Chapter 70: Sleepless Night

As a primordial existence, zombies themselves had a very mysterious way of inheritance and the so-called inheritance did not refer to the continuation of future generations. Rather, it could be classified as the reproduction of a zombie community. With a zombie that had the ability to pass on their abilities acting as the center, after thousands of years of hard work, it may be possible to form a community of a dozen or so people since the conditions of inheritance were too harsh for both parties!

If the zombie acting as the center and pillar of the group were to be eliminated, the rest of the group would vanish overnight. On the contrary, if there was a problem with the zombie passing on the inheritance, the zombies that received the inheritance would also be affected. Damaged magic power could not be recovered in 30 to 40 years. As for the choice of who was to receive the inheritance, it was relatively extensive. It could be a zombie, demons and ghosts or when someone from the human race. No matter what species it was, it must be willing to become the inheritor under the knowledge of all the circumstances. In the process of receiving the inheritance, it would consume hundreds of years of cultivation from the bequeather. Therefore, there was no zombie that would easily pass on their inheritance to their clansmen. Zombies were originally not gregarious creatures and never expected the reproduction of their community.

However, when a zombie encountered some people, they could not help but think of the word “inheritance”. For example, now that someone truly and genuinely belonged to her, she actually had the strong urge to have Anhui become one of her own…

“Anhui has always belonged to the Empress, Anhui doesn’t understand the Empress’ meaning….” Anhui asked out of confusion. His life and body already belonged to the Empress and even his thoughts were related to the Empress. Didn’t he completely belong with the Empress now?

Liyou was stunned for a moment by Anhui’s reply. She immediately became somewhat anxious, how could she have thought about inheritance, this word. The meaning of this word was of excessively major gravity to her. She once thought that she would never have such a thought, as she led her eternal life, but she didn’t expect it to come to mind so easily….

But she only felt that she was a little impatient, but was unregretful especially after understanding Anhui’s meaning. She was truly satisfied with Anhui.”

“Anhui, go rest, Zhen wants to stroll around alone.” This night was truly eventful, just after settling matters, another one came.

Anhui left doubtfully and after confirming Anhui left, Liyou directed her words in a certain direction, “Something wrong?”

“I am here to find Feng Xue.” Liu Jin was a little nervous and had gathered up his courage before saying this. He had never once spoken to this enigmatic and unpredictable Empress. This was the first time he had such a direct face-to-face encounter. If he hadn’t been worried about Feng Xue, he would have stayed far away from this woman.

“He has fallen asleep in my palace, you can take him away.” As for the existence of Liu Jin, Liyou had no special feelings.

Liu Jin showed a look of surprise, as if he was startled to hear that Feng Xue was in Liyou’s palace. Hesitating, he didn’t know what to say. After thinking about it, he replied, “Since Feng Xue is with you, just let him stay here, Liu Jin will withdraw.”

Liu Jin was the person Feng Xue was closest to and naturally, he understood Feng Xue’s thoughts extremely well. Feng Xue’s heart was full of the woman standing in front of him. Since he was now in this woman’s bedroom, naturally, he would not be so meddlesome to take Feng Xue away, it is just that…..

“There are some things that Liu Jin shouldn’t say, but as Feng Xue’s friend, Liu Jin wants to say, that no matter who you are or how powerful you have, I hope you can cherish the people you have. Feng Xue is a simple person. Although he has experienced such unbearable experiences, Feng Xue’s heart remains pure and clean. Since he has decided on you, this is a matter of a life, please cherish it.”

Feng Xue’s grief, Feng Xue’s resentment, he had seen them all. He couldn’t express the sadness and anger in his heart, but he did not know who to tell. The relationship was a matter of the two people and he could not force anyone. Even if he wants to force the two together, they wouldn’t listen to them. But, if necessary, he didn’t mind doing something to fulfill Feng Xue’s wishes.

There was a resolute gleam in Liu Jin’s gaze. Feng Xue was his dearest friend, he would do anything for Feng Xue’s happiness!

“Are you finished? You can leave when you are done.” Qianhe Liyou was definitely not an easy person to get along with, nor was she a person who allowed others to dictate her own affairs. Her attitude towards Luo Yu, Luo Weiqing, Anhui and the other men in the palace could definitely be called good, but to other inconsequential people, her attitude was not so easygoing!

Liyou’s tone was gloomy and gold, and there seemed to be repulsive disgust in her words. Liu Jin could hear this and he uncontrollably took a step back, avoiding the frigid aura emanating from Qianhe Liyou.

“Liu Jin withdraws!” Liu Jin gritted his teeth before spitting out these three words and then left as if he was fleeing. In his heart, he could help but feel that such a woman was not worthy of Feng Xue. He couldn’t understand why Feng Xue would fall in love with such a moody, cold and cruel woman. If it was hime, it would definitely not be the case. He was more fond of those with wit and amiability, much like….

Liu Jin’s brief appearance had not influenced Liyou’s mood. There were many different kinds of men and she had adapted to the transformation of different people around her. They have different personalities, their own pride and stubbornness. Her first experience of life in this world started from getting along with these men.

She didn’t need others to tell her what or who to cherish. She would firmly hold on to the things or people she wanted and her choices were not left to others to decide. For thousands of years, she had already become accustomed to controlling her own destiny.

The dim light of night was dense, and Liyou didn’t go anywhere that night. She just stood quietly under the moonlight, looking at the moon all night….

Emergency reported from the border! When such news came, Qianhe Liyou was discussing the developing trend of war with the ministers. As soon as this news was reported, the entirety of the Imperial court was thrown into an uproar, each with their diverse and muddled opinions and confused state of mind.

“Empress, the Sang Empire has strong soldiers and sturdy horses, the entire nation’s military consists of more than 300,000. This minister believes that peace talks should be valued above any policies or schemes. Otherwise, the century-old foundation of the Qianhe Dynasty could easily be destroyed in one fell swoop!”

Just as the ministers were making a commotion, a minister stepped out of formation to present a memorial. There was not only no worries in her words, but rather a sense of pride!

The ministers were in an uproar again and some of the excited ministers even showed expressions of anger. If it wasn’t for the Empress sitting on the upper seat, it was estimated that there were even those who could curse on the spot.

Qianhe Liyou’s expression did not change but a bloody gleam of light appeared in her eyes. She was very familiar with the backgrounds of this person, the world-renowned Confucian scholar Guan Xiangju. Just based on her merit, she had been conferred the status of a third-ranked official, and her ancestral home was in the Sang Empire!

“How dare you Guan Xiangju, you have the impertinence to talk nonsense at the Imperial court, such a serious crime is to be punished with nine familial exterminations. You still don’t quickly admit your mistake!” Before Liyou could speak, Li Yao was the first to stand up. The indignant expression on her face was undisguised and her words contained an angry rebuking tone that was indignant at Guan Xiangju’s wild talk! This Guan Xiangju had always been proud of being born in the Sang Empire and they had originally disliked her, but as officials of the same dynasty, as long as one was willing to be loyal to the Empress and serve the dynasty, they naturally wouldn’t care about this person’s sectarian bias. But, they hadn’t expected this person to be so ignorant and arrogant. To dare to say such words at such a time, one really doesn’t know if there is something wrong with her brain!

Li Yao was originally very angry, but her fury gradually lessened as she thought about the situation. But, she continued to look at Guan Xiangju with disdain and contempt, as if she was looking at a fool.

“Minister Li must not get angry. How could such an ignoramus be worth making you upset? Empress, this minister is ashamed to have actually recommended such a minister. Asking the Empress for punishment!” Long Xizhao kneeled to receive her punishment. The reason why this Guan Xiangju could even stand here was because she had taken a fancy to the other party’s talents and it is said that in the Sang Empire, she was at odds with many important ministers in the court. But Long Xizhao had not expected that the other was such a fool, not only disappointing her but also making her feel ashamed.

“It is good that you know to be ashamed. Long Xizhao, please rise. Zhen punishes you to closed-door seclusion and ponder over your mistakes for three days.” Through the Anbu Black Op’s intelligence networks, she had long felt that Guan Xiangju was off. Although she was not a spy, she was merely a vile character who coveted glory and splendor, but thought herself as high and pure. Not only was she unable to remain restrained and humble, she was ostentatious and made all sorts of enemies everywhere. If she wasn’t for having some talent, she probably would have died in some unknown alley a long time ago!

“Guan Xiangju, although Zhen encourages the free airing of views, it is not for ignorant people like you to spout nonsense. No matter how strong the Sang Empire is, the Qianhe Dynasty will not lose. What you said today is simply an insult and contempt for the Qianhe Dynasty.  Zhen sees that you don’t necessarily have treasonous intentions, so you are simply to be removed from your official post and driven out of the Qianhe Empire. If you can live well, you will definitely see how Qianhe Dynasty defeats the Sang Empire in the not too distant future. Sang Empire, hmph, how can defeated generals still act bravely!”

“Your Majesty,  for what reason are you punishing me? What I said is the truth, comparing the military strength between the two countries, there is no doubt that the strength of the Sang Empire, you…..”

“Shut up, no matter how strong the Sang Empire is, Qianhe Dynasty will not lose. Someone come, drag Guan Xiangju away.” Liyou’s cold eyes held a trace of disgust. She didn’t hate what Guan Xiangju said about winning or losing, but she hated Guan Xuanju’s ignorance and inability to curb one’s stupidity.  If it was a commoner, then that was that, but the other party was indeed a third-rank official, which really made her angry. It is no wonder that she even punished Long Xizhao to reflect upon her mistakes behind closed doors.

The palace guards took Guan Xuanju away and the ministers stood a little frightened because of the Empress’ rare show of anger, not even daring to breathe loudly.

“News of an emergency at the border has caused you all to become a mess. See for yourself, what you have become. This truly makes zhen disappointed. Heed zhen’s order, I will personally take part in an expedition myself and the political affairs of the Imperial court are to be temporarily jointly managed by Li Yao and Long Zixhao. And, as for the rest of you, you are ordered by zhen to return to your homes and reflect for three days. You are Qianhe Dynasty’s ministers and your words and deeds represent the Qianhe Dynasty. If anyone commits such a rude and shameful thing again, don’t blame me for punishing them severely!”

The border was in a state of emergency, hmph, she wanted to see for herself, just how powerful this opponent is, to have resulted in such an urgent border report!
