Humphrey blasted through the doorway and sent shards of wood from the broken wall scattering onto the open road of the town. Immediately he ran into a group of six monsters just outside and used his area stun, all surrounding foes failing the check and becoming stunned. He then swung his greatsword in a dark arc, striking two of them across the neck. Across the street atop a balcony overlooking the road, three lizardmen held bows and were drawing arrows in preparation to fire down at the Knight.

Sally, holding a skull in her left hand, stepped out into the sunlight. A dark green energy enveloped the skull as it soared from her grasp, eye sockets ablaze with energy as it flew like a rocket - exploding on the middle archer. The creature stumbled back as its scaled skin sizzled from the attack, and four zombies emerged from the ground around the archers, disrupting their shots.

"I could get used to this," she said with a wicked grin across her face.

They were in the middle of the town, with several groups of lizard men wielding swords and halberds advancing from both the left and right among the various houses and buildings. Further past these groups, even more lizard men who hadn't noticed the party's arrival were present and just idly walking about absentmindedly.

Sally held out her hand, casting [Summon Zombies], as Edward swiftly moved to thrust his thin sword into the head of one of the stunned monsters. He moved backward immediately, avoiding any retaliation. Archie and Lucius stayed back in the somewhat shaded area of the broken building, waiting to support when needed.

Sally withdrew another skull from her inventory, flipping around her [Skeleton Key]. She spotted a small group of mace-wielding lizard men approaching from the left. With a pulse of green energy that swirled around her feet, she cast [Living Dead] to further confront the approaching threat.

A surge of energies pulsed through the zombies, and they attacked with even greater fervor against the lizardmen. Sally swiftly dodged to the side, avoiding the downswing of a lizard man's halberd, and stabbed the monster in the thigh with her dagger. She kicked out at her opponent and turned away, pointing her held skull at the floor to cast another [Summon Dead] around herself. While her Constitution and Strength should have been much higher than any normal player of her level, she was now more interested in taking a backseat and observing how her new zombie abilities played out. The cooldown on her new skills was quite high, but helped in providing extra zombies for when she could not summon any more normally.

In fact, as they looked up at the balcony from the building across the street, those who had risen around the three arches had managed to overcome their adversaries with only one loss of their own. The three remaining were attempting to find a way to clamber down from the balcony without dropping and injuring themselves. Sally narrowed her eyes at them and used [Command Dead] to prompt them to go inside the building and work their way down, avoiding the more direct route.

Humphrey seemed to have no issue engaging the additional lizard men in the melee. The clash of metal against metal rang out as he blocked or was struck by their weapons. However, for each blow he took, he cut bloody swathes through the green-scaled monsters. Every so often, the Death Knight would pulse with dark energy as he executed a [Grave Strike] - his sword blazing a bright crimson.

If there was one drawback to hanging back and letting the zombies do the job, it was that Sally wouldn't get to feast on as many brains in not being in the thick of the battle. She swerved among her summoned friends and assisted them, trading blows with one of the approaching lizardmen. While the new zombies were of a higher level, they still weren't especially combat proficient, relying on greater numbers and their damage resistance to wear down their foes, much like zombies in pop culture.

Her blade found the exposed back of one lizard man who was trying to push away a couple of zombies, and then she devoured its brains. It wasn't the best meal she had ever had, but having been a bit starved of brain matter in the past three days or so, it was a relief. In such dire circumstances, anything would have to do.

Edward cautiously advanced behind her. Much like Sally, he aimed to jump in and finish off any lizardman struggling against the mass of undead. Despite the fact that he would get his share of the experience, whether he contributed or not by being in their party, it seemed he didn't want to be seen as not contributing to the battle.

If only everyone could be so useful, Sally thought. Both Lucius and Archie were still in the office building. Although the cat could be relied upon to bring out some odd skill at opportune times, she had less confidence in the supposedly supportive demon. If anything, he seemed to be doing even less work now after she had chastised him than previously. Perhaps she had been a bit too overeager to admonish him when he did seem like a nice enough chap, for a demon.

There would be time enough for that after the battle. She spun and ducked as the swing of a blade narrowly missed her head. The attack instead embedded into one of the zombies beside her. She barreled into the assailant, stabbing twice in the chest before tripping to the floor over the dead body of one of its comrades, ready to feast on its brains.

She rose from the body and cast [Living Dead] again, the necromantic magic rejuvenating the zombies that had been wounded.

“Fresh meat,” a deep voice yelled out from down the street.

An eyebrow raised across Sally’s blood flecked face as she turned to see who was yelling. Down the left side of the Lizard man town, a much larger monster - albino scales and heavy armor illuminated in the constant barrage of the overhead sun. Quite possibly the boss of the area, she considered. She held up her gore splattered arm to wave at the approaching boss.

“Oh, that meat's not fresh.” The monster now looked disappointed and shrugged at the three bodyguards he had been approaching with. “Half of them don’t even look edible.”

Sally felt offended. She narrowed her eyes and slowly lowered her hand in the wave to grip at her dagger tighter. Not that she wanted to be the next meal for these Monsters, but it sure seemed like an insult more than anything. The assumption then was that they were just going to fight rather than try to make a meal out of her.

“On the other hand, I’m pretty sure I could eat all of you,” she shouted back. With a deep breath she held out the skull, which illuminated the dark green light for shooting across the crowded melee straight towards the boss. One bodyguard with a shield that had a reddish hue to it lept in front of the attack, the blast of green energy screaming as it scoured a dark mark against the defensive item. Zombies began to crawl out from the surrounding ground, but two were felled out of the five before they had even stood to their feet.

The crackle of lightning drew her attention briefly as the smell of burning meat and charred scales struck her senses. Archie was sauntering through the melee near Humphrey, his fur on end and an illuminant yellow glow pulsing around him as arcs of bright lightning flickered from his body and struck the lizardmen near him.

“You all right this end Humphrey? I’m going after the boss.” She rubbed her head as the Death Knight was maneuvering through his combat with expert proficiency. He wasn’t particularly fast, but every movement was carefully considered either to block or to strike out at the lizardman. Some hits he just ignored - his armor was too dense to be injured past the scratch from the attacks.

“Yes,” Humphrey grinned as he replied. As another group of twelve combatants surged forth from his end of the village, he slammed his great sword into the floor and five skeletons rose out from the darkness with swords and shields in their hands.

Sally didn’t bother to ask the two demons how they were doing. One of them she did not trust and the other could come back to life if he died, anyway. They may be members of the Outsiders, but they hadn’t earned last name Danger yet. She dodged her way through another handful of Monsters, occasionally stabbing out with a dagger or eating the brains of those that are already weakened. Eventually, she came face-to-face with the boss and his three bodyguards after they had felled her zombies with little injury themselves.

“Who are you that you feel you may come to our village and slaughter our people?” The albino boss was large and muscular and peered down at her with bright crimson eyes.

“I’m Sally, and I’m Sally,” she smiled. “Who are you?”

“I am Gorax, the Human-Eater.” He flexed his arms wide as if just his title alone deserved some manner of fanfare.

Sally snorted. “Bet I have eaten more humans than you have,” she mimicked a yawn as she finished her sentence.

The boss snarled. “Dead or not, I will add you to my list.” He lept towards her, a spear of swirling blue energy held in his hand. His bodyguard also took the cue to rush towards her as well.

The zombie smiled to herself and hummed a little tune, the sound of dozens of undead feasting amongst the battle behind her like music to her ears.
