The foretelling of destiny for gods was not a laughing matter. Unlike fate which they were immune to, the gods could not overlook the grand scheme of destiny. While the Fate for mortals was not changeable once it's set, its course can be changed. Fate operated like a river that keeps splitting endlessly into separate streams, but once a mortal's life has sailed a particular stream then gods could tell what fate awaited them.

The mortals born in this realm, mainly those who have a soul, are tied to fate, meaning gods can predict their actions and if they want to can change their streams of fate as they wish. They usually use this in order to punish human beings that displeased them, in a way giving people a misfortune after misfortune, making their fate rather bleak. The higher beings, the beings that were either extremely strong or powerful could change their fate. The beings that did not possess or had only a partial soul were not bound by fate. Gods however were in charge of fate-they could control it at will.

Destiny however was something bigger than fate; even gods were not immune to it. However unlike fate that is set in stone depending on which route is chosen, the destiny only has two alternatives. It either happens or it can be prevented. There was a particular destiny that Gods wanted to desperately prevent from realizing.

It was the prophecy of Two Kings. Specifically King of White and King of Black. The prophecy stated that there shall be a time when two great entities shall collide. If the victor is the King of White, then the Gods shall prosper and the world shall be stable. But if the King of Black were to emerge victorious then the world would experience unprecedented change. The gods feared the coming of the King of Black, worried for their own existences and what would happen to the world they so desperately want to keep under their own control.

When a certain god emerged, an elder god read that deity's fate and determined that deity is the King of White. Deity's name was Solaris, the primary Deity of Light.

It had been several millennia since Solaris was told this.

At first Solaris was paranoid, spending years searching for the so called king of Black everywhere, but in the end Solaris realized he did not emerge yet. Yet the reading of Solaris's destiny did not change for years. Solaris kept observing humanity and the world, when someone powerful emerged, Solaris would immediately subjugate him in fear of being defeated by King of Black.

Even though the King of Black did not arrive, Solaris kept suspicions in check. To his peer gods Solaris appeared calm and kind, but in reality Solaris was quiet paranoid. It has gotten so bad to the point that God of Light experimented with humans, making them get stronger and more powerful simply to see if they could pose any threat in the future. In this world each specific power was measured by levels, and sadly most human beings remained below level ten.

The levels could only be applied to humans not to deities for whom such measurements were obsolete. Strangely, human beings start with level 0, and if they reach level 2 or 3, they consider it a great achievement, while those who reached higher like 7 to 10 were considered legendary. Solaris found it rather silly. But of course there were outliers as well. For generations, the ones who bore the title of the Sword Lord were those who surpassed the realm of humanity, the current one was level twenty something, Solaris could not remember.

He has gotten so strong that he could effectively change his fate if he wanted to, yet he still was bound by fate, not outside of it. Solaris observed each Sword Lord of each generation to check if they could pose a threat, but to deity's disappointment, the Sword Lords cherished their duty of protecting humanity, nothing else mattered. This is why Solaris favors to ignore the actions of the Sword Lord despite Sword Lord's overwhelming power, his mentality made him unlikely to be the King of Black.

But Solaris could not stop being paranoid, the deity felt too uneasy with the prospect of being destroyed, for Solaris believed that the King of Black could come at any time to strike a fatal blow.

When not obsessed with his unhealthy paranoia he is actually a decent god, with thousands worshiping him daily.
