DPM Chapter 101-So That’s How It Is
Translated by Snowfall77

Mozun felt at the end of his patience. Saman was beautiful and seductive, eyes filled with enticing charm while exuding a delicious scent. Nevertheless, Mozun had no desire to make union with Saman. Not in any method or way.

Forcefully pushing Saman away, Mozun’s tone was exasperated: “I don’t want to make union with anyone right now. I just want to know who the hell the Saer are!”

Saman didn’t seem to take offense at the rejection, simply smiling again: “No matter, we light elders are meant to be united. You might not be used to it right away, but you’ll learn to like it in the end.”

Facing Saman, Mozun felt the Saer was challenging the utmost limits of his tolerance.

Mozun’s forbearance had never been his strong suit. Even back when he’d been young, during the last days, he hardly would’ve been able to put up with this.

This situation was different though. There were too many questions and the fate of humanity was riding on the answers. Mozun had no choice but to endure.

Still, not wanting to discuss ‘unity’ for another second, Mozun immediately changed the subject: “Tell me the history of the Saer, as well as……Mijia, the one who left the book behind, tell me what were they like?”

Unperturbed by Mozun’s question, Saman answered guilelessly: “We, the people of the Deity, that is……are the Saer in the mouths of inferior beings.”

“Our race, which has existed for a long time, originated in the Andromeda Galaxy. Within this universe, we are the most intelligent and technologically advanced species. We are divided into two kinds. The first is the light elders, like you and I. We are the rulers. Underneath us are the warriors, called the Duodao.”

“We all live spiritually linked to each other. Light elders are few and possess abilities that you already know yourself. And the Duodao warriors are many, many……They are single-mindedly devout believers with great spiritual power. The Duodao warriors believe in us, the light elders, and we in turn believe in the Deity.”

Saman pointed a finger at the pillar of light in the middle of the temple: “This is the force of our Deity. Before each light elder dies, they make union with their pair one last time. They die in unity and join this, the Deity’s force.”

" "

Lifting its head up, Saman gazed into the pillar: “This is our temple. Here we see the past and the future, listening attentively to our Deity. The Deity has unending wisdom, but no strength. Therefore we are born with the duty to protect it.”

Frowning slightly, Mozun suddenly asked: “If that’s the case, if the light elders are simply to protect the Deity, why are the Saer invading the Milky Way?”

“Invasion? No, no, there’s no intelligent life in the Milky Way, so it can’t be an invasion. You should call it immigration.” Saman replied.

“There are more and more people of the Deity, and the Andromeda Galaxy is growing too small……We’re just seeking new places to settle, that’s all.”

“Seeking new places to settle by killing the local inhabitants?” Mozun’s heart grew even more uneasy.

“Those insignificant creatures can’t be called inhabitants,” Saman said, “They’re greedy, ignorant, and stupid things. They may look similar to us, the people of the Deity, but they have none our superior intelligence. They can only be considered an inferior life form!”

“Inferior life forms?” Mozun raised an eyebrow. “You’ve that thoroughly studied humans? I’m supposing this was premeditated, right? Since when?”

“Premediated? How can you speak like this?” Saman scolded. “I can sense your mood swings and your hostility towards me. Why is this?”

Hurriedly trying to adjust his attitude, Mozun desperately convinced himself to calm down: “It’s not hostility, it’s……a different way of expression. Since when have the Saer wanted to immigrate?”

Saman sensed the animosity from Mozun disappearing, even being replaced with amicableness.

Therefore Saman was willing to explain patiently: “It was only a little time ago that this was thought of.”

“How little of a time?” Finding Saman’s answer unclear, Mozun sought clarification.

" "

“Mmm, it wasn’t that long past that we discovered the Andromeda Galaxy wouldn’t be able to satisfy our needs much longer, so we wanted to open up the neighboring galaxy. After discussion, we decided to have a light elder, along with ten Duodao warriors, find us a new region suitable for our survival.”

“Along the way, the Duodao warriors sacrificed their lives, and it was solely the light elder who located a fitting planet……orbiting around a star called the ‘Sun.’” Saman’s words were slow.

It only took Mozun a second to connect the dots. The light elder sent by the Saer to explore had been the Mijia who’d left behind the special book.

“Mijia observed, studied the local area, and was able to quickly inform us it was a fitting place for our species. All that was needed was to alter the composition of the atmosphere. After Mijia reported the unfavorable atmosphere composition, we developed a targeted approach to the situation. But then, for some reason, Mijia severed our spiritual link.”

Saman’s expression turned baffled, muttering under its breath: “Why did Mijia cut off the link? It’s more painful than death for people of the Deity. Why?!”

Since Mijia had died before Mozun could know the light elder, Mozun could only speculate—Mijia must developed some kind of affectionate feelings for humans after living amongst them. Not wanting humanity to be destroyed and swept away like trash, Mijia chose to betray the Saer and help the human race.

Wanting to confirm his surmises, Mozun asked point blank: “What is the spiritual link?”

“It’s a connection built into our neurons,” Saman replied, “It links each of our spirits with the others. We are a true whole. We know each other’s thoughts are soon as they made. And the others will know our thoughts instantly too. Severing the spiritual link with one of us is the same of severing it with all of us. This is more agonizing than death. How could Mijia……”

A shiver ran through Mozun’s body. This ‘spirit link’……No wonder it’d been written in the book: “My thoughts have moved, Saman will know. The sin of treason, the crime is great. ”

However, since Saman had no clue about the book, Mijia must have written it after cutting off their spiritual link.

“After losing the link with Mijia, we tried for a long time to reestablish it, but it was useless. We were running short on time and a Duodao warrior wouldn’t be able to travel fast enough to Mijia. So instead we used a particle emitter to send the altering substance to Mijia’s last location.”

Hearing Saman’s words, Mozun’s heart fucking broke in two.

That altering substance that would transform the Earth’s environment had caused his living nightmare of over two thousand years, the death of most humans, and the protracted war between the Federation and the Alliance.

“What form would that substance make when it combined with the local atmosphere?” Mozun tried to hide his tightly clenched fists in his sleeves.

Saman was back to wholeheartedly staring into the pillar of light and didn’t notice Mozun’s changed tone.

“According to our tests, the substance probably appeared as a white fog,” Saman answered readily, “It would kill the local creatures we don’t like, while breeding the species that we, the people of the Deity, love. And of course alter the air structure to be satisfactory. The modifying substance would absorb to completion quickly.”

“Is that so?” It took all of Mozun’s control to keep his voice calm. “Then why didn’t you go there at that time?”

“You know it……The distance between the Andromeda Galaxy and the Milky Way.” Saman turned its head back to Mozun. “Besides, we didn’t just send that substance to one planet, we sent it to many planets. The time and energy required to send a light elder is far greater than what sending our substance entailed.”

“We were too far away, we couldn’t just come overnight. Really……We……after launching our substance, we did start out from the Andromeda Galaxy, but midway……some troublesome things happened. It wasn’t possible to reach the Milky Way until now.”

After such a long time, Mozun had finally found out whose handiwork the thick Saer fog had been.

An alien substance showing up in space out of nowhere, out of consonance with all previously known astronomical phenomena.
Gradually dissipating over time, leaving ruin behind.

Now—after a very long voyage, the Saer had reached the Milky Way to formerly battle humanity’s remains.

Funnily enough, now that he understand the sequence of events, Mozun felt a little glad.

The Saer fog had compelled humankind to evolve in two different directions.

" "

While the fleeing Federation had relentlessly pursued science and technology, the mutants had incessantly practiced their martial arts.

Their bilateral war had pushed both sides to continually progress.

Now the Saer were forging ahead during this mutual slaughter.

Although current strength of mankind could not be compared to the humans of the past. Even a formidable foe like the Saer was not guaranteed victory.

Intending to verify the Saer’s attitude towards humans, Mozun asked once more: “And if there are already creatures living in the Milky Way, you plan on living with them in peace, or……?”

Saman peered into Mozun’s face: “You are a person of the Deity, a great light elder. You haven’t been one of those creatures for a long time, you no longer need to sympathize with them. What should be imperative to you is our immigration plan! No matter if what lies before us is insects or powerful enemies, the people of the Deity will courageously advance into the Milky Way!”

Then Saman softly laughed: “Are you still worried for those insignificant pests? I’ve received information these past few days that those humans also immigrated. And when they did it, did they not exterminate any threatening local species?”

Mozun was silent. He knew too well that when humanity had settled planets in the Milky Way, either to protect their weaknesses or for pure greed, they had relentlessly killed any dangerous lifeforms, keeping only what could be used as food.

The interstellar migration of humanity and the interstellar migration of the Saer was……too similar.

Saman and Mozun stood quiet in the temple for a long time, until finally Saman said: “Everything you want to know, you can know……so……Let’s follow the Deity’s will, establish a spiritual link and complete our first union!”

Mozun looked up sharply: “One more thing!”

“What is it?” Saman asked.

“What is a Dark Temple warrior?” Mozun spoke slowly. “And why would you mistake my partner as a Dark Temple warrior?”

Cells within the nervous system, called neurons, communicate with each other in unique ways. The neuron is the basic working unit of the brain, a specialized cell designed to transmit information to other nerve cells, muscle, or gland cells.
Neurons are cells within the nervous system that transmit information to other nerve cells, muscle, or gland cells. Most neurons have a cell body, an axon, and dendrites. The cell body contains the nucleus and cytoplasm. The axon extends from the cell body and often gives rise to many smaller branches before ending at nerve terminals. Dendrites extend from the neuron cell body and receive messages from other neurons. Synapses are the contact points where one neuron communicates with another. The dendrites are covered with synapses formed by the ends of axons from other neurons.

The brain is what it is because of the structural and functional properties of interconnected neurons. The mammalian brain contains between 100 million and 100 billion neurons, depending on the species. Each mammalian neuron consists of a cell body, dendrites, and an axon.

When neurons receive or send messages, they transmit electrical impulses along their axons, which can range in length from a tiny fraction of an inch (or centimeter) to three feet (about one meter) or more. Many axons are covered with a layered myelin sheath, which accelerates the transmission of electrical signals along the axon. This sheath is made by specialized cells called glia. In the brain, the glia that make the sheath are called oligodendrocytes, and in the peripheral nervous system, they are known as Schwann cells.

Typically a particle system’s position and motion in 3D space are controlled by what is referred to as an emitter. The emitter acts as the source of the particles, and its location in 3D space determines where they are generated and where they move to. A regular 3D mesh object, such as a cube or a plane, can be used as an emitter. The emitter has attached to it a set of particle behavior parameters. These parameters can include the spawning rate (how many particles are generated per unit of time), the particles’ initial velocity vector (the direction they are emitted upon creation), particle lifetime (the length of time each individual particle exists before disappearing), particle color, and many more. It is common for all or most of these parameters to be “fuzzy” — instead of a precise numeric value, the artist specifies a central value and the degree of randomness allowable on either side of the center (i.e. the average particle’s lifetime might be 50 frames ±20%). When using a mesh object as an emitter, the initial velocity vector is often set to be normal to the individual face(s) of the object, making the particles appear to “spray” directly from each face but optional.
