Ken smirked. “I thank the Town Lord for his assistance in this matter. I will let my Master know what you had done for me.”

The Town Lord smiled and nodded. He was extremely lucky today, since Ken didn’t push the matter any further, allowing everyone to feel like they got what they wanted. Since the Young Masters and Young Misses accepted their punishment in front of him, he had something in his back pocket in case their families tried anything in relation to this matter.

[This Disciple Ken is vicious.]

The others also left, heading to the Hill Top in order to cultivate since this had derailed their day.

“Should we get revenge?” It was a Young Master who was trying to get the Young Master Swordbane to notice him.

“Are you an idiot?” Young Master Swordbane asked. “He let us off for free and you want to bother him? Don’t start any more trouble with him. He and the Town Lord seemed to have some relationship, so don’t do anything cliched like getting revenge for nothing. It’s not like our families are going to be their patrons.”

Ken whistled happily as he left, already plotting a greater revenge against them. His happy whistling actually stemmed from the rage deep within him. Seeing Chan getting hurt for protecting him by all these ignoble bastards…

As they returned back to the estate, they walked through the market. There, Ken saw a few pieces of jewellery. Pendants, rings, bracelets, all kinds of jewellery on display.

The young woman at the stall looked up at him. She had skin like milk tea, similar to that of Asha, and wore long robes all over her body. She smiled up at Ken with the smile of a merchant who wanted to take away all his coins.

“Does the Young Master like my wares?” The woman motioned a hand over her jewellery.

“I do,” Ken replied back, nodding his head.

“Does anything catch your eye?” The woman continued to smile, hoping she’d be able to make a few silver coins from this young man.

Ken noticed a pendant which had a small cut emerald in the shape of a within a golden cage which branched around the gem. It was small, but crafted extremely well, with tiny patterns within the gold.

“How much for this?” Ken asked, pointing to the pendant.

“That one is one of my best pieces,” the woman said, all the while taking note of the Martial Expert she hired. “It’s one gold piece.”

“How about for these,” Ken asked, pointing to a pendant with a black gem set along a silver chain, and a necklace which was extremely thin, which had a ruby set at the centre.

“These are thirty and fifty silver respectively,” the woman said.

Ken wondered if he should ask Chan if she liked anything, but it would be awkward to ask his guard for her opinion on jewellery.

“I’d like all three of them, and if you have anything which has a grey or white gem you recommend, a choker specifically.”

The woman stared at Ken for a moment. “Excuse me, did you say you wanted all three?”

“That’s right.” Ken placed down two gold coins. “With the rest of the money, I’d like something with a grey or white gem.” He smiled.

The woman quickly grabbed her jewellery and quickly packaged them. “Of course, Young Master!”

[I didn’t expect him to casually take out two gold coins!]

“How about this lovely piece, with a small grey pearl?” She offered, revealing a choker made of some kind of white leather, with the smallest pearl he had ever seen.

“That’s perfect.” Ken nodded, taking the four items into his ring.

“The Young Master must really like his woman. If the Young Master has more coin, I could show the Young Master one of my greater pieces.”

“A greater piece? Please do show me.” Ken leaned in slightly, more intrigued.

The woman pulled out a ring, one which was made purely out of diamond, with a white pearl set in it. Since it was mostly white and clear, it would match most people. “The ring holds a property which allows it to shrink or grow to about half or double its size with enough ki, so you don’t have to worry about it fitting.”

It was Ken’s first thought, so he was glad she answered it so quickly. “How much is the ring?” He stared at it, wanting it badly.

“Twenty gold coins.” The woman smiled.

“Then I’ll take the ring as well as the pendants.”

The woman smiled wider and packed the ring for him as well. “If you have any more needs for jewellery, please come to me. I’ll be here for at least another week.”

“If I have the need for more jewellery, I’ll be sure to buy from you first.”

“Hold on,” a young woman called out. “I’d like to purchase that ring.”

Ken turned to face the woman. There was a Peak Martial Expert by her side. She wore refined clothing of pink and white, and carried a fan in one hand which she was using to cool herself. Her hair was a very dark blonde, and her eyes were a silvery blue.

“Would the Young Master be willing to sell the ring to me?” Her voice was quite soft, but there was an air of nobility within it.

Ken was trying to figure out who she was, but understood it would be quite difficult to offend her. “I had someone in mind for the ring, but I can surely trade with the Young Miss if she has a fair deal in mind.”

“Do you have a price you wish to name?” The Young Miss asked.

“…” Ken wasn’t sure what he should say. “Perhaps we should introduce ourselves first?”

“Is there a need for it?”

“Well, it would be best for someone like me not to offend someone so beautiful, don’t you think?”

“Flatterer,” the woman replied back. She wasn’t a fan of those who tried to flatter her because of her status, but she couldn’t be too rude. “This one is Meda Goldenthunder.”

“Goldenthunder? What is your relation with the Town Lord?”

“He is my grandfather.” She narrowed her eyes, keeping in a sigh. She wondered how he would grovel.

[Young men these days don’t have any pride…]

“I see. This one is Disciple Ken.” He placed his hands together in a greeting and bowed his head.

Young Miss Goldenthunder stopped cooling herself with her fan. She was sure she had heard of that name but she couldn’t quite place it. The Martial Expert leaned in to whisper something to her Young Miss.

“Since the Young Miss has set her eyes on the ring, then I’ll part with it for what I paid for it.” Ken didn’t want to start any trouble with the Town Lord’s family, so was willing to let the item go.

The Young Miss realised who he was with her Martial Expert’s assistance. “I don’t wish to make anything difficult for you, Disciple Ken. If you have your eyes set on the ring, I will buy something else.”

“It was something I wanted to buy for my Master, but I also had something else in mind for her.”

The Young Miss began to sweat slightly. She couldn’t possibly take something meant for the Alchemist, so she was trying to figure out a way to make things right whilst saving face.

Ken could see her struggling, so merely smiled. “Perhaps there’s another piece of jewellery the Young Miss has her eyes on? This one would be willing to buy it for the Young Miss’ benevolence.”

The Young Miss wasn’t sure if she should accept. The pair of them were dancing around trying to offend one another. “If Disciple Ken insists…” She was trying to make sure she didn’t ruin the relationship between them, just as he was trying to do the same.

“Please pick whichever piece the Young Miss would like. Though, it would be awkward if it was a ring.” Ken chuckled, trying to ease the tension between them.

“No rings? What a shame. I’m sure my grandfather wouldn’t protest.”

Ken coughed. “I would need to speak with my Master about such matters, so I hope the Young Miss won’t make things too difficult.”

The Young Miss started to fan herself again. “Then please allow me to pick this bracelet,” she said, motioning a hand to a small bracelet which was made of silver, with a small golden ring dangling off of it.

“That piece would be ten silver pieces,” the merchant said, looking between them both. “Since the Young Master has brought so much, it’s not a difficult thing to hand it over.”

“Allow me to buy a few more pieces,” Ken said, placing down five gold coins. “Consider it a gift.” Ken was beginning to sweat under the pressure of buying another woman jewellery, but he also found it to be a chance to deepen his relationship with the Goldenthunder family.

“This Young Miss thanks you, Disciple Ken.” The Young Miss smiled at him, though she was also panicking.

“I’ll excuse myself first,” Ken said, turning quickly and rushing off with Chan.

[That was so stressful! Fighting is so much easier!]

The Young Miss looked at the jewellery she wanted to buy. She turned red, as she thought of something.

[Isn’t this the first time a man from outside of family has bought me jewellery?]

Meda looked at the bracelet, and then put it on her wrist. Ken didn’t exactly grovel before her, but he did treat her quite well.

[Well, I guess he isn’t so bad.]

The Martial Expert noticed how her Young Miss had turned red, but didn’t say anything.

From a distance, a Martial Master had been watching the interaction after being told that the Young Miss had met with Disciple Ken. He saw the way the Young Miss turned red, and several thoughts crossed his mind.

[What should I tell the Town Lord? Should I kill the disciple secretly?]

He continued to watch as Ken left, heading back to his estate.

[Being the Left Sword is hard work.]
