After having fun at the ship’s crow’s nest, the two of them got back to the deck. If it was not for Nami’s legs that had gone numb from the intense poundings from Usopp then the rare experience might have lasted longer but still, the two of them were very satisfied with their adventurous act and couldn’t help but giggle at each other while they were currently sipping on the lemonade that had been prepared for them by Sanji earlier.
While the two of them were engrossed in exchanging love-filled words with each other suddenly they felt the ship shaking. Upon closer inspection, they soon realised that it was not just the ship but the whole ground was shaking. Thinking that it was an earthquake Nami grabbed hold of Usopp in worry.
Nami’s hug was met with soft pats from Usopp on her back as he saw the approaching figure of Brogy the giant from not far away. “Don’t need to get too scared alright, a giant is coming,” Usopp said.
Initially, Nami found it difficult to make sense of Usopp’s words but suddenly she felt that Usopp’s shadow which was visible to her quickly got overshadowed by something pretty huge. She could feel the beating of her heart grow as she slowly turned her head back as a huge face that was looking right towards them welcomed her sight.
“KYAAAAAHHH!” Nami screamed as her grip over Usopp subconsciously tightened.
“Don’t get scared little one I just wanted to ask whether you have some rum or not?” Brogy said.
The vibrations from Brogy’s vocal cords made even their innards vibrate which was enough to induce more fear and Nami finally was not able to take it anymore and collapsed from her fright. Seeing this Usopp could only shake her head a bit and placed her on one of the reclining chars which they were using earlier.
“Well,we indeed have rum would you like to have it?” Usopp said knowing that Brogy was not an evil giant and was quite friendly in fact.
“Gababababababa how lucky! I would be more than thankful but I can’t take advantage of you like this. How about I invite you guys to my place for a meal where we can share these drinks along with some freshly roasted meat!” Brogy.
“Sure, we would love to, let me grab some rum barrels first,” Usopp said as he went inside to grab a few barrels.
After making five trips back and forth ten barrels of rum were finally arranged on the deck. Usopp had made sure when they were in Whiskey Peak that Mr 9 was in no condition to move much less sail from there to here so there were no bombs that had been planted in this rum. As for Miss Valentine, he never saw her again after the last incident.
Seeing the barrels of rum slowly being accumulated on the deck as the whiff of rum slowly encompassed the surroundings Brogy couldn’t help but make a drooling expression filled with joy One should know that it had been ages since he last tasted even a drop of rum!
Moments later Brogy was carrying the barrels of rum on one hand and Usopp and Nami on the other hand, and made his way to his hideout. On the way due to the sudden increase in vibrations, Nami woke up for a while but seeing herself being carried several feet up the ground by the giant she once again screamed and lost her consciousness once again. Truly something to look down on.
Of course, Usopp didn’t look down on her for this. If he was not familiar with everything and also had some confidence in his powers then he would also be scared shitless and would be in a similar state as Nami or maybe worse.
On the way, Usopp continued to build rapport with Brogy after the two introduced themselves to each other. Brogy was naturally very happy to reciprocate as he didn’t have much of an opportunity to talk with others and know about what was going on in the outside world during all this time.
While they were on the way suddenly something strange caught Usopp’s eye as he told Brogy to stop.
“Stop! Brogy can you go back towards that tree” Usopp pointed towards a coconut tree that they had passed over a few seconds ago asking him to move towards it.
Confused but curious about what got Usopp interested about that tree Brogy did what he was asked and quickly went over towards it.
As they got closer and closer to the tree the thing that Usopp just had a glimpse of earlier quickly became very clear to him as his pupils dilated.
“It really is!” Usopp exclaimed as he moved his hands towards the coconuts that were sprouting from the tree. On a closer inspection though, one would realize that Usopp’s hands were targeting not those coconuts but a weird gray-coloured fruit that was sprouting along with these coconuts just beside them.
“Little guy, what is that thing?” Brogy asked confused after seeing a grey-coloured fruit on a coconut tree.
Usopp carefully plucked the fruit and observed it in his palms. The fruit was of a size similar to that of coconut but had a wavy-type texture all over it. The colour of the fruit as mentioned was a shade of grey which was just a bit darker than white.
“This here is a devil fruit…” Usopp said as he caressed the fruit with his other hand with his eyes still on the fruit.
“DEVIL FRUIT!” Brogy exclaimed before starting to laugh happily, “Gababababa, it’s truly a joyous occasion today then little brother, let’s celebrate you acquiring this fruit with a glass of rum and roasted meat!”
Seeing Brogy’s happy face Usopp laughed back and shouted “Of course, let’s drink till we’re satisfied!”
This was just the reply Brogy wanted as with another laugh he once again began moving towards his hideout while Usopp who was sitting on his giant palm sat their mum completely in contrast to his previous state.
A lot of thoughts were going around in his now flustered mind which he was seriously pondering upon till the time they reached the hideout.
