Episode 55

The Moussa set up a new table.

Eutostea was worried that she’d become drunk in a matter of moment, but she took care of the amount she drank. Ironically, the man who persistently suggested she drink more disappeared and she found herself somewhat lonely of his careless presence.

She took a small bite of the bread, ate a salad mixed with yogurt, and filled the rest of her belly eating a basket-full of grapes.

It was a sunny day, but because the altar was located in an exquisite place, the shade of the tree forest blocked the sunlight like a shade.

Eutostea laid down her face with arms folded up so that her shoulders wouldn’t be burdened. Warmth overtook her as fatigue melted away from the wine. Her eyes closed slowly as she yawned.

Moussa silently cleared away the empty vessels and cleared the surrounding area. Moussa looked at Eutostea with breathless eyes, amazed by the woman who fell asleep without knowing anything.

The two leopards crouched under the altar and yawned. It was soon time for them to take a nap after the eventful moment earlier on. Eonia, who was wandering around Eutostea, ran in circles chasing her tail when suddenly she caught a suspicious smell and pricked up her ears.

It was dull footsteps.

Moussa, who was fanning Eutostea’s sleeping face to avoid overheating, stopped. Moussa felt someone else’s presence. Dionysus was gone and a suspicious figure was approaching. Moreover, this temple wasn’t known to anyone.

The sound of the stranger’s footsteps came unhesitatingly towards the altar as if already knowing Eutostea was there. Moussa hid behind the tree with a wary eye and stole a glimpse of the intruder’s face. Then, Moussa fled deep into the forest with terrified eyes. The same was true for the other Moussa.

Mariad raised himself with a stiff neck. His mouth opened and sharp baring fangs revealed itself.

Apollo looked down at the screeching of an unseemly beast.

“How did your master ever train a kitten so that he could stare and threaten anyone?”

The Moussa disappeared into the forest, silent soothing the angry beast for fear that Apollo would take out the bow on his back.

Eonia was glued to Eutostea’s side. She looked at Apollo carefully with slender eyes.

Apollo sighed. He didn’t come here to fight with a leopard. He took in Eutostea’s figure lying down on the altar.

How much did she have to drink? The smell of Dionysus’ wine exuding from her body wasn’t very pleasant. He made her a priest it looks like and she dressed from the top down as if marking her as his possession. But the thing that bothered him the most was the golden crown covering her forehead. It was a crown made by Hephaestus collected from the island of Naxos.

Dionysus was dressing her up like a doll and doing house play, Apollo thought. But somehow, his emotions got the best of him.

“Eutostea.”

It was a name that tickled his heart.

Apollo leaned on the latar with both hands. Eutostea’s expression, as she fell asleep quietly, seemed calm. The last thing he saw was her white face stained with blood and twisting agonizingly in pain. It was the right choice to send her to Dionysus for care.

“Eutostea.”

Slowly, her eyes opened.

Apollo wanted to capture all of her essence with more detail.

Eutostea frowned. Her sleepiness was fading away. Long eyelashes like dandelion flower seeds trembled and she lifted her eyelids. Unfocused brown eyes shone on Apollo’s face.

Embarrassed by those clear eyes full of innocence, Apollo stretched out his arm.

Eutostea slowly raised her upper body by supporting her weight with her arms.

“…..”

She looked at Apollo without saying anything and without expression, wondering whether he was real or an illusion in front of him. She guessed why he appeared here in the temple of Dionysus.

But Apollo, who believed she’d been cursed from Artemis’ curse of oblivion, thought she was looking at him because she didn’t know who he was.

“I came to see you because I was worried about your health.”

Apollo announced the purpose of his visit.
