34. If I can’t keep you locked up (2)

Sohee rubbed her eyes and got up from the bed.

The maid must have entered the room early in the morning to push the thick curtains aside so that sunlight could shine on the marble floor.

Since she just woke up from her sleep,  she sat there in a daze and glanced at the space next to her when she couldn’t feel any warmth.

Last night, Joshua left the bedroom quietly as he once did but So-hee didn’t visit him just like before.

It was best to wait for the crown prince’s anger to gradually subside.

“Lady Ariad. I was ordered to tell you to come to His Highness’ office as soon as you wake up.”

So-hee blinked in surprise.

Her expression became even more puzzled when she continued, “The lock on your bedroom was also removed. But, if you want to go somewhere, please tell me first.”

“The locks aren’t there anymore?”

“His Highness ordered me to do it.”

The plot development is strange.

She expected him to be angry and lock her up due to his uncontrollable obsession.

This was completely off the mark.

Since she finally found freedom at a time when her legs were almost better, it was a good time to think about creating the story herself.

However, she felt a little frustrated because she couldn’t grasp Joshua’s intentions.

With the help of her maids, she washed, dressed, and came to Joshua’s office.

He would always enter and leave her room whenever he wanted but visiting him herself felt brand new.

“Lady Ariad is here, Your Highness.”

The door opened.

A beautiful man, whom she couldn’t get enough of every day, was seated a little far away from her.

A moment of silence ensued in the space where only both of them were present.

Then, he pushed his chair backwards as he rose, stretching his arms forward.

Sohee didn’t know what he was planning to do so she stood still.

“Come and hug me.” He said in a rush.

So-hee, who stood there with a puzzled expression, understood the man’s intentions immediately and approached him.

As she limped while walking, Joshua’s fingernails tapped the desk repeatedly.

Impatient, he didn’t wait for her to come towards him and met her halfway, instead.

Sohee’s arms circled around his thick waist as one of her ears rested on Joshua’s chest.

His heartbeats sounded unusually erratic.

“Do you like it that much?”

When she raised her head to examine his handsome face, a small smile had spread across his lips despite trying his best to appear emotionless.

“It’s not good enough for me.” He whined while embracing her.

“Then, what do you want me to do now?”

“Come and hug me every day from now on. We have 365 days a year.”

“You know my legs aren’t fine yet, right?”

“The doctor said it’s better to use your legs to some extent.”

Joshua picked her up and matched her eye level.

“You should come to my office every day and use those muscles. And….”

He faltered, drawing his face close enough for their lips to touch.

He gave her a peck so quick that she didn’t have time to react.

“You fill my empty heart.”

Sohee blushed even if it was just a kiss.

This should be nothing compared to the sex they had done before.

As warmth flushed her cheeks, she tried to bury her face on his pale neck but a long scar came into her view.

“Did you get hurt, Joshua?”

“It’s not big deal.” He casually replied, moving to the front of the desk and sat down.

As always, Joshua didn’t care much about his body.

So-hee fixed her gaze toward the wound.

She tried to touch the wound without realizing it but when she found something unexpected, So-hee’s nostrils frowned.

Blood soaked the sleeves of the beige jacket he wore.

As she lowered her head further, she could already tell where it was coming from.

Joshua’s white inner shirt was also stained red.

“Did you get hurt here, too?”

The scar that Deon left on Joshua yesterday was obvious.

Why didn’t he notice yesterday?

Was she too busy looking at his face instead of his well-being?

“It’s not a big deal.” He repeated.

So-hee laughed at the absurdity.

This was a big deal!

“If it’s not a big deal, why are you bleeding?”

“I have treated it already but it must have exploded again. It doesn’t hurt that much.”

Immediately, So-hee unbuttoned the dress shirt in front of her.

Joshua’s eyes widened when his chest was revealed without warning.

“What do you mean it doesn’t hurt when you clearly are?”  She demanded.

Gauze, red with blood, was next to the scar he had stabbed himself before.

His stomach was a mess.

When So-hee started checking his wound,  he closed his mouth for a while.

Two fingers holding a macaron prepared from the table approached So-hee’s mouth.

Was he going to shut her up with food?

When So-hee sighed and accepted it, Joshua said only then.

“This wound doesn’t hurt at all.”

Sohee bit the macaroon while grumbling.  “Then do you have any other wounds that hurt?””

As the sweet macaroon neutralize her heightened emotions, more questions arose as to why she felt irritated.

Well, what’s wrong with this?

She just didn’t want to see anyone get hurt like this.

So-hee glanced up Joshua with a questioning look.

“There’s something else that hurts.” He answered. “It hurt because you hugged another man yesterday. Here.”

Joshua pointed at his heart in nonchalance.

So-hee, whose gaze followed his long finger pointing at his bare chest, raised one eyebrow. “Are you kidding me?”

“Do I look like I am?”

Judging from his serious expression, it didn’t seem like it.

His blood-red eyes darkened as he stared at her.

“I also don’t like it when you get sick or hurt.” He said grimly.

“What would you do if I die later on?” So-hee mumbled playfully.

“Then, there’s nothing I can’t do.”
