It only took a moment.

The black-haired young man disappeared from the arms of the Lord of the Gate, and everything in front of Zong Yan’s eyes abruptly changed.

First the dark khaki trench coat before him vanished, and then countless streams of multi-colored light suddenly appeared, obscuring everything else in sight.

For a moment he was stunned. He instinctively tried to grab the evil god’s trench coat, but a moment after his fingers opened, all he caught was a handful of air.

What was that?!

Zong Yan wanted to speak, but a swirl of colors filled his eyes, making it impossible for him to see what was happening around him.

“For the glory of the Sun God!”

In the midst of his confusion, he suddenly heard a crowd of distant voices calling in his ears.

The Sun God?

Zong Yan was stunned, and then began to wonder again.

He’d retrieved the authority of the Dreamlands. They were supposed to call him the Lord of the Dreamlands, right? Didn’t all those gods and creatures at the altar address him as Your Majesty? Why were they suddenly hailing him as the Sun God?

Zong Yan was puzzled inside, so he instinctively took a few steps forward.

It felt like he’d gone through a thin membrane, passing from one enclosed space to another, like a swallow breaking free from the wind’s embrace and falling through the air.

At his feet was the turquoise sea. In the distance, a magnificent sacred mountain and a tall, majestic Greek-style temple rose above the clouds.

A fleet of ships was sailing on the sea. On the ships, a crowd of people were looking up at him, kneeling down in a panic and bowing in worship.

Sunlight burst out behind him. Zong Yan felt a majestic energy in his body, and it was an energy he recognized.

When he marshalled his thoughts, two bright wheels of radiant sunlight emerged beneath his feet, lifting the master of light high into the air.

This energy was all too familiar to Zong Yan, so when he looked down and saw the long blond hair scattered on his shoulders, the short-sleeved Greek-style robe, the lyre in his hand, and the divine birds around him, everything grew more clear.

This was obviously what he looked like after using the card of the Sun God!

“Elder brother—!”

While Zong Yan was trying to grasp all this, a voice called out to him from the horizon.

The goddess of the crescent moon, who trod the bright wheel of the moon, had a hunting bow and arrow in her hand. Her bound silver hair was as bright as moonlight, in sharp contrast to Zong Yan’s golden hair.

Her features were firm and deep. She was obviously a woman, but the heroic aura of her face had no trace of weakness.

A bright deer woven from moonlight leaped happily behind the goddess. As it jumped, it left bands and ripples of silver in the air, like ribbons of translucent jade.

Zong Yan, inwardly: “…”

He immediately realized that he seemed to be the person she’d called “brother”.

Wait, what’s with the sudden plot development straight out of a harem novel? A sister who fell from the sky?

“Brother, Greece and Troy have gone to war.”

Artemis didn’t notice anything unusual about her brother, so she spoke as she always did.

She looked at the laurel crown on Zong Yan’s head, hesitated a little, then pursed her lips.

The Sun God was levitating on the sun wheel in the air. His eyes were as blue as the sky, so clear it seemed possible to see straight through them.

Divine birds circled around him. Many of the armies on the ground and ships on the Mediterranean saw the two gods. They shouted their names and saluted them in worship.

“Most high and glorious Apollo, Sun God, grant us victory!”

The walls of Troy stood tall in the distance, and the mighty Trojan army watched from the battlements.

Zong Yan quickly searched the few memories he had of his era and confirmed this was probably when Greece had gone to war with Troy.

The war lasted ten years. Even for gods, it was a rather long and protracted fight.

Zong Yan’s thoughts kept shifting.

How had he suddenly activated the persona of the Sun God and shown up in the middle of the Trojan War?

“Let’s go.” Although Zong Yan was full of questions, his face was calm and unmoved. He flew with Artemis to the forefront of the Greek army.

Along the way, Zong Yan began to speculate.

A moment ago, it felt like he’d crossed through a membrane. It was similar to the feeling when Yog had taken him through time and space.

Had he somehow penetrated space-time and gone to another world? What else would explain why his body had suddenly changed?

Zong Yan stretched out his fingers. The band of light that wrapped around his hand formed a slit in the air. From inside it, he drew a card.

He took out the card of the Sun God, but the face of the card was blank. The image of Apollo, which should have been on the card, was missing.

When Zong Yan tried to crush it, the card didn’t respond.

This demonstrated that as far as the card was concerned, Zong Yan had already equipped the “Apollo” persona.

Could this be similar to when he’d become Cthulhu’s half-self, crossed the timeline, and gotten a new identity?

But Artemis seemed completely familiar with this “Apollo”. Clearly this wasn’t a brand new identity…. Which meant he was now running around in the body of a pre-existing Sun God?!

While Zong Yan pondered this, his feet continued to follow Artemis.

The crescent moon and the disc of the sun crossed the sky, and the formidable armies stopped driving forward and gazed up at the radiance of the gods.

“Behold the glory of Apollo and Artemis!”

The Greek armies cheered, raising their weapons to the sky and brandishing them at the walls of Troy.

In the heart of the city of Troy, inside a temple, a princess folded her hands and knelt in prayer.

Her name was Cassandra, a priestess of the Temple of the Sun. But this time, the Sun God Apollo had chosen to stand on the side of Greece. All she could do was kneel here helplessly and pray, hoping that her country would survive the attack of the Greek army which was aided by the gods.

“O glorious Sun God!”

“Our glory lies here! May the Divine Apollo bless the Greeks!”

“Glory to the gods of Greece forever!”

In the midst of the cheers, the goddess of the crescent moon was the first to come to a halt in the sky. Her silver gown and long tresses of the same color mingled together, and the pale light danced like molten drops of silver.

With a soft cry, she drew the bow of moonlight in her hand.

All the moonlight in the sky gathered on her bow string, weaving itself into a sharp arrow of light.

Artemis slightly bent her knee, and without even bothering to aim, she lightly shot the arrow into the air.

“Just watch, I’m sure I’ll beat my brother this time.”

The goddess of the crescent moon turned her head and gave Zong Yan a slightly smug smile.

Before them, the flying arrow shattered into thousands of tiny silver specks. Every single one of them fell to earth with unerring accuracy, blooming into demonic blossoms of blood one after another.

Artemis didn’t show the slightest trace of alarm. The famous goddess didn’t spare a glance for the humans she’d killed. She might have been slaughtering poultry.

Zong Yan frowned.

He remembered the glorious era of the gods from the history textbook issued by MU. In that period, the Elder Gods ruled Earth after sealing the Great Old Ones. The Elder Gods had created humans, then wantonly killed them, and farmed them as a source of faith.

Many of the Elder Gods weren’t kind to human beings. Artemis, although ranked among the nine major gods of Olympus, was quite reckless towards them. None of the Greek Gods cared that much about humans.

Zong Yan was now sure of one thing.

This was by no means as simple as activating a persona card.

A Sun God already existed in this world. Before Zong Yan arrived, Apollo, the Sun God, was faithfully following the trajectory of his fate.

Zong Yan looked down at the Temple of the Sun in the distance. He could hear the words of the Trojan princess’ prayer.

According to Greek mythology, Princess Cassandra of Troy would eventually become Apollo’s lover and receive the ability to foretell the future.

“Elder brother?”

Artemis didn’t receive a response and saw that his face didn’t look right. She began to feel confused.

“Sorry, I’m not feeling well.”

Zong Yan needed time to think. He sketched a nod towards the goddess of the crescent moon, then, without looking back, stepped on the disc of the sun and flew to the other side of the sea.

“Hey—” Artemis widened her eyes and stared incredulously at Apollo’s distant figure.

But Zong Yan didn’t care. He was a mess inside.

Apollo, clad in light, flew over the valleys and meadows. Finally he crossed the wilderness and ran along the edge of a dense forest, trying to reach the legendary end of the sea.

This wasn’t his world, nor was this his body.

He wanted to go back to his own world, the world where he belonged.

“O handsome god, why do you grieve? Why does your handsome face look so sad and desperate?”

The water nymphs gathered by the shore of the Aegean Sea whispered to each other, and some of them were bold enough to speak to him. They were fascinated by the profound and beautiful face of the Sun God, and couldn’t help but feel jealous of Daphne, the laurel goddess he favored.

But Zong Yan didn’t have the slightest intention of paying them attention. Even the divine birds jeered at them.

The Sun God continued heading towards the west and eventually landed on a beach at the end of the world.

Zong Yan cut a long slit in the air with his hand, revealing the flowing, multi-colored light inside. Then he took a deep breath.

The information that came back from the Dreamlands told him he was in a different dimension of space-time.

‘But then how can I go back?’

He wondered with distress, and his eyes were tinged with sadness.

At that moment, the Silver Key that was hanging quietly on his chest suddenly lit up. Like a spark of light, it pointed to a specific point in space.

The string of characters engraved with the true name of the evil god glowed slightly, shimmering like gilt.

‘No matter where you are, I will find you.’

What the Lord of the Gate hadn’t told him was—

Wherever you are, my key will guide you to the right path and bring you back to me.

The author has something to say:

Zong Yan hasn’t yet discovered that this is a journey through time and space, a journey against the current _(:з」∠)_
