After the incident that levelled most of the city of Anvi the Fire irons was well and truly screwed, not only had they lost their king, they had also lost the king of the Black oni's that came running to 'help' them, as for the WInd spirits? They seemed to have turned bandits and attacked everybody that set foot in the now seemingly cursed former Fire iron lands, Mike was pleased with his smooth progress as he neared around a 1/4th of the experience he needed to level up to level 9, Julie only lagged after a bit as they both consumed the experience fruits that Beel made out of the people they captured alive, currently, Beel was teaching Mike and Julie about mana
"---So when you kill a person or creature you absorb some of its accumulated mana, or experience"
"Then how does the level up work?"
"The crystal ball simply activates the ambient mana in your body once it has reached a certain capacity and strengthens your body"
Mike nodded, then he asked the thing that bugged him the most
"Then why can't I just absorb mana from the air?"
Beel showed a smile
"Because you don't have a monster core like the dragons or Serina"
Mike nodded before he thought for a bit and asked
"Why didn't my homeworld have these level-up crystals?"
Beel showed a smile and spoke
"Because only the 7 prime worlds have the level-up crystals… That reminds me it's almost time…"
"Time for what?"
"For the meeting with the five other demon generals, you have to do your best to get selected as the new demon general Mike"
"Wait… What do you mean get selected?"
"Oh… Haven't I mentioned this?"

Beel tilted her head slightly before she spoke an "Oh, well" and explained it to Mike and Julie
"The reason for the ceasefire was so that both sides could build up their forces by having their inheritors travel to the 7 prime worlds and gain strength"
"So you're saying that there are 6 more people just like Jane..?"
Mike suddenly felt like he was getting a headache when Beel suddenly dropped a bombshell
"No there's only 3 left, the rest have been killed or enslaved by the other demon general candidates"
"Wait… There are other candidates? Didn't you say that I was the only one to have my soul converted?"
"Yes on Earth, did you think Earth was the only world on this plane?"
Mike thought about it for a second before he shook his head and muttered
"I guess not…"
Beel looked at Mike for a few seconds before she realized he was sulking and showed a very motherly smile walked over to him and hugged him close as she spoke
"Don't worry Mike, you're still plenty special to me"
Mike was about to say something when Julie hugged his back and spoke proudly
"You're the most special person to me, Mike"
After a while, Beel broke the hug and asked Mike
"Are you confident in becoming the new demon general?"
"It's what I was chosen for right?"
"Yeah, that's right"
"Then I am confident"
Beel's face lit up as she spoke
"Good then let's start special training right away"
"Okay..?"
Beel showed a smile and stood in front of Mike and spoke
"Then look into my eyes…"
Mike looked into her eyes for a bit before he suddenly felt dizzy and attempted to look away but found he was unable to, Beel spoke
"This is a type of charm magic, you have to use your willpower to break it"
"Okay…"
Mike quickly summoned his willpower and broke eye contact with ease
"Well done Mike, do you think you have it down now, or would you like to try again?"
"Once more, turn the power up this time"
Beel showed a smile and locked eyes with Mike…
A couple of hours later Mike had the basics of charm magic resistance down, then Beel formed a pair of swords out of darkness and went a few rounds with Mike, or rather beat him within an inch of his life for a couple of hours, from there it was late and Beel commanded Mike to go to sleep which he happily did, from there the next few weeks was combat training, consuming experience fruits, and charm magic resistance training for Mike, after a few weeks he felt like he had gotten significantly stronger form constantly fighting an opponent that was stronger and than him, in recent days he even found room to counter-attack a few times when he felt that he had finally gained a leg worth of foothold Beel showed a smile and spoke
"Then let's tune the difficulty up a bit"
From there Beel suddenly grew stronger and faster and proceed to beat him up again for the next 3 weeks before she turned the difficulty up again… This continued for about a year before he got the seal of approval from Beel, by now he was close to reaching level 9, on a random morning Beel suddenly muttered
"It's about time…"
"For the selection?"
"Yeah… Let's go ahead, it's better to be early after all"
"How are we going to get there?"
"We're already there"
"Eh..?"
Mike looked around and saw that the space around them had suddenly changed to that of an arena like the one he had seen in travel programs about Italy, Him, Julie and Beel were currently standing down on the arena floor, Mike looked up and saw that the sky was filled with stars, it was brightly lit where they stood, the rest of the arena was also brightly lit up, Mike looked around and saw a shadow sitting in the viewing stands, Beel followed his eyes and showed a smile before she spoke
"It's rude to stare Mike"
"Oh, sorry"
Mike looked away again, then Beel picked up Julie in her arms and spoke
"Well then Mike, do your best"
Then she floated up to the stands and sat down with Julie beside her, Mike looked around and saw that a man had appeared on the arena floor, the first impression he got was that he was fat, though he felt some familiarity with him and made a light bow as he introduced himself
"I am Mike"
The fat man showed a smile
"My name is Gas"
Mike shook hands with Gas and the two of them began to chat about this and that
"---Are you married to Mike?"
"Yeah, happily married, her name is Julie"
Gas nodded as he showed a smile
"We have a little thorny relationship, but I love her all the same, her name is Axela"
As they reached a break in their conversation another person showed up next to them, she looked like she was covered in darkness, she was a little short and her hair was pitch black, she stared intensely at Mike and Gas, then she asked
"Are you guys well know on the battlefield known as love?"
Mike and Gas looked at each other before they nodded, and Gas asked
"What do you want to know girly?"
"Muu… I am an adult you know, I am 24 you know?"
"Sorry, sorry"
Mike showed a smile and asked
"So what's your name?"
"I am Mel, are you married, mister?"
"Name's Mike, yeah I am happily married"
"Then do you know how to make someone fall for you?"

"Yeah with honesty and charm, though if they are a little dense you have to be rather aggressive"
Mel looked like she was memorizing what Mike was saying for a bit before she asked
"Then… What if they say that they hate you? Then is it no good?"
Mike saw that Mel was about to tear up and thought for a bit before he spoke
"They say that hatred and love are two sides of the same coin"

"It means that if they say they hate you then you are closer to their heart than if they say that they don't think anything about you"
Mike looked up to the gallery and waved at Julie before he leaned in and spoke in a low voice
"You know I used to hate my wife because she was stronger than me… But then before I knew it I had fallen for her"

Mel nodded and was about to speak again when a loud haughty voice spoke out
"Ha! Childish nonsense! If you want someone you should simply take them, use them and then throw them away!"
The three of them looked over and saw a man with a bare upper body that was chiselled with muscles that struck a dramatic pose, Mike nodded before he asked
"Quick question, Who didn't love you as a child?"
"Ha! Someone as great as I don't need a flimsy thing such as love! Power is all you need in life!"
