Episode 57

Apollo bowed his head at Eutostea’s behest. Her hand approached him, looking as if she was breaking a branch, passing Apollo’s lips and chin carelessly and slightly grasping the end of the hair that flowed down his ear.

Apollo belatedly realized that his prior thoughts were wrong. She didn’t want to touch him. Still, he stood in that position hardened like stone.

“This is…”

Eutostea felt the coarse hair that was woven like his own.

“Hestia made it,” Apollo answered her question. “I’m not sure if it looks good on me. What do you think?”

A voice sneakily snuck in a question asking her opinion carefully.

Eutostea felt strange when she saw the ornaments woven with her hair which had now replaced his signature laurel wreath.

“It looks good on you.”

She thought it was better to give him the answer he wanted. So she did.

Apollo clenched his fist as he watched her hand drop. She lost her memory. In her mind, her first encounter with him was this moment. Each time he remembered that fact, it was as if a million knives stabbed him.

“…..”

There was a long , drawn out silence.

Eutostea turned her head back slightly, feeling burdened by Apollo’s persistent gaze.

“I’ll be back tomorrow… may I come again…?”

“…..”

“I want to check how effective the medicine is, and if it’s not enough, I’ll bring you a better one?” Apollo said there father.

Eutostea thought that Dionysus would be back to the temple tomorrow. Besides there was no stopping a god.

“Can I come back at this hour…?” asked Apollo again.

“Do as you please,” Eutostea said,

No matter how hard she thought of it, even though she was Dionysus’ priest, she didn’t have the authority to control who was going in and out.

Apollo’s eyes were filled with joy.

“Apollo. Call me by name whenever you talk to me.”

There was excitement in his voice.

“What?” she asked.

Apollo thought she misheard it, turning around to hide his regretful eyes.

“It’s my own wish if you could call me by name tomorrow.”

Leaving those words behind, Apollo disappeared as Dionysus did.

Eutostea took the medicine bag he left behind in her hand. A pentagonal ring rolled out. Was it a sign that he had other thoughts in mind after giving her medicine?

No, can’t be.

She was injured. Apollo was giving her medicine to heal.

Besides, she had no way of knowing what went through his mind. However, his last words begged her to call him by his name.

His figure remained in her mind for a while.

《Act 5: Many Seasons Together》

The entrance to Olympus at the top of Mount Parnassus was filled with silence. At a far higher place beyond the reach of the clouds were gods freely entering and leaving the place. However, the gods limited to Olympus were those wearing golden sandals made by Hephaestus.

It had been a long time since Zeus gathered everyone.

Late, Apollo moved leisurely as if he had arrived first. He wasn’t sure why he seemed so relaxed. Maybe it was because his prior meeting with Eutostea that the cloud of uneasiness boring his back seemed to disappear if only for a slight moment.

And it looked like he wasn’t the only god late.

From the distance, Apollo could hear the wheels of the chariot rolling. It fell to the ground, spinning fast and kicking the clouds with heavy weight.

Apollo turned his eyes to the one who appeared at the ear-splitting noise.

On the huge bass tram led by four horses wearing a set of armor, a red-bloodied man stood straight and proud, holding the reins as if he had been bathed in blood.

The beasts stopped at his signal, panting out of breath from the constant galloping.

It was the god he didn’t want to see most.

“Ares.”
