"Come on!" Jack groaned. He was unable to accept the fact that his almighty father was acting like a lovestruck idiot.
Dragging his father along, he snapped, "You are hanging out with us today! I don't care!"
Lyle and Quinn followed closely behind those two.
DX glanced helplessly at Kai Xin who merely smiled and waved at him. With a sigh, he shouted, "I'll be back soon!"
As he was dragged all over the place by the three children, Kai Xin and Callum waited inside a cafe.
"Hey..." said Callum out of nowhere. When Kai Xin looked at him, he continued with a sheepish tone, "About last time... I really didn't mean to see you....you know..."
"It's fine. Besides, I punished you enough for that."
Callum took out the old jade pendant that he wore around his neck. As he rubbed it, he said, "I still feel bad about it."
"You don't have to."
He shook his head as he took her right hand, "People from the Shenlong Family would never do inappropriate things to a woman without her permission. If you were not taken, I'd take responsible for you..."
Kai Xin was speechless by the turn of events.
"Errr..."
Placing the pendant on her hand, he sighed, "Anyway, take this. Take it as my apology."
She looked at the pendant and noticed that parts of it were rubbed smooth. It must have been a beloved heirloom.
Passing it back, she said clearly, "I'd not take it."
Callum nodded. He stood up and to her horror, he kneel in front of her.
"If you refused to take it, then I'd have no choice but to take responsibility for you at the risk of death!"
Kai Xin gaped at him. She tried to make him stand but he would not budge.
The passersby were whispering among themselves as they watched the two.
Embarrassed, she hissed, "Callum! Get up!"
He lifted the pendant, "Not until you accept it."
Left with no choice, she grabbed the thing and put it around her necklace.
"Happy now? Get up!!!"
Callum nodded. As if nothing ever happened, he sat down and drank his coffee quietly.
Kai Xin suddenly felt tired as she slumped back down on the chair. Lately, she had been feeling a little more tiring than before.
Dealing with Callum's weird behavior made her wanted to climb back to bed and sleep.
When DX came back, she was fast asleep. He told Callum to bring the children back first as he carried her up princess style.
"Where are you going?" asked Jack with a pout.
"To continue our date. Go home now. I'd be back shortly."
"But-"
Quinn sighed dramatically and dragged him away with Lyle following closely behind them. Before he left, Callum winked at DX, "Enjoy!"
For some reason, DX felt like punching the guy.
He carried Kai Xin over to the Ferris Wheel.
"You know, I'm not an invalid."
Without breaking his stride, he glanced down briefly and nodded.
"Em."
"But you are not going to put me down right?"
"Smart."
She yawned, "Have it your way then."
He only placed her down when they were inside the gondola. Inside, a feast was prepared for them.
"What's this?" asked Kai Xin as she looked at the dishes. They were all her favorites!
"I wanted to have a proper dinner date with you."
She was so touched that she could just eat him up right there.
The two ate quietly as they enjoyed the views. Words were unnecessary. All they wanted was each other's presence.
Once they were done eating, their gondola stopped at the top of the Ferris Wheel. The sun was down and they could see the stars decorating the black sky.
"Kara..."
She tore her eyes away from the sky and looked at him.
When he saw the shape of the jade pendant underneath her shirt, he asked, "Did Callum gave you that?"
She nodded and took out the pendant before telling him the whole story.
He chuckled when he saw her annoyed expression. Clearly, she was unhappy with how Callum forced it on her.
However, he gently placed the pendant back inside her shirt and said,
"Keep that with you at all times."
"Why? It's cool but it doesn't really fit my style."
"That is a powerful heirloom. It might be able to save you if you are ever in danger."
Even though she did not understand the meaning behind his words, Kai Xin did not argue anymore about it.
Since it was small enough to be kept hidden underneath her shirt, there was no harm to continue wearing it on a daily basis.
He walked over to her side and sat down next to her as they conversed.
"Lyle got suspicious earlier."
"Huh?"
"He said that your back looks familiar and that your scent is familiar as well. I think, deep down in his subconscious, he had recognized you."
Kai Xin leaned against him. She did not say anything. She looked up at the sky as she promised to herself, "One more week, Lyle. I'd return to you."
Shortly after, a consecutive loud booming sound can be heard.
'BOOOOM!'

They saw fireworks shooting up into the sky and exploded into a million colorful fiery lights.
She tugged his sleeve and pointed excitedly, "DX! Look! Look!"
"Haven't you seen fireworks show before?"
"No, only those from videos."
Jane used to invite her to go watch fireworks together. However, back then, she was terrified of going to crowded areas and preferred the tranquility of her bedroom.

She was so excited that she pressed against the wall of the gondola. Everytime a firework was released, her eyes would lit up as well.
When he saw her smiling so brightly like an innocent child, he smiled to himself as he thought, "Glad that you like it..."
He had arranged it as an accompaniment to end the dinner. If he knew that she would love it so much, he would have told Old Mo to make it grander.
