Before stepping onto the teleportation magic circle, Cain gave me a potion, claiming it would reduce motion sickness. It had the same color and taste as the one I had taken from Devan before. Come to think of it, I wonder how Devan is doing.

We quickly returned to Cain’s room, where a teleportation magic circle was installed in one corner. It was convenient beyond words.

I placed the food, which filled my arms, on the empty space of the cluttered table. As soon as we arrived, Cain pulled one of the strings installed all over the room. Then, he released the transformation magic. Watching his skin melt, facial features change, and clothing turn into a simple black robe, I marveled once again. It was a strange and fascinating sight.

Cain, transformed back into the tall and well-built man with red hair, shook his head from side to side, resembling a large dog. As I kept staring at him, Cain pointed to the bed with a grunt.

“Why are you just standing there? Sit or lie down. Don’t stand there awkwardly.”

“Yes, you mean, just get some rest?”

I responded jokingly. Cain’s face immediately turned red.

“Wh-who said that? Your personality is really strange.”

Who is the strange one?

I chuckled and went to sit on the bed.

“I need some clothes to change into. I can’t just lie down in my outdoor clothes.”

“Doesn’t matter. Just lie down.”

“It’s covered in dust.”

Not really, but since the village’s roads were mostly dirt, dry sand dust had stuck around my calves. Without responding to my words, Cain pulled the string a bit more roughly. Before shaking it a few times, someone opened the door and entered.

“You called, Magic Tower Lord?”

“Huh?”

At the sound I made, the visitor turned their head to look at me. Their appearance was very familiar. Well, we had just come back from the village together. It was none other than Heron.

“Ugh…”

Heron looked at me and let out a deep sigh. His face was filled with a sense of sorrow.

“Magic Lord, haven’t I told you several times that experiments on human bodies are strictly prohibited by imperial law? If it’s just extracting flesh or blood, that’s one thing, but you shouldn’t kidnap and bring people here.”

Heron as if scolding a child. I was dumbfounded by his misunderstanding, but soon I realized that he wasn’t entirely wrong. After all, I did come here for human experimentation.

“Shut up. Hey, Heron, do you go around cursing me outside? Do you want to die? Huh?”

“What are you talking about?”

Heron retorted with an unjust face.

“Even here, I go around swearing, Magic Lord, I don’t just do it outside.”

“That bastard.”

Seeing Cain seriously cursing Heron without a hint of laughter, I secretly felt a bit of favorability for him. I sat quietly and watched Cain and Heron. They were bickering, but their relationship seemed quite good. Cain’s trust in Heron was especially evident.

“Go and bring the mind receiver and some new clothes. It’s what he will wear.”

“Why did you summon me when you could just use teleportation magic?”

“Just take the opportunity to get a closer look at his face.”

Cain pointed at me and said. Heron’s gaze landed on my face. I awkwardly nodded in greeting. He carefully examined me with discerning eyes.

“The mana… it’s peculiar.”

For a moment, it felt like his eyes twinkled. Were all wizards like this? I frowned, but Cain and Heron paid no attention and continued their conversation.

“Indeed, he’s an intriguing test subject, but… still, according to imperial law…”

Usually, it’s considered unethical, right? It was truly terrifying to see them poke their thighs with a face that looked like they were drooling as they kept mentioning the imperial law. I was starting to wonder If I had made the right choice by coming to the Magic Tower

“Don’t touch him. Because It’s mine,”

Cain said firmly.

“Anyway, for that reason, he will be staying in my room for a while, so please know . “Bring what I said.”

Heron seemed like he wanted to say something more, but Cain snapped his fingers sharply. Then Heron disappeared without a trace.

“Well, what’s this?”

“I expelled him from my territory.”

He casually said and proceeded to pour the blood he had drawn from me into a round flask he had prepared before we went to the village. Then, he took a purple potion from somewhere and mixed it with my blood. Soon, purple smoke began to rise, and bubbles formed.

“It’s not a creature like a demon or spirit. It’s a real human.”

Cain murmured.

“Of course. Did you suspect that at first?”

“Well, because of your splendid appearance. There are beings that wear such skins to blend in with humans and bewitch them.”

Cain waved his hand in front of my face as if demonstrating. His point was that my overly beautiful face was a suspicious factor.

I touched my cheek. Being too handsome was also a sin. While having such thoughts, something appeared in the air with a “poof.” It looked like a device resembling black headphones and well-fitted clothes.

“Ugh.”

People here seemed to have no idea how to move things with their hands or feet. Anything could just appear out of thin air, and my heart couldn’t handle it. While I was gripping my fluttering chest, watching the objects floating in the air, Cain casually picked up the clothes and threw them towards me.

“Put that on.”

After that, he held headphones and a small, thin box-like device, adjusting something. While he was adjusting the device, I changed into the clothes. The clothes were a long black dress-like garment with a soft and warm fabric, and it was loose and comfortable to move in. As I thought about it, Heron also seemed to be wearing something similar, a robe on top of a clothes like this. Cain’s clothes, which he was wearing, were different in detail but had a similar silhouette. Like a designed shirt worn in the engineering departments.

“Come here.”

Cain gestured, and I approached. He put the headphones on my head. Then, he placed a black box inside his chest pocket.

“Can you hear me?”

“Uh!”

Cain’s voice flowed from the headphones. Though not as clear as spoken words, he could hear the sound of buzzing along with Cain’s voice.

“Is this what you were thinking about right now?”

Cain’s lips were tightly closed, but his voice was heard through the headphones.

‘Yeah. Impressive, huh?’

“It’s really amazing!”

‘Well, I’m a genius, so it’s natural.’

“Try thinking about something else.”

‘What are you thinking? Now take it off.’

Cain tried to remove the headphones from my head, and I quickly retreated to the corner.

“Is that crazy?”

Cain said, making a sound outside his mouth.

‘Are you a rabbit? Acting cute.’

Then, a completely different sound came from the headphones. When I burst into laughter, Cain’s face quickly turned into a frown.

“Hey, I told you to take that off.”

‘Why is his smile so pretty? Oh my. Don’t think such thoughts. I’m sure he heard that too. Holy shit.’

It was so funny to read the flow of thoughts as they were. As I burst into laughter louder than before, Cain took the transmitter from his chest pocket and threw it to the ground. No more sound came from the headphones.

Cain rushed towards me with determination and removed the headphones. Now his face was as red as a tomato, almost matching the color of his hair.

“Ahaha, am I that pretty?”

“Well… can you still hear anything?”

He yelled, making a frustrated sound. While examining the headphones, he seemed desperate. “It shouldn’t be broken…” he mumbled. Seeing him like this, I felt torn between teasing him like a mischievous kid and comforting him.

I couldn’t resist and started gently patting his head, which was about a palm larger than mine.

“What!”

Cain glared at me fiercely. However, with his blushing face, the expression was not threatening at all. The favorability was probably still around 5. Maybe this much was acceptable. With that thought, I opened my mouth.

“Cain is pretty too.”

He closed his mouth tightly like a clamshell. However, it was short-lived, and soon he shook his body, his face turning red with anger and a blood clot appeared in his neck.

“Hey! Are you making fun of me right now? You, you cheeky test subject… just go to sleep!”

However, contrary to his words, his favorability was honest.

[Cain’s favorability has increased by +10!]

I couldn’t believe my eyes. The favorability increased by 10 all at once. This was the first time such a thing had happened. Usually, people’s affinities are increased little by little, like ants crawling. I wondered if that’s how human’s favor are usually built that way. But to increase by 10 at once, Isn’t that giving me too much affection for just a sweet word.

As I gazed at Cain’s head with my surprised face, he turned his face away, still muttering something to himself. The shivers from his earlier frustration were still running through him.

Suddenly, his character’s background story came to mind. An arrogant genius, a researcher who doesn’t waste time eating, someone obsessed with magic. Born among the magic users of the Magic Tower, who earned magic at an early age. He was an outsider who raced towards magic like a racehorse, leaving others behind.
