"I will need a furnace and some ingredients which I don't have on hand,” Ken said. He had the furnace, but he didn’t want to advertise the fact that he carried it around on his person.

"What kind of alchemist has no furnace or ingredients?" Bluewind asked, his lips a coy smile.

"The kind who merely dabbles in it, as I have said. Though, I am confident that I can create the item." Ken threw a casual look to the Town Lord.

"Bring a furnace which can withstand yellow fire." The Town Lord commanded, and a servant quickly left to bring the furnace, as well as the ingredients Ken noted.

"Yellow fire? The Town Lord praises me too much." Ken ignored the smirk from Bluewind.

The items were quickly retrieved. The furnace was large and heavy, and looked to be made out of clay, though it was no doubt far sturdier than it looked.

Ken placed the items in a particular way within the furnace and pulled back. "I merely have orange fire." He pointed his finger towards the furnace, taking a moment to concentrate, and the fire flowed out, circling around the furnace like the dragon the Town Lord had shown earlier.

"Orange fire!”

“Amazing!”

“This young man has great fortune!”

Ken started to burn the ingredients together, with the smell of it soon filling the air. The bystanders sniffed the air, pulling back slightly from the scene.

"Is he… burning the ingredients?"

“To think he'd burn the ingredients."

"We were too blinded by the orange fire.”

Ken leaned back as he continued to refine casually. "Sister Smith, your smithing is truly amazing. I hope that one day I can ask you to make me something."

"I can do that, but don't you think you should concentrate?" Mill asked, unsure of whether he should be chatting to her like this. Even she needed to concentrate on her work, and seeing Ken work casually like this, she could only be worried.

"Concentrate? Don't worry, I don't need to concentrate on this kind of matter. I've been taught by a great master of alchemy, so something like this isn't too difficult."

"Yet I can smell burning." The Town Lord frowned. "Is this all a jest?" He had been the one to give him the time and resources to create the item, so if Ken was just messing around, then he would be seen as a fool.

"Town Lord, I wonder why you’re so worried. The pill I gave you was refined today within a few hours. Do you think I'm jesting?"

"What?”

“That's impossible!”

“Only a Mountain Alchemist can do such a thing."

"I wouldn't claim such a thing, but I'm not that bad." Ken clapped his hands together. “I don’t have a container, but I’m sure you have something laying around.” Ken concentrated now, trying to refine the last part of the goo.

The Town Lord sent for some, wondering if he can really trust this cripple. A small vase was given and the Town Lord held it out to Ken. Some thick, sticky, awful smelling goo appeared, pouring into the vase.

"Gross!"

"Isn't that just waste?"

“This cripple is no good after all…”

"The Young Miss needs to apply it on her skin and then wipe it off after a incense stick of time. It will sting, but within the month, I can guarantee you’ll be satisfied by the result. If the Young Miss is unsatisfied, I’ll personally bring twenty middle grade earth pills for her needs.”

"I will believe in your words, young Ken." The Town Lord eyed him up. "Though, I ask that you remain within the town for the month."

"I have nowhere else to go. I'm making plenty of money here for now. I have been treated quite well by the Commerce Head and I can't complain."

"I don't think the paste is any good." It was Bluewind, of course. "He's a second rate Alchemist. We should ask for the first rate Alchemist to assist us."

"The first rate alchemist?" Ken asked, his ears twitching. The, not a. Meaning that Bluewind probably had someone in mind.

"You don't know? There is an Alchemist who has been visiting the Commerce Pavillion with a great number of pills." Bluewind smiled. "Such an Alchemist would be heaven compared to your earth."

"How amazing." Ken smiled. "If only you could find out who they were. What a shame you haven't found them. At least you know I'm here."

Rojja looked to the man who sold Emerald the herbs and shook his head.

"I too would love to know why this Alchemist does not sell their products at the auction." A beautiful woman appeared, and Ken had only just glanced at her previously. She was tall, with long black hair, black eyes, with a beauty mark above her lip. She puffed on a long, thin pipe. "I haven't seen you around my auction pavilion either." Her eyes had noticed something profitable, so she needed to step up to the challenge.

Roffa frowned slightly. "Second Floor Master." It was a dry greeting.

"My little Rojja, how have you been?" She smiled towards him, blowing out some smoke, which flowed out like a dragon and then dissipated.

"Well, thank you. I trust you have been well?"

"I'm a little disappointed.” Her eyes then fell to Ken. “Arrayist Ken, why don't you come and visit the auction pavilion?"

Ken’s brow pulsed, and Emerald took a step closer. "It just so happens that I wasn't treated very well in an auction pavilion in the past due to my appearance. However, the commerce pavilion has been more than accommodating."

"What? Who dared to treat you poorly. Why don't I sort this matter for you?" The woman hadn’t expected such an answer, and the fact he mentioned it in front of everyone caused her some alarm.

Ken smiled, though she couldn’t see it. "Unfortunately, what's done has been done. It was due to the auction pavilion's actions that day that..." He reached up to his forehead, feeling the rage enter him for a moment, the veins on his hand pulsing, and then he exhaled to calm himself. He glanced to Emerald for a moment and then relaxed back into his chair. "This is a party for the Town Lord and the Young Miss. Although my performance was not as good as Smith Mill’s I hope that it pleased some of you.”

"You made some worthless paste, so what?" Bluewind smiled. "You're second rate and that's that. If you were any good you'd actually make something useful. I don't think you even made the pill that you gifted to the Town Lord. A poisonous pill, a defective array, and an acidic paste. That’s what I think.”

"It’s a good thing I care very little for your thoughts.”

“It seems that the Bluewind family has an issue with the guest I brought." Rojja spoke up, drawing a line. By picking a fight with Ken, he was indirectly fighting with Rojja too.

"I heard he even consorts with beast people! He has a wolf girl guard! At least he had the decency to leave her in her pen tonight!” Bluewind snapped at him, his lips curling into a smug smile.

The others gasped and even the Town Lord could feel the way the wind was blowing. "Is that true?"

"It's true."

"Disgusting!"

"The pills are diseased!"

"No wonder there is such a foul stench."

Everyone seemed to have an issue with beast people, not that he cared.

"As a man who appears before you with such an appearance, you can guess as to why I don't judge people by their appearances. I have relations with many people regardless of their age, sex, race, or whatever other descriptors one could judge another."

"I can only commend you for such behaviour, though it is something which brings only sourness into our hearts.” The Town Lord narrowed his eyes. “We can only remember what the beastkin had done to our ancestors."

"And what your ancestors did to them,” Ken said. “The stories of such hatred goes back generations, but can I blame a child for the sins of men long dead? As long as you have done no harm to me, I will consider it so."

"Well said, youngster!" called a voice from afar. Ken turned to see who it was. A martial artists, one who had remained with the other martial artists. He was older, with black hair and a thick black beard. He had tan skin too, from the southern regions.

He had drawn the attention from others, and had stepped up to support Ken without prompt.
