As soon as my command was made Andrea’s pupils changed. Then, as if nothing had happened, he sat back on Billy, putting his feet in the stirrups. Although he didn’t put his knife away, he held the reins and started running behind the centipede while holding his knife.

“Priest! To the right! Run towards my opposite side!”

Andrea shouted while riding Billy. Although Alan seemed puzzled by Andrea’s sudden change of mind and let out a short laugh, he quickly regained his composure and urged Millie forward.

The centipede’s head suddenly turned from above. Seeing us going behind it, it seemed to be trying to turn around in a hurry, but its long and bulky body made its movements sluggish. Andrea had definitely targeted this weakness.

The centipede was wondering which of the small creatures running around it should crush first. It seemed burdened by its sluggish body as it struggled to think while focusing on using its head.

Taking advantage of the centipede’s hesitation, Millie and Billy ran faster. Andrea’s voice was now so distant that it couldn’t be heard. The Centipede was still contemplating who to chase.

‘If we completely leave the centipede’s territory… there’s a chance of winning!’

I sincerely thought so, and it seemed that Andrea and Alan thought the same way.

The centipede slowly lowered its head downwards. It seemed like an action to observe us more closely rather than an intention to chase anyone. However, when the centipede’s head was close to the ground, I realized that something long was on top of its head.

“Angel!”

“Ugh!”

It was a person. Moreover, someone I knew.

“Isn’t that person… the chief?”

Alan, who looked back, asked in astonishment.

The tribal chief, holding the centipede’s antenna like a steering wheel, stared at me with a determined look.

“If you don’t want to die, it’s better to come back!”

If he really wanted to make me come back with those words, the chief was the worst persuader.

“Even stealing Kurum, you have become a completely corrupted angel!”

I didn’t understand what he was saying, but it seemed that the names of the creatures we were riding, Millie and Billy, were Kurum.

“Angel! Don’t regret it!”

Veins bulge on the chief’s bald head. He looked extremely strong and brave. The way he controlled the giant centipede monster as if it were his own limbs looked heroic.

The chief shouted, “Uaaah!” and put strength into it. As he did, the sandy-colored centipede, like a soldier receiving a commander’s order, began to advance towards us.

As the centipede started to move, the ground shook again. Millie, who was running fast, jumped up in surprise.

“Hold on tight!”

Alan said, putting his weight on me as he pulled Millie’s reins. Perhaps due to his daily prayers and meditation as a priest, Alan didn’t easily waver. He calmly pulled Millie’s reins. Millie, who had been scared by the powerful force of the opponent, seemed to feel relieved when she realized that Alan was in control. The confused monster soon calmed down and regained its original pace.

At that moment, the centipede let out a blood curdling scream, yelling, “Ki-eek!” When I turned around, the centipede looked angry and was turning towards Andrea.

“You foolish thing! I told you to go towards the angel!”

The chief, frustrated with the centipede not following his orders, twisted the antenna sideways. However, the centipede, seemingly possessed, continued to chase Andrea. Looking closely, a small knife was stuck in the centipede’s upper body, likely thrown by Andrea.

Well, if you get stabbed with a knife, being angry is understandable, huh?

Billy, ridden by Andrea, was slightly faster than Millie. To accurately throw a knife while riding such a fast creature, Andrea was indeed extraordinary.

“Oh no, darn it!” The chief exclaimed, taking something out from his waist and pouring it over the centipede’s head. From a distance, it was clear that it was a Waroom.

So, the way to tame monsters was with Waroom. Well, considering its highly addictive nature, increasing the quantity would likely have the same effect on monsters.

The centipede, having consumed the Waroom, roared louder than before. Then, much faster than before. Now, the centipede was coming towards us, not Andrea. Not only that, but due to pulling its head forward and lowering its height, the chief’s eye level was close to ours. The chief was almost right behind us.

“What did I say, Angel? I told you that you would regret it.”

The chief laughed maliciously. Although there seemed to be no more Waroom left for the centipede, the chief body was a weapon himself. He stretched out his thick forearms menacingly.

“Hey!”

Alan urged Millie further, but Millie was already running at her best. Eventually, the chief’s hand touched Alan’s back. It was the moment when the chief tried to grab Alan’s clothes.

Swish, thunk.

A thrown spear flew from a distance and pierced the chief’s arm.

“Ugh!”

Startled by the sudden pain, the chief staggered with a scream. Unfortunately, since he had already caught the centipede’s antenna, he didn’t fall, but he got some distance away.

“Get away from my master.”

A chilly voice reached us. Andrea, who had run to our side, threw three spears at the chief all at once. Where he had hidden such weapons was unknown.

One spear flew into the air, but the remaining two accurately stuck into the chief’s shoulder and arm. Grimacing with pain, the chief glared at Andrea.

“You! Since you came to Sablum, nothing good has happened. Alright, I’ll kill you here and retrieve the angel!”

“Just give it a try.”

Andrea’s expression was frighteningly calm and cold. Bending his body, he felt around his ankle, pulling out a new dagger from his pants. Without giving the chief time to react, he immediately threw the dagger.

“Ki-eek!”

This time, the dagger embedded right in the center of the centipede’s head, just under the chief’s feet.

“That knife is coated with a deadly poison. Your pet there will probably experience quite a headache,” Andrea chuckled.

As he spoke, the centipede shook its head writhing in discomfort. The chief struggled to hold onto the centipede’s antenna. Thanks to Andrea’s poisoned dagger, the centipede’s pursuit came to a momentary halt.

“Now’s the time! Run!”

Andrea shouted as he led the way.

Instinctively, I hugged Millie’s neck, lowering my posture, while Alan urged her forward with determination. We ran fast, fully focused on escaping.

From behind, it seemed that the poison was spreading, as the centipede wildly twisted its head. It felt like the right moment to escape. We could make it if we kept going!

Then it happened. Andrea and Billy, who were slightly ahead of us, suddenly fell down. Just as I was thinking, “What’s happening?” Millie, the creature we were riding, also began to plummet.

“What!”

It seemed like a massive hole had opened up in the desert. Sand poured down like a waterfall, and a black abyss opened up, swallowing us. From a distance, I could hear the chief screaming in a similar way. It seemed like the centipede and him were falling together.

The entire desert area where we were had started to collapse.

“Never let go of Millie!”

Alan shouted from behind, holding onto me. As if I had any intention of letting go. I tightly embraced Millie’s neck, and tears welled up involuntarily.

Why is my fate so twisted? I was just a smiling boy who thought he was an angel. Why won’t they leave me alone? Is it only over when I die?

“Waaah, I don’t want to die!”

Despair overwhelmed me. It was when I cried uncontrollably, burying my face in Millie’s mane.

“Huh, a human? What’s going on?”

A thin voice of a woman came from above. Alan tilted his head up to look up her.

“[Surgio].”

As soon as the woman said that, Alan and I bodies floated into the air. It was the same with Andrea. I stared blankly at this unbelievable sight, sniffing.

The three of us floated higher and higher. It seemed like an invisible force was pulling us upward. When I turned my head, far in the distance, I could see the chief also floating in the air.

When we reached completely above ground, the woman spoke again.

“[Vacatio].”

We landed on solid ground. The sand was soft, so it didn’t hurt.

“Huh? I’ve seen this handsome face before. The pretty boys who visited my house, right?”

The woman pushed up her thick glasses and took a light step back. She was looking at Andrea and me, as if she knew us.

“Otakia…?”

Andrea asked, standing up. The woman identified as Otakia looked stunned and grabbed her chest.

“Calling my name hurts. Damn it! I came to catch monsters, and why am I stuck with three handsome men and a baldy!”
