The servant I made eye contact with blushed and turned away, his face turning red. Against his bulky appearance, he spoke hesitantly.

“The execution of the heretics is scheduled for tomorrow morning. The Chief of the tribe will surely repay the disgrace for the Angel, hmm, for the Angel’s honor.”

Another servant standing beside him stepped forward and urged me,

“Yes, please come inside and rest, Angel. We are concerned about your well-being due to the Waroom.”

That Waroom, you guys were the ones who spread it.

I wanted to express my anger, but I calmly endured it and nodded my head. Then, pretending to turn back into the house, I covered my mouth with my hand and started coughing.

“Cough, cough… cough.”

It was a pitiful and pathetic cough. The servants reflexively rushed to support me.

“Angel!”

“Are you okay, Angel?”

I lifted my hazy eyes once and then lowered them. I could feel them following the movement of my lake-like pupils.

“In fact… I might be truly corrupt.”

“What?”

The servants all gasped in surprise. I continued speaking.

“As an angel, I keep having thoughts I shouldn’t have… thoughts of wanting revenge against those who made me like this.”

I squeezed out tears desperately. Fortunately, the sparkling tears cleanly dropped from my eyes.

“Angel…”

The largest servant showed a pained expression on his face.

Isn’t this pitiful? The weak and innocent Angel, tormented and blaming himself, is so pure and pitiable, right?

I spoke with a trembling voice.

“Perhaps, if I were to end my life, could I cleanse this sin…? To dare to have revengeful thoughts as an angel… I don’t even deserve the title of an angel!”

Saying that, I pretended to make a hand motion of strangling myself with both hands. Sobbing was just an extra touch. However, my hands didn’t even touch my throat. The servant rushed in like a flash, grabbing my wrists and forearms, preventing me.
The big servant even shed tears.

“Please, Angel, don’t do this!”

“Angel, you are allowed to seek revenge! Lord Mars would rather order revenge!”

“Yes, Angel! We are the warriors of Sablum! Revenge, blood, and war are our identity!”

Then they looked at each other and conversed with their eyes.

“Angel, we will take you to where those bastards are. Go and slap or do whatever you want to them, Angel.”

“But you must do it in front of us.”

I lowered my head, wiping away tears, and smiled with remorse. But when I raised my head again, there stood only the conflicted, pitiful, and beautiful Angel, with eyes moistened by tears.

***

The servants took me to an isolated part of the village. It was the farthest building from the village’s only entrance, a warehouse used for storing agricultural tools and supplies. I had never come this way during my strolls, so I didn’t know such a building existed in Sablum.

There was a chain tightly wound in front of the warehouse door. Attached to the chain was a massive padlock, but instead of opening it with a key, it had a mechanism where the lock itself was turned, structurally setting a code. It was as if they had confined a giant monster, judging by the meticulous restraint. However, with several layers of thick chains blocking the door, there was no one guarding in front of it.

It seemed that the knowledge of how to open the lock was limited even among the servants. One servant stepped forward and began turning the lock in various ways, as if solving a puzzle. After a while, he successfully pulled the chains.

The servants crowded around to pull the heavy door, and with a creaking sound, it opened.

“Please come inside.”

Three servants entered the warehouse first, while the remaining three surrounded me from behind. I slipped between them and entered the warehouse.

The inside of the warehouse was dark and slightly chilly. There was a small window, but it was so tiny that only two adult male fists could fit through, making it seem impossible to escape through that window unless one was a fairy.

“Narcissus!”

Alan was the first to see me and shouted.

Andrea and Alan were tied to the warehouse pillars. Both were standing with their torsos bound with ropes, their faces bruised and their clothes dirty, as if they had been beaten.

Andrea’s condition was especially severe. One of Andrea’s eyes was swollen shut and turned a dark shade of red. Blood streaked across his forehead, nose, and mouth. If not for his black hair and clothes, I wouldn’t have recognized his face, as it was so disfigured. His black clothes were also covered in muddy footprints and dust. I was at a loss for words at the cruel sight.

“Do as you wish, Angel.”

“We will handle the aftermath.”

The servants stepped aside. I struggled not to shake as I approached Andrea. Andrea weakly raised his head, moving his unharmed eye to examine me.

“Any injuries…?”

His voice, low, flowed out pitifully, even though it was hard to understand. I took a deep breath to steady my emotions. And then…

Smack.

I struck Andrea’s cheek with all my strength.

“Ugh…”

Andrea groaned, bending forward. It didn’t achieve much since his body was securely bound, but the impact lowered his head.

The servants behind laughed heartily. One of them even clapped, shouting, “That’s it, Angel!” Alan, tied to the next pillar, looked at me in surprise.

“I can’t believe I trusted someone like you.”

I spoke calmly, unaffected by anyone’s reactions.

“I was living well until you came and ruined everything.”

At my words, Andrea lifted his head. His uninjured eye was shaking intensely. In the darkness, his pink eye looked as if it were tinged with blood.

“It’s better this way. Die here. Let’s never see each other again.”

“Del…Del..why…”

Andrea stuttered, trying to say something.

“If you’re going to deceive me with sweet words again, just shut your mouth.”

And then, I gave his cheek a swift slap. It wasn’t a particularly hard hit, but Andrea, even with the slight impact, winced in pain. He looked terribly agonized.

“I know why you hate sweet things. It’s because they enchant people. It has no nutritional value in them.”

Understand. Realize what I’m doing right now.

I reached out to the servant behind me, hoping desperately.

“Give me the knife. I want to do it myself.”

The servant hesitated, holding onto his waistband.

“That’s not allowed. The execution is scheduled for tomorrow in front of the Chief…”

“Hey, Exi! The Angel asked for it!”

The large servant scolded, shouting

“Sometimes you have to do it with your own hands!”

He postured like a man showing off in front of someone he wanted to impress. The more foolishly he behaved, the better for me. It was time to drive the wedge. Thinking that, I spoke loudly.

“Enough. You don’t have to give it to me. It’s better if I strangle myself with my own hands.”

I was about to reach for Andrea’s neck with my hands.

“Angel, use my knife!”

The large servant abruptly handed out his knife. It was a very large and heavy-looking blade.

“Shall I assist you?”

The servant asked. I shook my head.

“It’s okay.”

I accepted the knife. Except for the large servant who seemed pleased to see me, the other servants took a defensive stance. Even though I was a frail-looking angel, holding a knife made them tense.

I pretended not to know, lifting the blade high above.

“Hyaa!”

With a roaring shout, I swung the knife. The blade sliced through Andrea and fell with a threatening whooshing sound. The owner of the knife enthusiastically applauded.

“Nicely done, Angel!”

As soon as he finished saying those words, the servant’s head fell off. His body collapsed a few seconds later.

“Pop!”

Another servant called his name, but soon, that servant’s head also fell to the ground. It happened in the blink of an eye.

I turned away from the pillar and turned around. In front of me, Andrea, now freed, stood holding a knife.

“If you had swung a little deeper, not only the ropes but my body would have been cut as well. Del.”

Andrea chuckled and then swung the knife, cutting down another servant. The bodies of the servants fell like straw dolls.

I pushed the thick ropes lying on the ground with my foot. Even though they were despicable people, it was difficult for me to watch them die right in front of my eyes, so I stared at the ground. Andrea seemed to understand my feelings and didn’t say anything more.

“Angel!”

The last remaining servant called out to me with a disgruntled voice. I couldn’t bring myself to look at him, clenching my fist tightly. The sound of a deep stab with a knife was heard.

“Angels should go to heaven. Don’t bother tormenting people like a piece of shit.”

Andrea spat out the words.

10 seconds. It took just 10 seconds for the situation to come to an end after Andrea was released from the ropes.
