profound and mature brother’s room.

Number 3 was the model brother’s room, and the last one, number 4, belonged to the singer-dancer brother.

Bai Lixin scanned each of these rooms. They were all quiet inside, and he could even hear snoring coming from room number 4.

Not finding any useful clues, Bai Lixin turned around, still holding the flashlight, and descended the stairs.

Rather than returning to his room on the second floor, he walked straight to the courtyard outside on the ground floor.

The row of bungalows in the corner of the yard was now completely dark. Bai Lixin approached the director’s door, gently tapping it with the flashlight.

After about ten seconds, a groggy voice emerged from the room, “Who’s there?”

“It’s me, Bai Lixin.”

The room fell silent for a few seconds before a rustling sound of getting dressed and getting up ensued.

About a minute later, the door was flung open from inside. The director, with somewhat disheveled hair, asked, “How did it go? Did you catch it?!”

Bai Lixin shook his head. “Almost, it got away. Can I take a look at the surveillance footage in my room and the corridor?”

The last bit of drowsiness vanished from the director. “Almost? So, it reappeared? What happened? Did you get a good look at what it looks like? Is it a person or a ghost?”

Bai Lixin shook his head again. “I didn’t see its appearance, but I was able to touch it. Let me see the footage first, and you’ll understand what happened.”

The director nodded. “Alright, follow me. The surveillance room is in the last room. Just wait a moment, I’ll get the key.”

After entering the surveillance room, the director confidently turned on all the screens and equipment. She explained with some embarrassment, “Technically, there should be someone on duty in the surveillance room 24/7, but we’re operating on a low budget, and we’re short on personnel behind the scenes. Also, there’s usually no footage to edit at night, so I let everyone rest.”

The director walked over to the computer and patted the empty chair beside it. “You want to start with the surveillance in your room? From what time? Midnight?”

Bai Lixin replied, “Go back five minutes earlier, and retrieve the footage from the corridors on the second and third floors. Also, collect the room surveillance footage for all male guests, starting from when they entered the dormitory.”

The director asked, “Anything else?”

Bai Lixin continued, “Also, the surveillance footage from my room. I want to see the footage between midnight and 2 o’clock in the morning.”

The director shook herself awake. “A standard dormitory has three surveillance cameras. With all these, I’m prepared for an all-night battle.”

Inside the surveillance room were four computer setups. Each display screen had 12 different views. Seeing that the director was about to zoom in on a particular frame, Bai Lixin stopped her, saying, “No need to zoom in. Put the frames I mentioned on one screen. That’s four computers in total, with each computer displaying six frames.”

The director’s hand that was originally on the mouse suddenly paused.

She looked at Bai Lixin in puzzlement and asked, “Are you sure? The footage taken at night is in black and white thermal imaging, and the colors are already distorted. Do you really want to watch so many of them together?”

‘We’re not filming a genius detective TV drama here, young man. Let’s be a bit practical.’

Bai Lixin responded, “Yes, I’m sure. Let’s standardize the time. Start playing from 10 PM last night.”

Seeing that the young man wasn’t joking, the director had no choice but to comply. She dragged the frames he wanted onto the screen as he requested.

Each screen was divided into six parts. The time was frozen at 11 PM last night.

“Okay, start,” Bai Lixin said.

The director gave Bai Lixin another disapproving glance but pressed the play button.

As she pressed it, the frames began playing simultaneously.

Bai Lixin pushed his chair a few paces back and stared at the three screens for about a minute. Then he said, “Double the speed.”

The director was momentarily taken aback.

She looked at Bai Lixin’s earnest expression thoughtfully. Without saying more, she followed his request and switched to double speed.

The footage instantly sped up.

One minute later, just when the director thought that Bai Lixin had seen enough, he said, “Let’s go for eight times the speed directly. This is too slow and a waste of time.”

The director: “???”

Is this what a normal person says?!

————————-

In the live broadcast room

[Ding! Congratulations to God Xin for completing his showing off routine x1.]

[If anyone else sat in front of the camera, displaying 24 frames simultaneously at eight times the speed, I would suggest they go to a mental hospital. But this person is God Xin. I don’t want to say anything more; he’s truly different. God Xin is so handsome.]

[So, that creepy thing is among those four male guests?]

[It’s no longer just creepy. That ghostly thing actually committed an atrocity last night; he’s elevated to a criminal. Minimum three years in prison.]

[Prison is too kind for him. Chemical castration might be considered.]

———————

The 24 frames on the screen looked comical when sped up eight times. Bai Lixin seriously watched the screen, completely oblivious to the director’s boredom as she watched.

Having experienced the ups and downs of the entertainment industry for so many years, the director had seen a lot. In terms of looks, this young man was only on par with Luo Mei and Shen Mo.

However, these three individuals had different attributes. Shen Mo represented the epitome of classical male aesthetics, while Luo Mei had the rare and enchanting charm of a fox spirit that had emerged in recent years.

There seemed to be a natural magic about Luo Mei that made all men fall for her and captured all women’s attention.

Men saw her as an object of admiration, while women viewed her as a role model and a source of inspiration.

In the realm of humanity, she had almost no enemies; everyone was on her side.

The young man before her presented a different kind of beauty.

Lying between Shen Mo and Luo Mei, his features were delicate and beautiful while retaining a masculine handsomeness.

Shen Mo was overly rugged, and Luo Mei was overly enchanting. The young man struck a perfect balance—pure yet alluring, sweet yet salty.

“Hold on!” The young man’s voice interrupted the director’s train of thought. She snapped back to reality and quickly pressed the pause button.

Glancing at the screen, the director realized that the time had already reached midnight.

Bai Lixin said, “Could you please rewind to two minutes ago and switch the speed back to normal?”

Following the young man’s instructions, the director operated the controls. She casually looked at one of the corridor screens, not really comprehending what the young man had discovered.

The guests had the habit of covering their camera lenses at night. At this point, the cameras inside the guest rooms had all turned black, leaving only Bai Lixin’s room and the corridor still visible; the rest of the screens were all blacked out.

On the black-and-white corridor footage, a sinister “thud, thud, thud,” suddenly echoed, and shortly thereafter, the young man opened the door.

Startled, she turned to look at the young man, only to find that his attention wasn’t on this corridor.

His gaze seemed to be locked onto the black screen, where nothing was discernible. An inscrutable expression hung on his face.

Bai Lixin’s attention soon shifted back to his own room. “Alright, continue at eight times speed,” he said.

The director had no clue about what Bai Lixin had noticed. An uneasy feeling scratched at her like a cat’s claw. “Wait, what did you find?” she asked.

With a soothing smile, Bai Lixin replied, “I’ll tell you tomorrow. I’m not entirely sure yet; I need to confirm it again tomorrow. Don’t worry.”

The director: “…”

‘How can I not worry!’

The eight times speed resumed. Soon, the director’s eyes widened.

She witnessed a scene that she would never forget for the rest of her life.

————————

It was nearly 4 AM by the time they finished watching the surveillance. Bai Lixin calmly stood up from his chair and turned to the director, who seemed dazed. “Director, I’ve finished watching. Thank you. It’s quite late now, so please go back and get some rest.”

The director stiffly raised her head and stared at Bai Lixin: “…”

Seeing the quilt floating in the room, the ghostly images on the quilt, and the sudden gusts of wind, how could she possibly fall asleep?

This experience was truly taking a toll on her life.

The director’s brain couldn’t quite process at the moment. She obediently stood up from her chair, dazedly walked back to her room, and lay down.

After bidding farewell to the director, Bai Lixin returned to his own room. He washed his face in the bathroom and then took off his shoes, covering himself with the quilt and lying down on the bed to rest.

However, he hadn’t been lying down for long when he sensed something was amiss.

A familiar, icy touch coiled around his waist. Beneath the blanket, he could vaguely see something slender moving.

Bai Lixin glanced at the camera on the wall and realized that the three cameras had fallen from the wall during the earlier storm. They now lay useless on the ground.

The cold sensation continued to crawl over him recklessly, passing through his sleepwear and reaching his chest.

With a frown, Bai Lixin lifted the quilt, and in that instant, he unexpectedly locked eyes with a pair of translucent red gem-like eyes.

The silver snake’s body emitted an eerie white light in the darkness. The snake boldly slithered into his clothes, emerging from beneath his collar without any hint of shame and provocatively presented itself before Bai Lixin.

Bai Lixin attempted to grab the snake, but it employed the same technique again. With a flick of its long tail, it entwined Bai Lixin entirely.

Subsequently, the snake daringly nestled its head against Bai Lixin’s neck. At times, it nuzzled his neck like a little dog; other times, it extended its slender red tongue to lick his neck. Occasionally, it even opened its mouth playfully, allowing its sharp fangs to teasingly graze Bai Lixin’s blue veins.

And what about Bai Lixin?

All he could do was puff out his cheeks and stare at the ceiling above him, utterly helpless.

S419m: [Sigh, this snake sure has a few tricks up its sleeve. It’s got a knack for winding people up. Tell me, it’s not your first time getting coiled up like this. Why do you never learn? But there’s a saying, how does it go again? “A snake coiled around a rabbit, the more it coils, the richer it gets.” Lord Host, your good times are yet to come!]

Escape System: [Brother M, how could you say that? The silver snake came, and we didn’t notice it, putting Master Bai Lixin in danger. This was a major mistake on our part as systems. We should apologize to Master Bai Lixin. Master Bai Lixin, we’re truly sorry. Brother M, you’ve gone too far.]

S419M panicked, [System sister, dear system sister. I was just joking, don’t be angry. Haven’t you noticed yet? This snake is no ordinary one. The first time Lord God appeared in the Gold Sea Luxury Apartment, the snake appeared. Now in the neighboring film crew, the snake has shown up again. Two consecutive times, what a coincidence! This silver snake is Lord Dijia, and Lord Dijia is this silver snake!]
