The lights on the second-floor were bright, and the corridor was empty.

Bai Lixin glanced at the noisy card table downstairs but chose not to explore the second floor further. Instead, he went straight to the third floor and returned to his room.

He first locked the door, then walked to the window and locked it.

S419M: [Lord Host, Aunt Zhang said to “lock the doors and windows.” Could there be something strange coming through the windows as well?]

Bai Lixin: [Possibly.]

S419M: [It’s still early. Was someone following you? Why didn’t you continue Investigating the house during this time?]

Bai Lixin: [I’m waiting for that black furry monster.]

S419M: [But the black furry monster hasn’t appeared yet. Are you sure this place is the setting for the second game?]

Bai Lixin: [If not, how do we explain having another Bai Lixin here with the same name and appearance as me?]

[Actually, when I went to the police station last night, I just wanted to find out where I lived. Finding a “family” was an unexpected joy. I guess even if I didn’t actively look for them, the gears of fate would still bring us together.]

S419M: [That makes sense.]

Because there was surveillance, Bai Lixin didn’t change into pajamas. Instead, he simply cleaned up the clothes he had on before and got into bed.

With the closed door and the distance of three floors, the sounds from downstairs were completely muted, and nothing could be heard.

Time passed, and Bai Lixin waited quietly.

During this time, he opened the system, attempting to contact Zhou Guang and Li Cangshan through private messages.

However, every time he sent a message, the chat box displayed a red circle with a small exclamation mark, indicating that the message failed to be sent.

The color of their profile photos did not change to the red color when entering a copy, but maintained, but remained white, indicating a safe state.

However, the profile photos of Zhou Guang and Li Cangshan did not turn gray, so there shouldn’t be any problem.

Time seemed to flow slowly, like sand slipping through the cracks of fingers, passing imperceptibly.

Around the time the card game ended, fragmented footsteps echoed outside the door.

Faint footsteps rang out, but after a while there was the sound of the door opening, followed by silence.

The surroundings became quiet again.

After a while, time slowly approached midnight.

“Pa!”

“Pa!”

“Pa!”

“Ah!”

The sound of something hitting and a faint male scream entered Bai Lixin’s ears. The sound seemed close and far at the same time.

Bai Lixin had not slept. He sat up in bed in the dark, surveying the surroundings. Soon, he identified the source of the noise.

It came from the bathroom.

Bai Lixin silently turned on the light.

When the light came on, the clapping and screaming abruptly stopped, plunging the room back into silence.

Bai Lixin: “…”

‘So, is there a tradition in this world where “turning on the light scares away the ghosts”?’

After pondering for two seconds, Bai Lixin still put on slippers and walked into the bathroom.

There was no change inside the bathroom, it was the same as when he last entered.

He slowly walked along the edge of the bathroom, running his fingertips over the wall.

Soon, he arrived at the massive two-way mirror.

The “person” behind the mirror could see him, but he couldn’t see anything behind the mirror.

Fingers seamlessly pressed against the reflection in the mirror, Bai Lixin stood in front of the full-length mirror for a full five minutes before turning off the bathroom light and returning to the bedroom.

After turning off the bedroom light, Bai Lixin slipped back under the covers.

Darkness enveloped him once again.

“Pa!”

“Pa!”

“Pa!”

“Ah!”

Half an hour later, the clapping sounds and screaming rang out once more.

This time, Bai Lixin didn’t turn on the light or wear slippers.

He walked on the wooden floor barefoot, silently making his way into the bathroom in the dark.

While inspecting the room and bathroom earlier, he had memorized the layout and path, allowing him to navigate in the darkness despite almost seeing nothing.

His journey was smooth, and he didn’t encounter any obstacles nor make a sound.

As the distance to the bathroom shortened, the clapping and cries became clearer.

“It hurts.”

“Stop.”

“I beg you.”

“It really hurts.”

Hearing the pleading voice of a young man, Bai Lixin hesitated for a moment, and his eyes concealed in the darkness flickered.

This voice seemed to be involved in…

Colorful activities.

After hesitating for two seconds, he entered the bathroom.

He had pulled the curtains shut, leaving no source of light in the room. Inside the bathroom, it was pitch black.

The pleas grew louder, but it seemed to be coming from beyond the wall.

He slowly followed the sound until he reached the wall where the noise originated. Raising his fingers, he touched the cold smooth surface.

It was the full-length mirror.

The place where the sound came from was behind this mirror.

Bai Lixin pressed his ear against the mirror, listening to the sounds from the other side of the wall.

Many previously unclear noises became distinct at this point.

The “pa-pa-pa”, resembling the sound of a whip, was accompanied by the male voice crying for mercy.

The pleading voice sounded quite young, indicating he was a young man.

The young man’s voice was mixed with pain and extreme pleasure, gradually changing its tone with each whip.

Bai Lixin: “…”

Was it a human or ghost?

Bai Lixin listened for a while.

The whipping sounds faded, replaced by a low growl mixed heavy pants.

The subsequent voice was that of another man.

The previous young man seemed to be in pain. This pain did not refer to physical pain, but inner despair. He screamed in agony, begging with a torn heart, yet receiving no response.

Bai Lixin stood up in the dark, and the sounds continued.

He took two steps back and accurately found the light switch in the darkness.

As his fingers pressed down, the dimly lit room was instantly filled with light.

The moment the room lit up, the young man’s screams and pleas abruptly stopped.

The room returned to silence.

Bai Lixin looked at the full-length mirror. Its surface reflected light vividly, and there was only one foggy handprint.

It was the handprint he had left on the mirror just now.

He approached the full-length mirror. However, even when he pressed his ear against it, he couldn’t hear any sound now.

He stared at the full-length mirror for a long time, until the water mist handprint disappeared, then he stepped back to the switch and turned off the light.

The bathroom plunged into darkness again, and Bai Lixin couldn’t see anything.

He stood silently next to the switch, motionless, quietly waiting.

Another ten minutes passed.

The sounds from the other side of the wall resumed.

Bai Lixin walked to the full-length mirror again and listened.

This time, there were no whipping sounds, but the young man’s desperate pleas remained unchanged.

“Stop.”

“I can’t endure it anymore.”

“Please, spare me.”

Soon, a voice responded to the young man.

However, unlike the young man’s clear voice, the voice from the other side was muffled, resembling the distorted noise of a speaker.

“Okay, I’ll spare you.”

“Let me have some fun first, and I’ll let you go.”

“You’re really good-looking.”

Then came the young man’s despairing cries.

Bai Lixin frowned.

Even though the voice was muffled, he could still discern the greasiness and dirtiness in that voice.

The tormentor forced the young man into the most humiliating act.

The victorious laughter was a sharp contrast to the young man’s agonizing screams. Bai Lixin retreated to the switch once again, turning on the light.

The room brightened, and the sounds vanished.

Bai Lixin stared at the seemingly ordinary full-length mirror for a while, then turned off the light.

After another ten minutes, the sounds resurfaced.

The screams and pleas seemed like an eternal presence.

After listening for a while, Bai Lixin left and closed the bathroom door.

He groped his way back to bed. Despite the closed bathroom door, he could still hear the young man’s constant pleas.

The young man’s voice continuously entered his ears, and gradually merged with the hysterical voice from his dreams.

The voice of this young man was the same as the one he had dreamed of.

He thought the cries would continue through the night, but after just half an hour, the young man’s screams ceased.

The pitch-black bedroom fell silent once again.

However, this silence didn’t last long, and there was a sudden knock on the door.
