Ken was sat down cross legged on the top of a hill within the town. He was nearly nude, except for his shorts, which Chan had bought him a while ago.

He was currently cultivating, taking in the sun and refining his ki repeatedly under the effects of the rising dawn pill, which was a high grade pill which Emerald had made for him. The plant within him was enjoying being nurtured.

She was also standing nearby, at attention in order to protect him. She was his daily guard, and the two had become quite close. She was also secretly admiring his body, seeing the way his body sweat as he cultivated.

[I hope he lets me lick his body.]

Her tail swished from side to side at the thought, but very quickly it stopped. She turned to look towards the entrance where a Young Master had appeared.

[That smells like trouble! It doesn’t smell like Master at all…]

Chan controlled her ears, making sure they didn’t dip. She needed to behave as Ken’s guard.

The Young Master was a well built young man, with long hair which was neatly pulled up and then went down towards his back. He also had a sword at his side, one which was at least high grade earth, which would have been suitable for Martial Experts, not a Martial Warrior like him.

“What’s this?” The Young Master’s voice was full of arrogance, and Chan knew that there was going to be a situation.

[Master, how do you get into such trouble all the time?]

The cliches were beginning to annoy Chan who just wanted people to leave her Master alone.

“A stranger using the Hill Top?” The Young Master grinned, waving a hand to his guard. “Go check his papers to see if he’s a vagabond.” Of course, there was very little chance that this man must be a vagabond, it was just so that the Young Master could exert his influence since he was from one of the major families.

Ken was deep in cultivation, and if anyone disturbed him, it would have been terrible to lose all the gains he could have made. Chan stepped up, blocking the guard from meeting with her Master.

“The Town Lord has given my Master permission to use this area.”

“Who dares to step into the path of this Young Master’s guard?” The Young Master called out arrogantly. “Do you wish to invite trouble?”

“Master is cultivating, you can’t disturb him!”

“Who is this Master of yours?” The Young Master had a thought, wondering if perhaps this Master was someone of renown, someone even he couldn’t offend. After all, his guard was quite powerful.

“Disciple Ken,” Chan said, recalling the identity Ken was using.

“Disciple Ken?” The Young Master felt as though he had heard of the name, but since he couldn’t recall, it wouldn’t be very important. “I’ve never heard of such a guy.”

“Master was given the right to cultivate here thanks to the Town Lord.” Chan remained standing between the guard and her master, warning him. The guard was a Peak Martial Warrior, someone she could defeat with a little effort.

Seeing that Chan was stronger than his guard, the Young Master could only retreat. He picked a spot on the Hill Top to cultivate.

The Hill Top was an area within Beast Bane Town which was opened up to the various Young Masters and Young Misses in order to cultivate. It assisted everyone up to Martial Expert, where they couldn’t draw enough of the area’s essence to really make a difference.

As time passed, several more Young Masters and Young Misses appeared. One was from another main family, by the name of Hammerbane, whereas most were just minor families which were under the main families.

Young Master Swordbane, who was first there and tried to cause trouble with Ken, smiled once he saw a few minor families. “Do any of my compatriots recognise this stranger who is currently basking in the sun?”

“This one doesn’t.”

“Me neither.”

“Who is it?”

“Apparently, he is some kind of disciple.” Young Master Swordbane looked to Ken, whose cultivation was so much weaker than their own.

“With his weak cultivation?”

“He must be the disciple of some escort who picked him up as an orphan?”

“Or a disciple of some minor scholar?”

They noted his clothes weren’t of high quality like their own, so he couldn’t be a noble, which meant that they outranked him.

“I think he's a trouble maker,” Young Master Swordbane said. “We should teach him a lesson and bring him to the Town Lord. Don’t you agree, my fellow compatriots?”

The other families weren’t that interested in bullying this young man, just in case he did have a powerful backing, but since it was the Young Master of the Swordbane family, those who were under his family had to act.

Another Young Master and Young Miss nodded to their guards, each in the High Martial Warrior realm. They stepped up, assisting the Swordbane’s guard.

Chan remained still, glancing between the guards. She had to protect her Master, and it was going to be awkward with so many guards ready to attack. They also wielded decent weapons, and were probably trained quite well. However, if she did hurt them, her Master could be in trouble.

[Too much thinking.]

She drew out her high grade earth claws, readying to defend her Master if the need arose.

“You should step aside, Escort Wolf Bitch,” Young Master Swordbane said arrogantly. He was grinning wide, hoping that she wouldn’t step aside.

Chan was in front of her Master, but the other guards went around behind her. She tried to keep them all within her sight, but they were in a triangle around her and Ken.

“Apprehend the intruder at once!” The Young Master motioned with a hand, giving out the declaration with authority which didn’t allow them to disobey.

The guard leapt forward into battle, but Chan darted forward to push back the Young Master’s guard, before turning around and slashing at the two guards who were only a step away from her Master, but they brought up their weapons to barely defend themselves.

"It looks like you need some help,” Young Master Hammerbane said, looking to the other Young Master of a major family.

"What do you want?" Young Master Swordbane asked his rival, though they were also quite friendly with one another when it was against outsiders.

"You will pay for drinks next time." Young Master Hammerbane smiled.

"You are the most thirstiest Young Master I have ever met, but since we are friends…” Young Master Swordbane nodded his head.

Young Master Hammerbane motioned a hand to some of the other guards of families which were subservient to his own. They threw a quick glance to their own Young Masters and Young Misses, who nodded, though they were quite nervous about the situation.

The guards each leapt forward again, drawing out their weapons to harm the wolf girl. They weren’t even trying to go for Ken this time, instead focusing on subduing the beast woman. They grew up in a town which had Beast Hordes every few years, so beast people were hated in this town especially.

Chan fought the guards, deflecting their weapons with her claws and her nimbleness, but she was quickly being pushed back by the sheer number of guards who were attacking.

[Damn it! I’m going to lose!]

A yawn broke the tension in the air, causing the guards to stop, and Chan to retreat beside her Master.

“My, my, it’s so noisy,” Ken said, standing up and stretching as he finished refining his ki. He still had a while left with his pill, but the goddess had awoken him during his cultivation.

He looked at Chan, who was scuffed up, and then at the guards all around her. He looked at the finely dressed Young Masters and Young Misses, and vaguely understood what was happening.

“Chan,” he said, causing Chan to turn to face him and stand at attention.

“Yes, Master?”

“Which people were trying to interrupt me?” Ken asked.

Chan motioned to the six families which had tried to deal with her and Ken. Ken nodded his head, glancing at each of them.

“I hope to hear the Young Master's and Young Miss’ names, since it seems you have some business with me."

“This one is Han Sol Swordbane.”

“This one is Jon Ten Hammerbane."

He also received the names of the other families, writing them down. Swordfall, Swordrain, Hammerrock, Hammerton.

“What are you doing?” Young Master Swordbane asked, watching Ken curiously. He hadn’t expected this kind of response.

[This bastard! Does he not see me in his eyes?]

“Just writing down some names for when I speak to the Town Lord,” Ken replied back innocently. He had to continue to mention the Town Lord in order to make it safe for he and Chan. He then began to slip on his clothing, which caused Chan to pout slightly behind her mask.

[These bastards! How dare they ruin my time to drool over Master!]

Chan just wants to lick Ken. How dare they ruin their alone time!
