Listening to the mournful sound outside, the chill in Gu Xun'er's eyes gradually dissipated.

If this were in the Gu Clan, anyone daring to do such a thing to her would undoubtedly face a fatal consequence. But this was the Xiao Family; for the sake of the mission, she had to let it slide for now, considering it a small favor to him.

Gu Xun'er shook her head, retrieving a black fish-shaped jade pendant from her bosom. Bathed in the faint moonlight, she gazed at the jade in her hand, her fingers couldn't help but caress it gently.

"Big Brother Gu Xiao, Xun'er has been listening to your words to take care of herself. But where are you right now? Xun'er misses you so much."

Gu Xun'er murmured softly, the longing in her heart surged like an unending tide...

----

At the edge of an endless desert, a massive city stood silently, known as Rock Desert City.

Desert City was the first stop in the Tager Desert, a crucial stop for numerous travelers seeking resources in the desert.

Due to its proximity to the desert, the weather in Rock Desert City was scorching, filled with dense fire elemental energy. It was a paradise for fire and earth elemental practitioners.

At the edge of the desert, a figure was slowly walking out from the sands.

Standing roughly around six feet tall, with long, flowing black hair cascading over the shoulders, a straight nose, well-defined eyebrows, and a handsome face. His eyes shone like stars, sparkling and dazzling. Despite wearing a simple white robe, he exuded an extraordinary and ethereal aura.

He was a young man, a very handsome one at that.

In his left hand, he held a refined steel longsword, while his right hand carried a small cloth bag that seemed full.

The young man scanned around and headed straight in one direction.

The Treasure Pavilion was a well-known shop in Rock Desert City, specializing in various spirit medicines, magic cores, and purchasing materials from other individuals or mercenary groups.

"Boss, check these out!" The young man confidently entered the Treasure Pavilion, tossing the cloth bag onto the counter.

"Oh, Master Lu is here! Welcome, welcome."

A flamboyantly dressed middle-aged woman turned at the sound and, upon seeing the young man at the counter, her eyes lit up, greeting him with a smile.

The young man smiled, shaking the cloth bag gently. Dozens of brightly colored magic cores spilled out onto the counter, creating a clattering sound.

Though these magic cores were not of high grade, merely first-tier cores, the quantity of dozens was still quite impressive.

"Wow, Master Lu is indeed amazing! To gather so many first-tier magic cores in these years... I've only seen you, Master Lu, achieving this at the ninth stage of Dou Zhi Qi," the middle-aged woman murmured with admiration, barely concealing her astonishment.

Typically, magical beasts had a slight advantage over humans of the same level. However, this young man, at the ninth stage of Dou Zhi Qi, had consecutively slain so many first-tier magical beasts, truly a genuine genius.

Despite the woman's praise, the young man remained composed, wearing a gentle smile. He said, "Boss, why don't you calculate the worth of these items first? It's almost time, my old man at home is waiting for me to make lunch."

"Alright, alright, Master Lu, you're always in a hurry. Oh, how envious I am of Mr. Hai for having such a sensible and capable son like you," the middle-aged woman said, sounding a bit envious. However, she swiftly counted the first-tier magic cores brought in by the young man.

"In total, they're worth sixty-four thousand, nine hundred and thirty-nine gold coins. Let's make it an even sixty-five thousand for you, considering our long-standing relationship," the middle-aged woman quickly calculated the total value of the magic cores.

"Okay, do you have any 'Storage Rings' for sale? Give me one, and deduct the payment directly from here," the young man shrugged.

"Sure, a Storage Ring costs forty-five thousand gold coins. After deducting, you'll get twenty thousand gold coins back," the middle-aged woman said, busy retrieving a Storage Ring and a golden card, handing them over to the young man.

"This is the Storage Ring, and this card has twenty thousand gold coins. Please keep them safe," the middle-aged woman said softly.

"Thanks, then I'll take my leave." The young man put on the Storage Ring, then neatly stowed the card and the steel longsword into the ring.

"Master Lu, take care!" the middle-aged woman called out.

The young man waved his hand before stepping lightly and exiting the Treasure Pavilion.

This young man was none other than the original Gu Xiao. However, since leaving the Gu Realm to avoid both the Gu Clan and the Hun Clan, he couldn't use the name Gu Xiao anymore. Now, he went by Lu Yunxiao.

Lu Yunxiao was his original name.

"I'll buy some meat to make lunch for the old man at home. In the afternoon, I can prepare for the breakthrough to become a Dou Zhe. After holding back for so many years, the day has finally arrived."

Lu Yunxiao muttered to himself. It had been eight years since he left the Gu Realm; he was now fourteen years old.

He had reached the ninth stage of Dou Zhi Qi at the age of nine, the time when he could have broken through to become a Dou Zhe. However, to establish an unparalleled foundation and to stride further into the future, he forcefully stayed at the ninth stage of Dou Zhi Qi for five more years.

During these five years, he tirelessly honed his Qi, tempered his muscles and bones, nurtured his meridians, and, aided by the system's teachings, refined his Qi to an extraordinary purity, condensed like fine iron.

His bones were exceptionally robust, capable of unleashing immense strength with a mere punch. Even a Dou Shi might not possess such robust bones.

However, the greatest gain was his meridians. They were not only incredibly tough but also, after five years of nurturing, had broken through all obstacles. His meridians were now completely clear, achieving the state of a hundred interconnected meridians. If he were to cultivate now, his speed would surpass that of others by far.

Sharpening the axe won't delay the cutting of wood. Though it seemed he had wasted five years, for his future, these years would pave the way for a smoother and more successful journey. It was definitely a profitable investment.

Moreover, the most crucial aspect was that the day he broke through to become a Dou Zhe would mark the initial unsealing of his physique. The sudden surge of immense energy would be difficult to withstand without a sturdy physique and resilient meridians. So, from any perspective, these five years were indispensable for him.

Fortunately, after five long years, he was now perfectly equipped. He could confidently advance to become a Dou Zhe.
