Due to their deal with the commerce pavilion, they couldn’t start work for the Town Lord yet. Ken wasn’t stupid enough to break his deal, it would bring about the wrong rumours, and he didn’t want that attached to his reputation.

Which meant that Ken and Emerald continued to fuck like wild animals, though it was mostly Emerald who was the wild beast. Time passed, with the two remaining at the inn, all the while making it difficult for everyone else in the inn to live their lives.

Emerald’s pheromones continued to seep into every crevice, and everyone around had become eager to play. Some people had left the inn, though they were quickly replaced by couples who had heard rumours that the inn increased fertility.

The two of them had made so many pills that they didn't need to embrace one another any more to keep up the quota for the commerce pavilion, not that they stopped.

Ken was now swimming in gold. With how rich he was, he could head to the auction and buy a few high grade earth items, but he still disliked the auction pavilion greatly. He could have spent time at the monthly auction at the commerce pavilion, but he decided against it, in case he meant some unsavoury people. If he really wanted something, he would speak to Rojja about it.

"Arrayist Ken, there's a message for you," a worker said, holding out a small note.

“Thank you.” Ken took the note, wiping his mouth with a handkerchief. He had been eating breakfast with the others, feeling the various gazes of the people around them.

It was an invitation to an auction hosted by the auction pavilion, which made him smile. It had a list of items which they had used in order to attract him, but Ken didn’t forget why he lost the ability to walk. He scrunched up the paper.

[No.]

He was going to gain fame and infamy in this town, and he was going to use the auction house as a stepping stone.

Once he was alone in his room, he spoke to his goddess. "Goddess, will you teach me more about arrays and alchemy? I want to create a few items which I could sell through the pavilion.”

[[Are you finally willing to learn alchemy?]]

"Please, goddess."

[[Very well. Go to a store which seeks such supplies personally. This queen will teach you many things.]]

"As you wish."

He decided to take Yue and Chandi out this time, since Emerald might draw too much attention after how he had revealed her to be a great Alchemist in her own right.

The two had grown quite close to one another, having their own fun nightly. Chandi did her duty properly, though. She took her place to the side, and Yue focused on assisting Ken. Chandi wore her gauntlet, and Ken wore the other.

They followed the main road, choosing to stay away from the alleys and small roads, just due to the fact that Ken wanted to remain out in the open in case he was unlucky, again.

They came across the alchemy store first, where Ken saw the man from the party.

"If it isn't the Alchemist whose made such an uproar. I invite you to my humble store." He bowed his head a little sarcastically, but his smile was playful.

"I'll buy your sarcasm another day. I have a few items which I need urgently."

"Oh?" The man stared at Ken with a raised eyebrow. He took out a catalogue, which was in alphabetical order as well as ordered by type of ingredient. Ken wrote down each item he required.

"..." The alchemy merchant looked to Ken for a long moment. "This will cost fifty gold pieces."

Ken casually waved his hand, placing down five big gold coins. This much money would take a man a generation to earn, and he spent it in seconds.

Fifty gold coins on the ingredients? The alchemy merchant looked at the cripple, wondering what he had planned, but he didn’t dare to ask.

"Would you mind directing me to the array supply store?"

[He’s buying so many ingredients for alchemy and he wants items for arrays? Just what do you have planned, Arrayist Ken?]

"It's not far from here. I'll have one of my clerks escort you. Bili! Come here!"

A young man rushed up from behind at the call. "Yes!" He was young, in his early teens, with short red hair and freckles on his face.

"Take Arrayist Ken to the array store nearby." He gave the young man a look, who understood the look.

"Yes!" he replied eagerly, ready to assist the cripple.

The young man led the trio towards the nearby array store, moving quickly, but realising that it was awkward with the fact that he’s in a wheelchair, and then slowed down. It wasn't too far away, but it was good to see the intentions behind the alchemy store.

When they were at the store, which was quite small and made of wood, the boy bowed.

"Here." Ken handed over two big copper coins. "Take this."

"Oh, I can't do that." Bili began to sweat, unsure of what to do. He couldn’t just accept the money, could he?

"Give one to your boss if it feels awkward."

Bili accepted the coins happily, bowed, and then quickly rushed off to the store.

Ken almost wheeled into the array store, when the store owner cleared his throat. "No beast people allowed." The owner was a man who was quite lean and had a long beard, like a wise man.

"She's my guard."

"No exceptions. We run a fine establishment, and we can’t have a beast coming in to trek in dirt."

"It seems my gold is not welcome here." Ken grit his teeth.

"Your gold is welcome, but the wolf bitch is not."

"Let's get back to the inn.” He clutched at his armrests.

"Master, I can wait outside." Chandi understood that gaining such items would be useful to her master, and she could still come to his aid from nearby.

"I said we're returning to the inn." He did it for Chandi, yes, but Yue was here as well. He had already committed to treating them both well, so he was going to do so.

Yue pushed him back towards the inn. “A-are you sure?”

“I don’t want to spend my coin in such a place. You, of all people, should understand that.”

“Right…”

“I’m sorry, master.” Chandi frowned. Due to her race, he was unable to do something.

“Relax.” He waved his hand. “I’m a cripple, so I get some hate, but you…” He looked around. “At least no one will go out of their way to kill me.”
