Chapter 172: New demon general

Mike's fight against Alexa continued, though for some reason it felt more like playing, her blows had a certain rhythm to them, eventually, Mike gave up on using the hammer to take a chunk out of her and decided to throw caution to the wind and follow her rhythm, this was bad for a couple of reasons the most obvious reason would be that following her rhythm would throw away his Initiative in the fight
'I am not getting anywhere like this… my only option is to follow her and then ambush her when she goes on the offensive…'
Mike then began following her rhythm and the so far inconsistent sounds of the weapon's meeting each other became orderly at once as a song almost began following out from the deadly dance the two of them were doing, as they were fighting Alexa's weapon's switched to shortswords before they switched to daggers, then suddenly Alexa changed her rhythm, or rather she began speeding it up, Mike still followed her until suddenly she began laughing
"Ahahahahaha! I knew it!"
Then she stopped fighting and took some distance from Mike before she looked up at Bel and spoke
"I give~ Let's sing another song next time Mike?"
"Sure"
"Winner Demon of Blood: Mike"
Mike walked back up the gallery and sat down next to Gas and breathed out a sigh as he spoke
"Well, that was rough…"
Mel seemed happy that Mike won and congratulated him
"Congratulations Mike"
Gas however was a little more confused and asked
"Why did Alexa surrender?
Mike shrugged before he spoke
"I have no idea… She said something about singing another song sometime"
"I see…"
"Next fight, Demon of Pride: Alexander VS Demon of Pestilence: Maxwell"
Maxwell and Alexander quickly took the stage, when they did Alexander asked Maxwell
"Will you surrender peacefully?"
Maxwell looked at Alexander for a bit before he clicked his tongue and spoke
"Fine… I surrender"
Mel narrowed her eyes and asked Gas
"Hey, why did he surrender?"
"...I have no idea"
Mike thought for a bit before he nodded and spoke
"The skill he used against you Mel has some cast time, he's not a frontline fighter while Alexander is"
"I see…"
Axelander yelled from down on the arena floor
"Won't you come down here Mike?"
"Sure, I'll be there in a moment Alexander"
Mike stood up and walked down to the arena floor and stood face to face with Alexander with a slight smile on his face, Alexander had a wide smile as he imagined himself as the new demon general then after Beel confirmed the two of them were ready she spoke
"Final fight: Demon of Blood: Mike VS Demon of Pride: Alexander… Begin!"
Neither Mike nor Alexander kicked off the ground, they stood and faced each other for a bit before Alexander spoke
"Surrender Mike, You can't possibly beat me!"
Mike showed his usual smile as he spoke
"I am pretty sure that I can… Why don't you surrender, I'll make you my 2nd in command"
Alexander looked visibly insulted by Mike's offer as his face contrasted in anger as he yelled
"2nd in command!? I am the greatest demon here! I AM PRIDE!"
Alexander started to change as suddenly white transparent horns grew out of his forehead, along with that the transparent armor formed around him and he grasped his two shortswords and kicked off the ground charging at Mike that quickly dripped a drop of blood onto his shield and fired off a beam of destructive energy at Alexander who's figure shook before it disappeared and reappeared right behind Mike as he stabbed his sword through Mike's back collapsing his right lung before he was forced to dodge as Mike slashed out after him, Mike kneeled down on one knee and coughed up blood as Alexander reappeared in front of him and spoke mockingly
"Is that all it takes?"
Mike quickly got onto his feet and slashed out after Alexander that respond by dodging again and reappearing behind Mike and slashing out on his back leaving a deep cut, then he scoffed before he disappeared again and reappeared in front of Mike and slashed out at him once more leaving a long cut on his chest before he spun and delivered a kick to Mike's chest sending him flying back hitting the edge of the arena before he spoke mockingly again
"Come on Mike, work with me here, surrender! Or I'll cut you to pieces!"
Mike suddenly began laughing, then he stood up properly and spoke
"This is around a 2 out of 10 on the scale of pain… Come on Alexander, my wife can do better than you"
"YOU!"
Then Alexander disappeared from view again and reappeared in front of Mike that showed a slight smile as he spoke
"[Blood for blood]"
Then right before Alexander's shortsword landed on his neck Mike disappeared from view and reappeared behind Aleaxner that widened his eyes in shock as the knife cut across his back leaving a long cut, Mike used his momentum to spin around and deliver a kick to the side of Alexander blowing him to the opposite side of the arena where he quickly emerged from a cloud of dust as he spoke
"Oh, you have done it now Mike! Now I am angry!"
"I see… [Drink]"
Alexander suddenly fell to his knees and looked down at his own hands to see that they had become dried husks, then he looked up at Mike again and was about to say something when the light when out in his eyes, when he could see again he realized that all the new demon general candidates where kneeling down to Mike on the arena floor, Alexander grit his teeth and was about to kneel down when Mike appeared in front of him and laid his hand on his shoulder as he spoke
"Would you become my 2nd in command Alexander?"
Alexander quickly kneeled down and spoke with respect
"It would be my honor"
After that, the gathering ended as the ceremony to make Mike the new demon general would take place once he actually ascended and reached level 10, Mike Julie, and Beel returned to their own prime world, Mike that was exhausted quickly went to bed…
The next morning Mike woke up and thought
'You know what… Fuck this...'
Then he rolled over and soon fell asleep again or at least he wanted to as someone walked into his room and poked him awake
"What..?"
Beel stood there and looked at his face for a bit before she asked
"Have you grown tired of killing people Mike?"
"What? No, I am just tired…"
"Good"
Beel showed a smile as Mike sat up on the bed, then she continued speaking
"As the new demon general candidate, you have a responsibility for your subordinates"
Mike nodded
"Yeah I get that"
"Then you should go help them out, don't worry I'll take good care of Julie in the meantime"
"Wait, you're sending me to them?"
Beel tilted her head slightly
"Yeah? What else should I do?"
Mike sighed before he asked
"Can I at least say goodbye to Julie first?"
"Sure, but hurry on back to me afterward"
Mike quickly found Julie and told her that he would be going to help the other new demons, she seemed a little sad that he would be going but after a long kiss she was less sad, then Mike quickly hurried back to Beel that nodded and spoke
"Then off you go"
Mike then felt a moment of weightlessness before he realized he was falling for real and looked down, he saw a city spreading out below him so he quickly summoned his wings and broke his one fall before he closed his eyes and felt the location of his subordinate
"It's Mel huh…"
Mike looked in the direction he felt Mel in and flew off, as he was flying he realized that he was on some continent or at least a large landmass as there was only land in sight even after flying 50 kilometers, there was also relatively good mana concentration in the air, around the level he was used to on the continent...
After flying for the best part of the day Mike reached the city where Mel should be, after bypassing the walls he laned on the middle of a busy road and looked around, there were some non-humans around but most of them wore slave collars and non that looked like Mike, thus he drew a whole lot of attention, Mike ignored this and walked ahead towards Mel location as he walked ahead the crowd got denser and soon it was almost impossible to move forwards, there seemed to be a public execution going on ahead, Mike narrowed his eyes slightly and was ready to fight if Mel was the one on the executions block but quickly calmed down again when he saw that it was some unknown dirty looking man, the executioner, however, was more eyecatching, she was a blonde beauty with a killer figure, that wielded a broadsword that seemed to be made out of pure gold, she quickly swung it down and beheaded the prisoner causing the crowd to go wild with excitement
"Kyaa~ Lady Lucy I love you!"
"Lady Lucy has slain another heinous criminal!"
'Wait a second…'
Mike recognized the first yell that came and looked over and saw… A very excited looking Mel that had her eyes locked on the blond beauty on the stage, Mike sighed before he muttered
"Love truly is blind, or was it justice..?"
