Ken was glad that he was able to make such a relationship with the commerce pavilion, especially Rojja. He had been so kind to Ken, even though he was a cripple.

[Oh, right. I’m no longer a cripple…]

No. He needed to keep that a secret still, so he wouldn’t go around revealing that just yet.

He left the commerce pavilion and made his way to the escort pavilion, which was open at all times. It was already quite dark out, but there were many here drinking and relaxing.

As he approached the front desk, Yue stepped forward since she had been dealing with the escort pavilion for some time.

“No,” Ken said, stopping her. “I’ll deal with it this time.”

The old man at the front desk looked down to Ken, who bowed his head slightly. “I’m in a rush today, so I hope that we can deal with one another quickly.”

“What is it that the young man is looking for?”

“Four Martial Experts who are available immediately.” Ken wanted to make sure that he had some guards around him by the time he left the escort pavilion.

“Do you have the appropriate compensation?”

“I am sure you’ve done business with my servant previously,” Ken said, motioning a hand to Yue.

The man looked to Yue and then closed his eyes in thought. “I see. I apologise for my rudeness.” He had recalled how positive the experience had been with her.

“It’s a small matter. Do you have any Martial Experts on hand?”

“We have a few available. Do you wish to work with those you have hired previously.”

“It’s preferred, but not required.”

“Then I will send word immediately.”

Ken placed down a large gold coin as part of the down payment. “I will be offering each escort a gold coin for the month, and a low middle grade, or high grade earth pills once their employment ends depending on their rank. I may end the contract early, but the payment will still stand. If I need them for another month, I will offer them the same terms.”

“I believe that would be acceptable.” The old man then created a contract, one which would be empowered by their escort pavilion. If the contract was broken, then the employer and escorts would both have to answer for it. If Ken was stronger, then he wouldn’t need to, and if he was weaker, the escorts wouldn’t need to.

“I will have my servant sign the contract if it isn’t unpleasant.”

The worker thought for a moment. He hadn’t burnt them yet, and he had quite some fame within the town. “It is no matter.”

Ken smiled.

[Good choice.]

He would need to remain polite with the escort pavilion, especially considering some of his future plans.

Lan Fangbone appeared not long later. “If it isn’t the Alchemist,” he said. “No, Arrayist?”

“Expert Fangbone, it’s good to see you. I see you are doing well.” Ken looked at his body, which seemed a little different than previous. He looked more youthful than previous.

“Isn’t it because of the alchemy you offered me?” Fangbone grinned wide. “It’s lucky you came along. I was looking to be a Guest Elder, but it seems that no one wants someone like me.”

“A shame for them, but it’s good fortune for me. I would prefer those who I have met previously to work for me. We might need to deepen our relationship.” Ken’s eyes shone up at him.

“Ho?” Fangbone’s eyes shone as well. He couldn’t believe his luck. Typically a client and escort relationship ended after a single journey, but to think he had caught the eye of this Alchemist Arrayist. He was glad he spoke up previously for him at the party. “Then I’ll make sure to work hard for you, Master Ken.”

“You don’t need to call me Master, Arrayist works fine.” Ken could feel Emerald’s blood lust rise when Lan called him Master. It seemed that she wanted to keep that for herself, and Ken wasn’t sure he wanted a man to call him such a word when he was called it so tenderly by his women.

“So the client is a cripple?” an escort said, walking over to him. He had a drink in hand and was already a little tipsy. He had short black hair, a headband, and a sword at his side.

Ken looked to the escort worker, who smiled warily. “Though his attitude isn’t preferable, I can guarantee his skills as a Middle Martial Expert.”

“I’ll take your word for it,” Ken replied, looking to see a set of twins approach as well. They were both quite short, and wore identical outfits though their colours were the complete opposite. One was a woman with pink hair, the other was a man with blue hair. They were both roughly in their early thirties. They both had spears on their backs too.

“You must be the client,” they said in unison, placing their fists into their palms and bowing to Ken.

“I’m Arrayist Ken,” he said.

“An Arrayist? Though you’re offering pills?” the drunkard asked.

“I have some alchemy abilities, though if you prefer, Emerald could make the pills for you instead.” Ken motioned a hand to Emerald.

“Why are you two wearing masks?” the drunkard asked.

“I am Lily,” the girl twin said.

“Ash,” the boy twin added.

“We are known as the Twin Spears.”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you both.”

“I’m Gin.” The tipsy swordsman took another swig of his alcohol. “So I hear you needed us now?”

“That’s correct,” Ken said. “I’ve already given the payment.”

“You’ll be paying for our room and board right?” Gin asked. “I drink a lot, so I hope you can afford it.”

“If you work hard, it’s only right you play hard.”

“I fight better when I’m drunk, so let me play hard.”

“If that’s true, I’ll make sure you’re near passing out drunk.”

“I’m strongest when I’m passed out drunk,” Gin said. “My fighting style is the Ten Drunken Swords.”

Ken nodded. “Then let’s order some drinks before we leave.” He could see that it wasn’t a lie from the way the man spoke. As long as he did good work, he was happy for the man to drink as much as he wanted.

“Ooooooh? Finally, a decent employer!” Gin laughed wildly, only stopping to drink some more.

Ken looked to the escort pavilion worker, who nodded his head slowly in return. Ken sighed and then rubbed his forehead. “Now that we’ve all accepted, let’s go.”

They made their way to the wagon pavilion in order to buy a wagon. The boy from before saw Ken and quickly rushed out to meet him.

“Sir!”

Ken flicked over a gold coin. “I’ll need a wagon. I don’t need anything fancy, just big enough for me and my companions, and also four horses for my escorts.”

“Yes, sir!”

The boy then brought Ken inside for some tea, and someone else attended to him. An older chubby man appeared, who had a balding head, and a long beard.

“It’s good to see you again, Arrayist.”

“You as well, Wagon Head.”

“I wanted to confirm that you wanted to buy a wagon and six horses?”

“That’s correct.”

“Do you have any special requests?”

“I don’t want anything too fancy, but I wouldn’t mind a few frills.”

The Wagon Head thought for a moment. “Understood. Do you care for what it’s made out of?”

“Something sturdy.”

“We have a carriage which will suit you fine. It has space for an arrays you may wish to apply to it.”

Ken smiled. “That sounds reasonable.”

“The price will be ten gold coins.”

Ken placed down ten gold coins. The escorts looked down at Ken, who was casually throwing out so many gold coins.

[I wonder how much he’ll spend on drinks.]

Gin was sick of cheapskates who would never splash out enough money for his abilities. To see someone throwing out so much coin for a carriage and some horses. Could he ask for a few barrels of alcohol? He didn’t mind cheap ale at all.

Once the carriage arrived, Ken checked it over quickly. It was fairly plain, made of some tougher wood, though it wouldn’t be able to handle someone hacking away at it with their ki. He’d need to set up an array around it in order to protect it, but that could come later.

“Thank you for your hard work,” Ken said to the Wagon Head, saying his goodbyes. “Come,” he said to his escorts and slaves. “We need to go meet with someone.” He looked to Gin. “…” He handed Gin a gold coin. “Go ahead and buy some alcohol.”

Gin looked at the gold coin and then to Ken. He grinned wide. “Aren’t you one hell of a guy?” He chuckled as he left. Ken looked to Lan. “Follow him and make sure he doesn’t get into any trouble. We’ll meet at the inn that you guarded previously.”

Lan nodded, understanding his worries, and followed Gin out.

“Let’s meet with the Newblades to see if he still wants Hana to follow me.” He assumed at this point in time, the array had been fixed poorly and the others would have entered the dungeon. In a few hours time, their people should return, otherwise they would have a hard time.
