Cthulhu had no idea how many years he had existed.

Time was meaningless for an evil god. The moment he was born, he miraculously possessed all the knowledge he needed.

Other intelligent creatures would find it difficult to comprehend the life of an evil god. After all, evil gods were immortal and indestructible. They had no material needs. A fish couldn’t live without water, and a human couldn’t live without air, but an evil god didn’t need anything.

Only if Azathoth, the Lord of the Universe, awakened and decided to destroy the universe could an evil god’s existence be erased.

Cthulhu was born on the binary star Xoth. His immediate family consisted of his father god who created him by mitosis—Yog-Sothoth.

Of course, Cthulhu wasn’t born alone. There was also his younger brother—Hastur.

Actually, in terms of kinship, Cthulhu was born a little later. According to human familial relationships, Cthulhu was technically the didi, and Hastur was his gege.

Regrettably, evil gods aren’t especially sociable. The resources on the binary star Xoth were limited, which meant the only evil gods who lived there were the pair of brother gods. The evil gods in the neighborhood assumed the brothers were backed by the Lord of Time and Space and kept their distance.

But Yog-Sothoth wasn’t exactly a devoted father god.

Just like Azathoth, Yog-Sothoth believed in hands-off parenting. Anyway, you guys have already been born, so just go ahead and play by yourselves. You’re evil gods. Shouldn’t you be independent?

When Azathoth produced his three kids, he didn’t even give them a glance. He went straight to sleep. Yog-Sothoth perfectly inherited the parenting style of his Father God. After making two cubs, he shrugged his shoulders and left. On the whole, he was an irresponsible scum father god.

The binary star Xoth, a massive solar system, suffered from the ongoing battle between Cthulhu and Hastur every day.

""

It couldn’t be helped. The moment an evil god was born, their desire to fight for dominance was intense. Twins happened to be rare among evil gods. One might think the relationship between parent and child would be closer, but in fact they were usually as cold and aloof as Yog.

In this case, the relationship between the twins became heated.

Moreover, Cthulhu was an evil god who represented the attribute of water, while Hastur represented the attribute of wind. Their natures were fundamentally incompatible. Whenever they were in the same galaxy, they could feel each other’s repulsive aura. Therefore, the conflict between them had multiple causes, some of them innate. Every day the two fought each other on Xoth, and eventually became mortal enemies.

They were both Great Old Ones, but there wasn’t much water on Xoth, which meant Cthulhu was at a disadvantage.

For an evil god, losing a fight was just a matter of dropping a few tentacles, but did that mean losing didn’t matter? Of course not! It was about self-respect!!!

And because of their limited environment, the evil gods felt stifled.

So Cthulhu quietly made plans to move somewhere else and establish some kind of base. When the time was right, he could catch Hastur off guard.

Cthulhu initially enjoyed enormous success. He created the race of Deep Ones to be his subordinates. He also kept an eye out for planets in the universe with a high proportion of water, intending to develop one of them into his stronghold.

But the two evil gods were twins created by mitosis, and it was impossible for Cthulhu to conceal all this from Hastur.

In fact, in terms of strength, Cthulhu was more powerful than Hastur. Hastur’s strong points lay in scheming and making plans. He was more of an intellectual. But the terrain on Xoth tended to favor him, so he had the upper hand.

Cthulhu made the first move. He departed Xoth with his clans and subordinate gods, and Dagon took most of the Deep Ones to Earth.

The Deep Ones who arrived on Earth enslaved the original inhabitants, the shoggoths, and forced them to build the magnificent and unholy underwater city of R’lyeh.

Incidentally, Cthulhu drew up the plans for R’lyeh himself. Evil gods were omnipotent, and his father was the all-knowing Yog-Sothoth. Both of the twins had a high level of artistic appreciation. One liked to play music while killing people in their dreams, while the other liked nothing better than to listen to opera, and even instructed his sect to rehearse a specific work.

At any rate, nothing could be hidden from Hastur.

In fact, Cthulhu hadn’t initially planned to build a city. It was Hastur’s clan members who first came up with the idea of building a place called Carcosa. Cthulhu only followed his example.

However, Cthulhu had more subordinates, including a lot of enslaved indigenous creatures from Earth. As a result, the construction of R’lyeh was completed faster than Carcosa.

During their fight, it was clear that both of the evil gods were serious.

Dark green tentacles stretched out to cover the sky, strangling the nearest star to Xoth until it was completely extinguished.

Eventually, this part of the galaxy fell into eternal darkness.

The other evil god, clad in a ragged yellow robe, didn’t show any hint of weakness. Beneath his robes was a mass of indescribably huge, dark tentacles which blocked out half of the sky.

Both evil gods revealed their true bodies in unison.

How terrible was the true body of an evil god?

They were horrific enough that the spreading savagery of their battle destroyed all life in this galaxy. The force of every tentacle strike reached the core of the planet they were on, sending streams of fiery red lava gushing out.

Tides rose and fell from the gravitational pull of their bodies. Dirt and rock were swept up by the storm, and the starry sky was shredded by their attacks, leaving a distorted black scar, behind which could vaguely be seen disorder and chaos.

They were evenly matched, and neither side held back.

After a severed tentacle broke away from an evil god’s body, it dissolved into noxious, poisonous pollutants, which fell across the galaxy like a rain of black mud. The entire galaxy was contaminated.

‘Oh? So enthusiastic today?’

Hastur already understood everything. He gave a slight smile and deliberately provoked his brother.

Maybe the victor of this battle had already been decided, but maybe not.

At any rate, after the fight ended, Cthulhu departed the binary star Xoth with his subordinates.

It wasn’t a retreat. Because of the battle between the two evil gods, that entire galaxy was contaminated. The binary star Xoth was now a dead system, full of black holes of varying sizes created by the remnants of the battle between the evil gods.

If Hastur continued to live there, he would have to endure the stench of Cthulhu every day.

Cthulhu was in a cheerful mood. After leaving an incredible mess, he immediately departed.

If he couldn’t have it, he wasn’t going to hand it over in one piece to his most hated rival.

But what Cthulhu wasn’t expecting was that, just after he finished building R’lyeh and forced ninety percent of the Earth’s creatures to bow to him, Hastur arrived on Earth with Carcosa.

The city of Carcosa was different from the R’lyeh of Cthulhu. Hastur inherited some of his father god’s spatial manipulation power, while Cthulhu inherited the ability to enter and manipulate dreams. This meant Hastur was able to store Carcosa in a different sub-dimension. He only needed a small fixed point to maintain an intersection with reality.

Not surprisingly, Cthulhu was furious.

He was supposed to be the king of this castle. He never thought that Hastur, that despicable little worm, would follow him.

It was an open provocation. What evil god could bear it?

So they went to war again.

This time it wasn’t just a fight between Hastur and Cthulhu, but a war between their clans and subordinate gods. Country warred with country.

In the end, something else intervened, and the ultimate result was that both Cthulhu and Hastur were sealed away. One was sealed in R’lyeh while the other was sealed in the Pleiades cluster, in the lake of the city of Carcosa.

To be honest, when evil gods were sealed, the only restriction was that they couldn’t use their true bodies.

What evil god didn’t have a few alt accounts?

Moreover, Cthulhu still had the power to enter dreams. A race of low-level intelligent creatures called “humans” had just appeared on Earth, so Cthulhu’s new hobby was to contact humans with high artistic ability or insight and lure them to join his faith and serve him in R’lyeh. Or better yet, make themselves useful and unseal him.

Paracelsus was one of these people. In order to refine the philosopher’s stone and gain eternal life, he became one of the bewitched humans who accepted the influence and compulsion of Cthulhu.

But there wasn’t much to be said about living such a life. Cthulhu’s days were all the same.

An ant was just an ant. No matter how hard it tried, the enjoyment an ant could bring an evil god was limited.

Cthulhu’s body was sealed in an enormous dark cavern beneath R’lyeh. His torso blocked the entire entrance.

The Lord of R’lyeh gazed at the world with his cold, dark golden eyes. After more time passed, he felt bored, so he decided to take a short rest.

He had a strange dream.

The Lord of R’lyeh could tell the dream wasn’t under his control.

He dreamed of a teenager with a delicate face, similar to his, but with ankle-length, dark green hair like seaweed.

Another ant?

The Lord of R’lyeh frowned, but he couldn’t help but sense a feeling of closeness.

This was a strange emotion for an evil god to feel. Cthulhu had never felt it before, even when facing his father god.

As he was staring in a daze, that incredibly beautiful young man, who wasn’t wearing any clothes, hugged Cthulhu’s tentacles and slowly crawled up to eye level with him.

“Elder brother?”

The teenager blinked his dark golden eyes, exactly like Cthulhu’s. His gaze was filled with open admiration.

It seemed that this strange and undeniable feeling of closeness wasn’t unique to Cthulhu. It was mutual.

The discovery pleased the Lord of R’lyeh.

He clumsily assumed human form and gently planted a kiss on the forehead of his half-self.

“You are my other self. I will not harm you.”

Yes, this was his second self, an incarnation who would never, ever be taken away by that obnoxious guy Hastur.

But a dream is just a dream. The next time the Lord of R’lyeh awakened, the cave was empty and deserted.

There was no one else floating on the surface of the water, nor was there anyone to hug his tentacles and sweetly call him gege. Cthulhu didn’t have a half-self. He was a lone evil god, and like all the other evil gods in the universe, he had no ties, no weaknesses, nothing to restrict his power.

He was alone.

At that moment, Cthulhu sensed the ancient seal had been broken.

That sect of losers finally did something right?

Good, their god would give them a beautiful, eternal dream.

And as for the dream he had before—

The Lord of R’lyeh walked carelessly up to the highest tower in R’lyeh. In his hand was an unending dream, ready to be released.

""

Evil gods have no need of such weaknesses.

The author has something to say:

Bubbles rewrote reality, which means Mr. C doesn’t remember anything

When I saw everyone scolding Mr. C in the comment area, I added an explanation
