Chapter 84: Two Humans

Her day repeated again and again. Apollo stamped his face every day. He didn’t come empty-handed. The animal carcasses, high-quality fabrics, instruments, and gold objects he brought went straight up to the altar of Dionysus. Apollo, who knew that Eutostea would use the items on her own discretion after the offering ended, gradually put the gifts he wanted to give her on the altar. The clothes that would suit her, the laurel wreath she would wear, the reed flute he wanted to play for her, the sandals that he wanted Eutostea to wear…

Dionysus laid on the altar and dumped the gifts into the pond, and Moussa squeezed a sieve from the leaves to get the goods he had dropped out. There was no comedy better than this. Eutostea deliberately hit the healthy calves of Dionysus as she wiped the altar. He didn’t show any signs of illness, and rather smiled slyly and looked at her and dawdled diligently.

Eutostea took the medicine that Apollo gave her regularly and completely healed her injured foot.

“I was told that you were the one who gave the medicine to the Moussa.” Eutostea thanked Apollo. ‘Thank you, Lord Apollo.”

The words brightened Apollo’s face. After that, he began to put medicinal herbs on the altar. It was out of the hope that the weak-looking Eutostea would be healthier.

“This is a good drink. It’s medicinal, very much so. It’ll make you immortal. Because of someone’s utmost sincerity.”

It’s liquor that he couldn’t drink anyway. Dionysus dropped a bunch of purple herbs into the pond that his druid had cultivated. The pond remained clear all the time no matter how many things he had thrown into it. It would be a proper expression to say that Eutostea’s alcohol cleans impurities on its own.

Dionysus wanted to analyze the components of the alcohol produced by his priest, but he was only speculating. His word on it was as good as his guess…

It was the same day as usual. The Moussa, who had disappeared into the forest with a basket to pick wild raspberries, ran out of it empty-handed.

“Miss Eutostea!” She rushed toward the priest. Eutostea, who was guarding the altar, raised her head and followed the sound of her name.

“What’s going on?”

When she asked, the Moussa, who was gasping and gasping, answered, “It… it… it’s a human. Two of them…”

“Humans? Here?”

“I guess they came across the stone bridge built by the river god!” In an instant the Moussa gathered and whispered in a fearful tone, “They’re our first guest.”

Eutostea clapped her hands and drew their attention to her. If they were wanderers they would go back thinking that they took the wrong direction, and if they had another purpose, they would reach the temple.

‘I never thought it was possible to get lost in the coniferous forest.’

A few days ago, Eutostea, with Dionysus, made a way from the stepping-stones to the temple. Dionysus dug the ground with vines at her beckoning. Two leopards stepped excitedly as mud rose from beneath the shabby surface. There was a dirt road that seemed to not have been visited by humans for a long time. All was done in a flash.

Eutostea taught the Moussa how to pick wild berries, raspberries and blackberries in the forest and cleared up weeds from the land the leopards had stepped on. Then she took the most humble wooden cane that Dionysus had and put it at the entrance of the forest. When Dionysus slammed the top with his fist, the cane sank very deep. He said most of the bindings would not be easy to pull out. She didn’t know if this was the right way, but she couldn’t find anything more suitable to be used as a sign indicating to the temple.

Anyway, Eutostea gave up her thoughts and began preparing to greet the guests. Soon it was sunset, so she added charcoal to the bowl and lighted the candles to illuminate the temple. Dionysus and Apollo went to Mount Olympus. Recently, meetings have been called up frequently. It was better not to have the two gods in the temple. After checking the condition of the altar one more time, Eutostea went into the woods with Moussa and hid herself in the dark shade of a tree. When she was young, she enjoyed playing hide-and-seek with her sisters in the palace.

She rode a leopard and got as close as she could without being noticed by the humans. She could easily find them because they were holding a lantern. There were two people, just as Moussa said. A skinny old woman and a middle-aged man with her on his back.
