"I have some business to attend to,” Ken said. “When you get the items for Emerald to make you the pill, send us a message through the commerce pavilion. Why don’t you two enjoy yourselves?” Ken said to Nana and Yue.
Asha could see the look in his eyes and he smiled. “See you soon.”
Ken could hear the goodbye within her ton, and he nodded to her, before he, Emerald, and Chandi left, with Emerald pushing his wheelchair.
It was weird to the others to see that Emerald, a great Alchemist, was pushing Ken’s wheelchair, but they had seen how close they had been.
Plus, Chandi had one arm.
The three followed the trail upwards, heading to the centre of the town, towards the second layer. Guards were at the top of the steps, and he looked up at them.

The guard smiled at him and shook his head. Ken looked up to Emerald, who easily pulled his wheelchair up and carried him. It was embarrassing, but Ken needed to buy some decent clothing so he had to bear with it.
“You can stop right there, cripple. What do you think you’re doing?”
“I would like to peruse some of the shops in the middle district,” Ken said.
“You mean the second layer? You’re a foreigner, huh?” The guard chuckled. “I don’t think that you can afford anything in the second layer.”
Ken looked up the guard, wondering where he dropped his brain. “You don’t think I could afford something in the second layer?”
“You’re walking around, well, not walking around,” he said, chuckling as the guards bumped elbows to the terrible joke. “You’re not walking around with a one armed wolf girl beside you. You should probably stick to the third layer.”
Ken narrowed his eyes.
[No. Calm down. It’s just a little while longer.]
“Since my gold coins are not welcome, then I will just have to shop around in the third layer.” Ken looked up to Emerald and nodded.
“What’s with the look, she bitch?” The guard glared at Chandi, who was scowling at the guard.
“Let’s go,” Ken said.
They retreated from the steps as the guards chuckled. Ken wondered what he should say or do for revenge, but he exhaled deeply.
[They’re not worth it.]
They went around, searching for a clothing store. They eventually found one near the second layer. “Good evening, are you still open?”
“If you have the coin,” the old woman said. She was already sewing something together.
“I need a few sets of clothing, nothing tailored.” Ken looked around, finding a few outfits. “Pick whatever you like, I’ll buy you each five outfits,” Ken said. “Plus another ten…” He recalled their general sizes, and placed down a few silver coins for the various outfits.
“What about this for you?” Emerald asked, holding out a martial outfit.
“Or this?” Chandi revealed a pair of shorts and nothing else.

Ken bought whatever outfits they wanted him to wear, considering they were so well behaved recently, and he had been quite negligent to them all, except Emerald who would have gone insane if he hadn’t done anything with her.
Once they had bought the clothes, and their hats, Ken sent Emerald away to sell their carriage and buy another one, letting her get changed immediately afterwards. He, too, changed into a set of martial clothing, and then stood up.
He sighed, feeling the sensation of his weight against his legs. He clenched his fists together and punched the air.
[Finally!]
He screamed internally, but he wanted out let out a primal roar. If he wasn’t trying to remain stealthy, he would have done so.
Chandi put on a cloak, staring at him. She smiled and then put on her mask.
[Master looks so happy!]
Her tail swished from side to side before it stopped. Ken led her to the Escort Pavilion. He changed his voice slightly, taking on a more rough voice.
“I’m looking for two Low Martial Experts. I need them for the journey to the next town.” Ken placed down a bracelet of silver coins, which was roughly twenty silver coins.
The escort worker nodded, bringing out a few posters with a rough estimate of the escort’s strengths.
Ken took a casual glance and picked two, each of them appearing to be swordsmen of some repute. “When can they leave?”
“I will send word and they should be ready within the hour,” the man said, taking the bracelet of coins to pay for the escorts. He tried to return a few of the coins, but Ken shook his head. “Split it between your fine pavilion and the escorts.”
“As you say,” the worker replied, nodding his head. He was just glad there was someone here who knew what they wanted and didn’t take too long, with no bothersome requests.
“I’ll return within the hour to pick them up,” Ken said, leaving. He walked towards the Wagon Pavilion, where he saw Emerald with a fine carriage, something which was like their old carriage, but much more refined.
The wood was engraved all around, and it gave just enough of a fine appearance that people would show him some respect, but not enough that he was drawing too much attention.
Ken looked at the pair and smiled. “Emerald, you should change too.”
Emerald did as he commanded, changing her clothing, and also removing her veil. Finally, she was allowed to breathe freely, and could feel the wind against her face.
Ken then returned back to the inn, wearing a coolie hat to hide himself slightly. He took a quick glance around, catching Yue’s and Nana’s eyes for a moment, and they understood that they should leave soon.
Ken bought a light meal, keeping to himself. Chandi remained nearby, but outside, not to give them away. Escorts had keen eyes, so maybe would catch that she only had one arm, and notice Ken’s eyes.
Once he was almost done with his meal, Yue and Nana thanked the escorts and Asha, and then left. Ken paid for his meal, tipping a few copper coins, and then left as well.
Yue and Nana had walked around, quickly changed, wearing a mask, and then entered the carriage. Ken entered the carriage right after them. He hugged Nana first, grabbing her close.
“Master?”
“Finally!” He laughed and then looked to Yue. He pulled her in too, hugging her tight, and then grabbed Chandi too, picking her up slightly.
Emerald finally returned with a driver, and entered into the carriage. She smiled when she saw Ken there, laying down on the bench. He looked up at her and grinned.
“Doesn’t it feel good?”
“It does, master.”
“Hold on, you can’t call me master. Remember, you’re my master.”
“Ah…” Emerald smiled wider and then sat down beside him. She wrapped her arms around him and pulled her in close for a tight hug.
Ken pulled her in closer and then kissed her neck. He continued to pepper he with kisses, before then nibbling on her ear. He looked to the others and smiled wide.
“I’m going to have a lot of fun with you all once we’re in Beast Bane Town.”
The girls giggled.
“So Nana and Chandi, you’ll be my guards. Yue, you too, but you’ll also be my administrator. Our old deal is still on.”
Yue nodded her head, sighing in relief. She trusted Ken to keep his side of the deal, but to hear him say it, it filled her with a sense of relief.
The entire play had been to minimise how many people had seen him and the others together without their new attires. No one should be able to pin his crippled self to everyone else.
“Right. We need to change your names…” Ken thought about it. “Yuri, Nimi, Chan.” He made it simple for himself, but different enough that people wouldn’t be able to figure it out right away, even if their names began with the same.
“And yourself, master?” Yuri asked.
Ken looked to Emerald. “We’ll keep our names. It would be difficult to connect them together when we truly need to.”
“As you wish, master,” Yuei said.
He looked between each of his women, seeing their gazes. Now they were masked, and he and Emerald were free. They would have to live a lie now, until he was confident enough in his strength.
“Let’s go!” Ken grinned wide, excited to finally leave.
Ken invited the escorts, and rented a pair of horses for them. He treated them well, but not as well as the other four who had travelled with him. They travelled together to the next town, swapping escorts, drivers, and horses, and continuing on. He used his pills on himself, his women, and horses, in order to reach Beast Bane Town in half the time.
