Chapter 57: Continue — Do you still want to continue with me?

After Ye Zhen Zhen had showered, she went to the table and opened her luggage case.

Although she had packed lightly for the trip, her small luggage case was filled to the brim on the return trip, like a bloated fat person.

Putting away her clothes and the D City local specialities, Ye Zhen Zhen glanced worriedly at the locked case she brought back from Li Jia Jia’s room.

The case was made of iron and shaped like a cube. She had found it at the very back corner of the wardrobe. Unfortunately, the case had a combination lock. She had tried several numbers, but the box wouldn’t open.

She reluctantly tried her birthday again, but Ye Zhen Zhen saw that the case did not budge in the slightest.

Giving up on the battle with the case, Ye Zhen Zhen rummaged through her bag for a while and then quietly tiptoed into Ji Zhe Yan’s room.

Ji Zhe Yan hadn’t closed the door, so when he heard light footsteps, his lips curved into a slight smile.

“Dr. Ji!” Ye Zhen Zhen hugged him from behind, leaning her entire weight onto him. “What’s this?”

Ji Zhe Yan’s gaze swept over the small booklet in front of him, his smile becoming a bit forced. “You actually stole a household register?”

Ye Zhen Zhen laughed proudly and released Ji Zhe Yan. “Dr. Ji, I am someone with a household register now; we can get married!”

Ji Zhe Yan looked at her, a somewhat vexed expression on his face. “But I don’t have a household register.”

Ye Zhen Zhen: “…”

With drooped eyebrows, she set the household register on the table and directly sat on Ji Zhe Yan’s lap. “Dr. Ji, you said you would reward me when I return.”

Ji Zhe Yan smiled and said, “Originally, there was a reward, but now it’s been rescinded.”

“Why?!” Ye Zhen Zhen looked at him with wide eyes, as if she had received a grievance as large as the sky.

“Because we still have an account to settle.” Ji Zhe Yan wrapped his arms around her waist and held her close to his chest. Ye Zhen Zhen’s heart trembled. She recalled how Ji Zhe Yan had said he had something he wanted to talk with her about on the phone.

……

“So what is it?” Ye Zhen Zhen’s hand pressed against Ji Zhe Yan’s chest, keeping a safe distance between the two, but the arms wrapped around her waist kept her close. Ye Zhen Zhen was unable to retreat at all.

“I heard from Officer Zuo that you seem to be in marriage negotiations with others in D City?” Ji Zhe Yan’s lips curved, as if he was remembering Zuo Yi telling him this in a schadenfreude tone.

Ye Zhen Zhen’s heart chilled instantly. She knew Li Su had been rushing to get her married, and she had heard that Li Su had narrowed it down to one person, someone who opened a food processing plant at home. Although the scale was not large, that household was quite well-off, with enough to spare if the households joined.

But, but…she felt that she was innocent! She even suspected that she left home because of this!

She saw the smile within Ji Zhe Yan’s eyes and also smiled. “Dr. Ji, this is an old matter. Furthermore, I don’t know anything about it. Do you care?”

“I care very much.” Ji Zhe Yan tightened his embrace.

Feeling the strength coiled in the arms wrapped around her waist, Ye Zhen Zhen struggled to maintain her smile. “No, you’re not so petty. You hadn’t cared when I was previously engaged to Qin Kong, hehehe.”

Ji Zhe Yan’s eyes shifted. Ye Zhen Zhen suddenly felt as if she had signed her death warrant.

“When you were previously engaged to Qin Kong, I was not your boyfriend, but now, you are mine.” Ji Zhe Yan kissed her after he said this. Although this kiss was not very gentle and soft, it caused Ye Zhen Zhen’s heart to flare up.

He said that she was his.

This was the first time Dr. Ji revealed such an intense possessiveness. Despite her lips aching from his nibbling, and the arms seemingly trapping her by the waist and digging into her skin, her mind was overflowing with happiness, such that not a single one of these concerns was prevalent.

Her head lightly met the pillow, causing Ye Zhen Zhen to realize that they had already moved to the bed. Ji Zhe Yan, however, had still not released her lips.

Because of their frequent practice, Ye Zhen Zhen’s lung capacity had improved remarkably since she first started, so she could still find the time to explore Ji Zhe Yan’s body during this dizzying kiss.

Those hands exploring his body felt a bit ticklish, which finally made Ji Zhe Yan release Ye Zhen Zhen’s bruised lips. He looked down at her with an ambiguous smile. “Like what you’re feeling?”

He panted lightly, his bangs slightly covering his eyes from view. Every word he spoke caused hot air to brush against her face, each warm breath causing her heart to throb…

Ye Zhen Zhen felt as if she was losing control.

“Dr. Ji…” she subconsciously called out, her voice so soft she dared not believe that it was hers.

Ji Zhe Yan’s body visibly stiffened. He furrowed his brows and buried his head into the pillow. “I’m…”

The rest of his words were muffled. Ye Zhen Zhen hugged him and whispered, “Is it okay for us to continue?”

Ji Zhe Yan did not reply for a long time. Just as Ye Zhen Zhen thought that he had already fallen asleep, he suddenly moved. “Okay.”

This voice was softer than Ye Zhen Zhen’s earlier. She was startled for a moment, thinking that she had misheard, but Ji Zhe Yan backed up his single-word response with action.

Although the previous persistence and apprehension were still there, he now wanted to act according to his heart. This person was his, so she could only be his.

“Are you in pain?” He raised his head slightly to look at Ye Zhen Zhen, worry in his gaze.

Ye Zhen Zhen blinked back tears and yelled at him with an aggrieved expression. “Not even slightly! See for yourself!”

Ji Zhe Yan looked down. He knew that it was not appropriate to smile at this time, but sorry, he really couldn’t help it.

“Endure a little…”

Following Ji Zhe Yan’s words, she was drawn into a light kiss brimming with gentleness as his body enveloped hers.

The next day, Ye Zhen Zhen was woken up by the phone.

She cracked her eyes open, but barely, and saw that the phone battery had been violently removed by Ji Zhe Yan.

The room fell silent again. Ye Zhen Zhen subconsciously asked, “Who called?”

“10086.”

Ye Zhen Zhen: “…”

She remembered that she had labelled Xi Cao gege’s number as 10086.

She glanced at the phone on the ground and decided to turn over this leaf.

“Dr. Ji,” she called out habitually. She wanted to snuggle into Ji Zhe Yan, but any small movement caused her body to ache. She realized this in a split second, after which her face became very red.

“What’s the matter? Are you hurt anywhere?” Ji Zhe Yan wrinkled his brows and brushed a hand across her forehead in worry. Good, no fever.

Ye Zhen Zhen tugged her blanket up and hid her face, not daring to look Ji Zhe Yan in the eye. Ji Zhe Yan stared at her for a moment before suddenly smirking. “What’s the matter, Gou Dan’er? Don’t tell me you’re acting shy? Do you still want to continue with me?”

Ye Zhen Zhen: “…”

Dr. Ji, that strange mode of yours turned on again!

She withdrew from the blanket and embraced Ji Zhe Yan’s waist. “Dr. Ji, will you take responsibility of me?”

Ji Zhe Yan thought this over and said, “If you do not graduate from university, I do not intend on taking responsibility.”

Ye Zhen Zhen’s face fell, looking as if she was a second away from crying. “Dr. Ji, I don’t go to university. I’m illiterate. I, I can only look after a supermarket QAQ.”

Ji Zhe Yan froze for a second before suddenly feeling distress. He cautiously pulled Ye Zhen Zhen to his chest and kissed the tears away. “I’m truly a fool.” 1

Ye Zhen Zhen’s expression immediately became more pitiful. “I, I got admitted to the Academy, but didn’t have money to study there.”

Dr. Ji had gone abroad to study to be a doctor. She was a supermarket sales clerk who only passed high school…how could life be so cruel!

“Anyway, anyway, I’m already Dr. Ji’s! Dr. Ji, if you abandon me, I will go to the hospital to accuse you!” Ji Zhe Yan hugged Ye Zhen Zhen tighter when she said this, as if he thought she was going to kick him from the bed for a split second.

Ji Zhe Yan stroked her hair and pressed his forehead against hers. “Mn, you are already mine.”

Ye Zhen Zhen’s ears turned red, though she had calmed down.

Ji Zhe Yan hugged her for a while before finally releasing her. “Are you hungry? I’ll go make breakfast. What do you want to eat?”

Ye Zhen Zhen closed her eyes and nuzzled Ji Zhe Yan’s bare chest, saying, “I want to eat whatever Dr. Ji makes.”

Ji Zhe Yan smiled and kissed her cheek before getting out of bed. “Go back to sleep. I’ll call for you when breakfast is done.”

“Okay…” Ye Zhen Zhen had no strength left in her body and tiredly closed her eyes after speaking. Ji Zhe Yan saw her breathing even out and lightly closed the door.

Ye Mansion. Zuo Yi led a team to dig through the whole garden.

Li Xin Ran glanced at the scorching sun above them and used a hand to fan himself. “Leader, is the murder weapon really buried in the garden?”

Zuo Yi smiled and said, “Since housekeeper Zhou led us here, what’s the harm in investigating a little.”

Li Xin Ran frowned. “She wouldn’t have buried the weapon in the garden herself, would she?” Did she say that someone knocked her out in order to interfere with the police’s line of sight?

Zuo Yi didn’t reply and instead glanced down at the soil. When a murderer escaped with the murder weapon, they would normally choose to discard it somewhere else after escaping. Burying it at the scene of the crime like this was indeed uncommon. Therefore, they had primarily focused on checking the perimeter of the Ye Mansion. In addition, this garden had been turned over completely at that time, so they hadn’t suspected at all.

He glanced in the direction of the doorway. Wang Er Gou was anxiously watching them. Zuo Yi’s eyes darkened. He had been standing like that all morning.

“Found it!” Hou Zi’s voice resounded, like a sharp sword suddenly tearing the vast sky asunder.
