[Xia Chi is truly unleashing his true self.]

[I’ve figured out that once there is no ghost, Xia Chi goes from being socially anxious to socially bullish.]

[Xia Chi: As long as I’m not embarrassed, others will be embarrassed.]

[Did you all forget that Xia Chi’s luck value and the luck value of God Xin are both playing in this poker game?]

[Oh, fuck! This will be interesting!]

———————

That night, the four played poker until 2 a.m. Bai Lixin yawned and stood up, “No more playing. Luo Ran, aren’t you leaving?”

By now, Luo Ran had dark circles under his eyes. He smiled as if granted amnesty. “Since we’re done playing, I’ll leave first. I’ve already given you my phone number. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Goodbye.”

Before the others could respond, he swiftly transformed into a black shadow, disappearing into the ceiling above the stage in the blink of an eye.

After Luo Ran left, Xia Chi leaned against Bai Lixin and rested until dawn. It was past 7 a.m. when Xia Chi woke up and noticed the shaman was still in Studio 8.

“Why haven’t you left?” Xia Chi asked the shaman.

The shaman looked at Bai Lixin with gentle eyes. “I’m traveling with you guys.”

Xia Chi was puzzled. “Traveling? Where?”

“Aren’t you planning to go to Lady Yuexian’s temple today? I want to go there too. Since we seem to have such a connection, why not go together, Xin Xin?” The shaman answered Xia Chi’s question while keeping his eyes on Bai Lixin.

Xia Chi frowned at the shaman. “Why do I feel like you’re strange?”

“And why are you so familiar? Why do you call my brother, Xin Xin? What gives you the right?”

‘I don’t even have that privilege.’

Bai Lixin lazily draped his arms over the back of the chair. “He is kind of weird indeed, barging in without an invitation and lingering without leaving.”

Xia Chi looked skeptically at the shaman.

Despite Bai Lixin’s remark, the shaman’s expression remained unchanged, maintaining his smile.

Xia Chi asked, “What do you mean by ‘barging in without an invitation’ and ‘lingering without leaving,’ brother?”

Bai Lixin: “When we entered the TV station, the security guard said we were the sixth and seventh people. But last night, there were 8 people in the studio including us. Guess who was the extra person?”

Xia Chi’s eyes that were initially drowsy suddenly cleared. He looked at the shaman cautiously and scrutinized him inch by inch.

Suddenly, Xia Chi’s pupils shrank dramatically, and his voice was trembling: “B—brother, he, he doesn’t have a shadow!”

The shaman continued to smile gently, and even widened it a bit more.

Bai Lixin also smiled. “You’ve grown so much, Tuanzi.”

Halfway through his shiver, Xia Chi’s shoulders abruptly stopped.

‘Huh?

Tuanzi?

Why does this name sound so familiar?

Oh, right, isn’t Tuanzi the adopted son that brother found in the Red Apple Park? They even met again in the Underworld copy.’

‘Tuanzi?

This person is actually Tuanzi?

The adopted son has grown up this much?!’

Xia Chi surveyed the tall and elegant young man in front of him that was exuding an air of elegance and refinement.

‘He calls Brother “papa”. Following seniority, shouldn’t he be calling me “uncle”?’

Xia Chi glanced at the shaman again.

Despite his air of elegance, he couldn’t conceal the domineering aura beneath.

‘Oh well, I guess it’s fine not to be called “uncle.”’

The shaman slowly knelt on one knee in front of Bai Lixin. He looked up at Bai Lixin, sincerely took Bai Lixin’s hand and pressed it to his forehead. “I finally see you again.”

Bai Lixin asked, “Did Black Wuchang tell you about me?”

The shaman replied, “Yes, he said he saw you, so I immediately dropped everything and came to find you. You’re still the same as back then, with the same charisma. Time hasn’t left a trace on you. You’re still as beautiful. Fate has been kind to me. I originally thought you had gone to another time and space, that I would never see you again in this lifetime.”

Bai Lixin looked down at the shaman, and sighed softly, “Time flies, things change. I’m glad to see you again. I heard that you’re now a proper King Yama.”

The shaman blushed slightly. “Compared to that person, I still have a long way to go.”

He hesitated and glanced at Xia Chi, then looked around before cautiously continuing, “That person isn’t here?”

“If you’re referring to Yama Dijia, he’s not in this world.”

“Really? Did you two break up?!” The shaman’s eyes lit up suddenly, but he quickly realized his impoliteness and he suppressed his smile. “Ahem, well, the old doesn’t go, the new doesn’t come. You deserve better. I’ve long thought he wasn’t worthy.”

Bai Lixin “…”

On the 999-floor of the tower.

The man forcefully crushed the wine glass.

‘This rebellious son!

Ambitious brat!’

In the live broadcast room

[Master Tuanzi! He really is Master Tuanzi! I knew he looked familiar, but I couldn’t remember where I’d seen him.]

[The dumpling has undergone a huge transformation. And you still think he looks familiar?]

[Haha, he means good-looking people lhave similarities.]

[“He’s Not Worthy.” Isn’t this what kids around the world feel about their dads not being good enough for their moms?]

[Why do I feel like the way he looks at God Xin isn’t how a son looks at his father? Instead, it’s more like the way someone looks at their goddess?]

[Ohh, this is getting exciting!]

[This is a full-fledged family drama, haha.]

[Fight, fight, let’s see them fight already!]

[Big boss, where are you? Come out quickly, your son is getting ready to steal your wife, haha.]

[This is the legendary raising a tiger to cause trouble!]

——————–

“I’ve grown up now, can I call you Xin Xin?”

“Xin Xin, are you going to leave again in a few days?”

“Xin Xin, are you hungry? I’ll buy you breakfast.”

“Xin Xin, are you thirsty? I’ll get you soy milk. Xin Xin, are you tired from walking? Should I carry you?”

Just past 8 o’clock, the three of them walked out of the TV station’s gate.

The shaman circled around Bai Lixin the entire time, while Xia Chi followed behind them in silence, unable to utter a word.

‘When three people walk together, one of them must get injured. Ah, I’m suffering internal injuries from holding back.’

They had just stepped out of the TV station when a black car slowly pulled up beside them, honking its horn.

Xia Chi leaned over curiously. As the window rolled down, a cold face was revealed to them.

The man sat in the back seat with his legs crossed, his eagle-like gaze sweeping over Bai Lixin and the shaman thoughtfully, before settling on the shaman’s face.

The moment their eyes met, a burst of cold light shot through the air.

Xia Chi “…”

‘Danger!’

The shaman looked at the man in the car with a frosty gaze, then his eyes became gentle when they turned back to Bai Lixin, “Xin Xin, who is he?”

The man in the car furrowed his brows.

‘Xin Xin?’

Bai Lixin “…”

‘I want to escape.’

The man in the car spoke coldly, “Xiao Xin is my personal caretaker. And who are you?”

“Personal caretaker?” The shaman widened his eyes in disbelief. “You old man, you actually made Xin Xin serve you? Are you worthy? I’ve been holding him like a treasure, afraid of dropping him, holding him in my mouth, afraid he’d dissolve.”

The man’s face grew colder.

‘Holding him in your mouth?

Isn’t it too hot that you’ll get scalded?’

The man’s gaze shifted, looking at Bai Lixin. “Get in the car. Didn’t we agree to go to Lady Yuexian’s Temple?”

Xia Chi glanced at Bai Lixin, then at the shaman and the man.

Before the others could react, he quickly opened the passenger door and got in.

‘The backseat is a shura field, I won’t get involved.’

This time, Shen Mo’s assistant didn’t follow, only the driver was in the car.

The car was a five-seater, and Bai Lixin hesitated at the door for a few seconds, then reluctantly sat inside. The shaman was about to follow, but Shen Mo suddenly spoke up, “Xiao Xin, sit by the door. I’m afraid of the wind so you can be in between.”

“Um, for you, whose name I don’t know, could you please go around and enter from the other side?”

Young Yama: “…”

‘Afraid of the wind? Why didn’t you say you were afraid of the wind when you were sitting next to the window just now?’

But the car belonged to Shen Mo.

Gritting his teeth, Young Yama ultimately compromised.

‘When under the eaves, you have to bow your head.

The old king left, and now there’s a stinky snake.

How unlucky.’

At the same time, Shen Mo was also complaining about his bad luck.

The driver dared not make a sound. After the door closed and he started the car, he slowly drove toward the predetermined location.

The car was relatively spacious, yet for some unknown reason, the expansive space now felt constricted and stifling.

The air inside the car was divided in two. Unlike the shivering in the front, the backseat was filled with a tense atmosphere.

Young Yama put himself far away from Shen Mo, wishing he could stick himself to the car door.

“Here, this is for you.”

Bai Lixin was trying to force himself to look at the scenery outside the window to shift his focus, when something cool was presented in front of him. He lowered his head and saw a brand-new phone.

Shen Mo opened the phone as if presenting a treasure. “I heard you didn’t have a phone, so I took the time to buy you one yesterday. I also got a new SIM card. The card isn’t linked to an ID yet, so you can do that yourself.”

He then opened the contacts list, where two numbers were already saved at the top.

“This number is mine,” Shen Mo pointed to the first number. “I added my name as the contact: Shen Mo.”

“I know the director gave you his number before,” Shen Mo indicated the second number. “I trust your memory, but I added the director’s number to your contacts just in case.”

“If you need anything, you can call me anytime. I’m usually not busy.” Shen Mo handed the phone to Bai Lixin. “Take a look. If you like it, keep it. If not, I’ll get you a different one.”

Bai Lixin took the phone and shook his head, then nodded, saying, “I really like it. Thank you for being so thoughtful. How much is it? I’ll pay you.”

“No need to pay me. Consider it part of your compensation for being my personal caretaker.”

The phone didn’t have a startup password. After a brief pause, Bai Lixin opened the contacts page and quickly dialed a string of numbers before making the call.

A few seconds later, an impatient voice came from the other end, “Hello, who’s this?”

Bai Lixin “It’s me, Bai Lixin who played cards together in Studio Eight last night. Do you remember?”

On hearing Bai Lixin’s voice, the voice on the other end instantly turned much gentler, “Oh, oh, I remember. It’s really you. Is there something you need?”

“It’s nothing urgent. This is my new phone number. Save it. If you or Lin Mu encounter any difficulties, feel free to call me.”

Luo Ran: “Okay, thank you.”

As the call ended, Bai Lixin felt two fiery gazes on him.

Stiffening his neck, he turned to see Shen Mo and Tuanzi both looking at him with eager eyes.

After thinking for two seconds, Bai Lixin hesitated and asked, “Do you two want me to call you as well?”

Shen Mo and Tuanzi both nodded their heads vigorously.

They were quite in sync.

Holding the phone, Bai Lixin made a call to Shen Mo first.

Even though the person was right beside him, Shen Mo still solemnly pulled out his phone and answered, “Hello,” as if it was a formal call. “I’m Shen Mo.”

Next was the Young Yama.

Bai Lixin opened the numeric keypad and was about to enter a phone number when he hesitated. “Tuanzi, what’s your phone number?”

Young Yama was also taken aback by the question. He sat stiffly in place, then looked at Shen Mo and Bai Lixin, finally saying helplessly, “I don’t have a phone.”

Feeling wronged.jpg

Xia Chi: “…”

‘What business do you have getting involved when you don’t even have a phone? I have a phone but I don’t dare to ask for my brother’s phone number all because of you guys.’

On the way, Bai Lixin lowered his head and distracted himself by playing some phone games. He pretended not to notice the two people engaging in a silent battle.

When the car pulled over to the side of the road, Bai Lixin looked up and saw that they had arrived at a slightly remote road. There was a white car parked in front of their car.

A person got out of the white car. Bai Lixin looked carefully and recognized him as the square-faced man from the hospital yesterday.

Bai Lixin rolled down the window and greeted the square-faced man.

The square faced ma. glanced inside the car and saw two people he didn’t recognize. However, when he saw the familiar faces of Shen Mo and Bai Lixin, he politely smiled, pointing at the white car in front. “We’re heading in front. You follow us from behind. The road ahead isn’t easy to navigate, so be careful.”

With that, the square-faced man walked toward the car in front.

As the engine roared to life, the black car obediently followed the white car.

Just as the square-faced man had said, the road ahead was indeed challenging, to the point of being impassable.

The driver frowned as he looked at the navigation system, shaking his head. “Strange, the navigation clearly shows this as a seaside area. Why are there still small roads here? This blasted navigation. As soon as it gets to remote places, it stops updating the route. But where is this place exactly? Why does it seem like I’ve never been here before?”

Xia Chi: “…”

‘Don’t blame the navigation. It’s really feeling wronged.’

The vehicle slowly moved along the rough and winding mountain road, gradually leaving the city behind.

After an unknown amount of time, the white car in front slowed down.

Everyone looked outside and saw a majestic temple standing not too far ahead.
