Once the sun had set, and it was time for dinner, something unexpected happened, though. They were about to start eating when an unexpected visitor suddenly showed up.

"Ohhh~." The wolves looked at the male human with the slightly unkempt look to him with a surprised expression.
"Hmm...?" Sophia finally turned around, and their eyes met. "E-Eh...?"
"Long time no see, huh?" He smiled at her.
"Feels like an eternity, yeah. It was just a couple of weeks ago, though, wasn't it?"
"Uhh..." Maya looked extremely confused. "Do you know this sloppy-looking human? Sophia... Who is this weird guy? He looks extremely unreliable and sketchy, dangerous, even! I doubt he's anyone that should be around you!"
"Pfft!" Fen, Aura, and especially Sophia were trying their best to hold their laughter in. The three were failing hard, though.
"What...? She glanced at the group.
"Wow, what a rude cat. Is she really the one, Sophia?"
"Sure is."
"You know me...?" Maya stared at the visitor.
"Everything there is to know~."
"Creepy!" She looked grossed out. "S-Sophia, this guy is bad news! I think he's a stalker!"
"Ha... I-I know he is one." The tiger couldn't stop smiling.
"S-Seriously?! People always say you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but there always are exceptions, huh? He's as bad, if not worse, as he looks, huh?! What a creep!"
"Ahaha!" The wolves couldn't hold it in anymore. "You're the best, Maya."
"P-Perfect... I love you even more now..." Sophia felt the same.
"Huh?" She didn't get their reaction. "I don't approve of you meeting him, Sophia! Who is he, anyway?!"
"This is going to be great~." Fen had a great time.
"I really don't think you want to know now, Maya..." She could already see what was about to happen.
"I absolutely do!"
"Fine. Well, I'm with Fenny, this is going to be a lot of fun! Well, Maya, though he really is a creep, he's also very important to me. He did a lot of great things to, and for me."
"Aww." The creep was touched.
"He also did a lot of messed-up stuff, too, though."
"A-Ah." He turned silent again.
"Anyway," The tiger ignored him. "Maya, this is Canir, or the overseer. Canir, Maya, but you know her already."
"Sure do. Nice to meet you in person, though." The overseer lightly greeted the already petrified cat.
"E-Eh?" It was all she could get out.
"Fen, Aura, nice to see you again, too."
"Absolutely." Fen looked at him. "It's been way too long. I missed having a drink with you every now and then."
"Sorry, I was pretty, let's say... busy."
"It's okay." He wasn't angry.
"What brings you here?" The female wolf was also surprised.
"Sophia asked me to visit everyone the last time we met, and I thought, why not? It could be fun, after all."
"Really?" The blonde was surprised it happened so soon.
"Partially." Canir's voice suddenly turned much more serious. "There are some things we need to talk about later."
"I don't like the sound of that." Sophia had a bad feeling. The wolves also looked concerned after hearing this. Maya was still the same, though. Completely petrified, that is.

He also loudly made a note not to get between a tiger and her meat again, which caused him to almost be punched again. Him trying to do a few wordplays and innuendos with the word meat and how much Sophia's into it, didn't help his case, either.
"E-Err..." Maya had finished restarting after a while and was currently hiding behind the big body of Fen. "l-l... I'm so very deeply sh-sorry about what I said!" She bit her tongue in the middle of her sentence.
"Your cat sure is adorable." The overseer faced Sophia instead.
"The cutest!" She sounded very proud. "Maya, there's no need to hide yourself, you know?" The tiger was trying not to laugh again.
"O-Of course there is! I deeply offended the highest g-god of this world!"
"I'm the overseer, not a god. People of this word chose to worship me on their own for some weird reason."
"Which effectively makes you, their god. Just give it up already." Fen retorted to his claim.
"Urgh..." Canir hung his head. "I just wanted to have some entertainment..."
"Don't worry," Sophia put a hand on his shoulder and showed him a great smile. "I don't worship you~."
"Me, neither." The wolves felt the same.
"I gave this stupid tiger way too much sass when bringing her here..."
"I would actually like to get some more of it!" She disagreed. "I got bullied a lot today!"
"Good." His expression brightened up again.
"Hey!" Sophia didn't like that reaction.
"Hehe." The wolves and Canir had a good chuckle.
"Idiots..." The blonde hadn't.
"H-How... How can you all talk with him so c-casually?!" Maya was still hiding behind the wolf with her tail all puffed-up because she couldn't deal with the situation. "I-I don't worship anyone, either... b-but he's still the Canir, you know?!"
"So...?" Sophia, Fen, and Aura only tilled their heads. For extra effect, it was even in the same direction and angle.
"Y-You!"
"You don't have to worry about this, my dear cat." He looked straight at her. "I enjoy this kind of unhinged conversation much more. Being all stiff is super tiring. I actually went as far as taking this into consideration when boosting Sophia to make sure she's casual with me. I, uhh... might've overdone it a bit, though..."

"I can see that."
"Ehehe." Sophia let out a chuckle before facing Maya. "See? You're currently the only one bothering the g-great Canir because you're treating him as something special." She was unable to say that with a serious face.
"A-Ah!" She froze up again.
"Why do you want to have your sass boosted again...?" The overseer really couldn't see the need.
"You can never have enough of that~."
"B-But even so... I-I still heavily insulted you earlier..." Maya couldn't get over it so quickly.
"You only said the truth, though?" Sophia didn't see the problem.

"Uhh..." Maya had seen Sophia transforming into a different person before, but it took her a lot of effort. It seemingly being as easy as breathing for Canir was something else. "I-I see... S-Still, I'm sorry. I shouldn't insult someone without knowing them..."

"Everyone needs a hobby." He didn't correct her.
"Then stop making my Maya apologize!"
"I never did, though?!" He found her to be unreasonable. "She's the one who can't calm down."

SpoilerI started writing this story long before posting the first chapter here in April. I’ve always liked reading isekai/fantasy stuff, but most of them have a male protagonist. (Not interested in that.) Just as often, they’re a gotta catch them all harem. (Not interested in that, either.) Even if they have a female protagonist, they usually haven’t actually because it’s a GB story.
There’s nothing wrong with that, but I just don’t overly enjoy it. Especially if they keep insisting on being a man inside (that's totally alright, don’t get me wrong there), while acting more girly than actual girls in the same story, but also not telling their love interest(s) they’re a man inside. If you want your mc to be a girl, then let them be a girl… They don’t have to have the mind of a man to be interested in sex or be pervy in general. Girls are just as good at that. If not better. In my eyes, if they want to be male on the inside for a reason other than that, there has to be more internal conflict. Wanting to go to a better place/have a better life in an environment/body you're more comfortable with is also valid, but that's rarely addressed in stories, either.
Anyway, that’s just my opinion on these genres. If you enjoy them, that’s great. I'm definitely the issue here. Actually, I've read a ton of them, as well, and with a lot, I had a great time. Okay, often I felt like once the harem started, those stories went downhill almost immediately, but let’s not go there…
I tried making my own story, and so I went with everything I loved. A lesbian female (the always have been/will be kind of) protagonist with no motivation to have a harem in a fantasy world. I’m not completely happy with everything I did. The story’s start is a bit edgy, and the whole human thing definitely didn’t add to the enjoyment, either. I’m much better at writing fluff, after all. The fantasy setting isn’t nearly as prevalent as I had planned for, too. I don’t think that’s a bad thing, though, because I ended up focusing much more on the characters instead.
When I started posting this story, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. I had fun with what I was doing, but I also knew why male mc, harem, or gb are so common. They’re popular. I had no idea where to put my story and was hoping to gather a few people who would enjoy the little story of mine. I guess it was a great thing to start out on Scribblehub because GL as a whole is super well-liked here.
Yep, I was hoping to get a handful of people to read my story and maybe sweeten up their day a bit. Now, look at the statistics…. 2,120+ readers (sure, not all of them are reading it), 22,150 favorite markings, close to 700,000 views, and 238 ratings, of which 199 are 5-Stars. Unbelievable.
We’re closing in on the top 10 girls love stories on this site. This story actually already is #1 in my desired genre mix (GL without harem and gb).
Even on the global ranking, it’s in the top 5 or better when it comes to weekly/monthly activity and favorites. Top 15 when it comes to overall popularity, as well! Whenever I post a chapter, the story ends up at the top of the daily activity ranking. You all sure are a chatty bunch in the chapters, and I love that~.
Some of you also talked me into starting a Patreon page, and I ended up making 1750€/2000$ in like half a year. Insane. Thanks to that, we all got to enjoy a ton of illustrations because I used ALL of that to commission art (500$ worth of illustrations are currently still in the making. January will be a good month~). For the next year, I also plan to have more illustrations of the girls just being flirty with each other that are somewhat cheaper to have a goodie at the end of a chapter every now and then. Fancy illustrations for specific events will still be a thing, though.

There will be at least three new permanent characters, and I love all of them. The first of them just started appearing in my backlog chapters, and I’m having a great time with her. I think her visuals are great, too. I started designing her a month ago, and I already got some color drafts from an artist which I played around with for days already to make her perfect in my eyes. It’ll take many months before she shows up, but I already put more work into her visuals than the other characters combined. Not sure if she will be as striking as Ari with her incredible black hair, but the new one has a lot going on for her, as well. For another character, I don’t even know when she’s going to show up yet, but I still started working on her design already.
I’ve hinted at it already, but it’s slowly getting cold (fall/winter) in the world. Sophia and Maya are textbook cats, so it’s obvious what will happen with them. Once the current arc thingy is over, it’ll get highly comfy/homely in the capital together with their two dogs, err wolves... and their other cat, err... tiger, and jaguar friends. It’ll take quite a long time, but it will get warm again. Once that happens, we’ll go and explore the world some more, only with even more friends and companions than before.

Even on the global ranking, it’s in the top 5 or better when it comes to weekly/monthly activity and favorites. Top 15 when it comes to overall popularity, as well! Whenever I post a chapter, the story ends up at the top of the daily activity ranking. You all sure are a chatty bunch in the chapters, and I love that~.
Some of you also talked me into starting a Patreon page, and I ended up making 1750€/2000$ in like half a year. Insane. Thanks to that, we all got to enjoy a ton of illustrations because I used ALL of that to commission art (500$ worth of illustrations are currently still in the making. January will be a good month~). For the next year, I also plan to have more illustrations of the girls just being flirty with each other that are somewhat cheaper to have a goodie at the end of a chapter every now and then. Fancy illustrations for specific events will still be a thing, though.
A GIGANTIC thank you to all the supporters there. Everyone else, feel free to join if you want even more art~. Only if you have money to spare and nothing else to do with it, though. Don’t spend money on a story if you have a better use for it! Also, wait for the next month/year to actually start before joining!
In any case, thanks for supporting the story in whatever way you did. If you enjoyed reading even a bit of it, that makes me extremely happy. I hope 2022 will continue in a similar way~! I think it'll be good.
(I’m talking about the story, not what is still going on in the real world, because that really could use some change already…)
There will be at least three new permanent characters, and I love all of them. The first of them just started appearing in my backlog chapters, and I’m having a great time with her. I think her visuals are great, too. I started designing her a month ago, and I already got some color drafts from an artist which I played around with for days already to make her perfect in my eyes. It’ll take many months before she shows up, but I already put more work into her visuals than the other characters combined. Not sure if she will be as striking as Ari with her incredible black hair, but the new one has a lot going on for her, as well. For another character, I don’t even know when she’s going to show up yet, but I still started working on her design already.
I’ve hinted at it already, but it’s slowly getting cold (fall/winter) in the world. Sophia and Maya are textbook cats, so it’s obvious what will happen with them. Once the current arc thingy is over, it’ll get highly comfy/homely in the capital together with their two dogs, err wolves... and their other cat, err... tiger, and jaguar friends. It’ll take quite a long time, but it will get warm again. Once that happens, we’ll go and explore the world some more, only with even more friends and companions than before.
