It was evening and Kavya was on her way to meet Heena and others at their home.

It has almost been a week and there was still no news regarding Satvik. Hence, Kavya made sure to visit the 'Ladies' daily to check on them and make sure they weren't deprived of anything.

Even though they were more like a competitor when it came to earning Satvik's love, Kavya had now started to get along with gullible Heena and haughty Sneha.

*Knock!-Knock!*

She knocked on the door and after a few moments, someone came running to the door.

When the door opened, Sneha stood there with an excited smile which soon died after looking at Kavya and her gaze fell.

Kavya got on her knee and patted Sneha's head gently. It was quite obvious that the little girl was expecting Satvik at the door instead of Kavya.

"So how's you're mum and Aria?" questioned Kavya with a gentle smile.

Kavya turned around and while pulling Kavya inside the house, she said, "Mumma is in the kitchen and Aria sneaked out a while ago."

"She's been doing that for days now!" she completed with a sigh.

While trotting behind the little girl, Kavya nodded with a neutral expression.

Since the day Satvik has been missing, neither of the three has smiled and the house itself was filled with gloomy vibes.

When Kavya reached the dining table, she saw Heena dazzlingly looking inside an empty utensil.

"Ahmm-Ahmm!~" Kavya cleared her throat to break Heena's trance and the latter turned around.

"Oh! Lady Kavya, when did you arrive?" Heena questioned while walking toward the busty fox.

"Just a while ago. I gotta say, I have never seen anyone look inside an empty pot with that much concentration," Kavya replied while joking.

Heena's gaze fell while she tried to smile but it never reached her eyes.

Kavya sighed and said, "Jeez! The gloomy environment of this house..."

*knock-knock!*

But before Kavya could finish her phrase, they all heard a knock on the door.

Heena lived in a slightly abandoned neighbourhood and people hardly visited her home, yet someone was knocking at their door at this hour. All three women looked at each other with an expecting gaze.

From deep inside their hearts, they all wished that when they would open the door they would find the man with obsidian eyes in front of them.

*Grrrr!~*

However, when Heena reached for the door, Aria was also back inside the house and a low aggressive growl escaped her mouth as she stared at the door with an aggressive posture.

Kavya didn't miss her co-adventurer's action and she as well reached for her whip that was hanging from her waist and readied herself.

When Heena hesitantly opened the door, she saw a familiar blonde-haired man standing in front of her with an annoyed expression.

Heena's eyes opened wide and she took a few steps back.

The man was looking at Heena in confusion and while examining her from head to toe, he was still trying to find out the reason behind the woman's action.

"It's the bad man!" yelled Sneha while pointing toward the man.

The blonde leaned slightly left and looked at Sneha who was standing behind Heena.

Then as if he remembered everything, he looked at the mother-daughter pair with an expression filled with disgust and muttered, "Ahh! It's filth pair!"

"So he was hiding in this bit*he's lair!" he scowled.

Kavya walked between him and Heena and in a cold voice said, "Get the f*ck out of here!"

The blonde turned around and while looking at the people behind him, said, "Look at this! a whore, acting all high and mighty, Hahahaha!!"

"Hahahaha!~"

"Heheheh!~"

People accompanying the blonde started laughing in unison with a disgusting laugh.

Kavya gritted her teeth in frustration as she looked at the group of people accompanying the man.

A few of them were the lackeys she had seen inside the dungeon while a few were armoured up and most probably were mercenaries.

Only she and Aria could fight. And given the current circumstances that they had to the same while protecting Heena and Sneha, they were at a great disadvantage.

"What do you want from us?" Kavya questioned while she was still trying to find a way out of their current predicament and gesturing for Sneha and Heena to move to another room.

The blonde man looked at Kavya with a scowl and said, "We have some business with that cat and her master."

"You filthy beings can f*ck off from here!" he completed while looking at the three beastkins present there.

Then suddenly one of the lackeys spoke up, "Hey! can't we have her?"

The blonde man looked at his comrade then back at Kavya and while shrugging his shoulder said, "Well throw some gold coins at her and she will happily spread her legs for you."

"Well, that's what lowly whores usually do. Don't you agree?" he questioned Kavya while looking at her with disdain.

Viens started popping on Kavya's forehead and she attacked him with her whip.

*Thwat!~*

The blonde man crossed his arms in front of himself to block Kavya's whip. The whip tore through his academy uniform and he was pushed back a few feet outside the house.

However, his smirk made it clear that he hardly felt that attack.

"Ohh! She's an aggressive one, ain't she? I'm having a sudden urge to make her obedient in bed!" one of the men said while laughing lecherously.

Kavya ignored the lecherous gaze and once again declared, "Leave this place immediately!"

Soon Aria walked next to Kavya while baring her fangs at Akhil and his group.

Akhil didn't pay any attention to Kavya's warning and his gaze was fixed on Aria who was looking at him with a ferocious expression.

A euphoric smile appeared on Akhil's face while looking at the familiar that would soon be in his collection.

"I'll take you in!" he declared while looking at Akhil in response to which a roar escaped Aria's moth rejecting his decision.

"A beast is a beast at the end of the day, huh!" he muttered while shrugging.

Then a smirk appeared on his lips as he said, "Well, I know very well, how to make a beast submit..."

Then two magic circles appeared in front of him and two demonic-looking beasts walked out of it.

Kavya had already seen the demonic beast in the dungeon during their previous encounter. However, now two beasts that looked like a pair of hyenas were baring their fangs at them.

"Take care of that cat. Don't kill it but make sure it submits to you!"

Akhil order echoed in the silent night. He was sure that now the cat familiar's instincts would kick in and it would start feeling intimidated in the presence of a beast stronger than it.

However, to Akhil's surprise, Aria didn't even feel intimidated and was still glaring at the laughing pair of beasts, with the same ferocity if not more.

A creepy smile adorned Akhil's face and now his desire for Aria skyrocketed.

Meanwhile, the mercenaries moved closer to Kavya while brandishing their weapons.

"It's a brawl then!" muttered Kavya.

As soon as those words left her lips, the enemies charged at her and Aria.

The duo also readied themselves.

The battle that was centered around Aria can simply described as a beast brawl. There were no skills or magic used. Just fangs and claws being used by all of them to gash each other.

A tiger's roar was being suppressed by the laughs of hyenas.

Meanwhile, Kavya was surrounded by several enemies and they were sneering at her.

Then suddenly she vanished and in an instant appeared next to one of the swordsmen.

However, a mocking smile appeared on the lips of the swordsman. He immediately turned to his side while swinging his sword and yelled, "Do you think that a whore like you could beat me in a fight!"

*Ghhhh...!*

The swordsman felt his sword cutting through the woman in front of her and her ghastly expression confirmed that his hit met the mark.

However, soon a smile appeared on Kavya's face and her presence disappeared and in her stead stood another adventure holding his bloodied shoulder that was obliterated by the sword strike.

"H-Ho.....HOW?" yelled the first swordsman in disbelief as he looked at his sword which was still embodied in his mate's shoulder.

Akhil was also sure that the swordsman had hit the fox but in an instant she disappeared in the mist, leaving everyone confused.

Then he remembered, that a few lessons that he paid attention to in the academy had already been discussed with the current situation.

"Illusion Magic!" muttered Akhil while observing the fight from a distance.

It was rare magic in the plans. However, there were few demi-human races out there in the world that had mastered the art of smoke and mirrors.

While Akhil concluded, Kavya had already dealt with the other three adventurers.

*Tch!*

Akhil clicked his tongue in annoyance and muttered, "What a failure of a mercenary are you guys?"

"Just don't solely rely on your visionary senses and use other senses and instincts to deal with her!"

The mercenaries nodded and instantly shut their eyes and focused on their other senses.

Kavya's face grimaced. Satvik had told her earlier that illusions were not perfect and illusion cradle skill would crumble the moment her opponents started using their other senses instead of their eyes.

Now the tables had turned and Kavya was facing the brunt of attacks of seasoned adventures.

No matter how well she had trained with Satvik in the past weeks, she lacked experience compared to the seasoned adventurers who had been in several life-and-death situations.

She could handle one-on-one but the circumstances didn't dictate so and she was now being pummeled by surrounding enemies and her body was now covered in heavy glasses and she was bleeding profusely.

At the corner of her eye, she could see that Aria was in a similar situation if not worse.

Aria's fur coat which shone brightly was now damped with red blood and several gouged skin and muscles were hanging from her wounds.

While Kavya tried to dodge and parry strikes of enemies, all the sweet memories of Satvik started to flood in.

Her gaze was becoming hazy as sweat mixed with blood covered her entire body and she thought, 'Is it going to end like this.'

'I had to tell him so many things....had to share so many moments....'

Then her hazy gaze fell on Heena's and Sneha's slightly battered bodies. Heena's face was covered with tears and despair yet she was holding back wailing Sneha who was eager to rush Aria.

Then a sword flashed in her eye, closing down on her like a guillotine bringing her life to an end.

All Kavya felt was disappointment. When she wanted to live life to the fullest again, destiny was denying her that wish.

*thwack!*
