Alan, who was changing clothes, lifted his head at the commotion coming from outside. He hurriedly went out to investigate. Startled and intrigued by the noisy scene, the orphans gathered in front of the orphanage, their knees covered with dust.

“What’s happening?”

Alan asked, and the oldest girl among them replied, “The carriage overturned.”

“The horses too!”

Another child provided more details.

Sure enough, there was a large carriage overturned on the roadside. The horses were struggling to get up from their fallen position, whining and crying out. Not far away, a wheel was missing from the carriage. It seemed to be a random accident.

If Narcissus had witnessed this scene, he would have been quite surprised…

Alan thought so as he scanned the surroundings. He was looking for Del, who might be somewhere watching the situation with wide-open eyes. Strangely, Del was nowhere to be found.

“Hey, kids, did you happen to see a man, as beautiful as an angel, around here? He has hair that looks like melted gold and is wearing a brown coat.”

“I don’t know. Haven’t seen anyone.”

“Did an angel visit our orphanage?”

“The angel has left!”

The kids exclaimed with excitement. However, Alan’s face gradually turned pale. Belatedly, the orphanage director came out and asked what was going on, but Alan was already too distracted to respond.

The calm and composed favorite of the gods, who used to smile with patience and compassion, had suddenly disappeared. In his place was a person in a hurry, with a desperate and impatient heart, like a child who had lost a precious possession. Alan rushed past the children and, without answering the orphanage director’s inquiry about what happened, quickly jumped over the high iron gate and headed towards the street.

As people gathered around the accident scene, trying to fix the horses and carriage, the street was crowded. Alan continuously muttered, “Excuse me,” as he pushed through the crowd. If he had been wearing a priestly robe, people might have shown more respect, but dressed in the worn-out plain clothes borrowed from the director, everyone stared at him with disdain.

Alan broke away from the crowd and walked up the opposite street. However, Del was still nowhere to be seen.

Had the miracle of the gods just disappeared like this? Did the gods abandon Alan?

That was when it happened.

“Sigh, tsk tsk, he looked quite young. Tough luck, I guess.”

“He seemed to have completely lost his mind, right?”

Voices of a man and a woman discussing with their tongues clicked were suddenly heard from behind. Alan turned around to approach them.

“I’m sorry, but may I ask about what you just said? Um… about whom were you talking about?…”

Alan didn’t even know what he was asking. A dark premonition suggested he shouldn’t have asked, but his mouth moved on its own.

A well-dressed gentleman, seemingly with his wife, glanced at her briefly before lowering his voice to respond.

“There was a young man riding that carriage. Unfortunately, he hit his head badly when the carriage overturned. Covered in blood, he was taken to the hospital.”

“A young… man? Um, was he, by any chance, blond?”

As Alan’s voice trembled severely, the woman standing beside them, covering her mouth with a handkerchief, expressed a sympathetic expression.

“Yes, that’s right. He had really beautiful blond hair.”

Perhaps that man could be Del. No, it was certain. In Alan’s mind, Del’s face was already vividly drawn, rushing to catch the carriage to sneak away and getting into an accident, blood flowing from his head.

“Where did he go?”

In a desperate tone, Alan asked, and the wife hesitantly shook her head.

“We don’t know that part.”

“Please… madam…”

“Oh, we really don’t know.”

As Alan approached with a face that seemed on the verge of tears, the husband shielded his wife and they left, looking uncomfortable.

Alan clasped his trembling hands together.

“Eura, please… please take care of the miracle you sent. Make sure Narcissus returns safely…”

Then Alan realized. If Del died, it would be over, and even if Del survived, he wouldn’t return to him again. Del was the miracle of Eura that Alan first discovered. Not only that, he was the first person to get angry for Alan, though he caused resentment to others and engaged in theft and lies, he was a rogue brother. He was truly beautiful like an angel and sweet like a fruit.

Alan took a deep breath and composed his dizzying mind. This wasn’t the time for this. He would search every hospital in the north. If he found Del again, there would be no ‘end.’

He breathed with determination, his eyes sharpened. He was solely focused on finding Del, and without the trained senses of a knight, Alan was unaware that someone was observing him from behind.

Far away, a man with a black mask leaned against an alley wall and blew a whistle.

“There are always these pests around our Daffodil.”

He said, shrugging his shoulders, then turned around with a playful smile. His subordinate behind him bowed his head and said, “The blond double was handled well. We’ve sent one to each hospital in the north, so it might take some time to find him.”

“Well done. Now, you can return.”

After the subordinate saluted gracefully, he vanished like the wind. Incredibly swift, almost unbelievable for a human. However, the masked man showed no surprise, took out a lollipop from his pocket, popped it into his mouth, hummed a tune, and disappeared somewhere.

4. Fugitive

I was riding a carriage a bit away from the accident scene, heading towards the Northern Wall station. And there, I met someone unexpected.

“Sir Knight?”

When I expressed my surprise, Devan quickly knelt down.

“Young master, I thought you would come here.”

He assumed that I had run away from the temple with the intention of returning home, so he promptly came to this checkpoint.

“I’m not going home.”

As I spoke, Devan looked at me with shocked eyes. Judging by the intense trembling of his pupils, it seemed like he thought I had made some major mistake.

“But…!”

“I’m not going back there. Remember, my father expelled me from that place.”

“But…!”

“And if my sister, who is in a coma, happens to die, I might be accused of being a murderer and face execution.”

“That may be true, but young master, wandering the streets like a beggar is not a solution!”

Devan acted as if he heard someone saying that I would commit suicide. Well, considering that I, a lackluster and unreliable young master of a noble family, had become a fugitive, it was understandable that he would think that way.

“I have another place to go.”

“Where is that?”

“Well, I want to keep it a secret and go alone…”

As I blurred my words, Devan suddenly stood up.

“That cannot be allowed! I will accompany you!”

While saying this, Devan pulled out something from his pocket. It was a pouch containing money and a vial of potion.

“This is the money received from Count Narciss for escorting and taking care of you up to the north. It’s quite a sum.”

“I have money as well.”

“T-this is a potion to take before using teleportation magic! It helps with motion sickness.”

Oh, that was tempting. The first time I used teleportation magic was quite agonizing, so I was a bit apprehensive. When I showed interest in the motion sickness potion, Devan skillfully hid the vial behind his back.

“I will give it to you if you let me accompany you!”

He’s quite a good businessman.

After contemplating for a moment, I concluded that taking Devan along wouldn’t cause much harm. When I nodded and extended my hand, Devan’s face instantly brightened. After securing promises from me several times that he would accompany me, he handed over the potion vial. The potion had a slightly sour taste but was bearable. Devan took the empty vial from my hand, disposed of it, and cheerfully left, promising to buy the tickets.

Is it really that great to go with me? Could it be that he genuinely likes me? Perhaps there’s a hidden ending in this version with a hidden male lead. But I quickly dismissed such thoughts. Why? Because…

“Sir Knight, you’re not handsome.”

Although he was tall and well-built, his face was far from handsome. A hidden male lead wouldn’t have a face like his. I felt sorry for Devan, but that was the truth.

“I bought the tickets! Since there’s no carriage this time, we can just go to the Magic Circe, sir.”

I received the tickets from Devan, and together, we ascended to the magic circle. Before the magic array circle activated , Devan grabbed my hand with a tense expression.

“Please hold onto me tightly.”

“Got it.”

“But, sir, why are you heading to the Aurora Forest? Are you planning to hide in the forest?”

I had asked Devan to set the destination near the Aurora Forest before buying the tickets. The reason was simple. The male lead I wanted to capture was there.

I looked at Devan and gave him a big smile.

“I’m getting married.”

Before Devan could express his surprise or ask anything, a dazzling light burst from the magic circle. And then we disappeared
