Bai Lixin chased the water stains with the flashlight. The footprints extended all the way into the dark depths. The light was swallowed by darkness beyond, making the path unclear.

Just as he was retracting the flashlight, something flashed in the light.

The speed was very fast, and with a “swish”, two small white dots could be seen passing through.

Bai Lixin was slightly startled. He swung the flashlight left and right to look for the black shadow just now, but there was only tranquil darkness ahead.

Xia Chi was puzzled and asked, “Brother, what are you looking at?”

Bai Lixin retracted the flashlight, “Nothing, let’s go.”

It seemed like Xia Chi didn’t notice the shadow from earlier.

He glanced at Xia Chi, and inadvertently looked at Lin Xiao. The young man’s gaze was fixed where the shadow had appeared.

As if sensing Bai Lixin’s attention, Lin Xiao withdrew his gaze naturally, and smiled at Bai Lixin, “Alright, let’s go.”

The tapping sound in the wall had disappeared. They walked along the footprints and found them leading to a cylindrical sewer pipe.

The pipe was embedded in the wall, surrounded by thick cement walls. Bai Lixin shone the light inside; the pipe was dry, possibly an abandoned passage or used for special drainage purposes, like a backup drain after rain.

The diameter of the pipe was about a meter, and you need to crawl to walk through it. At the bottom of the pipe, there was a vaguely visible water stain.

“Are you planning to crawl into the pipe?” Before Bai Lixin could speak, Lin Xiao, who rarely spoke, spoke up.

Bai Lixin: “Yes.”

Lin Xiao frowned, with an undisguised rejection on his face, “Then, I’ll wait here for you. I don’t want to go in. I have claustrophobia, it’s challenging for me to enter such narrow spaces.”

“Okay, send a message in the group if there’s any situation,” he said, then turned his gaze to Xia Chi’s face. Xia Chi immediately said, “Of course, I’ll accompany you, Brother.”

Bai Lixin nodded, “Let’s go.”

After bidding farewell to Lin Xiao, Bai Lixin and Xia Chi entered the pipe one after the other.

The inside of the pipe was clean, with only some dust and dirt that had fallen due to long-term neglect.

Bai Lixin crawled forward, keeping an eye on the passage ahead.

After crawling for just a few minutes, they came to a fork in the road.

One of the forks had traces of water stains.

Without much hesitation, Bai Lixin chose the path with water stains and continued crawling forward.

The purpose of this pipe was unclear; it seemed small from the outside, but inside, it revealed a hidden world.

The pipe was winding, with occasional forks.

The water stains became shallower with time, and eventually disappeared.

This is where Xia Chi’s importance became evident. Under Xia Chi’s guidance, they twisted and turned before finally reaching the end of a certain pipe.

At the end was a sealed space, and in a corner of this space were some things.

There was a makeshift bed made of straw and wooden planks. Opposite the bed were tables and chairs made of stacked stones. In the corner of this space were some simple tools, like makeshift harpoons.

After coming down from the pipe and into this space, Bai Lixin carefully examined the room.

The wall was carved with “十” characters, seemingly used to mark time.

However, this was an underground space, without sunlight as a reference. How did the person record time?

Bai Lixin walked to the stone table, lightly brushing his fingers over it. There was only a thin layer of dust.

The dust was minimal, indicating that it hadn’t been cleaned for about two days.

Someone has been living here all along.

Xia Chi walked to the wall, reached out and touched the marks on the wall curiously. “Brother, is there someone here?”

As his fingertips brushed the marks, he immediately sensed the sharp edges of the cross-shaped traces.

Bai Lixin lifted his eyes, and was silent for two seconds before saying in a low voice, “Xia Chi, come here.”

Xia Chi looked up at Bai Lixin in confusion. Bai Lixin’s gaze was intense, and he was looking in his direction. Not at him, but diagonally above him.

There was a flash of inspiration and he suddenly felt a thump in his heart. He moved slowly and quietly towards Bai Lixin.

Midway through, he suddenly heard a rushing sound behind him.

At the same time, Bai Lixin rushed towards him.

Seeing the agile figure, Xia Chi was momentarily stunned, then there was another flash of inspiration and his body instinctively sank down.

Without warning, there was a sudden sound of breaking through the air at the height of his head.

He instinctively raised his head, and saw a sharp claw stretched out right where he had been standing.

If he hadn’t lowered his neck in time, his head would probably have fallen on the ground.

Xia Chi rubbed the cold back of his neck fearfully and whispered in his mind: [System, thank you just now. 】

A flash of inspiration: [Mmm.]

When that terrifying arm reached out, Bai Lixin also acted.

Xia Chi didn’t even see what Bai Lixin did; he only heard a muffled sound, and the ground seemed to tremble.

A huge creature was effortlessly knocked down by Bai Lixin.

One move decided victory.

Xia Chi looked closely; not far from him lay a dark monster.

It was about four to five meters long, round in shape, and as he approached, he noticed thick fur covering the unnamed monster. It huddled there, like a small hill.

Bai Lixin grabbed one of the monster’s forearms, holding it to the ground.

Xia Chi stood behind Bai Lixin and kicked the monster arrogantly: “You dare to sneak attack me, you should know who my backer is!”

“Brother, this monster harmed me. Should we kill it?”

The monster seemed to understand human speech, and a choking sound suddenly came from the head buried on the ground.

Bai Lixin didn’t act; instead, he suddenly reached out and grabbed Xia Chi’s arm, pulling him back a few steps.

In an instant, a sharp harpoon appeared in the place they had just left.

Under the narrow beam of the flashlight, Xia Chi saw a black shadow darting out like lightning from the corner, standing next to the fallen monster.

After landing, Xia Chi finally saw the appearance of that figure.

It was actually a person.

A young male, with features between a teenager and a young adult, looking about fifteen or sixteen years old.

The young man’s messy hair stuck to his head, but it couldn’t hide his sharpness.

He wasn’t wearing an upper garment, and a piece of cloth loosely covered his lower body. Holding a harpoon, he glared at them with a fierce expression, opened his mouth and let out a beast-like roar at them.

When the young man opened his mouth, Xia Chi suddenly noticed that his teeth were different from normal humans. They weren’t round and smooth but sharp and pointed, like two rows of blades in his mouth.

Xia Chi was stunned: “?”

What is this?
