“Hm? Eda?”
I was worried about Mikal but I guess he needed some alone time to think so I just sat on my own and watched over the children. Then, Eda came over to me while smiling gently. When I was standing in front of her like this, even though she was only 14 years old, she was already taller than me. So, just for a little bit, really, only just for a little bit, I had to look up at her for a little bit when I talked with her. It honestly frustrated me a little. After all, the women in Alsar were all very tall too…
“Ren-san, those kids’ current form is not their real form, right?”
“That’s right.”
The kids Eda was talking about must be Altair and Spica. Just like what Eda had said, they were not in their real form. But I wonder what was the matter with that?
“Umm… Is it alright if I see their real form?”
“It’s fine but… Why?”
Eda seemed hesitant to say that she wanted to see Altair and Spica’s real form.
“I’m sorry. I simply just want to look at it.”
“Altair and Spica are originally pretty big though. Won’t you get afraid?”
“They are strong but after playing with them, I can see that they are very kind too so I’m sure I’ll be alright.”
“I see… Then, wait for a moment, okay?”
It seemed she simply wanted to see it but I wonder whether it’d be alright? Spica was about 3 meters tall, he was very big and although he looked adorable now, his fang actually looked really sharp and big too…Maybe it should be alright to show his real form to the children who were curious?
“Sig-san!”

“Umm, Eda said she wants to see Spica and Altair’s real form so I’m wondering maybe it should be alright to show it but….”
I scurried around, looking for Sig-san and told him about showing Spica and Altair’s real big form to the children. If Sig-san said no then I wouldn’t do it. After all, Sig-san was the one who knew the most about things here.
“I see… We need to get back soon so maybe you can show it to those who want to see it before we leave. You must be itching to show that Altair and Spica are not only cute but they’re actually really cool too, right?”
Sig-san stroked his chin with one of his hands, seemingly thinking about something. He then agreed to let me show the children Altair and Spica’s real form.
“Yes. After all, they are actually very cool.”
That’s right.
Spica looked so much happier when the children praised him for being cool rather than being cute. Altair looked jealous too…
“Okay then… Hey! Play time is going to end soon!”
“What?!”
“I still want to play!”
Sig-san clapped his hands loudly to attract the attention of the children to inform them that playtime was going to end soon but the children booed him instead since they still wanted to play. I hadn’t looked at the time yet but it should already be past 17:00. The sky was still bright but they should be starting to prepare for dinner so they really should stop playing soon.
“Be quiet! ……..Well then, I’ve told you guys that Altair and Spica are in their small form right now, haven’t I? We’re going to show you guys their real form at the end but… Their real form can be super big and scary so we will only show it to those of you who want to see their real form, okay? Those of you who want to remember their cute form only should go into your room now.”
Sig-san raised his voice so the children would calm down and then he told them about Altair and Spica. He suggested for the children who were easily scared to go inside first but currently, none of the children wanted to go inside first.
“Whoa, Al-chan! Are you going to become big?~”
『That’s right! But maybe I’m going to look so big for a puny kid like you!』
Gunnie was talking excitedly at Altair who was hovering in front of her. Altair also replied to her in the same excited manner although Gunnie couldn’t understand what he was saying.
“Altair, Spica, come here. Now then, can you go back to your original form?”
『Yeah! It’s been a long time since I get to use my original form!~』
『Yeah… It’s going to be extremely hard to stay in the city in our original form so it can’t be helped but… As I thought, I feel more at ease in my original form.』
I turned to Altair and Spica and told them to come over here. They all rushed to my side excitedly and then I stroked their heads gently. I told them to return to their original form and in the blink of an eye, they became a big magic beast.
It had been a long time since I last seen their original form but really, these two were still as big as ever. The two of them were moving around, stretching their bodies.
“Eh…. Fangs…?”
“Al-chan, you’re so big…”
“Amazing! So cool!!”
“Awesome….”
The reaction from the children was generally positive. Some were even brave enough to get close and touch them. Well, although there were some children who looked a little pale. Maybe they thought they’d be alright but after seeing the real deal, they became afraid. After all, Spica’s fangs alone were bigger than their arms. I could see the staff talking with the children that looked afraid.
“Ah, the kid from before is looking at here with sparkles in his eyes.”
“I guess it’s because these are the kind of magic beast he’s yearning for.”
“Well, he’s a boy after all~ Boys that age usually like that kind of thing~”
After hearing the comments from my 3 fiancés, I looked at Mikal who was resting under the shade of a tree. True to their words, even though Mikal had been keeping this sour look on his face, he was now looking at Altair and Spica in awe. I really could see the sparkles in his face.
Ah… I guess these are the kind of cool magic beast Mikal is thinking about?
Though unfortunately for Mikal, I doubt he’d be able to touch Altair and Spica because of how he behaved earlier. It seemed Altair and Spica wouldn’t want to let Mikal touch them.
Mikal gave me the impression that he was thinking of something like “I want to get close but because I’ve said something like that, I can’t get close now!”.
“Ren onii-san.”
“Hm?”
“Can I ride on Spica?”
When I was thinking that Mikal shouldn’t have said something like that while staring at Mikal, I felt a tug on my clothes. I looked below me and saw a boy around 5 years old tugging on my clothes. He asked if he could ride on Spica and he had a sparkling smile on his face.
The kids here are really adorable…
“Spica, as you’ve heard, this kid wants to….”
Will Spica let him ride on his back?
『I refuse. Only Master is allowed to ride on my back.』
“I see.”
I tried asking Spica but I guess while he didn’t mind the children touching him, riding him was still off the limit.
“….. I’m sorry. Spica might be big but he’s not suitable for being ridden by people.”
I gently stroked the boy’s head and apologized for refusing his request. I thought that using this excuse would be easier rather than saying that Spica would only let his master ride on him.
“So I can’t…?”
“Yes. I’m sorry.”
He asked again, his eyes were wet, as if he was ready to cry at any given notice but Spica had worked hard today so I didn’t want to force him to do things he didn’t want to do.
“U-….Uwahhhhhnnnn!! I want to ride him!!”
And then, the boy started crying. Tears were flowing from his already wet eyes.
“Hey! Oliver! You can’t say something so selfish like that. It’s already amazing that the magic beasts are allowing you guys to touch them, you know? …. Ah, I haven’t introduced myself to you. My name is Lucas. I’m a staff member here and I guess, I’m a good friend of Sig too?”
The beastman staff who had been guiding the other children earlier picked up the crying boy and patted his back to soothe him. He then turned to me and introduced himself to me.
Sig-san’s good friend?
“Aren’t you a ‘bad’ friend instead?”
“Huh? Well~ We’ve had a lot of fun together I guess~”
“Don’t say something like that in front of Ren.”
“But it’s the truth though…”
Sig-san denied that they were good friends and said they were ‘bad’ friends instead but when I looked at them talking like this, I could tell they were really close. Lucas-san must be a beastman from the canine family like a wolf. He was shorter than Sig-san but he looked sturdier than Sig-san.
Lucas had white hair and red eyes. If you just looked at his hair and eye color, he looked like an albino but he had dark brown skin. He looked like the wild but handsome type so I was sure he must be popular too. If Sig-san and Lucas-san were to drink side by side, they would be approached by many kinds of people.
“Well, I can sort of imagine it though.”
“Ren, now I’m fully devoted to you, okay?”
“Fufu~ I know~”
When I chuckled and said that, Sig-san looked a little flustered but currently I knew that there was no way Sig-san had any other partner but me so I thought that it was amazing he could change like this even though the two of them used to play around a lot.
“Huh? Are you guys flirting right in front of me now?~”
“Lucas, don’t stare at Ren. No, in fact, Ren, don’t look at that guy. Your eyes will rot.”
Lucas was staring at me with a confused expression on his face. Sig-san snided back at him but after that, he second guessed his wording and covered my eyes with both of his hands from behind me.
My eyes are going to rot, he said…
“Oi, oi… What’s the matter with you? Ah, right. Umm, Ren. I was talking to Sig-san about going for a drink with him, are you fine with it? Or maybe you’re the type that won’t let your partner drink with their friends?”
I couldn’t see Lucas-san’s face because Sig-san was still covering my eyes but from the tone of his voice, he looked like he was exasperated.
I see, going for a drink, huh. From the last bit of his words, it seems like he’s trying to test me.
“No. I hope the two of you can have a great time later.”
I pulled Sig-san’s hands away from my eyes with great difficulty and said so while smiling at Lucas-san.
Maybe he’s observing me to see how I will react? Well I guess he’s curious to know what kind of people I am since his good friend or maybe, I should say a close friend of him brought me here and introduced me as his fiancé.
As for me, I believed it was good to relax and take a breather once in a while and it was important to still hang out with your friend even after you were committed to someone else. So I really didn’t mind it.
But if you go out with your friends too often, I might raise a complaint of two though.
“Yeah. Well, I’m still going to go home together with you first though.”
“Is that so?”
“We can’t start drinking until after the children sleep so we’re going to meet up at 22:00. I’m going to be home late tonight so you can go to sleep first, okay?”
Ah, I see. Certainly after the children are sleeping, they won’t need too many adults on hand so the staff member will be able to go out after that. Since Sig-san said they’re going to start drinking at 22:00, I think they won’t be coming home until at least midnight tonight.
“Oh, where are we going to stay tonight? At another inn again?”
I just realized we hadn’t decided where to stay tonight after Sig-san said that I should go to sleep first. We had been staying at an inn for the last few days so maybe we would be staying at the inn again?
“Hm~ Since we’re going to return to Pedrell soon, how about we stay at Fer’s mansion since that place is the closest to the gate?~ We can get there in two hours anyway, right?~”
“That’s right. Ren-kun, what do you think about it?”
“I don’t have any problem with it.”
Right. The royal capital was really big after all. It was better to stay near the gate since we planned on leaving soon anyway.
I don’t know the exact distance between the orphanage and Fer-san’s mansion but I guess 2 hours travel is about right?
Fer-san also confirmed the fact for me and I didn’t have any objection about it so I nodded my head.
“Ah, if you guys are going to stay at the mansion then I will just kill some time here until it’s time for me to drink with Lucas. I will find somewhere else to stay at and go there in the morning. After all, going home late when I’m staying at someone else’s house is a bit…”
“I understand. I will inform the people at the house about you.”
It would certainly be hard to go here and there from the mansion so that way would be for the better. Just like what Sig-san said, if he started drinking at 22:00 and they drank for 2 hours… Then it’d take another 2 hours for Sig-san to get to Fer-san’s mansion…. I guess Sig-san will be staying somewhere else tonight.
“Oh, Oliver is already asleep.”
“Huh? Really?”
“Yes, that’s why you don’t need to mind it that much.”
“Yes.”
Lucas, who had been hugging the boy and patting the boy’s back while we were talking, looked into the boy’s face and saw that he was already asleep, probably because the boy was tired from crying. Then, his observing and calculating look from before disappeared, his gaze softened as he told me with a smile on his face that I didn’t need to mind it much for making the boy cry.
I realized Spica had disappeared from my side without me noticing it. I looked around restlessly for him and saw that he was letting the children touch his beautiful hair a short distance away from us.
“Then, shall we get back inside and say our greetings before we leave?”
“Yes. Altair, Spica. Return to your ring.”
『There we go. I will play with you guys later, okay?ほいなー。また呼んでや？』
『Master, you can call me anytime you want if you want me to play with them.』
With Sig-san still on my back, Chris-san said so while taking my hand into his. I then summoned Spica and Altair back into their rings.
“Amazing… Even though they look that huge, they can fit into these small rings.”
After witnessing the strange phenomenon before them, the children caught my hand and looked at the rings from all sides in puzzlement.
Certainly if they never saw things like this before, it must be so strange for them.

“Well then, if you’ll excuse us..”
“I will come back again.”

I rode on Victor together with Fer-san and was seen off by Balth-san and Hanna-san. Sig-san was also standing beside me, holding onto my hand. He gave my hand one last squeeze before he waved his hand to say goodbye.
“Now then, let’s go.”

“Chris-ani and Fer-ani too! Come and play again, okay!”

Fer-san handled the rein to change the direction of Victor’s movement and started heading to his mansion. We heard the adorable voices of the children from behind us so we turned our backs just enough to not fall off from the horse and waved back at them.
“Fufu~ Ren-chan, did you have fun?”
“Yes, very much. It seems Chris-san and Fer-san also had fun?”
“It was a very refreshing experience.”
“That’s right. Let’s go there again?~”

Chris-san pulled William close to Viktor and said so with a bright smile on his face.
Yes. I really had so much fun. Children are really healing. While I really had so much fun, it seems the two of them were enjoying their time there too. I’m glad we decided to come here…. We definitely need to come back again!
We then made our way toward Fer-san’s mansion leisurely while talking about trivial stuff.

I rode on Victor together with Fer-san and was seen off by Balth-san and Hanna-san. Sig-san was also standing beside me, holding onto my hand. He gave my hand one last squeeze before he waved his hand to say goodbye.
“Now then, let’s go.”
“Ren onii-san, see you later!”
“Chris-ani and Fer-ani too! Come and play again, okay!”
“See you later!”
Fer-san handled the rein to change the direction of Victor’s movement and started heading to his mansion. We heard the adorable voices of the children from behind us so we turned our backs just enough to not fall off from the horse and waved back at them.
“Fufu~ Ren-chan, did you have fun?”
“Yes, very much. It seems Chris-san and Fer-san also had fun?”
“It was a very refreshing experience.”
“That’s right. Let’s go there again?~”
“Yes!”
Chris-san pulled William close to Viktor and said so with a bright smile on his face.
Yes. I really had so much fun. Children are really healing. While I really had so much fun, it seems the two of them were enjoying their time there too. I’m glad we decided to come here…. We definitely need to come back again!
We then made our way toward Fer-san’s mansion leisurely while talking about trivial stuff.
