Unfortunately for Aira, it's her job today to collect everyone's exercise books before going home.
The boys from the soccer club went to do their club activities without handing in their exercise books first, so Aira had to wait for them to finish and couldn't go home until after 6:00 p.m.
There are fewer people on her way home compared to usual and it has already gotten dark.
As she walks along while sighing, she hears footsteps behind her and shudders.
"...This is the worst."
She knew it wasn't just her imagination.
Looking around, she doesn't find anyone.
What will she do if someone tries to take her away in a car like before? The ominous thought crosses her mind.
This gaze always follows her after school.
She had hoped it was just her imagination, but now that she feels it even when she's going home at a different time, there's no longer any doubt.
This is a stalker.
Now that she's convinced, she can't stop the cold sweat from pouring out.
She increases her pace while being on the verge of panic inside.

She feels an innate sense of dread.
What will happen to her if she gets caught?
Are they aiming to abduct her or did they want to assault her?
She takes out her smartphone and considers calling the police while she struggles to hold back tears.
Suddenly, someone grabs her arm and Aira lets out a pitiful shriek.
"Eeeek...!"
"Ah, Aira-chan...?"
The person who grabbed her arm let out a startled voice after hearing her inarticulate shriek.
When Aira fearfully looks at that person, she identifies them as Ema's friend, Komari.
Still trying to catch her breath, Aira turns around and confirms there's no one else other than Komari.
"What's wrong?"
"...No, stop!"
"Calm down."
With Komari gently rubbing Aira's back, she slowly calms back down.
Perhaps trying to soothe Aira, Komari's voice sounds higher than during their previous meeting.
"I just happened to see you. What's wrong?"
"When did you notice me?"
"Eh? Just now..."
Then the presence Aira felt following her since earlier wasn't Komari, but someone else.
Who could the culprit be?
The fact that she has no clue makes it all the more eerie.
"...It's nothing. I'm fine."
"How can you say that when you look so pale? Should I call Ema?"
"I'm already a freeloader... so I don't want to be even more of a nuisance than I already am."
Aira hates how she can't even be honest in a situation like this.
Even though Aira isn't that strong, she continues to pretend she is.

Less than ten minutes later, a taxi stops in front of them and a very distraught Ema gets out.
"Aira!"
Ema puts her trenchcoat over Aira and worriedly looks into Aira's eyes.
However, Ema's eyes seem much more flustered than Aira's.
"Are you okay? You must have been scared."
"Ema..."
"I know things might be scary right now, but... let's go to the hospital. Then we'll go to the police..."
"...I wasn't attacked."
After clearing up the misunderstanding, Ema sinks down in relief.
Aira crouches down in front of her and squeezes her hand.
"I thought my heart was going to stop..."
Aira glances at Komari, who has an expression saying, "I told you so."
"Well, I better get going."
As she leaves, Komari whispers to Aira, "You should trust Ema more."
Seeing how worried Ema was that she rushed over even in the middle of dinner time, Aira realizes her own foolishness.
Even though Ema tries so hard to protect her, Aira doubted her many times.

"Why didn't you say something sooner? If something happened..."
Aira gently hugs Ema to calm her down.
This is the opposite of their usual positions.

After she ended the call, a well-built man wearing a black suit appears not much later.
Was he hiding somewhere the whole time? Aira didn't notice him at all.
"Your stalker is probably this person."
"What do you mean...?"
"Since you're so cute... I thought it would be best if someone watches over you on your way home from school at least... so I hired a bodyguard..."
"This is all your doing!?"
In other words, Aira had been terrified of the person meant to look out for her.
Relieved, the tension leaves her shoulders all at once.
"I'm sorry for scaring you..."
"Seriously... you could have at least said something."
"I thought you'd find it creepy I'd go that far for a cousin."
For some reason, seeing Ema so apologetic summons an indescribable feeling in Aira.
"...I'm happy you feel that way, but it's okay."
After all, Ema is kind.
She worries about Aira and tries to protect her.
