Chapter 19






I lay down on my bed after changing back to my pj. I can feel how tired my body was. I really should get some rest now.

I closed my eyes but the scene about what happened to me and Luke flashed in me.

I should go and apologize to him, right? Should I tell him the truth or should I make something up?

I sat down and hugged the pillow to my chest, thinking of what I should do. Luke is my brother and someone I care for, if I go now and explain things to him, he would understand, right?

I went out of my bed and took a sweater to wear it on top since I was wearing a sleeveless dress.

It was a good thing that Luke's room was not that far from mine.

I knocked twice and waited for him to open the door.

When he did, I could see how surprise he was. He was wearing a plain white polo shirt and black pants. "Violet--Ah, I mean, Lady--

"Hold it." I stopped him before he'll start talking politely to me. "I want to talk with you."

He moved aside and I entered. I heard him close the door after I did.

I turned to face him before I gave him a bow. "I'm sorry for what happened earlier, brother.. I didn't mean any of those words, it was not me who said those words!"

It was quiet, I didn't heard anything from him. I straighten my back and looked at him.

I couldn't describe how his expression was right now since he doesn't have one. "What do you mean?"

I sighed. "Earlier, I was possessed by an evil spirit. Prince Alyn helped me out, he can actually see bad spirits because of his affinity for light. This was not the first time that the spirit tried controlling my body."

I started telling him the incident with Alyn last time.

If there was someone I can put my whole trust in, it would be Luke that's why I didn't hesitated telling him what happened.

"Prince Alyn believed that I must have touched a cursed object that's why the spirit of that object keeps on trying to possess my body. The only thing that can stop it is by destroying the cursed object from where it came from."

I cannot tell him that it was actually Violet's real self. If I do, I will still have to explain how I'm not from this world.

I heard him sigh. "So that's why you were not yourself earlier. I can identify a cursed object because of my affinity for darkness, I will help you find it, Violet."

I was relieved upon hearing that he understands, if Luke started distancing himself from me, I would really be hurt. I don't care if he's a playboy or not but I had a hard time making him the perfect brother for me you know! Game's Luke is too polite to Violet even if he shows her respect. Although Luke's brother figure is the best so I won't care for other things!

"I just came here to clear this up so, I'll return to my room now." I told him with a smile. "Thank you for listening, good night, brother."

I walked pass him but was stopped when he grabbed my wrist. "Wait. I didn't said that you can leave yet."

I pouted and turned to him. "But I'm so sleepy! I had a hard time sleeping earlier because of this but now it is solved, I can have a peaceful sleep!"

I saw a smile appearing on his lips which made him even more charming. "You have to make it up for me you know. I was hurt earlier. I thought you finally fell head over heels with that prince."

I frowned. "As if that's ever going to happen. You know how impossible that is." Although I feel guilty for saying words that hurt him. "What do you want me to do?"

"I was supposed to ask you for a dance earlier." He let go of my wrist and offered his hand to me instead. "Can I have this dance?"

Ugh.. I'm tired you know.

I pouted, "How about the music?" I reasoned out. I just want to go and sleep right now, maybe we can dance tomorrow, right?

I'm not sure whether he was smiling or smirking, I couldn't see his face well since the room was dark and the moonlight that entered through the window was our only source of light.

"How about you sing?"

This guy... When did he started to demand things from me? (=_=)

"I can't sing. I don't have a beautiful voice."

That's true. In my previous life, my voice is just so-so. I didn't have an amazing voice like other gifted people do but I'm still thankful that I am not tone deaf, I sing whenever I'm alone in my apartment. I never tried singing in this world so I don't really know if Violet has an amazing voice or not.

"That's not important, as long as we have music, we can dance." He paused and held my chin, he leaned down to my level since he was so damn tall. "But I would definitely prefer the sound of your mo--" he paused as if he remembers something, "Any sound coming from your mouth would be lovely for me."

I feel my face heating up and my heart was beating fast! Luke's face was too close and his eyes were like captivating me in his world, I could feel his warm breath on my face, the smell of mint was mixed on it. Was this his scent?

I need to snap out!

To help me do that, I pinched his cheeks hard.

"OWw!"

"You idiotic brother! What kind of things are you learning at school?! Your teases became worse! I want my pure and loving brother back!"

His brows were furrowed because of the pain since I contined pinching him hard. "Let go!"

I did and took a step back away from him, I crossed my arms and huffs. "Hmpf. I should tell daddy to transfer you to another school!"

I wonder how many girls have he deceived by his handsome face? I suddenly feel sorry for them. As for making up for them, I shall train my brother and help him become a wonderful gentleman.

He was rubbing his cheeks with both hands and I heard him mumble something which I was not able to understand since his voice was too quiet. After mumbling, I saw how a small pout was formed on his lips.

"Next time I won't go easy on you!" Yes, maybe I should give him a punch or a kick for him to learn. I think being violent would help him learn things fast.

"You're becoming so unladylike as you grow." He sighed.

"Did you say something?" I raised an eyebrow as I looked at him.

Although I heard him say that, I was suddenly reminded of that boss of mine. They started to resemble each other in terms of personality.

I was brought back from my thoughts when I felt arms around my waist. He bent down again and this time buried his face on my neck. "Let your brother hug you like this for a while."

When I heard him whisper that softly, I can feel his warm breath on my neck, it brought a tingling sensation in me.

I actually wanted to at least push his head away from my neck but since I'm his kind sister, I will allow him just this once.

"I missed you, Violet."

I sighed, I guess I'll let him off this time.

I raised my hand and gently stroked his soft hair. "I missed you too.. I have so many things to tell you, you know."

"Me too.. Who wants to go first?"

I feel restless whenever I feel his breath on my skin as he talks.

I breathed out a sigh. "Mine is too long, why don't you go first? We don't keep secrets from each other so tell me everything, okay?"

As much as how hypocrite I sounded since I was keeping my original identify as a secret, I don't want him to start looking at me differently.

I do plan on telling him about my healing abilities and about what happened the previous months.

He went quiet for a while, I waited for him patiently since I thought that maybe a lot of things happened to him while he was at school.

"I'm a Catastrophe rank monster. I ranked up after father and a small match."

Oh. That was not something new for me. I knew he would be at that level once he enter the academy since he'll be seeing father a lot and he'll be taking secret lessons from him.

"Wow.. That's actually amazing, I'm so proud of you, brother."

He straightened his back and pulled me close to his chest this time. "Hn.. But ever since I ranked up.. I've started craving for something."

I know this, it was shown in his route. Ever since he achieved Catastrophe level, he started craving for flesh and blood.

He has tried to control his desire for humans as much as possible and would eat animal meat and drinking their blood instead.

Luke never told anyone about this. The MC caught him eating a bird he caught one time and as you can guess, the MC was horrified.

But because of Luke's strong magic, he didn't let her leave. Of course he didn't do anything like eating her, he just wanted her to keep it a secret and in exchange for that, the MC wanted to know the truth from him.

I feel happy because Luke told me this himself, it shows how close we were and how much he values and trust me as his sister.

"Craving? Are you perhaps hungry? Do you want to have some midnight snack?" I raised my head and smiled.

I saw the pain in his eyes as he tried to return my smile. He touched my cheek with his big rough hand. "I'm afraid I might have to distance myself from you, Violet."

The smile on my face disappeared, as much as I already know why, I couldn't help but be hurt upon thinking that he'll stop being close to me. He's my biggest support in this world, my strongest pillar.

"What do you mean?"

He didn't said anything for a while. I know how hard it is for him to tell me how he craves for human flesh and blood since he thinks that I might start becoming scared of him.

After who knows how long, he finally opened his mouth. "As I grow stronger, my desire for flesh and blood becomes stronger.. I need to stop approaching you since I don't want to hurt you. I'm afraid that one day, I won't be able to control myself from.. eating you."

I know that he's worried about me, but if he leaves me, I don't know if I can handle it.

I have trust issues, yes. But Luke and father are the first people who I have given my full trust.

Although I can say that my closeness with Luke may not be the same with my father.

I smiled and I saw how surprised Luke's face went when he saw me smile. "It's okay. I told you, Luke is still Luke even if you are not a human."

"Do you understand what I'm saying right now? I'm saying that I might lose control and eat you." Luke said as a frown came on his face.

I nodded. "Yes. I do. That's why it's okay. I'm not afraid of you because even if you're labeled a monster, you are more human than human can ever be."

I raised my hands and touched his cheek. "That's why it's okay.. to take a bite if you can't control your hunger anymore.. You are the most precious family I have, it's okay, Luke.. it's okay to take a bite, I won't mind."
