Chapter 100 : Huh? He’s That Kind of Person?

ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー

“Come on out, my magical beasts.”

『Gyaaa』

『Rupipi~』

『……』

At Malik-san’s signal, Jude-san immediately summoned three of his magical beasts. The first one was a two-headed bird with green wings just like Jude-san’s hair. The bird was about the size of a raven and they didn’t look that strong but we mustn’t let our guard down yet…

The second one was an adorable fluffy, yellow cotton candy…? That palm sized lump of fluff was floating in the air.

And the third one was a skeleton magical beast that resembled a dog or any other four-legged animal. The skeleton was bigger than Jude-san, even though Jude-san was over 2 meters tall. I guess the skeleton one was as big as Spica? This skeleton was the most magical beast-like amongst Jude-san’s magical beasts. Since it was made with nothing but bones, the skeleton didn’t have any vocal cords so I couldn’t hear any voice coming from the beast. If the skeleton couldn’t speak, I wonder how Jude-san communicate with them?

“Fufu~ These are my kids.”

Jude-san proudly boasted his three children but I only got my eyes on the yellow cotton candy…

“I’d like to touch the yellow one for a little bit. They look so fluffy…”

“Hm? Ah, you mean Shèvre? He’s really very fluffy.”

What’s up with that cotton ball! He looks so soft!!

『Master! Don’t you think I feel so much better to touch compared to that kind of guy?! 』

『I am very fluffy and soft too, you know?!』

“Ah. Sorry. I…”

Against my better judgement, I was so overwhelmed with the desire to pet the yellow cotton ball that I forgot about my anxiety. My two magical beasts, who had returned to their original size, were mad at me because of that. Were they feeling jealous because I, their Master, was interested in other magical beasts?

“Anyway… I don’t know what kind of kid they are but there’s no way Altair and Spica are going to lose, right? I will start, okay? 【Might】【Shield】【Haste】【Magic Barrier】【Barrier】Now then… Go get ‘em?”

I knew my children were strong. The burned grassland and the shattered rocks were proof of my children’s strength. There couldn’t be any beast stronger than them around here! That was why I was sure those children must be weaker than Altair and Spica!

After applying several buffs on them, I applied some [Barrier] magic on myself. To be honest… I knew I was a dead weight. Since I couldn’t help them in attacking the enemy, the least I could do was stay out of their way.

And so, I ushered them to face the enemy after giving them a quick pat.

『I got this! Oi! I know that green guy! Oh, right! Leave that guy to me!I will take care of ‘im!』

“Oh? Is that so?”

『That’s right! That guy got a wicked personality!』

Ooh… So magical beasts could know each other too…  I wonder what was the life of a magical beasts like before they got summoned to this world? But… It seems Altair hates that green bird beast.

“As expected from a brilliant support magician! The buff magic flows without any hitch…. Anyway… If you don’t come, I will come to you instead. Carcassa! Corvo! Go!”

I wonder why… I don’t feel happy at all even though he was praising me…

Jude-san commanded his magical beast while pointing his finger at us. His gesture reminded me of a certain monster trainer game that became the game that represented Japan. The bird beast and the skeleton beast came rushing to us after Jude-san called their name.

『Master! I’m going now! Don’t take your eyes off my splendid self!』

『Gyaa! Pigyagyagoa!』

『Shut the hell up! I can handle someone like you without my flame!』

Altair and the green bird were flying in the sky, talking about something. Altair was banned from using his flames so he shot countless numbers of his sharp wings toward his opponent. The green bird immediately created a gush of wind, repelling the direction of Altair’s blade wings. The green bird was only half of Altair’s size but I guess it was an opponent Altair would find trouble with without his flame?

『 You, don’t you feel tired having a master like him?』

『…………』

『Ah, I hit the mark, didn’t I? But you know… We can’t turn back now so prepare yourself!』

When I shifted my attention to the ground, I saw Spica talking with the bone beast. Somehow or another, they were able to hold a conversation together. Though it seemed they were not talking favourably about Jude-san…

Spica growled before he lashed his fangs toward the bone beast but his fangs got stuck between the ribcage. Spica pulled his fangs out of the ribcage forcefully and moreover,it seemed the bone beast didn’t suffer any damage from Spica’s attack. I guess physical damage wouldn’t work well against the skeleton beast. The skeleton beast was a bad match for Spica since he was prohibited from using any wind magic.

“That child… The yellow fluffy ball is not moving at all…? Maybe the yellow fluffy ball is some sort of special beast?”

I glanced at Jude-san. The yellow fluffy ball called Shèvre was still floating in the air, showing no sign of moving toward Altair or Spica. Either Shèvre was not the attack type or Jude-san was holding back because there were already two beasts fighting Altair and Spica. It was still hard for me to decide what the reason was.

“…. Those kids should be able to use magic, right? Why they’re not using any magic?”

“Err… There are various reasons behind it…”

Jude-san held his chin between his fingers and inclined his head to the side as he asked. I couldn’t say it was because the destructive power was too great. Jude-san would immediately urge me to show it to him instead.

“Hmm~ It’s going to be hard for Spica and Altair if the match continues as it is… They must’ve been relying on their magic all this time after all.”

Altair and Spica were on the ropes. Altair’s opponent didn’t have any ban on magic so of course the green bird had been using wind magic freely to deflect Altair’s attack. While Spica’s opponent hadn’t been using magic, Spica couldn’t land any damage on the skeleton beast either. At this rate, Spica was slowly losing his ground.

Now then… What should I do now?

“Shèvre. Apparently they’re not going to use any magic. Why don’t we finish this match quickly and do some experiments with them?”

『Piruppi~』

“Huh? What do you mean by ‘experiment’?!”

My eyebrows twitched at Jude-san’s uncanny remark.

I hope he’d stop referring to our children like some sort of lab rat and what does he mean by ‘experiment’ in the first place?

“Huh? But we’re having a match, right? That means the one winning gets to have some kind of reward~”

“I never agreed to that kind of condition though?”

“If I won, I’m sure other people would believe me more when I told them that. Don’t you think so?”

“Ah, so that’s how it is. I understand. I just have to win, right?”

He decided on all of that without our consent but still, it’d be hard for us to deny it if Jude-san told the audience that. They didn’t know for sure if Jude-san and I already had an agreement before the match or not so if I tried to deny it one-sidedly, the people would think I was being dishonest and couldn’t keep my own words.

Haaah… I actually wanted to win with just Altair and Spica’s strength only but right now I didn’t have the luxury to wish for such a thing.

“Shèvre! Go! Use [Paralyze]!”

“Why did you shout it out?! Are you an idiot?!”

『Ruru~ Piii~』

Just what he was thinking?! Why did he shout it so blatantly like that?! Oh… Except…. He’s planning to use a different magic and the shout was a distraction…? But I mean, he’s acting exactly like the trainer of that particular game!

Jude-san pointed his finger toward Spica and Shèvre appeared to cast some sort of magic but Spica didn’t seem affected in the slightest. Spica continued to fight the skeleton beast as if nothing had happened.

“Huh? Why doesn’t it work?”

“I mean… I did cast [Magic Barrier] at the start of the match…”

“What?! But Shèvre should be able to bypass that…”

『Uuu~ Ruuu~』

Turned out it wasn’t a distraction. Jude-san was seriously commanding Shèvre to use [Paralyze] and now they were both shocked because the debuff wasn’t effective against Spica. Anyway that meant Shèvre was the support type. Thankfully I had a cheat-like affinity with support magic or Spica would’ve been struck down on the ground because of [Paralyze].

『Damn it! If not for my promise with my Master, I’d already grill you into a roasted chicken! 』

『Gyaasu! Guaaaa! 』

『Ouch! Why do I feel hurt when I’m the one biting into him?! 』

『……』

Somehow or another, I have gotten the hang of battling with magical beasts… I wanted to end this match soon because I’d lose if I let this drag on and things would get troublesome later on but neither of us were able to land any decisive blows yet. My best option would be using [Root] but my opponents were moving quite fervently so it was hard for me to pinpoint them. The downside of [Root] was, you need to have the exact grasp of your opponent’s location.

When we were fighting the Redondo Dragon, the dragon was barely moving and the wizard I fought on our way to Laserna wasn’t moving as fast as these magical beasts. If only they would stop moving even for just a moment…

Ah, right. Before I got to the bird and skeleton beast, Jude-san and Shèvre weren’t moving. Maybe I should start from them first. If I do that, the bird and skeleton beast would be done with, right?

“Now that I’ve made my mind up… 【Root】”

“Ugh… Suddenly… Can’t… Move…”

“What is it? I told you then, didn’t I? Me and Jude-san are included in the match as well… Now then, you can’t move, can you? Do you want to give up now?”

Jude-san wasn’t even looking at me. He was busy focusing his sight on both Altair and Spica, making it easy for me to cast [Root] on him. Jude-san fell down because he was startled by the [Root] and he couldn’t even move a muscle to get up again.

Yes, I had told him that before and yet, Jude-san was still leisurely watching the magical beasts fighting as if it didn’t concern him.

“I refuse! Shèvre! Release me!”

“I won’t let you! 【Sleep】!”

『Ruu~』

“Shèvre?!”

He commanded Shèvre to release the debuff but of course I wouldn’t let him do that easily. I immediately cast [Sleep] on Shèvre. The yellow ball of fluff, who had been floating in the air, fell asleep and wobbled down to the ground. I felt relieved when I saw Shèvre landed safely on top of Jude-san.

“Now then, how about if you give up now? If you refuse, I will use [Sleep] on you…”

The other two beasts Jude-san had couldn’t be counted on since they had their hands full fighting my children. And also to begin with, they weren’t the support type anyway. They couldn’t lift the debuff even if they wanted to.

Jude-san could still move his lips but basically speaking, [Root] could only be released over time or if the caster removed it. Perhaps Shèvre would be able to cleanse the debuff since Shèvre was specializing in support magic like me but the yellow ball of fluff was deep asleep now.

I told Jude-san to admit defeat but…

“Don’t wannaaaaaa!! I don’t wanna loseeeee! Uwahhhhhhnnnnn!”

“Huh….”

What… He’s… Crying?!

Wait a min-

A fully grown man, without much gap in age with me and well over 2 meters tall was throwing a fit?! The magical beast that had been fighting Altair and Spica stopped their fight when they noticed their Master was throwing a fit. They made their way toward Jude-san’s side. Altair and Spica didn’t make any move to chase after their opponent either. They only stared dumbfoundedly at the sight before them.

『 Hey… That thing… Just what is…?』

『Beats me.』

“Wh-what should I do…”

Bewildered at the sudden turn of events, the two of them tilted their heads to the side. I was starting to get nervous too since I didn’t know what I should do at this point.

“Aaaah~ As always, he’s still a crybaby…. Guild Master! Isn’t it fine if we conclude Jude as the loser of this match?”

“You’re right. The winner of this match is Ren Himukya Cleva! ….. Your son is still a crybaby no matter how old he gets…”

Hugo-san, who had been watching the match from inside the [Barrier], shrugged his shoulders while looking exasperated. He went out of the [Barrier] to talk with Malik-san. In response to that, Malik-san declared me as the winner of this match but….

What?! Jude-san is Hugo-san’s son?! Ah… Which reminds me, I don’t think I’ve ever heard Hugo-san’s surname before…

“Hey you! Stop crying. You haven’t changed at all ever since you were little… Ren, sorry. This boy is always like this when he doesn’t get what he wants.”

“Uuuuugh… Because… I’m curious about those kids!”

“Aren’t you already an adult!? Don’t talk like that!”

“Haaah….”

Hugo-san grabbed and dragged Jude-san by the collar, even though Jude-san was much bigger than Hugo-san. After they got close to me, Hugo-san forced Jude-san to bow his head. I didn’t really understand but apparently Jude-san was the disorganized type? Or rather, was this his true skin?

“Ah, since we’re done with the match I will release you from [Root]. 【Release】.”

“Thanks… Uuuh… Hic…”

I felt sorry looking at him immobilized because of [Root] and if I left him be, he’d stay this way for half a day and so, I released him from the debuff. Jude-san thanked me while still hiccuping and sniffing…

“Err… Please stop crying. I can tell you a little bit about Altair and Spica if you want…”

“Really?!”

“Ren-chan…”

“Ren, you’re really…”

“Haah… This is so like you, Ren-kun…”

Jude-san kept on crying. His face was still full of tears when I told him that to comfort him. After he heard my suggestion, his face quickly blossomed into a smile even though marks of tears were still evident on cheeks.

Ah… I’ve done it…

I thought to myself that I had done this to myself again as I heard the voices of my three fiancés who were coming from behind me, leaving the protection of [Barrier] just like Hugo-san did.
