Section Seven: Your Excellency Zhui Yun

Chapter 1 – Celestial Room

These people appeared to be either middle-aged or old, with most of them being on the older side. The teachers of the celestial school district were all celestial magisters seven-sword or higher. They could match the inner courtyard of the Qin Family. They even had three magus scholars among their members.

Due to their existence, even without Lan Xiu, who was the strongest in the Kaya Empire, the Imperial School could form a triumvirate of power with the imperial court and the Qin Family. Adding on Lan Xiu’s influence, if one had to rank the three major powers in Karroll, the Imperial School was the strongest.

The nine teachers were usually in seclusion and it was rare to see one, much less all of them together. Today, they had been forced out by the enormous noise Aofeng made when fighting.

When that twister rose, they all came close. As Aofeng and Ye Sha started to fight each other, they did not immediately appear.

A fight was very common in the celestial district. As long as there were no fatalities, the school never forbade fighting. A peaceful environment could not produce experts. Also, these old people were interested in this fight between this older and younger genius so they watched from the shadows.

But no one had expected the events to be so “spectacular” and that Ye Sha, the strongest of Battle Hall, would admit defeat first.

One old man with a goatee examined Aofeng interestedly. He brushed his beard and said with a smile, “Not bad, not bad, the new students this year aren’t bad. Principal Lan Xiu has a good student.”

Yun Qinghong had become low-key when they arrived. The teachers only saw Aofeng’s display of power, and did not pay particular attention to him. Even though he was also a celestial magister, he received much less attention under Aofeng’s bright light.

Aofeng nodded with slight coldness in acknowledgement.

“Ha, little guy, you are embarrassed.” The teachers laughed. Aofeng wore a mask and they couldn’t see her expression. But they took her silence to mean she was bashful at being praised.

The depressed Ye Sha looked back to see the black-robed youth’s aloof appearance.

He had just said the other was proud. Not it appeared he had been the one who was too proud. It was more appropriate for the other to say that there was always someone better. The other qualified to be proud but didn’t boast at all. Ye Sha felt much better when he thought of this. He started to admire Aofeng.

When the celestial magister rank students of the Battle Hall gathered, the old man in long blue robes, Lian Su, headed towards the Battle Hall inside the celestial school district.

Aofeng and Yun Qinghong walked together at the front, Ben Lei and Si Jian on her shoulders in the form of small cats. The silver wolf and the nightmare warhorse beside her. Mei Jun turned into a small fox and laid on Liao Ya’s back. Arthurus shrank ten-fold into the size of a human, a mimicry form he rarely used.

Because the behemoth was human-formed to begin with, Arthurus looked like a brawny large man. But he was covered in long golden fur and his features were slightly unique. Ordinarily, people would not think him human unless he broke through divine rank and could transform into a true human form.

People’s biases had been swept away by the display of power. Everyone reevaluated Aofeng who was covered in “small animals.” They no longer felt any dismissiveness.

They came to a spacious building covered in obsidian and valtz. Aofeng immediately saw the large words “Battle Hall.” This building had denser spirit energy than the plaza outside, and most likely more valtz in liquid state.

“The celestial school district actually doesn’t have many theory classes. In the celestial school district, cultivation is the main duty of the students. Celestial magisters can join Battle Hall and us old people can be lazy and not teach classes.” The old man with the goatee laughed. Maybe because they frequently interacted with students, these old people were much more casual and friendly compared to the elders of the Qin Family inner courtyard. Aofeng felt no pressure at all talking to them.

“What are those small rooms?” Aofeng pointed curiously at the seven thin corridors on the right side of the wall.

“Those are the celestial rooms that urge the students to advance. You will know the benefits soon.” Elder Lian Su said with a smile, “There is no pressure without competition. That is the same in the Imperial School. These seven rooms, from right to left, have an increase of double the spirit energy. The Battle Hall will have a tournament each month, and the top seven will qualify to enter these rooms. The left-most room, ‘Celestial One’, was originally Ye Sha’s place, but it clearly is yours for this month. Ye Sha, do you have any objections?”

Asking if he had any objections was actually asking him if he wanted to fight Aofeng again. Ye Sha and Aofeng exchanged a look and he shook his head, “I am less than them. I will give up the top two spots.”

“Two?” Elder Lian Su glanced in shock at Yun Qinghong. Aofeng had many magus beasts to force Ye Sha to retreat. But Ye Sha also respected this silent boy? He felt that Ye Sha respected the boy more than Aofeng.

The lazy man still had a devious smile lingering on his lips. His eyes were bright as he stared at Celestial One. Aofeng could feel that he was not calm, and her thoughts shifted.

With Yun Qinghong’s strength, he had no need to come to the school to study. Had he come for Celestial One?

When she thought of this, Aofeng said coolly, “Celestial One is Qinghong’s, not mine.”

Other than Ye Sha who had faced him directly, everyone else stilled, shock on their faces. Yun Qinghong was also slightly startled and said, “You …”

“The truth is so. I am not as strong as you. Do not thank me.” Aofeng said harshly.

Yun Qinghong was stunned. A deep smile appeared on the corners of his mouth. His black eyes narrowed as he laughed inwardly. The other was so awkward it was adorable, afraid other people would detect the good intentions. But if someone cared, how could they not feel it?

The man’s deep eyes were full of gentleness. He spoke in a low and enchanting voice by Aofeng’s ear, “I will not thank you. I will only give my life to you.”

He was pressed for time and pressured by the situation. He had to find a breakthrough as fast as possible. He could not refuse but he would remember Aofeng’s friendship.

Aofeng’s eyes widened as her heart shook. She could hear how serious the man’s words were. She became even more puzzled. She did not understand why Yun Qinghong was so good to her.

Ye Sha and Aofeng retreating stopped other people from making a challenge. The first three did not receive any challenges as though people looked up to them. A small challenge tournament was held for the last four spots before the ranking was confirmed and the keys given out.

“We will not talk more about other things. Do your best to reach magus scholar as soon as possible.” Teacher Lian Su patted Aofeng’s shoulder and said in a slightly grave tone, “Little Guy, showing off your talent is good, but there will be trouble that comes along with this. You have to be mentally prepared.”

“Teacher means invitations from different factions?” Aofeng’s eyes flashed and she said softly, “The school gathers students from the major factions. I have planned for this which is why I had no restraint.”

Elder Lian Su laughed out loud. “You looked like one with a stubborn temper. I hadn’t expected you to be so careful. Then this old man was worried for nothing. Go on, you will feel something different in the celestial rooms. I hope that you will be so freakish you will scare Lan Xiu to death.”

Who wouldn’t be happy to produce an excellent student? These old people did not have the pressure to compete like the people of the Qin Family inner courtyard. They amused themselves all day with teasing the young people, each of them more childish than the last.

Aofeng couldn’t help but shrug and laugh. She had never felt so relaxed.

She walked through a narrow walkway and opened the magic medium lock made from green stone. She opened Celestial Two. The walls of this room were made from obsidian with high purity valtz slowly flowing within. The cubicle was tiny with just enough space for one person to stand or sit. No wonder they had to fight to decide who could enter.

Aofeng felt the vastness of power to her shock when she walked in. It was multiple times the level outside. Here, people’s cultivation speeds would increase based on each person’s potential and it was of benefit to strengthening and reinforcing one’s body. This place was suited for her as she had levelled up too fast.

Aofeng felt that she found her new short-term target. If there were no other matters, she would stay in this room to cultivate and refine. This would be more effective than anything else.

“Arthurus, you do not have to follow me. Walk around outside, just do not cause trouble. I will mentally call you if there is something,” Aofeng said to the magus beasts and gave them a rare long vacation. The surroundings of the celestial school district were calm and beautiful. Even Xiao Bing wanted to go and roam around.

“Ah, Great Master, you are so wise! I am proud to follow a master like you!” Arthurus grinned when he heard that they could move around freely. After he gave his flattery, the magus beasts flew out.

Aofeng closed the door and sat down inside celestial number two room. Her mind sank into her body. She silently recited the Magus Divinity Spell and saw the Magus Divinity Power Source in her energy center tremble before it started to spin rapidly. The power in the room was visibly drawn into her body and turned into threads of light blue shamanic power.

A long time later, Aofeng’s body suddenly shook. She opened her eyes in shock. A silver five point celestial star appeared under her. She looked over anxiously and felt a wave of joy. There were three small silver threads in that fifth point!

After all the fights, she had levelled up in the superior environment of the celestial room. Aofeng felt that in this month, she still had room to increase.

Chapter 2 – Trouble Comes To the Door

After resting for a day, Aofeng’s mental state gradually calmed. She looked around in her internal space. The surroundings seemed to be empty. Her body was slowly absorbing threads of power from the vast world and turning it into her own power. This was the first time she focused on cultivating in such a peaceful environment and she felt very good.

Her eyelashes fluttered and she breathed out. Aofeng opened her eyes. Her black eyes seemed to shine even brighter. Her spirit and body had returned to their best condition.

“I hadn’t expected that the circulation of the Magus Divinity Power Source is tenfold in this environment. I might be able to reach four swords by the end of this month. This is great.” Aofeng opened and closed her hands in joy. She felt her body was filled with power. She benefited more from the celestial room than ordinary people. If she could stay in school for a year, she might really reach magus scholar.

When she thought of this, Aofeng felt pity for Lei Yufeng. “Pity Lei Yufeng is already twenty five and past the age of admission for school. He also has official duties in the Kaya Empire Court. Otherwise, he would quickly level up here.”

Kai Ge did not have any official position and could come study here. But Lei Yufeng had the title of “Thunder and Wind King.” There was no way he could be admitted to school. Each place had their rules. With Lei Yufeng’s pride, there was nothing in being a reading partner, but he would look down on changing his name to enter school.

Aofeng stood up and planned to meet Teacher Lan Xiu in the central district of the school. She opened the door and looked in Yun Qinghong’s direction. She knew that he most likely would not even step out the door in the short term and did not go disturb him.

Aofeng was smart enough to know Yun Qinghong desired the power to level up. She was almost certain that he was trying to reach magus scholar right now! The celestial rooms were not very useful to people who were magus scholar and above so Aofeng was sure of Yun Qinghong’s present cultivation.

Nine sword celestial magister! The tests at admission showed that he was in his twenties. She wasn’t a genius since she relied on the Magus Divinity Power Source. He was the true genius!

“Mama, mama,” As Aofeng moved to walk away, a little head poked out of her black robes. Large eyes stared at her as the head swayed.

“Lil’ Nine? Why are you out? You woke up?” Aofeng asked with a smile as she held the little guy in her hand and caressed his smooth head.

The little guy liked to sleep usually, most likely because he needed large amounts of rest in his infant stage.

Lil’ Nine used his small tail to prod Aofeng’s fingers and said childishly, “Mama, can you leave me in the room. If you leave me there, I can become big after a month.”

“Big?” Aofeng was shocked. She said, “To enter maturity and take human form? This celestial room is of benefit for magus beasts?”

“Mama, stupid!” Lil’ Nine rolled his eyes smugly. His tail swayed. “Spirit energy is useful to anyone. However, it is best for magus beasts like me in the infant stage. Our maturity stage is similar to you humans becoming magisters. There are no tangible effects before then.”

Aofeng couldn’t help but roll her eyes as well. This little guy dared to say she was stupid! However, it would be great if Lil’ Nine could grow up.

Aofeng lightly pushed Lil’ Nine and glared at him. “I am not a magic beast, how would I know? You are saying you can fight in a month?”

“Yes, yes!” Lil’ Nine hurriedly nodded and said proudly, “Mama won’t have to worry about that big battle. Lil’ Nine will enter the growth stage in a month and can use my strength. I will bite all the bad people for Mama.”

“Growth stage? Not maturity stage?” Aofeng said curiously.

“Mama, stupid again!” Lil’ Nine held his head high and snorted proudly, “Lil’ Nine is not an ordinary super-divine beast, how can I be compared with other super-divine beasts? Lil’ Nine can take human form in the growth stage and use power!”

“I said that I am not a magic beast.” Aofeng flicked the little guy and put him in the room .”Then be good and stay here to cultivate. I will visit you tomorrow.”

“Yes, Mama, don’t worry. Lil’ Nine will take care.” Lil’ Nine’s thoughts were much clearer now compared to when he was born. He was adorable and considerate. His eyes were large and lively. Even Aofeng couldn’t help but be enchanted by the little guy’s quick wits. She caressed his smooth head again before leaving.

It was late in the day, and the sunset was turning half the sky red.

Aofeng walked out of the battle hall. A teacher of the celestial school district came forward. His expression was slightly dark. “Zhui Yun, yesterday’s events seem to have grown. Just now, the commander of the Dragon Knights, His Excellency Lin Jiu, came with people and demanded to see you. They are still with Principal Lan Xiu right now. Go there.”

“The commander of the Dragon Knights? That Lin Lin’s older brother?” Aofeng raised her eyebrows.

“Yes, him.” The teacher said with a frown, “They have come ferociously. His Highness the eldest prince and several young noblemen on good terms with Lin Jiu and his brother were also invited. They demand to see you. The principal cannot drive people away when it involves the heir of the imperial house. We are in Karroll, and it is not good if we are seriously at odds.”

Aofeng made a sound of acknowledgement. She was puzzled. Even if she had seriously wounded Lin Lin, she hadn’t killed him. It would not be difficult for a healing type magus beast to heal him. He would just have to be bedridden for a few days. Why would they anger Teacher Lan Xiu?

She still nodded and said, “I understand. I will go now.”

The teacher patted her shoulder and said, “Do not worry too much. They are on our school lands. No one can touch our students here. You are going there to give the imperial house face. If they are really going to attack, Principal Lan Xiu is not weak.”

Aofeng chuckled and nodded. She wasn’t weak either!

“Everyone, please return. We need to go entertain some guests.” Aofeng’s eyes flashed coldly as she called mentally to Arthurus and the others.

Lan Xiu was clearly unhappy about the Dragon Knights coming to the school. He hadn’t even opened the receiving room and had the guests rest in the central district garden. He himself sat on a vine chair and admired the sunset with a cup of wine.

Two rows of knigths with grave expressions stood in front of the garden. They were knights of the eldest imperial prince and were loyal to him alone. All of them were rank three. At the very front were two rank four court protector-warriors of the Kaya Empire. Just like how Roth always followed Mo Zhu, they followed the eldest prince Mo Leng.

There were seven sword masters. The eldest prince had two, and the second and third princes each had one. Mo Ling, because she was not in the line of succession, had no one. The other three always followed His Majesty the emperor.

Also present was the dark-faced Dragon Knight Commander Lin Jiu, the only son of the minister of finance Xue Lin, the young commander of the Karroll City Guard Yan Gui, the daughter of famed general Hong Yue who was just below the Lightning King in fame Hong Qing and the members of other prestigious families with their protectors. There were many celestial rank experts and the lineup was a powerful one.

Even so, no one dared to slight or speak in anger towards Lan Xiu. Lan Xiu was giving them face in not immediately throwing them out. Their lineup was not enough for a magus scholar to whet his appetite.

However, Lan Xiu felt that he could not casually suppress the disappearance of two Dragon Knights. If he was “harbouring” Aofeng, she would not be able to wash herself of the stain. This would affect the Imperial School, and would harm Aofeng’s reputation and future. A powerful enemy was not a good thing.

“Your Excellency Lan Xiu, why hasn’t that Zhui Yun appeared?” Lin Jiu’s appearance had remained ugly this entire time as he repeated his question once again. He received Lan Xiu’s unconcerned glance.

“I have sent someone to inform him already,” Lan Xiu said coolly. “I hope you understand that I am calling over Zhui Yun to prove innocence, not so you can bully my student. If Your Excellency Lin Jiu has any opinions, forgive me if I cannot sit and watch.”

Lin Jiu froze slightly when he heard this. He suppressed his anger and said, “Your Excellency Lan Xiu, do not worry. If it isn’t him, we will not harass him.”

While he said this, Lin Jiu was filled with fury. This was his only brother, and one of the Dragon Knights. He had been burned to ash in public by this person’s subordinate. How could he not feel pain? Then Lin Lin inexplicably disappeared after the matter. This Zhui Yun was the most suspicious.

How many people dared to challenge the Dragon Knights in the empire? Who knew if this Zhui Yun had other protectors?

As Lin Jiu thought about this, he was filled with hostility towards Aofeng who had not yet appeared. The noblemen present were also furious. Randomly wounding Dragon Knights was slapping the Kaya Empire in the face!

A horse suddenly whinnied. The waiting people looked towards the source of the sound. Above their heads, a small black dot slowly grew larger.

Lan Xiu also looked up slightly. A hint of shock appeared in his blue eyes as he smiled.

This little guy did not know to be low-key. Coming out with a divine beast at the start to frighten people?

However, if one did not have great strength, they would not be treated as equals by these people of the upper classes. Aofeng clearly had considered this which was why she chose such a flamboyant entry.

A black-robed youth sat on top of a handsome black horse. The youth’s elegant curves seemed to be edged in gold by the sunlight. She seemed to merge with the beautiful world. Two kittens sat on each shoulder. She carried a furry small white fox in her arms. A silver wolf and a human-shaped large being closely followed the black horse as she descended from the skies like a deity.

V02-S07-C03

Chapter 3 – Your Excellency Zhui Yun

A prince on a black horse!

Also, black was more mysterious than white, and had an indescribable cold charisma.

“So handsome.” Some of the noble ladies were intimidated by this entry. They stared unblinkingly at Aofeng as though they forgot they were here to support Lin Jiu and make trouble for Aofeng.

Many young women thought, no wonder Her Highness Mo Ling’er liked him. Compared to Old Man Lin Lin, this youth was more attractive and of similar age to Her Highness Mo Ling’er. Lin Lin had been a Dragon Knight, but he might not have as high a status as the other’s subordinate who was also a celestial magister. If it were them, they would choose Zhui Yun.

Aofeng landed on the outskirts of the garden and walked in. She did not fly in directly. This was her respect for Teacher Lan Xiu. Aofeng felt the utmost of respect towards Lan Xiu.

The central district represented the seat of power for the school. The buildings here were grand, tall, and dignified. The large streets all led to the central garden. There, Lan Xiu and the others were waiting.

Aofeng successfully walked between the two rows of knights. She was cold, proud, and elegant as she walked. Her footsteps rang clearly against the marble slabs so smooth they could be mirrors. The magus beasts behind her stood upright, their chests puffed out.

As the black-robed youth walked forward slowly, the celestial rank experts in the surroundings were shocked.

The two sword masters next to the eledest prince were the first to be shocked. Their gazes gathered on Aofeng as they said disbelievingly, “Six celestial rank magus beasts? Three divine beasts? And a top tier bloodline nine star divine Crimson Gold Behemoth?”

“This boy’s magus beast lineup is terrifying.”

Many of the protectors for the noblemen shook slightly and had a momentary daze. Then their expressions changed and they reported to their masters. Whispers rose in the surroundings. The people here were high class members with status and power. They were restrained and did not scream or shout.

Experts of celestial rank or above could see the ranks of nine star divine beasts or weaker. The magus beasts appeared in their mimicry state but did not disguise their presence so the experts could see them clearly. While the experts did not know the strength of Aofeng, they felt that they had to face Aofeng seriously just for these magus beasts. Also, many people had keen eyes after staying so long in higher class circles. Aofeng’s presence was vast, and not one that a one sword spirit magister could have. This was at least a high sword-rank spirit magister.

The young noblemen were shocked to hear this and their gazes completely changed when they looked at Aofeng again.

“The rumors say that Zhui Yun is a master beast tamer. This is not false. Just from the number of magus beasts, this person’s mental power is more than three times that of ordinary people. With so many high ranking magus beasts, if he is also a high ranking spirit magister, his combat power will be above the two of us working together. We cannot dismiss this,” one of the court protector-warriors whispered the warning to the eldest prince.

“Your Highness, do not become enemies openly with this person. Even if he killed the Dragon Knights, do not move rashly. Based on the present situation, his future accomplishments may be above that of His Excellency Lan Xiu, not to mention his status as a master beast tamer.”

“Do not worry. I understand. I have good relations with my third brother and fourth sister. I would not bully their friend.” The young man in white robes who sat lazily in his chair said at a volume only the two sword masters could hear. He laughed lowly, “Also, I know I cannot touch someone that His Excellency Lan Xiu wants to protect. I’ve just come to see this Zhui Yun.”

This man looked to be twenty five or so. His features were neat, not ugly, but not handsome. He possessed the aura of a nobleman and was dressed finely. He was a type that women liked. This was the heir to the Kaya Empire, the eldest prince, His Highness Mo Leng.

Mo Leng’s eyes lit up slightly. He looked peaceful and cheerful but he was a very cunning person. Lin Jiu most likely hadn’t expected His Highness Mo Leng to speak of coming to get justice but was in actuality intending to recruit Aofeng.

A master beast tamer! If he could recruit this person to his camp, then he would have more weight in his fight over the throne with his second brother. He could also gain positive feelings from His Excellency Lan Xiu. Why wouldn’t he do this? Lan Xiu was certain to protect this person. With this was an excuse, the Dragon Knights could not say anything about him.

“Teacher, I am here.” As everyone’s thoughts swirled, Aofeng walked in front of them and nodded slightly at Lan Xiu.

Lan Xiu put down his winecup. His blue eyes were as gentle as water. He did not mind the cold attitude as he knew Aofeng’s personality. He waved for Aofeng to stand by him and asked in concern, “Have you adjusted to the school? If you have any difficulties, tell Teacher and Teacher will take care of it as best as I can.”

Aofeng felt warm inside. Her lips curved slightly in a smile as she said softly, “Teacher, do not worry. Everything is good. I found my present cultivation goal.”

“That’s good.” Lan Xiu looked at her warmly and nodded. He said with a smile, “Come here after you are done each day. I promised my good student to teach you well. I cannot break my word.”

“Teacher, do not laugh at me.” Aofeng laughed. She thought back to Qin City when she hadn’t known of Lan Xiu’s status and thought he was just the teacher of a small school. She hadn’t expected such words to be fulfilled.

Teacher and student started to chat idly and ignored the group of people. Even the eldest prince was suspecting that Lan Xiu was doing this deliberately.

“Cough cough …” Lin Jiu could no longer resist and interrupted, “Your Excellency Lan Xiu, since Zhui Yun is here, let’s talk about serious matters first. When this is done, we will leave.”

At this time, Lin Jiu was not so confident in his words. Aofeng’s appearance with the group of magus beasts had stunned everyone present. Many of the people he recruited to his side were switching sides. He felt even more angry and panicked but he could not say a thing. He had never felt so helpless since he became the commander of the Dragon Knights.

Aofeng looked around. Her gaze landed on Lin Jiu and she asked coldly, “You are the commander of the Dragon Knights?”

Lin Jiu frowned. He could not maintain his calm at the youth’s cold attitude. He nodded, his gaze dark, as he said, “Yes, I am the commander of the Dragon Knights, Lin Jiu, and also the older brother of Lin Lin, who your subordinate injured.”

Aofeng made a sound of acknowlegement. Her black eyes swept around everyone present. She snorted with slight disdain, “Lin Jiu, you came here with so many people to get revenge for your younger brother? He could not win so he urged you to come with your friends to make trouble. He really brings honor to the Dragon Knights!”

Aofeng did not want to pretend after already having performed the beating and expressed her attitude without any politeness.

“What are you saying?” Lin Jiu’s anger erupted at the tone and said, “You beat up my younger brother, and feel no remorse. You bully others because you have the support of His Excellency Lan Xiu. Is this the tone that a common person like you should have when talking to the commander of the Dragon Knights? Calling a first-rank duke by his name when you do not have any status is enough for me to throw you in jail!”

Then he turned and said to Lan Xiu who raised an eyebrow, “Your Excellency Lan Xiu, even if you are protective, please be reasonable. I give you face and do not argue about this matter but he has insulted a Dragon Knight and must apologize to me!”

Lin Jiu’s words were angry but not outrageous. Many people felt that Aofeng was too proud and looked down at others, the example of a spoiled member of a prestigious family.

Some of the celestial rank experts in the surroundings showed some dismissiveness in their eyes. Youths who were too proud were not likable.

Before Lan Xiu spoke, Aofeng laughed again and said, “Lin Jiu, you do not respect me, why should I respect you? Yes, you are a first-rank duke of the empire, and I am a common citizen. However, I remember in the Kaya Empire’s laws, being polite to nobility is just for the average person. Isn’t it correct that magisters do not have to bow and follow the rules like ordinary people?”

“Yes, but that applies to celestial rank and above, and you are just t…” Lin Jiu’s expression was dark but before he could finish, his eyes widened. He seemed to be struck by lightning and unable to speak another word.

The eldest prince Mo Leng jumped off his seat like a spring. The other noblemen and protectors were dumbstruck.

The sword master next to Mo Leng exclaimed softly, “Heavens! This … this is …”

A silver five point celestial star shimmered with light under Aofeng’s feet. Under the sunset, the black-robed youth looked almost sacred as the blue shamanic power wrapped around her figure.

Other people might assume that she was fearless because she had a strong teacher, but Aofeng never thought about relying on Lan Xiu. She used the crudest method to make Lin Jiu shut up!

“When we are of equal status, respect should be mutual. Lin Jiu, you can call me by name, but if I call you by name, it is a great crime? You first insulted the dignity of a celestial rank expert. I have the right to ask you to respect me!” Aofeng said coldly. Her eyes flashed coldly as she stared at Lin Jiu. The other seemed to still be in his shocked daze.

The surroundings were deathly silent. Lan Xiu was also given a fright. He smiled bitterly and shook his head. A three-sword celestial magister magister under the age of sixteen. This was a great surprise for him.

Lin Jiu froze. His tongue seemed to be tied up. He softened, “Zhui Yun … Your Excellency Zhui Yun …”

Chapter 4 – Power, Status

Lin Jiu immediately realized his loss of composure when he spoke. His face turned purple and embarrassed.

The black-robed youth’s presence just now had intimidated him, a seven-sword celestial magister magister and Dragon Knight Commander. This was fantastical to think of. In that moment, he felt that he wasn’t looking at this young person but the authoritative and noble His Excellency Lei Ting.

Lin Jiu clearly lost this battle.

The surrounding people started to shift after their shock passed. The students of the school were mostly focused on their awe towards powerful experts but these members of the upper levels all understood the extraordinary meaning behind the enormous five point celestial star — it proved this youth’s strength. It meant that a bright new star was going to rise!

A fifteen year old celestial magister, and a three-sword one at that. A true genius!

Master beast tamers were influential. Ordinary people would not dare provoke them but their influence was to dispatch others. Water from afar could not douse a fire nearby. Not every person was willing to sell their lives. When a master beast tamer encountered a major faction, they would not respect you unless you joined another faction. But true strength was different. One’s strength was one’s strength. You could use it as you wished. Great power determined one’s status.

In the history of Radiance Continent, no one had become a celestial magister at such an age. This was five years earlier than the last genius! What was the meaning in five years?

Lan Xiu Daren was two hundred and seventeen this year. He became a celestial magister when he was twenty two, and a magus scholar when he was thirty two. Aofeng was even more of a freak. If she did not encounter too many obstacles that changed her mental state dramatically, it was a matter of fact that she would surpass Lan Xiu, the strongest of the Kaya Empire!

Originally, people had just wanted to wait and see. Now they unhesitatingly stood on Aofeng’s side, even if they would offend the Dragon Knights! A three-sword celestial magister who possessed so many high ranking magus beasts and had combat power equal to that of a seven sword celestial magister was rare among the top factions!

“Your Excellency Zhui Yun, you are a young and admirable genius.” The son of the minister of finance, Xue Lin, gave a friendly smile towards Aofeng. “I heard about Your Excellency’s great feats in the siege of Neversetting Sun long ago. You were a great part of protecting the people of Kaya. I have always wanted to meet you. It is a joyous matter to have this wish fulfilled today.”

“Yes, my father admires young heroes the most. Your Excellency Zhui Yun is truly a hero.” The beautiful daughter of the famed general Hong Yue, Hong Qing took a step forward. Her smile could enchant all men. “If Your Excellency doesn’t mind, you can come visit the Hong Family at any time.”

The young city guard commander Yan Gui was not skilled in interacting but he still followed, “Our Yan Family will welcome Your Excellency Zhui Yun at any time.”

“Our Willing Corporation …”

**

Lin Jiu almost died in anger as he watched the young nobility he brought along “betray” him and express goodwill towards Aofeng.

However, he was helpless in this situation. All the upper class families followed this kind of rule “there were no eternal friends, only eternal interests.” Their conduct was always to increase the interests of their families unless they were extremely good friends. They were unreliable in all other cases, just like now.

Lin Jiu had not expected that something would occur in his trip here.

Aofeng neutrally responded before she narrowed her eyes slightly and looked over. “Your Excellency Lin Jiu, you can speak of your aims now.”

Lin Jiu’s anger had no place to vent. The feeling of being led by the nose was not good but he had to go along with Aofeng’s words. The situation was almost one-sided right now, and being stubborn was of no benefit to him.

“It is like this. My younger brother and a dragon knight of the corps have disappeared inexplicably. This is something that has never happened since the KayaEmpire was founded. As the commander of the dragon knights, I have to investigate. That day, you were the only one who had a conflict with my brother so …”

“So you think that I sent someone to kidnap or kill Lin Lin?” Aofeng finally understood. No wonder. The disappearance of two dragon knights would be a major event in the Kaya Empire.

“No no no, we just want to ask Your Excellency if you saw them afterwards. We do not suspect Your Excellency.” Xue Lin laughed from next to Lin Jiu. He stared warily at Lin Jiu and caused the latter to feel very dispirited.

Don’t you feel it is embarrassing to say this? You came ferociously with so many people just to “ask.” Who were you fooling?

Aofeng naturally would not believe such words. She moved her gaze and suddenly raised one hand, saying in a cool voice, “I swear to the heavens here that I never saw Lin Lin and the other Dragon Knight after registration day, nor did I send anyone to kill them. If I break this oath, let me be struck by lightning.”

The silver covenant formation lit up. the rules of the universe formed, and the oath took effect but nothing happened.

“Ugh …” Everyone was shocked by Aofeng’s rapid conduct. No one reacted in time to expect Aofeng would swear an oath so easily!

“Aofeng …” Lan Xiu was full of shock and emotion. His blue eyes grew even more gentle. Just like back at Qin City, Aofeng was still so methodical and always thought on behalf of others.

Right now, Lin Jiu had no way of doing anything even if Aofeng avoided discussing this question. Experts usually cared greatly for their dignity, especially when Aofeng had such pride. Being forced to swear to the heavens was already a great humiliation in the eyes of others. If not for him, Aofeng most likely would have ignored Lin Jiu and might verbally anger him instead.

Yes, for him …

For Aofeng, this matter was no great trouble as Zhui Yun was not her true identity. But for Lan Xiu and the Imperial School, this would stain their reputation. The Dragonrider Corps were the guardian gods of the Kaya people, and respected by thousands. Aofeng did not hope that Teacher Lan Xiu get a bad reputation of “protecting students” and being criticized by all.

Even if Lan Xiu was willing, it was still not alright!

Looking at the stubborn black-robed youth, a part of Lan Xiu’s heart was touched. A thought went through his mind. Maybe, his luckiest decision in his life was to accept such a “cold” student.

“Does this work? Do you have any other suspicions?” Aofeng looked around coldly.

Everyone woke up. Even Lin Jiu couldn’t help but shake his head and said, “No, Your Excellency Zhui Yun, I know that this matter has nothing to do with you.”

After an oath to the heavens, what suspicions were left? The rules of the universe could not be surpassed and there had been no loopholes in the oath. No matter what great skill Aofeng had, the rules could not be disobeyed.

Lin Jiu still felt some animosity towards Aofeng’s subordinate for wounding his younger brother, and angering him today. But the others felt that it was slightly outrageous forcing a celestial magister to make an oath to the heavens. Since the matter had nothing to do with Aofeng, they had no reason to come here.

“Your Excellency Zhui Yun, apologies for today,” Mo Leng, who had been quiet the entire time, spoke. He smiled and walked forward. He said in a familiar and warm tone, “We have brought you much trouble due to our rashness. I deeply apologize. There is a Midautumn court banquet next month, the sixth day of the seventh month, where all the nobility will attend. I sincerely invite Your Excellency. Will Your Excellency be willing to attend?”

The Midautumn court banquet? Everyone was shocked. That was an event only true nobility could attend. Countless people were scheming to get a space!

His Highness Mo Leng’s move was so clever. He did not extend a true olive branch but this would not stir any negative feelings while still recruiting this youth. Which youth wasn’t spirited and desired to join the upper class?

Aofeng had no interest in events of this kind. She originally wanted to refuse but then her thoughts shifted. Since the nobility were going, then would she see Mama Su Ya?

When she thought of this, Aofeng’s heart heated up. She had missed Mama Su Ya since they separated at Neversetting Sun. She wanted to thank Mama Su Ya.

“Alright. I will go,” Aofeng nodded and responded. The sixth day of the seventh month was the night before the big fight. At that time, Zhui Yun should disappear. She would go to attend the tournament as Qin Aofeng. It would be good to see Mama Su Ya then.

“Then I will wait for Your Excellency Zhui Yun to arrive.” Mo Leng smiled in satisfaction and handed over a red invitation. Then he called for the other people who were still looking at Aofeng to bow to Lan Xiu before bidding farewell.

Once no one was left, Lan Xiu had no more constraints and said to Aofeng with a smile, “Aofeng, this Midautumn banquet is a good opportunity. Prepare well. Maybe there will be unexpected surprises.”

“Surprises?” Aofeng stilled. She looked at the red invitation and said curiously, “Teacher, isn’t this banquet just a dance event for the nobility?”

“Of course not. What you speak of is just a part of the banquet. The biggest benefit of the annual Midautumn Banquet is not here, but at the treasure conference, which is the ‘auction’.” Lan Xiu explained. “The Midautumn auction is the largest auction each year, and the precious treasures of the continent can all appear there. Maybe you won’t care about other treasures, but there is one you will definitely like.”

Aofeng asked interestedly, “What is it?”

Lan Xiu chuckled. “Valtz, high purity valtz that can let you jump several sword levels in a night. Aren’t you interested?”
