Chapter 229: Morning Call

After feeling the morning sun kissing her skin, she scratched her nose and blinked her eyes before fully opening them.

This is the reason why she likes that her bed is next to a window where the light can peek through her curtains and bathe her skin in the morning light.  Stretching her arms over her head, she glanced at her nightstand where she left her phone. Next to her alarm clock, showing the time eight minutes after six.

She slept late and woke up early. Her body must be adjusting to the different timezone and the new surroundings.

She pushed herself up and leaned on the headboard, still glancing at her phone. She couldn't gather the courage to check it. She's scared that Noah didn't send a message. She bit her lower lip and clenched the blanket closer to her body.

'What if Noah didn't send a message?'

'Don't be stupid. Instead of overthinking, just pick up your phone and check!'

She heaved a deep sigh and stretched her hand to pick up her phone. She momentarily closed her eyes, trying to calm her nerves, and opened her phone at the same time that she opened her eyes.

A relieved sigh audibly escaped her mouth, seeing five new messages from Noah. She scooted on the bed, pushing her blanket to her waist, and opened the new messages from Noah.

[Hey, baby. Sorry. Got busy. Missed your message.]

[Glad that you like the room. If you need anything you can ask Markus. I hate his face but he'll help.]

[Ask him only if it's an emergency. Also, can you not have his face in any of your photo updates?]

Jess giggled at that message. She could easily imagine Noah pouting when he typed that message.

[I hope you send more photos in the future. I miss you so much. I want to call you but it was already late on your end. Don't want to disturb your rest. I love you!]

[Call me anytime once you wake up. I truly miss you!]

Biting her lower lip, Jess read the last message once again. She checked the time it was just thirty-five minutes past six in the morning. Noah at this time is probably still in the office.

She took a deep breath and called him. She was thinking that she will let the call ring for just five rings, if he doesn't answer, it means he's busy. She can just send him a photo update.

However, Jess flinched when on the third ring, Noah answered her call.

"Hey beautiful," he grinned. He had his video opened and she saw a pop-up message that he was requesting for her to open her video.

Jess, still in her pajamas and in bed, forgot she just woke up when she saw his smiling face. She allowed the video request and her phone opened its camera. But it was the back camera that was on. The image of her legs, covered in a blanket, was the one that was shown on her phone camera and not her face.

She laughed when Noah creased his eyebrows and clicked his tongue. "I would accept a video of your legs if they aren't covered in a blanket."

Jess, still giggling, opened the front camera of her phone.

"Ah, fuck! Baby, I miss you," he rubbed his face when Jess' camera showed her face. She was still in bed, messy hair, wearing one of his old college club t-shirts. Watching her grinning face on the small screen of his phone, made him frustrated. He wanted to have her inside his arms.

"Good morning," she grinned. "Are you still at work?"

She knew Noah was still at work. She can see the familiar surroundings of his office. It just happened that she couldn't think of any topic to talk to Noah about. She never had a boy that she called in the past. She never gave any attention to her train of suitors when she was young.

They would send presents to their house and after a while, they would stop pursuing her. She learned from her nanny that her father would meet the boy outside her school and threatened those poor hormone-induced teenagers.

Back then, she didn't care. None of those boys that would send her gifts, write her love letters and poems, took her interest. Her face was buried in books and didn't spare them a glance.

"It's a good morning to you. Here it's good evening," he chuckled. He couldn't get enough of Jess's face. And his longing for her just overflowed. "I wish I'm in that bed with you right now."

Jess cockily, feeling naughty, tilted her head to the side and smiled, "Too bad, Tiefenbacher. This bed is big enough for the two of us."

"Fuck, Jess. Don't tempt me. I'm already having a hard time controlling myself. Don't make me call the hangar to fuel the plane. I have a pilot on standby twenty-four seven. Or if he's not available I can fly that damn plane, just say the words."

"You can fly a plane?" She was surprised to know that Noah can fly an aircraft.

"Baby, I just fly that plane the same way I can fly you," his grin turned malicious.

"Shut up! You are at work and Antonio can probably hear you," she blushed with the thought that Antonio can overhear Noah with his dirty jokes.

"I pay him enough to overhear everything I say and won't repeat any words that he heard, even with a gun pointed at his head."

"Probably," she bit her lower lip. "But, it would be too awkward to talk to him and know that he heard all of your inappropriate jokes!"

"Miss Zimmerman, you don't have to talk to Antonio. I would tell him not to even look at you," he said in all seriousness that made Jess giggled.

"The lawyers are here." Jess heard Antonio's voice in the background.

"You go back to work now," she smiled at him cheerfully, an opposite of Noah's expression. He was glaring at Antonio, as he disrupted his phone call with Jess.

"Bye, baby. Have a good day."

Feeling extra naughty, Jessica put the phone right in front of her face and kissed Noah. Before Noah could react, she hung up the phone.
